Finally, it concludes that we should actively address these challenges to fully leverage the advantages of integration to promote development in various fields.

Intelligent warehousing performance management based on Internet of Things and automation technology in the context of green manufacturing

At present, there is a significant imbalance in the development level of warehousing in China, and most enterprises still use traditional material identification technology, resulting in many unnecessary manual operations in the management process, thereby reducing efficiency and causing waste. Therefore, in the context of green manufacturing, we propose an intelligent warehousing performance management solution based on Internet of Things technology and automation technology. By conducting research on the development and research status of the Internet of Things and intelligent warehousing at home and abroad, this paper delves into the various requirements of intelligent warehousing systems and formulates a targeted architecture for this system. Through experiments, it has been proven that the intelligent warehouse performance evaluation model improved by dual technology can effectively improve warehouse management level, reduce enterprise costs, and enhance enterprise efficiency. After in-depth analysis, it is concluded that this method has considerable adequacy and practicality in evaluating the performance management of intelligent warehousing. Therefore, in the context of green manufacturing, the intelligent warehouse performance management system built by adding IoT technology and automation technology has achieved automation and intelligence in performance management evaluation and warehouse entry and exit management, and has extremely high practical value.

IoT revolutionizes orchid cultivation in Indonesia with precision and efficiency

The Orchidaceae family is highly valued in ornamental, perfume, medical, and cosmetic industries, but cultivation often fails due to human error. This research aims to design an IoT-integrated automation system to monitor and control key parameters such as air temperature, humidity, and moss moisture for orchid cultivation. Using the research and development method, we observed plant needs, reviewed relevant literature, designed an effective system, and tested sensor accuracy and system reliability. Results showed the DHT-22 sensor had a minimal error in temperature (0.9%) and humidity (2.1%) readings, and the soil moisture sensor had a 3.65% error. The system maintained optimal conditions, and the Blynk app effectively displayed data. This innovation reduces human error and enhances orchid cultivation efficiency, with potential applications in other sensitive plant systems. Highlight: Error Reduction: IoT system minimizes human error in orchid cultivation. Sensor Accuracy: DHT-22 sensors show minimal temperature (0.9%) and humidity (2.1%) errors. Enhancing Robustness within the Collaborative Federated Learning Framework: A Novel Grouping Algorithm for Edge Clients

In this study, we introduce a novel collaborative federated learning (FL) framework, aiming at enhancing robustness in distributed learning environments, particularly pertinent to IoT and industrial automation scenarios. At the core of our contribution is the development of an innovative grouping algorithm for edge clients. This algorithm employs a distinctive ID distribution function, enabling efficient and secure grouping of both normal and potentially malicious clients. Our proposed grouping scheme accurately determines the numerical difference between normal and malicious groups under various network scenarios. Our method addresses the challenge of model poisoning attacks, ensuring the accuracy of outcomes in a collaborative federated learning framework. Our numerical experiments demonstrate that our grouping scheme effectively limits the number of malicious groups. Additionally, our collaborative FL framework has shown resilience against various levels of poisoning attack abilities and maintained high prediction accuracy across a range of scenarios, showcasing its robustness against poisoning attacks.

Application of Digital Twin Technology for the Digitization of Railway Maintenance Services in compliance with European Regulation EU 779/2019.

This paper delves into the application of Digital Twin Technology (DTT) in the digitalization of assets, processes, and services to improve maintenance performance in railway applications in the context of European Regulation EU 779/2019. Digitalization plays a pivotal role in certifying the suitability of rolling stock in the railway sector. The primary objective of this study is to meticulously examine the fundamental tasks required to build a digital twin in this specific context. The process involves the contributions of key entities fulfilling specific roles: the maintenance and asset certification service provider ensures the integrity and compliance of rolling stock; specialists in IoT and process automation, along with experts in software platforms and services, are tasked with implementing the technological aspects of the digital twin. As a result, a methodology is proposed for the integration of digital design that combines three approaches: Service approach, platform architecture, and model-based asset digitalization. This paper delineates critical stages, from data acquisition and management to model creation and information integration, highlighting the crucial role of DTT in this process. Furthermore, the challenge of digitalization in situations where assets and processes are in an initial state of low or non-existent digitalization is underscored. A profound understanding of digital assets, information layers, and underlying models becomes crucial in the context of the current challenges of railway digitalization.

FEATURES OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF BUSINESS PROCESSES OF COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISES IN UKRAINE

The article analyzes digital transformation strategies, defining their essence, features, advantages, and disadvantages. It examines strategies related to the integration of digital technologies, the use of data analytics, customer orientation, the implementation of IoT, cloud computing, and business process automation. International practices of implementing digital transformation strategies by commercial enterprises are explored, with examples from Walmart, Starbucks, Zappos, John Deere, Airbnb, and AXA Group. Based on the study's results, steps and recommendations are formulated for implementing the synergy of digital transformation strategies by commercial enterprises, which involve the use of data analytics, cloud computing, and robotic process automation (RPA) in business processes. It is determined that a systematic approach to digital transformation ensures control at each stage, avoiding chaotic changes and being key to the successful development of enterprises, improving business process efficiency, customer interaction, and competitiveness.

SLiCE: Implementation of automation technology and Internet of Things in the greenhouse

SMK Negeri 1 Sidoarjo aims to create an automated hydroponic greenhouse system with IoT technology. Limited knowledge and costs hinder their progress. However, the Audio Video Engineering Department seeks assistance to achieve the program's goals by upgrading their knowledge and skills in automation. The Service Learning in Computer Engineering (SLiCE) program focuses on introducing and implementing automation and IoT technology in greenhouses. The community service project starts with surveys and discussions involving the principal and teachers. It then proceeds to analyze the needs and develop a hydroponic and IoT automation system. Training is provided for students and teachers of SMK Negeri 1 Sidoarjo. The ESP32 microcontroller enables remote monitoring and automatic control of nutrient levels and water pH, ensuring optimal plant growth. The outcome is a real-time hydroponic automation system capable of monitoring pH, nutrient PPM, and controlling nutrient addition through a website. After training, 87.9% of students reported improved comprehension of IoT and its implementation.

IOT Automation with Segmentation Techniques for Detection of Plant Seedlings in Agriculture

The present work proposes to evaluate, compare, and determine software alternatives that present good detection performance and low computational cost for the plant segmentation operation in computer vision systems. In practical aspects, it aims to enable low-cost and accessible hardware to be used efficiently in real-time embedded systems for detecting seedlings in the agricultural environment. The analyses carried out in the study show that the process of separating and classifying plant seedlings is complex and depends on the capture scene, which becomes a real challenge when exposed to unstable conditions of the external environment without the use of light control or more specific hardware. These restrictions are driven by functionality and market perspective, aimed at low-cost and access to technology, resulting in limitations in processing, hardware, operating practices, and consequently possible solutions. Despite the difficulties and precautions, the experiments showed the most promising solutions for separation, even in situations such as noise and lack of visibility.

The Automated Farmlands of Tomorrow: An IoT Integration with Farmlands

The rapid urbanization and industrialization of the population have resulted in a critical shortage of agricultural land and manpower to meet the growing population’s needs. The future of tomorrow requires impetus through concepts such as IoT Automation in farmlands to meet the increased demand for labour and inspection while maintaining economic efficiency without depleting the environment. Monitoring becomes difficult with a reduced manpower base, which may result in crop failures. The purpose of this paper is to propose how IoT, in conjunction with basic service automation, can be used to influence climate control. Thus, a working model is created using sensors that control the humidity and required temperature conditions, thereby maintaining a suitable growth environment while monitoring and analyzing in real time.

Smart BMS pilot project using LoRa networks

By providing information on environmental and equipment criteria, the Internet of Things offers major possibilities for ecological efficiency and enhancement of comfort for the occupants of smart buildings. In recent years, IoT automation and smart buildings have evolved exponentially, arising from a dramatic rise in the number of emerging indoor and outdoor innovations that address the core challenges of networking and application. Due to the differences in their requirements, we have worked hard to figure out which one of these technologies, such as building supervision, is better suited to those application domains. In comparison to Arduino-based equipment, the implementation of LoRa-based communications appears to be an alternative that offers simpler, more efficient and considerably lower IoT deployment costs, especially in the case of Arduino-based equipment.

The Reliability of Data from Metrology 4.0

The evolution of the human being is constant, we are always in search of new technologies, methods and techniques in order to provide several improvements such as, cost reduction, increase in quality, reduction in the use of natural resources, improvement of the workforce, agility of consequently provide improvements in quality of life. With the advancement of technology we came to the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution which aims to generate and obtain data in real time, with the aim of optimizing decision making, increasing quality, mass customization, cost reduction and traceability. In view of this new industrial scenario, some methods will undergo significant changes, such as the field of science and action for measurement, called Metrology, whose purpose of this article is to exemplify metrology 4.0, calibration procedure with the help of IoT, calibration certificates in metrology 4.0, reliability, guarantee and security of the generated data. In view of fact that the area of Metrology has always been highlighted by major innovations in its working methods, using instruments of highly accurate measurements, these instruments in most cases can be mechanical or electronic equipment, but they need to be correctly calibrated to perform the function that has been proposed with excellence. Thus highlights the importance for the industrial scenario today, where concepts of IoT, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and industrial automation are tools that all engineering professional should obtain thorough knowledge. Mainly professionals in the area of metrology, which can use these concepts and tools to ensure the standard and reliability of the calibration of the measuring instruments.

Integration of Logic Controller with IoT to Form a Manufacturing Edge Computing Environment: A Premise

Communication latency and large amount of sensing data hinder the application of IoT in smart manufacturing when cloud computing is in association with the IoT applications. Recent concept of edge computing try to resolve the problem, because the edge of the network can handle the data locally and respond timely. Edge computing enables IoT automation in the manufacturing control. However, in reality, there is still a gap to transform from traditional hierarchical ISA-95 control architecture to IoT automation.To reduce the gap problem, this research first introduces a 5-level architecture for smart manufacturing, which includes equipment layer, connection layer, conversion layer, cognition and knowledge layer, and application layer. This research develops a premise of Smart Control Box (SCB). Each SCB include a PLC, a Micro Control Unit (MCU), and a single board computer.By wiring IoT with MCU (Micro Control Unit) to the PLC and install the intelligence on the single board computer, we can realize intelligent manufacturing without changing the manufacturing operations in situ. However, SCB can provide further guidance and advices, because the data collected from the equipment layer is learned in the cognition and knowledge layer to assist the operations on equipment layer, e.g., preventive maintenance. Further, the application layer can supervise the control of the operations in the equipment layer when MCU can take place of PLC.The design premise of SCB in this research can help transform the manufacturing automation from Industry 3.0 to Industry 4.0. The intelligence can be installed in the single computer board as a function of edge computing while not changing the settings on the existing PLCs. However, functionalities of the edge computing for smart manufacturing should be recognized from the proposed 5-level architecture.

LITERATURE REVIEW ON SECURITY OF IOT

This paper reflects light on the IoT and its security aspects. Internet of things is an evolving automation in the world. As numerous gadgets are mingled together to form an interconnection of a data hub. IoT automation is incrementing day by day as the devices connected to the internet are increasing time to time. This paper discussed the various security parameters in which IoT network system acts a malicious component. Many researchers discussed about the security prespective of it but did not find the analytical solution. It is one of the astonishing fact that with emerging technology there would be security aspects associated with it and can be taken care from time to time. No network system in the world is 100 percent accurate in the functioning field.

Emulating home automation installations through component-based web technology

The Internet of Things mechanisms enable the management of home environments since they can be developed as IoT based information systems. From standard smart homes to automated buildings, including other kind of domotics and inmotics solutions, every system must be tested and validated before its installation. The current tools offered by IoT and home automation vendors lack in emulation features close to the real behavior of the devices. In many cases, delaying the verification actions until the hardware is acquired and installed may cause some drawbacks, for example, from the economic point of view. This paper presents a solution for emulating home automation environments which are based on the KNX standard and can be represented by architectures of devices. The emulation consist of developing virtual implementations of real devices which operate and communicate through web technology. The technology implementing these virtual devices allows us to develop components which can provide different type of data related to the installation (audio, video, text, animations, images, etc.). The architectures can be managed using web services and their behavior can be tested through web user interfaces showing the mentioned data. Furthermore, virtual and physical devices are connected to validate the interoperability between the real installation and the emulation.
