It has been shown that the qualitative test by catalysis of the iodine azide reaction for traces of sulphides can also be used for quantitative determinations. Quantitative estimation within approximately 25% of the true value can be achieved with the method described and this is considered to be a satisfactory degree of accuracy for such small values. Amounts as low as 0.05 μg of hydrogen sulphide as metallic sulphide can be determined in this way.
