One hundred patients had complete cardiac catheterization, including pressure measurement in all chambers and selective cineangiocardiography. Thirteen of this group had normal hemodynamics, and 87 had specifically defined single or multiple valve involvement. One hundred normal patients, ages 20 to 69, served as controls. Previously reported methods of "P" wave analysis failed to reveal a consistent method of separating normal patients from those with valvular disease.Theoretical consideration led to the conclusion that the terminal portion of the "P" wave in V1would best...
