Efektivitas Wira Wiri Suroboyo Sebagai Moda Transportasi Publik di Kota Surabaya

Surabaya is a continuously growing economic center, with significant mobility of residents and visitors, necessitating the development of public transportation to enhance mobility in East Java. The transportation needs of an area are generally served by public transport. Recently, the traffic data analysis company from Washington, United States, Inrix, released a study titled the Global Traffic Scorecard 2022, which ranked Surabaya as the most congested city in Indonesia. Wira Wiri Suroboyo was introduced as a public transportation system in Surabaya. The role of Wira Wiri Suroboyo as a feeder transport in Surabaya is expected to be a solution to public transportation issues and a key to expanding public transportation coverage in Surabaya. However, the implementation of Wira Wiri Suroboyo has encountered several issues, including scheduling, infrastructure, and many more. This study aims to determine and analyze the effectiveness of Wira Wiri Suroboyo as a mode of public transportation in Surabaya using Duncan's theory with a qualitative research method and descriptive approach. The research results focus on three dimensions: (1) goal achievement: the results indicate that the sub-dimensions of time frame and specific targets have been effectively achieved, but the sub-dimension of legal sources has not been effective yet, (2) integration: it has been effectively implemented with achievements in both sub-dimensions, namely procedures and socialization, (3) adaptation: the sub-dimension of capacity improvement has been effectively implemented, while the sub-dimension of infrastructure has not been effectively implemented overall. From these results, it can be concluded that Wira Wiri Suroboyo as a mode of public transportation in Surabaya is not yet considered effective overall.

Improving women's accessibility to public transport through participatory street experiments: The case of Maltepe, Istanbul

Building on the literature concerning gender-responsive mobility, this paper aims to explore how street experiments can be used to promote gendered mobilities and create streetscapes in order to prioritise the needs of women in the improvement of access to public transport that grants them access to the many facets of urban life. It argues that by creating more inclusive and accessible streets through participatory planning and design processes, women will have greater opportunities to participate in and benefit from public transport. To that end, a street experiment project, TOPUK, was used as a case study focusing on improving women's access to public transport in Maltepe, Istanbul. The methodology consists of the critical assessment of various participation methods and a detailed narrative of the project process. Accessibility, mobility, and safety were found to be the most important women-centric public transportation issues addressed through participatory pop-up design solutions at the street level, most of which were implemented despite bureaucratic obstacles. The paper concludes with a discussion of the lessons learned from the TOPUK project and how these lessons can be applied to future street experiments to create more gender-responsive and inclusive living environments.

Examining Safety & Security, Reliability and Punctuality of Public Transportation Quality Services: Cases of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Urban public transportation in Kuala Lumpur rely heavily on land-based transportation such as taxis, grab, and buses as well as rail-based transportation, namely commuter trains, light rapid transit (LRT), and mass rapid transit (MRT). The metropolitan town of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital city with approximately 10 million people, has boosted the transportation demand. Thus, this paper examines the public transportation service quality issue of safety and security, reliability, and punctuality. Several points and actions would serve as foundations for service providers in improving public transportation services. This secondary study employs relevant information through secondary channels: journal papers, the internet, newspaper, magazines, and books. It offers an understanding of public transportation issues in Kuala Lumpur. Interestingly, findings indicated that safety & security, reliability, and punctuality are prominent in influencing the quality of public transportation quality service. Suggestions for future research were given to enhance the study further.

GIS Analysis of Adequate Accessibility to Public Transportation in Metropolitan Areas

The public transport system plays an important role in a city as it moves people from one place to another efficiently and economically. The public transport network must be organized in a way that will cover as many places and as much of the population as possible, and support the city’s growth. As one of Australia’s largest capital cities, Melbourne is growing and expanding its metropolitan area to reflect the growth in population and an increased number of activities. To date, little research has been conducted to determine the accessibility and adequacy of public transport taking into consideration the blank spot areas, the number of public transport options for each area, the population density within specific geographical areas, and other issues. In this study, a new measurement model is developed that examines public transport in residential areas and the extent to which it is adequate for the various local government areas (LGAs). An accessibility approach is adopted to evaluate the accessibility of different types of public transportation in residential areas in metropolitan Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The results show that in most LGAs, the number of blank spots will decrease as the population density increases. This indicates that residents in lower-density areas will have less accessibility to public transportation. However, there is no indication that there is a greater level of services (such as more night-time and weekend public transportation services) in the high-density areas. This research is significant as it will point to and help to improve the areas with inadequate public transportation and other issues, taking into consideration their geographical locations and population density.

ANALYSIS OF THE STATE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN ALMATY

Public transport today is again gaining relevance as a means of transportation in connection with the personal cars that have flooded urban spaces. The city of Almaty is no exception and since the beginning of the last decade has taken a course to organize pilot projects to create a priority for the movement of public transport. The difficulty of implementing such innovations is the public, accustomed to crossing long distances by private vehicles, and in most cases city streets are loaded from nearby agglomerations. The emergence of such a trend is directly related to the expansion of the city in breadth, i.e. from east to west, because the natural uniqueness of the urban area in the south is limited by the mountain ranges of the Trans-Ili Alatau. This paper is presented taking into account the existing initial data for the study of public transport issues through the introduction of the GTFS scientific methodology, which can give a new angle of view on the current situation with the organization of bus and trolleybus routes. This paper focuses on studying the potential of public transport in Almaty for consistent growth, because with the help of the restructuring of route networks and the creation of a priority traffic network, there is a chance to achieve an increase in capacity and an increase in the number of users. The aim of this article is to provide information about the current state of the public transport network and to discuss the potential of geographic information systems (GIS) within the urban space, which are guided by spatial analysis approaches related to the processing of General Transit Feed Specification data (GTFS), since statistical data are based on providing a complete picture of the existing transport network, and afterwards can become the basis for subsequent optimization of public transport traffic. This paper creates new perspectives for future development of public transport and restructuring of the understanding how to create public network according to necessity in Almaty city.

Host city transportation issues: conceptualization, scale development, and validation

PurposePlanning and managing the transportation services for Olympic host cities is a complex task. This paper contributes to the event management literature by presenting empirical evidence of the public transportation issues using a case study of a local community-focused Olympic host city. Key factors underpinning transportation issues outcomes are identified.Design/methodology/approachThe Rio 2016 Olympic city was selected as a case study. To develop a scale of public transportation issues, four stages of scale development were conducted: a construct definition and content domain; item generation and expert review; a quantitative study for the purification of the scale; and a quantitative study to validation of the scale. Data were collected among local citizens who lived in the Olympic host city (n = 513).FindingsThe construct of public transportation issues was assigned to five main categories: planning, infrastructures, information, insecurity and urban mobility. The scale shows internal consistency, reliability, construct validity and nomological validity. Transport issues perceived of Olympic host city tend to increase the negative social impact perceived among local citizens.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the harmful impacts discussion of hosting sport mega-events and introduces the transportation issues that the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) needs to know when hosting the Olympic Games. The scale application for the future Olympic host countries is discussed.

Comparison of Service Quality and Stakeholder Perception on Bus Services for Urban Transportation in Klang Valley

Malaysia is one of the fastest grown countries in Asian Region. Rapid development in urban area has caused traffic problem which same as developed countries around the world. Kuala Lumpur also known as Klang Valley facing traffic congestions daily. In December 2015, Land Public Transport Commission as public transport authorities has launched The Klang Valley Network Revamp to solved public transport issues in Klang Valley. Unfortunately, there are several news have reported regarding poor service quality of bus services in Klang Valley. Therefore, these studies is to investigate the comparison between service quality and stakeholder perceptions in regarding bus services in Klang Valley. Service quality has been determined based on the service quality of bus services provided by operator. Stakeholder perceptions based on qualitative analysis conducted towards bus passenger or user in specific area. The results shows that Puchong and Petaling Jaya they have the same level of comparison of quality of service and stakeholder’ view which is C. As in Klang, quality of service bus services that been evaluated as D but stakeholder’s view has classified as C. Based on result, it can justified West Klang Valley has a good bus services and yet there are several issues could be addressed in future such as the certain driver performance could affect the quality service of bus and there are new development area should be reach by bus services.

Analysis of Bus Accessibility Based on GIS and Big Data of Crowd -- Taking Wansheng Economic Development Zone as an example

Public transportation issues are increasingly becoming a key constraint to the sustainable development of urban economic and social development. Based on crowd big data and GIS spatial analysis methods, this article analyzes the accessibility of the public transportation in Wansheng Economic and Technological Development Zone (hereinafter referred to as the development zone). A comprehensive evaluation and analysis was conducted to study the matching relationship between population density and existing public transportation stations, and to propose the optimal suggestions. The results show that the overall public transportation accessibility in the development zone is average level, and the public transportation accessibility is better in the densest crowded areas, but in the east and southeast of the development zone, crowd activities are poorly matched with the public transportation network, and residents’ travel demands can’t get public transportation with timely responses.

The Rio's transport legacy: pre- and post-Games resident perceptions

PurposeThe Rio 2016 Olympic Games required a significant investment in the public transport systems, connecting four city's areas and providing different types of impacts and legacies for their hosts. The purpose of this paper is to examine resident perceptions of the public transportation issues in the Rio host city before and after the Games. Key factors underpinning transportation issue outcomes are identified.Design/methodology/approachData were collected among Rio local residents by using a pre-Games (n = 504) and post-Games design (n = 421). The cross-sectional and longitudinal data were assessed at both time periods. An exploratory factor analysis revealed five factors, and a confirmatory factor analysis analysed the psychometric properties of the constructs proposed. Subsequently, MANOVA and a series of ANOVA tests (one-way and paired samples) were performed to analyse the differences in perceptions before and after the Games.FindingsResults revealed a five-factor model of public transportation issues perceived: planning, infrastructure, insecurity, information and urban mobility. Resident perceptions for four factors (planning, infrastructure, insecurity, urban mobility) increased from pre- to post-Games, meaning that they have a more negative perspective about those issues. In contrast, the findings suggested an improvement in public transport information perceived between the period before and after the Games.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the academic literature related to discussing the Olympic legacy by providing evidence of how hosting the Olympics may lead to social exchange with negative outcomes on transport legacy. The findings of this study can be used as valuable information for future event organizers, local authorities and governments.

A Proposal for the Account-Based Ticketing Application in Passenger Transport in the Slovak Republic: A Case Study

From the point of view of the national economy, the development of a transport sector is a key process which relies on many other industries. Therefore, it is inevitable to coordinate related activities and to develop the transport sector effectively, and significant synergies in relation to other sectors could be generated. This article deals with the issue of public passenger transport and its greater attractiveness through the account-based ticketing (ABT) technology application in the process of passenger handling. The article contains a review of the current literature on the subject, using both completed and partially completed studies. It presents the case of study of account-based ticketing in the Slovak Republic. ABT technology has already been introduced in many countries, for example, in the Netherlands in 2019, and in Singapore.

Public Transport - Effectivity of Costs and a Specific Case Description

Public transport is one of the driving forces of economic development; therefore, development and sustainability are required. In most cases, public transport operation is only possible with the help of public budgets, which in turn results in pressure from customers regarding efficiency. This article deals with the issue of public transport, especially in the Czech Republic, its sustainability and overall development. After an evaluation of the current situation for one specific case and possible future development, the author describes the basic survey conducted among passengers and outlines the possibilities for further development. The author made his basic observations and polled people who commute to work every day. In this case, the author attempts to show some basic connections and context.

URBAN-RURAL BUS PATH PLANNING BASED ON ANT COLONY OPTIMIZATION ALGORITHM

Abstract. With the advancement of urbanization, urban-rural public transport issues have become one of the most critical issues in urban development. The paper makes a detailed study on the optimization of urban-rural bus routes in Erqi District of Zhengzhou, China. The factors of bus stop selection are analyzed, and the three categories, including traffic road condition factors, economic benefit factors and waiting number factors, are mainly considered. The analytic hierarchy process is used to determine 35 specific objectives of urban-rural bus stop optimization, 20 of which are selected for simulation experiment with large weight. Then the ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm in path optimization is analyzed, which has the following two advantages. First, the global pheromone update is combined with the local pheromone update to enhance the algorithm's optimization ability and convergence speed. Second, through the method of spatial contraction transformation, the ant constructs a solution to reduce the number of construction steps and speed up the operation. Based on the actual analysis of urban-rural public transportation in the Erqi District of Zhengzhou, a simulation experiment is executed to show that the ACO algorithm is able to find out the optimal path, which is 15.1% shorter than the ant colony system (ACS) algorithm. The ACO algorithm improved path planning has good time effectiveness and path practicability.

Mobility policy through the lens of policy mobility: The post-political case of introducing free transit in Luxembourg

This viewpoint paper addresses the issue of fare-free public transport (FFPT) in the context of policy mobility, the strand of urban studies literature that examines how policy formulations developed in one place tend to ‘travel’ and inform and inspire plans elsewhere as good or best practices. We argue that the promotion of policies may not reflect a serious attempt to solve a sustainability or socio-economic issue. Rather, the institutions in charge have different targets in mind. FFPT in Luxembourg is thus more a reflection of a post-political process where politics are severed from the political.

SERVICE FREQUENCY AND SERVICE HOURS EVALUATION FOR BUS SERVICE IN WEST KLANG VALLEY

The Malaysian government has taken an initiative to mitigate public transport issues in the Klang Valley through the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD). Several issues were raised by passengers in Klang Valley in regard to public transport, such as long waiting time and poor management of bus service hours. This study is aimed to investigate the service frequency for bus service performance and the public bus service hours in Klang Valley. Five different areas were selected, which consisted of three routes for each area in west Klang Valley, which were Klang, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, and Puchong. The time interval for every scheduled bus departure, average time interval, and bus service hours were determined based on the collected data. The result showed that Puchong has the shortest average time interval for service quality. Therefore, the bus performance with regard to service frequency and service hours should be improved to provide the public with better service.

Implementation of the Integrated TOD Spatial Model for Jakarta Metropolitan Region

Jakarta Metropolitan Region (JMR) is the biggest megacity urban areas in Indonesia. However,theexistingpublictransportfacilitiesarenotadequatelyfulfillingthedemand ofitsinhabitant.Therefore,itisimportantforovercomingthoseissueswithshedlighton the integration of spatial and transportation by applying Transit Oriented Development (TOD) model. The method of this paper using the spatial and transportation approach by differentiates TOD each railway stations based on the typology. The results were that the TOD spatial model is focusing on solving public transport issues related to urban planning. Therefore, certain policy from stakeholders for this region greatly encourages transport planning in a more sustainable manner.

Barriers to accessing cervical cancer screening among HIV positive women in Kgatleng district, Botswana: A qualitative study

BackgroundLow and middle-income countries have a greater share of the cervical cancer burden, but lower screening coverage, compared to high-income countries. Moreover, screening uptake and disease outcomes are generally worse in rural areas as well as in the HIV positive population. Efforts directed at increasing the screening rates are important in order to decrease cancer-related morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to explore the barriers to women with HIV accessing cervical cancer screening in Kgatleng district, Botswana.MethodsA phenomenological qualitative study utilising semi-structured interviews with fourteen HIV positive women, selected by purposive sampling. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and the 5-steps of the framework method, assisted by Atlas-ti software, was used for qualitative data analysis.ResultsContextual factors included distance, public transport issues and work commitments. Health system factors highlighted unavailability of results, inconsistent appointment systems, long queues and equipment shortages and poor patient-centred communication skills, particularly skills in explanation and planning. Patient factors identified were lack of knowledge of cervical cancer, benefits of screening, effectiveness of treatment, as well as personal fears and misconceptions.ConclusionCervical cancer screening was poorly accessed due to a weak primary care system, insufficient health promotion and information as well as poor communication skills. These issues could be partly addressed by considering alternative technology and one-stop models of testing and treating.

New Layout of the Main Network in the Vysočina Region

The aim of this contribution is to define the backbone road network of the Vysocina Region and to introduce a system of road management to this network. The determination of the extent of the backbone road network is based on multi-criterion decision-making methods, with traffic as the basic parameter for defining the backbone road network. This is referred to as the number of vehicles passing through that section for a specified period of time. Vehicles are further divided into categories according to their size. A new backbone road network layout is designed to better reflect the current situation. In addition, a road management system is in place for the costs that need to be incurred with regard to the nature of maintenance and repairs. The article does not refer to the division of these costs; it only refers to the problem. It is precisely the efficiency of spending on the infrastructure maintenance of the means of transport that has become a frequent topic of discussion in the assessment of the management of the individual road network owners. Quality, safety, and reliability of transport infrastructure are also a limiting factor for attracting significant investment into the regions and the socio-demographic aspects of the territory. The article analyses the road network from the point of view of traffic intensity. This assessment is most used in patch planning; therefore, a major part of the article is devoted to it. Part of the contribution is also devoted to the issue of public transport on this road network. Public transport is strongly linked to transport infrastructure and is often a crucial factor in planning, especially winter maintenance on lower-class roads. The quality and efficiency of the road network must be seen as a compact unit, which directly or indirectly affects the functioning of all institutions and citizens in the territory concerned.

The influence of public transportation on housing values

ABSTRACTTransit-oriented development (TOD) is becoming an increasingly common development strategy with potential consequences on property values. This study explores the potential relationship between the proximity to public transportation and housing values. The objective is achieved by performing a hedonic regression using the 2013 American Housing Survey (AHS) sample, which includes 25 metro areas. In 2013, the AHS added a topical supplement addressing public transportation issues which makes understanding public transportation impacts on housing values more feasible. In this study, being located within half a mile of a public transportation stop was a significant factor in explaining housing values for 6 out of 25 metro areas. This research is important to real estate practitioners operating within TODs as proximity to public transportation may significantly influence property values.

Spatio-temporal analysis of road traffic accident fatality in Bangladesh integrating newspaper accounts and gridded population data

Road traffic accidents pose serious threats to human lives and often cause premature deaths, disabilities, and socioeconomic impacts. The objective of this study is to analyze the fatal road traffic accidents in Bangladesh by performing a space–time characterization of fatality rates involving an innovative newspaper-based method in concert with gridded population data to construct a road traffic fatality database. Kernel density estimation, temporal data plots and space–time pattern mining tools that combine the Getis-Ord Gi* statistic with the Mann–Kendall test are used to describe spatio-temporal hotspots/coldspots and trends. Results show different patterns between the urban and rural areas of Bangladesh and higher rates of road traffic accidents occur in the metropolitan regions (Dhaka) and in a northern region centered on Sirajganj area. Most of the road traffic accidents took place in between 9:00 and 12:00 pm while the accident rates remain low between 12:00 and 3:00 am. Spacetime analysis results reveal a core region of persistently high rates along with four smaller regions with high and intensifying rates. The output of this study could be useful to reduce road traffic fatalities, injuries, increase awareness, and adopt necessary interventions for public safety through integrating both the local, regional, and central level decision makers of public transportation policy and issues in Bangladesh. The approach has potential to be translated to other developing countries.
