THE DETERRITORIALIZATION CULTURE OF ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOLS: A NETNOGRAPHY STUDY OF LIVE STREAMING USERS OF KULIAH IHYA' TEMATIK AND NGARIKSA ON FACEBOOK

The teaching tradition of Islamic boarding schools has encountered deterritorialization. Islamic boarding schools that used to be distinguished by traditionality have transformed the management, financial, and learning traditions following digital developments. This article aims to examine the substantial shift in Islamic boarding school intellectual traditions from traditional to digital, which will then be called 'online recitation’, through live Facebook streaming content of Kuliah Ihya' Tematik (Ihya' Thematic Lectures) and Ngariksa (Questioning). The data were collected through documentation, surveys, and in-depth interviews involving kyai, production teams, and online santri (student) of two Facebook accounts: Ulil Abshar Abdalla (Ihya' Thematic Lectures) and Oman Fathurahman (Ngariksa). Data was analyzed using netnography through investigation, interaction, immersion, integration, and incarnation stages. The results showed values, rituals, heroes, and symbols in the deterritorialization culture of Islamic boarding schools. Followers of the online recitation get a social experience (becoming more sensitive to social issues) and a ritual experience (calmness in living life) after participating in the Ngaji online through live streaming or recorded playback. Research contributes to the development of Islamic communication science where Islamic boarding schools as the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia can communicate to the wider community about learning activities in Islamic boarding schools through social media which is of great interest to the public.

Islamic communication as an invention of modern-western knowledge: critical analysis toward Islamic communication in Indonesia

ABSTRACT This article questions the idea that Islamic communication is rooted purely in the religion itself. By studying the field of Islamic communication studies in Indonesia, it analyzes discourses which produce knowledge of Islamic communication. Foucauldian archaeological method is employed to examine literatures, textbooks, and other sources which form regulated statements about Islamic communication tradition in Indonesia, developed by both public university scholars and Islamic scholars in the nation. The author argues that Islamic communication traditions in Indonesia are the product of modern developmentalism discourse which dominated in the New Order era (1966–1998). As a consequence, Islamic communication tradition in Indonesia is currently unable to provide an alternative perspective in much broader communication studies. This article proposes revisiting the history of Islamic communication within certain local contexts and use of the Islamic discourse as a criticism toward every kind of domination, including the domination of knowledge termed Islamic.

Data Privacy Protection in Islamic Communication Perspective

Technology development brings many conveniences, but on the other hand, it also provides challenges, such as data security. The phenomenon of hacking personal data that ends in fraud and other crimes seems to be evidence. Technology in the era of society 5.0 was rising to facilitate human work, but it is used to misuse big data from the individual level. Social media provides opportunities for open privacy by revealing confidential personal data. In addition to requiring self-control, it also requires security and data protection. This research aims to analyze the phenomenon of data theft in the context of Islamic communication with solutions obtained from the perspective of the Qur'an. The method utilized is qualitative research through literature study using a constructivist paradigm. The results of this study revealed that internal and external factors caused data theft. The ability to filter information and information literacy in the digital space, maintain ethics in the media space, integrate roles between government and society, and protect digital communication from the perspective of the Qur'an have a positive effect on information preservation in the digital realm. In addition, continuous integration between the government and the community is also needed to overcome the rife data theft problem.

Implementasi Komunikasi Islam Qaulan Maysura dalam Membentuk Kesantunan Berbahasa Di Bank Sumut

This research aims to determine the implementation of Islamic communication Qaulan Maysura in forming language politeness at Bank Sumut. This research applies a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach in order to identify problems through direct observation of the natural conditions of the research object. The data sources for this research consist of primary data obtained through observation and secondary data sourced from literature reviews. The data analysis process involves reducing findings, presenting descriptively, and verifying to support the validity of research results. This approach is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon under study and has the potential to contribute to the development of theoretical or practical understanding in the context of the research being carried out. The results of this research show that Bank Sumut applies the Qaulan Maysura concept, teaching employees to communicate with words of wisdom, politeness and kindness. Politeness includes clarity of information, respect and gentleness in interactions with customers. This approach is not only a communication strategy, but also an effort to strengthen customer trust and loyalty, making Bank Sumut a partner that cares about the human aspect in every interaction.

Analysing Child Bullying Case from the Perspective of Media Political Economy and Islamic Communication in Ihya Ulum Al Din by Al Ghazali

The rise of child bullying cases has not escaped the media spotlight. News about cases found and their developments grab the attention of the public, especially bullying cases involving minors as perpetrators and victims. Children associated with cases that should have privacy and protection, in reality, become media and public consumption. Bullying cases no longer only focus on the case, but also the privacy of the perpetrators and victims. Responses from various communities have also been in the spotlight. Condemnation and blasphemy against the perpetrators then become their own form of bullying outside the case. One of the cases that caught the public's attention was the bullying case of Audrey, a junior high school student in Pontianak in 2019. The case even went viral and received public support through an online petition with the hashtag #justiceforaudrey. However, it was later discovered that the case was a fabrication made by Audrey after several years of the case going viral. The audience was then made guilty of blaming the alleged perpetrator without seeing the real truth first. Content about bullying cases is then no longer a bridge of information for the public, but also a business field and a place to get public attention. This research aims to dissect how cases of child bullying in the media from the perspective of media political economy and Islamic perspective communication.

Metode Dakwah pada Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) Jambi

The Indeginous tribe is a minority tribe in Jambi. They have animism and dynamism beliefs that are hereditary in herited. In its development the Indeginous tribe, they have left their and cestors’ beliefs and preferred to embrace Islam. The process of trasfering faith is obtained at the instigation of the preacher. The first question in this research is, how are the da’wah strategies by applying the principles of Islamic Communication, tablîgh, taghyîr, takwîn al-ummah/amar makruf nahi munkar, dan khairiyah al-ummah/akhlâq as an effort to spread the religion of Islam in the Indeginous tribe?. While the second question is, what are the obstacles of da’wah faced by preachers in spreding Islam in the Indeginous tribe? The main theory used in this research is the theory of Islamic communication by Andi Faisal Bakti (2010) and Edi Amin (2017). The theory says that da’wah is done by four stages, namely tablîgh, taghyîr, takwîn al-ummah/amar makruf nahi munkar, dan khairiyah al-ummah/akhlâq. While the supporting theory used is attribution theory by Fretz Heider (1958) to know the obstacles of da’wah, namely ecological, psychological, and semantic. The results of this research indicate that da’wah done in the Indeginous tribe were in accordance with the stages of the islamic communication theory. Da’wah was done with a long proccess so that it changed. The changes occurred at the encouragement of culture and religions. The changes contineles to achieve physical and non-physical development, the peak of the Indeginous tribe formed the communities which religions values were well guided in da’wah, there were several obstacles, both internally and externally. Internal obstacles were influenced by semantic factor, while external obstacles were influenced by ecological and psychological faktors. The colclusion is the proccess of da’wah in the Indeginous tribe were in accordance with the stages of the islamic communication theory. There was a change both physically and non-physically in the Indeginous tribe into a positive and constructive directions. The external obstacles were more dominant such as environmental ecological than psychological and semantic.

Utilisation of Chat GPT in Improving Learning of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Students at State Islamic University of Langsa

This research aims to explain the role of Chat GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) in learning for students majoring in Communication and Broadcasting Islam at the State Islamic Institute of Langsa. The phenomenological approach is used as the theoretical foundation to understand students' subjective experiences in using Chat GPT. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with three informants, namely students from the 2nd, 4th, and 6th semesters. The results of the study indicate that the use of Chat GPT provides easy access to information and assistance in understanding learning concepts. Students stated that Chat GPT helps them obtain detailed explanations, solve problems, and provide relevant additional reference sources. However, several challenges were also identified, such as less relevant answers and difficulties in formulating questions to Chat GPT. This research provides new insights into students' experiences using Chat GPT as a learning tool in higher education. These findings can serve as a reference for developing more effective learning strategies by utilizing artificial intelligence in the context of communication education.

Generation Z Media Literacy Awareness of the Rainbow Symbol on Tik-tok as an LGBT Campaign

Tik-tok is a social media that has been present in Indonesia since 2018 and was blocked by the Ministry of Communication and Information for one week because it gave negative broadcasts. However, Tik-tok has now spread as a medium for campaigning for various aspects, one of which is the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) is a term for people who have deviations in their sexual orientation and are synonymous with the rainbow flag and rainbow symbol. LGBT with rainbow symbol on Tik-tok. The formulation of the problem discussed was regarding how to use the rainbow symbol on Tik-tok as an LGBT campaign and how media literacy awareness of Generation Z on LGBT campaigns in using the rainbow symbol on Tik-tok (Studies on Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Students of UIN KH. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan. The type of research used is qualitative, with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used by researchers is using the method from Miles and Huberman, which includes the process of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of research on rainbow symbols in some content on Tik-tok are a campaign for LGBT actors in the world, including Indonesia. Although there are two possible uses of the rainbow symbol as something related to aesthetic elements. The results of the analysis of Z generation's media literacy awareness of LGBT campaigns in using the rainbow symbol on Tik-tok (Study on Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Students of UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan) are still not met, namely there are four New Media Literacy frameworks, namely the consumption function includes consuming skills and understanding, critical consumption includes analysis, synthesis, and evaluation, participation functions include prosuming skills and distribution, as well as critical participation.

Strategi Pengembangan Program Studi Komunikasi Penyiaran Islam Melalui Inovasi Kurikulum

The aim of the research is to explain the strategy for developing an Islamic broadcasting communication study program. Qualitative research method through literature study. Data collection techniques with documentation and data processing with data reduction and presentation. Research results: strategies for developing the Islamic communication and broadcasting curriculum: sending professional da'wah personnel to remote areas, sending students to Islamic boarding schools to prepare professional da'wah personnel, assigning students to manage radio as a medium for da'wah, strengthening courses that lead to the Islamic broadcasting communication study program, core communication science, especially material on journalism and broadcasting, a plus da'wah-based curriculum and a balanced portion of the curriculum between theory, practice, Indonesian national qualification framework, curriculum concentration on journalism, broadcasting, public relations, plus competency in the field of counseling based on an Islamic world-view, communication technology competency and competence in managing mass media.

Penerapan Prinsip-Prinsip Etika Komunikasi Islam Dalam Manajemen Komunikasi Krisis Pada Lembaga Keagamaan

The purpose of this study is to identify the principles and ethics of Islamic communication used in interaction, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors that influence the application of Islamic communication principles by individuals and religious institutions. What principles of Islamic communication are used, and how do individuals and religious institutions apply them? Islamic communication and its elements for and against. This research was conducted through a qualitative approach that uses a descriptive approach. The results of this study show that the principles of Islamic communication are used by individuals and religious institutions in their communication, such as the principles of honesty, cleanliness, and positive speech. Religious institutions use these principles to establish good communication with each other. The ability to interact and communicate, mutual desire, desire, adaptability, and improved reading skills are components that help apply the principle. In addition, inhibiting factors that influence the application of Islamic communication principles include the environment. Communication has many explanations and receives special attention because Allah Almighty says: It means "speak well to everyone".

The role of religious communication in North Sumatra's governmental institutions

This study aims to examine how the Department of Youth and Sports in North Sumatra utilises religious communication to enhance the well-being of young individuals. It contributes to scholarly knowledge by shedding light on the strategies employed by the Department to improve youth quality through Islamic communication. The study employs field methodologies and applies Miles and Huberman's data analysis model. The findings are divided into three key dimensions: 1) Planning Islamic Communication: Analysing the Department's Strategies for Effective Communication in an Islamic Context; 2) Organising and Implementing Islamic Communication: Investigating the Department's Efforts in Organising and Executing Islamic Communication Initiatives Targeting North Sumatra's Youth; and 3) Monitoring and Evaluating Islamic Communication: Assessing the Department's Systematic Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Islamic Communication Strategies in Youth Engagement. Additionally, this study encounters challenges related to technology and semantics. Semantic difficulties arise from varying interpretations and analyses of Islamic communication messages among the youth population, while technical obstacles include concerns regarding infrastructure deficiencies and resource constraints.

The Effectiveness of Da'wah Through Social-Media in Fostering the Interest of Da'wah Students of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting at North Sumatra State Islamic University

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of da'wah through social media in fostering interest in da'wah of Islamic communication and broadcasting students at North Sumatra State University. This research is categorized as quantitative research with associative methods and uses questionnaires as research instruments. The population in this study were Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Students of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra semester 3. The sampling technique used a non-probability sampling method, namely purposive sampling with a sample size of 109 students. The method used for hypothesis testing in this study is multiple linear regression method. Based on the research that has been done, it is found that the elements of da'wah effectiveness, namely interesting content through audio visual, content based on Koranic postulates, and content based on historical simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on da'wah interest. Social media elements, namely user content, application networking sites, and virtual social world simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on interest in da'wah. And interest in da'wah with elements of attention to da'wah content, curiosity about da'wah material, and readiness to convert partially and simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the effectiveness of da'wah and social media.

Analisis Konsep Perkembangan Ilmu Komunikasi Islam di Indonesia

As a science, Islamic Communication has main sources that have great potential to be explored to build and develop Islamic Communication Science. These sources are the Al-qur’an and Sunnah. Even though it is not collected in one place, the raw materials for Islamic Communication Science which are found in many places in the Al-qur’an and Sunnah make it possible to format Islamic Communication Science systematically, so that it becomes a science that is easily utilized by academics and society in general. The method used in this research use the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to find out the most appropriate method for designing enterprise architecture in government agencies. This research implements three stages, namely: planning, implementation, and analysis of the results, which involve analyzing the results of the Literature Review that the author has carried out. This research shows that the Al-qur’an and hadith as well as the books of previous scholars contain a lot of information about communication. However, books about Islamic Communication and other supporting contemporary books in the context of building science such as Communication Science in general only started to develop in the 20th century. On the other hand, this development is also influenced by the development of Communication Science, especially when communication technology and communication media develop rapidly in line with the needs of human nature as social creatures.

Metode Komunikasi Islam Penyuluh Agama dalam Meningkatkan Ibadah Masyarakat Kecamatan Simpang Empat Kabupaten Asahan

The purpose of this research is to find out how Islamic communication methods for religious instructors increase the worship of the people of Simpang Empat District, Asahan Regency and to find out what the supporting and inhibiting factors are for religious instructors in increasing the worship of the people of Simpang Empat District, Asahan Regency. This research was conducted at the Religious Affairs Office Jl. Pioneer of Simpang Empang, Simpang Empat District, Asahan Regency. This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach, namely research that attempts to collect data, process, analyze and interpret qualitatively and describe or illustrate a number of variables relating to the problem and unit being studied. The informants for this research consisted of 1 person from the head of the KUA, Simpang Empat District, Asahan Regency, 4 people from religious instructors in Simpang Empat District, Asahan Regency and 2 people from the community of Simpang Empat District. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research are that the condition of community worship is quite good, but some are poor, due to economic factors and not having free time to carry out worship. Apart from that, this increase in worship shows that the Islamic communication method used by religious instructors to increase community worship is using tabligh and bayan methods. This is proven by the increase in worship activities of the Simpang Empat sub-district community in carrying out the five daily prayers, reading the Al-Qur'an, and attend the local taklim assembly. These two methods are the pillars of success in increasing public worship.

This research aims to determine the content of Islamic communication messages in hata situtur poda, and the media used by the bride and groom. This type of research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The data sources in this research are primary and secondary data sources. Primary data sources are video files, traditional leaders who understand the tradition of giving hata situtur poda and secondary data sources obtained from books, magazines, articles related to the direction of this research. The data collection tools used were interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques using data classification steps, checking data completeness, data description and drawing conclusions. Based on the research results, it was found that the contents of Islamic communication messages in hata situtur poda messages include praise to Allah, advice from parents to children, advice from relatives to the bride and groom, commendable morals, mutual respect, love for family, developing an attitude of helping each other. , and mutual advice, a sense of responsibility, happiness in life in this world and the hereafter and prayers for safety. The media used are traditional and modern media. Traditional media are traditional mats, and media when suyup-suyup. Namely a plate/talam containing chicken cooked in large pieces, boiled free-range chicken eggs, salt and rice. Meanwhile, modern media is a microphone that is used as a loudspeaker to provide advice to the bride and groom.

Marketing Public Relations Starbucks Indonesia dalam Membangun Loyalitas Customer

In the Coffee Shop business in Indonesia, competition is becoming increasingly intense. The success of a company in competing with its rivals depends on the good relationship between the company and its customers through optimal service that meets their needs. To build customer loyalty, a crucial role is played inpublic relations. One of the strategies used by companies to build customer loyalty is through Marketing Public Relations. The purpose of this research is to determine how Starbucks Coffee Indonesia uses Marketing Public Relations strategies to build customer loyalty. A qualitative research method was used in this study with data collection techniques through literature review. The results of this research show that Starbucks Coffee Indonesia has successfully built customer loyalty through three main strategies: creating emotional connections with customers, using easily recognizable merchandise and branding, and implementing Customer Relations in loyalty programs. Starbucks Coffee Indonesia creates emotional connections with customers through comfortable store designs, serving quality coffee, and providing personal attention and rewards to customers. The company also uses easily recognizable merchandise and branding, with the Starbucks logo as a means to build customer loyalty. Lastly, the implementation of Customer Relations by baristas in the loyalty program is also an important factor in building customer loyalty. This research concludes that Starbucks Coffee Indonesia has successfully utilized Marketing Public Relations strategies optimally to build customer loyalty, as evidenced by the company's success in overcoming the increasingly intense competition in the Coffee Shop business in Indonesia. From an Islamic communication perspective, Starbucks' marketing public relations communication has also fulfilled the principles of communication in Islam: qaulan sadiddan, qaulan balighan, qaulan maysuran, qaulan layyinan, and qaulan kariman.
