This paper is based on a comprehensive national literature review of police occupational safety and health, and identifies key risk factors in police activity. The last years has seen an explosion of interest in risk management throughout business, the public sector, and society, in generally. Managing risks is indispensable in the process of identifying potential threats and opportunities in the achievement of police objectives and to provide they are being effectively managed. Efficient risk management processes within the Romanian National Police ensure the achievement of performance against objectives by contributing to a better service delivery, more efficient use of resources, both financial and human, reducing time spent fighting crime issues, better ground for strategy setting, reduced money waste and fraud, improved innovation, better management of accidental activities. Efficient risk management also allows stakeholders to have increased confidence in the police forces and capability to deliver its outputs. Substantial risk management will allow the police force to plan productively in the delivery of its performance by knowing what situations that could prevent it from achieving its aims, and by putting in to place measures to prevent risks from aking place, consequently, saving resources and time.
