Islamic Religious School as An Alternative Education Institution in the Global Era: A Bibliometric and Thematic Analysis

This study conducted a bibliometric and thematic analysis on research related to Islamic religious schools from 1995 to 2022. The research objectives were to: (1) assess the current growth and publication trends in Islamic religious school studies; (2) identify the most prolific contributors in this field; (3) determine the highly cited documents in Islamic religious school research; and (4) explore emerging research themes and areas in Islamic religious school studies. Data were collected from the Scopus database using keywords such as "Islamic religious school," "Islamic school," "pesantren," "madrasa," "pondok," and "Islamic schooling." A total of 690 documents were initially obtained, and after screening, 297 documents were included for analysis. The data were analyzed using tools like Biblioshiny and Microsoft Excel. The results showed that most publications were in 2022 (63 publications). The most significant publishers with the most research documents were Merry MS by the author (5 publications), University of Malaya by institution (26 publications), and Jurnal Pendidikan Islam by the source (24 publications). This study found the article entitled; ‘‘Unveiled Sentiments: Gendered Islamophobia and Experiences of Veiling among Muslim Girls in a Canadian Islamic School’’ written by Zine, as the most global cited document with 152 citations. Moreover, based on the results of thematic map and evolution, Islamic religious school research was divided into four main themes: Islamic Education and Pedagogy, Social and Cultural Perspectives, Comparative Studies and Global Perspectives, and Leadership and Governance. This study highlighted the need for further comparative studies across diverse contexts, inclusion of underrepresented regions and countries, examination of pedagogical approaches and educational outcomes, exploration of contemporary challenges, and policy implications and educational reform. By addressing these gaps, researchers can contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of Islamic religious schools and their role in providing alternative education in the global era.

The Meaning of Repentance According to Imam Ghazali and Semantic Analysis in the Qur'an: A Comprehensive Study

This study investigates the meaning of repentance as articulated by Imam Ghazali and its semantic representation in the Qur'an. By analyzing Imam Ghazali's interpretation of "taubat," the research delves into the spiritual, ethical, and psych thological dimensions of repentance in Islamic teachings. The study uses analysis descriptive as the method and it’s further conducts a semantic analysis of relevant Qur'anic verses to elucidate the concept's theological implications, including divine mercy, forgiveness, and justice. This comprehensive examination aims to bridge classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary semantic analysis, offering a nuanced understanding of repentance's role and significance in Islam. The findings contribute to Islamic studies, religious studies, and theological scholarship, providing valuable insights into the multifaceted nature of repentance or "taubat" and its contemporary relevance.

Analysis of the Ideals and Reality of the Leadership Style of the Ministry of School in the Application of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project

This research aims to describe the leadership style of the Principal of SDN Inpres 1 Lolu in implementing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). The type of research in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this research were the principal, class I (one) teacher, class II (two) teacher, class V (five) teacher, class VI (six) teacher, teacher in the field of Islamic religious studies, 1 class V (five) student and 2 students of class VI (six). The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, the data validity checking technique uses source triangulation. The results of the research show that the leadership style applied by the school principal in the Implementation of the Project for Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students (P5) at SDN Inpres 1 Lolu tends to be democratic. This is reflected in the school principal's way of solving problems and making decisions. In this case, the Principal carries out discussions and deliberations with the staff and teachers. The principal's attitude is to always accept opinions, criticism and suggestions from subordinates well, be open-minded and sincere and participate actively in every activity at school. Apart from that, the school principal always develops and prioritizes a sense of unity and oneness such as togetherness and cohesiveness.

Implementation of Humanism Learning in Learning Islamic Religious Education in the Modern Era

The purpose of writing this work is to analyze the challenges of the modern era for Islamic religious learning and the implementation of humanism learning. Literature review as an effective approach in collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing information related to the implementation of humanism learning in Islamic religious education in the modern era. With systematic steps, this research allows the identification of relevant humanism principles, strategies, benefits, and challenges. The results of this literature review research provide a deep understanding and an important contribution to the development of Islamic religious education following the demands of the times. This method also offers a strong theoretical foundation for understanding the relationship between humanism and Islamic education. The result of this research is that Islamic learning in the modern era is faced with complex challenges such as the integration of technology with religious values and contextual understanding in a multicultural environment. Solutions that can be applied include developing an online learning platform that pays attention to religious values and prioritizes inclusive interfaith understanding. Strengthening the religious-based character of education and integrating Islamic religious studies with other subjects in an interdisciplinary attitude is also important in answering this challenge. The implementation of humanism learning can form inclusive, empowered, and noble generation learning in Islamic religious education, but challenges such as the integration of humanist values with religious teachings and improving the quality of education need to be overcome to succeed.

Peran Lembaga Pondok Pesantren Dalam Pendidikan Karakter Di Pondok Pesantren Al-Rahmah

This research aims to determine character education in Islamic boarding schools and the prevalence of issues of violence in Islamic boarding schools, so the researcher wants to discuss in more depth about character education and issues of violence that are currently widespread in Islamic boarding schools with the object of research being the Al-Rahmah Islamic boarding school. . The approach method used is a qualitative method with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. The data collected by researchers is more focused on several research objectives, namely: 1) describing modern Islamic boarding schools based on the times. 2) describe Islamic boarding school institutions in character education 3) analyze more deeply the issues of violence in Islamic boarding schools, Islamic boarding schools are places where education about the Islamic religion focuses on Islamic religious studies and does not eliminate contemporary elements in the current era. more modern, especially in modern-based Islamic boarding schools.

Direct Method in Islamic Religious Education: Conceptual Framework and Implementation in Indonesia

The Direct Method, characterized by a focus on oral communication and direct practice, has been widely discussed in the context of language learning. Its application in Islamic religious education, however, remains less explored. This study aims to fill this gap by examining the theoretical underpinnings of the Direct Method and its implementation in Islamic religious education in Indonesia. The primary objective of this research is to comprehensively explore the concept of the Direct Method and its application in the teaching of Islamic religious studies. This includes understanding the theoretical foundations of the method and assessing its practical application in various educational settings, such as schools and madrasahs in Indonesia. This study employs a qualitative research approach, specifically library research. Data were collected through an extensive review of literature from primary and secondary sources, including books, journal articles, and other relevant publications. Data analysis was conducted using document analysis and thematic analysis techniques. The findings reveal that the Direct Method is highly effective in enhancing students' understanding and skills in Islamic religious education. The method's emphasis on direct interaction and immediate feedback from teachers fosters a conducive and personalized learning environment. However, challenges such as limited time and resources were identified as potential barriers to its effective implementation. To maximize the benefits of the Direct Method, ongoing support and training for teachers are essential. Additionally, adequate resources and institutional support are necessary to overcome the identified challenges. Future research should continue to explore innovative strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the Direct Method in various educational contexts.

IMPACTS OF LEARNING INTEREST AND PARENTAL SUPPORT ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS OF ISLAMIC STUDIES IN LAGOS

This study investigates the impacts of learning Interest and parental support on academic performance of secondary school students in Islamic Religious Studies in Lagos State. The study descriptive survey with the population consisting of all 68 public senior secondary schools in Lagos state Education District V and 31,703 Islamic Religious Studies Students. A Sample of 400 SS II Islamic religious studies students were selected using Krejcie and Morgan Sampling Template in 10 randomly selected schools for this study. Descriptive analysis was used to answer the research questions and lineal Regression was used to test hypotheses. The study found that the level of learning interest, parental support and academic performance were all high among senior secondary schools Islamic Studies Students in Lagos State. Also, the learning interest and parental support does not have significant influence on the Academic Performance of senior secondary schools Islamic Studies Students in Lagos State. Based on these findings, it was recommended among others that students should show high level of learning interest and commitment in the study of Islamic studies; Parents and guardians should show high level of parental support to their children, in order to reinforce learning and enhance their academic performance.

TEAM LEADERSHIP ON STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS STUDIES IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF BULO SUB-COUNTY IN BUTAMBALA DISTRICT, UGANDA. A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY.

Background: The study investigates the effect of team leadership on students’ academic performance in Islamic Religious Studies in public secondary Schools of Bulo sub-county in Butambala District, Uganda. Methodology: The study used both descriptive and analytical approaches. The study targeted school administrators, teaching and non-staff, Board of governors, heads of department, and students in the five public schools in Bulo sub-county the total population was 303 and then the total sample size was 205 respondents, the source of the literature review was journals, articles and reports from the different organizations. Primary data was collected and analyzed using quantitative methods and then presented in tables in percentages data analysis was done using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) and the Microsoft Excel software Results: The study consists of 205 respondents, who included; directors, head teachers, heads of departments, teachers, and students. 125(60.9%) were male and 80(39%) were female and 60(29.2%) were between 20-29 years old, 96(46.8%) were between 30-39 years old, 49(23.9%) were between 40-49 years old. The majority of the respondents representing a total of 125(60.9%) generally disagreed that the school management sponsors staff for further studies. 80(39.0%) disagreed that school administrators are open to staff suggestions,156(76.0%) agreed that the staff are engaged in targets and goal setting, and 85(41.4) disagreed that the administrators consult staff members before making a decision. Conclusion: It is also possible to assume that a lack of team leadership in public secondary schools harms student academic achievement. Recommendation: Leaders need to continually evaluate their leadership styles and perceptions, and understand different cultures, and individual and team motivations.

Tafsir and Qur’an Translation

This article investigates the relevance of the religious science of Tafsir in the translation of the meanings of the holy Qur`an. The study aims to highlight the significance of exegesis / Tafsir in elucidating the contents of the Qur`an through the analysis of selected translations of Quranic verses which display semantic ambiguity that requires reference to Tafsir for clarification. A qualitative, descriptive, and analytical approach is adopted to highlight the need for exegesis in explaining their meanings. The study provides context and exegesis for each verse according to different sources. Afterward, the English translations of these verses are analyzed and compared to the source text to ensure that the intended meanings, according to the provided exegesis, are considered and preserved in the rendered texts. This study underscores the critical finding that translating the Holy Qur’an requires referring to the most important books of Tafsir to explain and interpret the verses at different levels. This research thus aims to contribute to a deeper understanding that collaboration across various disciplines, mainly Islamic religious and translation studies, is essential to uncover the hidden meanings within the Quranic text.

PENGGUNAAN SITUS JEJARING SOSIAL YOUTUBE DALAM PEMBELAJARAN FIQIH DI MTS MUHAMMADIYAH SALAM MAGELANG

The use of the YouTube social networking site in Islamic religious education learning in this era is very necessary to answer the challenges of the era where students will more easily receive understanding through audio and visual video. This research explores the integration of the YouTube social networking platform into learning fiqh subjects at MTs Muhammadiyah Salam Magelang. Using qualitative methods such as observation, interviews, and document analysis, this research investigates implementation strategies for student acceptance, impacts, and challenges for teachers related to incorporating the use of YouTube into Fiqh learning. These findings explain the use of YouTube as an educational tool in facilitating student engagement and understanding in Islamic religious studies. This study contributes to understanding the dynamic relationship between technology and Islamic religious education, providing valuable insights for educators in optimizing pedagogical approaches in teaching Islamic education. This research underscores the importance of utilizing digital platforms such as YouTube to enhance learning experiences and encourage meaningful engagement in religious education in Islamic school.

This journal examines the Madrasah Head's strategy in cultivating character education at MI Ma'arif NU 1 Klapagading Wangon Banyumas and aims to describe the Madrasah Head's strategy in cultivating character education at MI Ma'arif NU 1 Klapagading Wangon Banyumas. Pengaruh Metode Diskusi Terhadap Hasil Belajar Pendidikan Agama Islam di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Tangerang

The discussion method is a way of presenting teaching materials with the teacher giving students or groups the opportunity to hold scientific discussions in order to gather opinions, make conclusions, or develop various alternative solutions to a problem. Meanwhile, learning outcomes are the value of student learning outcomes in Islamic religious education subjects. So in this research, in the field of Islamic religious education, the goal is to guide students to better know and understand the procedures related to changes in a Muslim, both in relation to God, humans and nature so that the objectives of learning can be achieved. This research is correlational research with two variables, namely the first variable X (discussion method) and variable Y (learning outcomes). The target population is all students at the MAN 1 Tangerang School, totaling 742. And the target population for class XI MAN 1 Tangerang is 117 students. The sample was taken using the Non Probability Quota technique, namely in class XI as many as 38 students. And researchers use product moment analysis. The results of calculations using the product moment correlation formula obtained a calculated r of 0.34, then the results were compared with the tabael r with a significance level of 5%, which was 0.32, meaning the calculated r was greater than the table r. Thus the null hypothesis which states that there is no significant positive influence between the discussion method on student learning outcomes in the field of Islamic religious education is rejected. Thus the research results conclude that there is a positive influence between the discussion method on student learning outcomes in the field of Islamic religious education studies in material on commendable morals and despicable morals at XI MAN 1 Tangerang.

Implementation of Assessment of the Individual Attitudes of Santri at the Baitul Hidayah Islamic Boarding School

Nowadays, character and attitude are the main achievements in education, not only focusing on cognition, let alone Islamic religious education which has the main goal of forming students who have Islamic personalities (obedient, confident, and have noble character) both as individuals, families, communities, citizens and the world. To achieve this, it is necessary to instill strong morals and character in the individual students, especially students who are students who specifically deepen Islamic religious studies at Islamic boarding schools. Using the case study method by conducting interviews directly and accompanied by documents that are confirmed by literature review. To know this, it is necessary to carry out evaluation and research in the implementation of moral cultivation in individual students, so this concentration is what the author is studying to study the pattern of moral cultivation to achieve the goals of Islamic Religious Education itself.

Examining the Impact of Study Habits and Learning Styles on Academic Performance in Islamic Religious Studies

This study aimed to determine: 1) The contribution of study habits to the learning outcomes of Islamic religious education students. 2) The contribution of learning styles to the learning outcomes of Islamic religious education students, and 3) The contribution of learning habits and learning styles to the learning outcomes of Islamic religious education students. This type of research is quantitative, with the research design used ex post facto. The data collection tool uses a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire to obtain information about study habits and student learning styles, and documentation is used to obtain information about student learning outcomes, with a sample size of 73 students from a total population of 330. The study concluded that 1) Study habits contributed to 43.5% of students' learning outcomes in Islamic religious education. 2) Learning style contributes to the Islamic religious education learning outcomes of students of 18.1. These findings indicate that learning style is one of the determining pillars for increasing student Islamic religious education learning outcomes, and 3) study habits and learning styles together contribute to learning outcomes by 61.4%. In comparison, the remaining 38.6% comes from outside the variables of this study. The findings recommend that academic performance can be improved through study habits and learning styles.

Implementation of the Bahtsul Masa'il Method in Improving Ability to Read the Book of Fathul Qorib

This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of implementing the Bahtsul Masa'il Method in improving the ability to read the Book of Fathul Qorib using a quantitative approach. This method is used in the context of Islamic religious teaching and focuses on understanding Arabic texts. In this study, the research sample consisted of a group of students who took part in training using the Bahtsul Masa'il Method and another group of students who took part in conventional teaching methods. Data was collected through reading and comprehension tests of Arabic texts before and after implementing the method. The results of the test were analyzed using descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing to evaluate significant differences in improvement in reading ability between the two groups of students. The findings of this research indicate that the implementation of the Bahtsul Masa'il Method significantly increases the ability to read the Book of Fathul Qorib compared to conventional teaching methods. Students who underwent training with this method showed higher improvements in understanding Arabic texts. These results support the use of the Bahtsul Masa'il Method as an effective approach to improving reading competence in the context of Islamic religious studies. This research has positive implications for curriculum development and Islamic religious teaching methods, by emphasizing the importance of interactive approaches and critical thinking in understanding texts religion. In addition, this research provides an empirical basis for Islamic religious educators to consider using the Bahtsul Masa'il Method in an effort to increase understanding and literacy in Arabic among students.

Islamic Religious Education on the Technological Developments of the Era-Revolutionary Society 5

The era of society 5.0 emerged with challenges as well as life obstacles. Society 5.0 has a significant impact on the education sector. Educational institutions are expected to be resilient in the face of emerging changes. Islamic religious education has faced big challenges because the era of society 5.0 puts forth 3 aspects, that of human literacy, data literacy, and technological literacy. The concept of learning Islamic religious education in the era of society 5.0, the benefits of learning this education, and the challenges of it in the era of society 5.0 are the background problems this study explores. This research model uses a literature study or what is commonly referred to as library research and the data collected is reviewed from various sources, including scientific publications and books that focus on these concepts, challenges and innovations of Islamic religious education in society 5.0. The data used are from books and journals. The challenges rose from the fact that there were inadequate human resources and teachers who were mostly elderly. The concepts applied in this learning utilize and create new innovations. The innovation of Islamic religious education learning that is carried out is by using a project-based learning model (PjBL) which is a 21st century learning model based on basic concepts and paradigms. This method is considered to be able to increase students’ motivation in conducting analysis aimed at problem-solving activities and critical thinking.

This paper examines further al-Ghazali's thoughts for the development of the Islamic world. The aim is to find common threads about al-Ghazali's thoughts regarding the science of Uhuluddin. Apart from that, to examine the discipline of Uhuluddin, which is a branch of knowledge in Islamic religious studies, by focusing attention on the contribution of educational thought adapted to the current context and the implications of his thought in the context of life in Muslim society. The method used in this paper is descriptive analysis, namely by analyzing al-Ghazali's thoughts according to the context of Ushuluddin's science. The analysis used is thematic analysis which aims to analyze al-Ghazali's thoughts in Ushuluddin science. The results of the research show that there is a Basic Understanding of Uhuluddin Science, Al-Ghazali's Contribution to Uhuluddin Science, Al-Ghazali's Influence in the Development of Uhuluddin Science, the Relevance of Al-Ghazali's Thoughts in the Modern Context, and the practical implications of Al-Ghazali's thoughts in Uhuluddin Science, both in terms of religious education, theology, or its relevance in solving contemporary problems in Muslim society.

Dynamics of Islamic Unity Education Institute

The purpose of this study was to find out the history and dynamics of Persis educational institutions. The research method uses library research with data sources in books form and scientific journals related to the dynamics of educational institutions, and data analysis techniques use content analysis. The study results revealed that Persis birth began with a Tadarusan formation (Islamic religious study) group in Bandung city led by H. Zamzam and H. Muhammad Yunus. Persis has been led by several figures who have their own characteristics of thought, including KH. Zamzam as Persis founder. Ahmad Hasan is the main teacher and founder of Persis. Mohammad Natsir is a political scholar. KH. E. Abdurrahman was a great scholar and a humble legal expert. Persis gives great attention to the education field. In this education field, Persis has established educational institutions ranging from early childhood or kindergarten to tertiary institutions, both in madrasas form, schools, and Islamic boarding schools. Apart from that, Persis also organizes courses and discussion groups. So it is necessary to continue to maintain this spirit, especially in eradicating stupidity context, backwardness, superstition, heresy, and superstition, as well as Indonesian people colonization by carrying out enlightenment among Muslims.

Strategies for Overcoming Emotional Challenges in the Lecture Process: Phenomenology Study of Islamic Religious Education Masters Students for the Indonesia Rise Scholarship Class (BIB) Palembang

In the transition from adolescence to adulthood, there are several life challenges for someone in the development process, especially for students who have multiple roles of responsibility. This study aims to explain what emotional challenges are most commonly experienced in the lecture process and what strategies are used to overcome emotional challenges in the lecture process by students of Islamic Religious Studies Education Masters (PAI) class of Indonesia Bangkit Scholarship (BIB) Palembang. This research method was qualitative, using a phenomenological approach to understand students' experiences and perspectives on the emotional challenges they face and the strategies they use to overcome them. The instruments used for data collection were questionnaires, interviews. The results of the study show that students of Islamic Studies Masters (PAI) class of Indonesia Bangkit Scholarship (BIB) Palembang face several emotional challenges in the lecture process, such as academic stress, insecurity, loneliness or social isolation, and personal challenges. To overcome these challenges, students use a variety of strategies, including managing their time well, developing stress management skills, seeking social support, engaging in relaxation activities such as meditation or yoga, and using campus resources such as counselling or other support services.
