An exploration of feasibility of the holistic therapy as a case in Northern India

Present paper attempts to explore the feasibility of anthropo therapy in field of the available treatment of breast cancer as a case. Although there is good treatments in oncology with the advances in radiological, cytological and immunohistochemistry diagnosis and requisite medico-pharmaceutical drugs, but why not traumatic conditions of the patients is cured and their better chance of survivorship could not be achievable even after hefty investment of money and time. The nexus of pharmaceutical business blossoms on the cause of trauma of the diseased, the women having breast cancer. In view of such circumstances, holistic therapy is urgently needed which can play a vital role to give relief from such trauma and make all therapies coordinated and more effective. At end, few cases on which it was applied and expected results achieved are also briefly reported for future upcoming research in India and the world.

Model-based system engineering in control education using HIL simulators

Nowadays, model-based and knowledge-based system engineering bring completely new demands also to the master degree teaching process and programs. Specifically, it is necessary to establish gluing technologies between individual master degree courses while full STEM education scope is covered. Since huge changes in educational system are often subject to complex, time demanding evaluation and approval process, there is usually significant delay between actual industrial needs and time when universities are able to deliver to the market engineers with required knowledge and curricula. Consequently, solutions which can be implemented in actual courses without huge investments of money and time is what educators should strive for. This paper shows how simple hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulators may help during the whole training period while respecting needs of already established courses dealing e.g. with modeling and simulation, control design, industrial IT and communication, control HW and electronics, sensors and actuators. The concept is demonstrated on several examples of already proven procedures in primary and second control courses.

A Study on Financial Literacy among College PG Students in Visakhapatnam City

Financial literacy is very crucial for making and financial decisions to manage money. These days it is found that in spite of the scholarships to the students, they are unable to save or invest money wisely. The term financial literacy was first coined in 1787 in the USA, when John Adams in a letter to Thomas Jefferson admitted the need for financial literacy for overcoming the confusion and widespread distress in America that had arisen due to ignorance towards credit, circulation and nature of coin. This study is done on the post-graduate students from the various colleges in Visakhapatnam city. The purpose of the study is to find the link between demographic factors such as age, gender and family background with the financial literacy of the students based upon the two factors namely financial awareness of various schemes and saving habits in those schemes. The questionnaire was distributed to 423 post-graduate college students of various colleges in the Visakhapatnam city. 392 questions were answered and analysed for the study.

Strengthening the Attraction of Foreign Direct Investment to Vietnam's Dak Lak Province in the New Context, Vietnam

Dak Lak is a province with tremendous socio-economic development potentials on the Red River Delta. Dak Lak is now one of the highest and fastest-growing provinces in northern Vietnam. The Dak Lak province has been planned to be placed in the capital's metropolitan region and the north-eastern entrance of the capital Ha Noi. Moreover, Dak Lak is situated on Con Minh - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh - Lang Son - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, two economic corridors. The province lies in the traffic system linked to provinces in the region, such as National Highway 1A, National Highway No.18, National Highway No. 38, the axis of Dak Lak to Lang Son, China; Cau, Duong, and Thai Binh waterways that link Dak Lak to the region's waterway port and maritime system. This is a highly positive aspect in the socio-economic growth and interactions between Dak Lak and neighboring communities. Dak Lak has a huge potential, in particular FDI for socio-etical development, to attract investment money. Nevertheless, in the present situation, Dak Lak has to sustain effective existing FDI with a number of possibilities but also a large number of obstacles and particularly during the industrial age of 4.0 and the current economic integration.

Raising of Resources from the Capital Market in India

Resources can be mobilized either for short term or for long term. Economy consists of huge number of enterprises and individuals, requirements of all of them differ. Some have surplus cash to save, while some other needs cash. Some firms/individuals wants to make good there short term liquidity requirements, some wants money for long term capital investment. So distinction can be made as to period for which one intends to lend or borrow. In this sense financial market is categorized into money market and capital markets. In Money market, period involved (for funds movement) is 1 year or less, while in capital markets period is generally more than 1 year. In this paper, we’ll be specifically looking at the different ways in which resources can be raised from the capital market in India.

By Accident or Design? Shenzhen as a Global Hub for Digital Entrepreneurs

By 2019, the south China coastal city of Shenzhen was recognized worldwide as a digital technology powerhouse. The media branded it a second Silicon Valley. Shenzhen annually registered record numbers of patents under the international Patent Cooperation Treaty. Incubators and accelerators supported an exploding number of start-ups in such diverse fields as medical devices, new materials, robotics, and artificial intelligence. In its early years, from 1981–93, the city’s GDP grew at an astonishing average 40 percent a year; that rate slowed to a still-impressive 16.3 percent for 2001–05 before settling at annual growth of 10 percent or less. In 2017, GDP hit CN¥2.2 trillion ($338 billion), higher than countries like Portugal or Ireland and double its 2011 output.1 Shenzhen became headquarters to multiple billion-dollar companies, and to 65 percent of global smartphone brands. With 90 per- cent of its companies in private hands, Shenzhen held pride of place as China’s capital of private industry. Investment money poured into what had become China’s wealthiest city. Yet barely 40 years earlier, Shenzhen had been a backward area of fields, rice paddies, and fishing villages. How had China pulled off the seemingly impossible feat of building a world-class city in the blink of an eye? What accounted for its outsize expertise in digital technology? Why did entrepreneurs from China and abroad flock to live there? More specifically, how did government and public policies contribute to its status as a global mecca for digital entrepreneurs? Was Shenzhen a one-off, or might any government, through careful planning, create such a phenomenon?

Realizing the "40 by 2022" Commitment from the United Nations High-Level Meeting on the Fight to End Tuberculosis: What Will It Take to Meet Rapid Diagnostic Testing Needs?

The potential gains from full adoption of World Health Organization (WHO)-recommended rapid diagnostics (WRDs) for tuberculosis (TB) are significant, but there is no current analysis of the additional investment needed to reach this goal. We sought to estimate the necessary investment in instruments, tests, and money, using Xpert MTB/RIF (Xpert), which detects Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and tests for resistance to rifampicin (RIF), as an example. An existing calculator for TB diagnostic needs was adapted to estimate the Xpert needs for a group of 24 countries with high TB burdens. This analysis assumed that countries will achieve the case-finding commitments agreed to at the recent United Nations High-Level Meeting on the Fight to End Tuberculosis, and that countries would adopt the WHO-recommended algorithm in which all people with signs and symptoms of TB receive an Xpert test. When compared to the current investments in these countries, this baseline model revealed that countries would require a 4-fold increase in the number of Xpert modules and a 6-fold increase in the number of Xpert test cartridges per year to meet their full testing needs. The incremental cost of the additional instruments for these countries would total approximately US$474 million, plus an incremental cost each year of cartridges of approximately $586 million, or a 5-fold increase over current investments. A sensitivity analysis revealed a variety of possible changes under alternative scenarios, but most of these changes either do not meet the global goals, are unrealistic, or would result in even greater investment needs. These findings suggest that a major investment is needed in WRD capacity to implement the recommended diagnostic algorithm for TB and reach the case-finding commitments by 2022.

A Framework for Learning From Null Results

A substantial number of randomized trials of educational interventions that have been conducted over the past two decades have produced null results, with either no impact or an unreliable estimate of impact on student achievement or other outcomes of interest. The investment of time and money spent implementing such trials warrants more useful information than simply “this didn’t work.” In this article, we propose a framework for defining null results and interpreting them and then propose a method for systematically examining a set of potential reasons for a study’s findings. The article builds on prior work on the topic and synthesizes it into a common framework designed to help the field improve both the design and interpretation of randomized trials.

Costs and Benefits of Initial Certification for Emergency Medicine Residency Graduates.

Graduates of emergency medicine residency programs can seek certification from the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), yet the costs and perceived value by residents is not clear. This report sought to better define the value of board certification by asking physicians taking the ABEM Oral Certification Examination (OCE) to describe its costs (eg, time, money) and perceived benefits. A descriptive, cross-sectional, voluntary, anonymous survey was administered to physicians taking the 2018 spring and fall ABEM OCEs. Response frequencies were used to report response rates. There were 2016 physicians who participated in the 2018 OCEs, of whom 1565 (78%) completed a survey. With respect to preparation, 38% (599 of 1565 responses) spent more than 30 hours preparing for the examination. Regarding the expense of preparing for the examination, 21% (328) spent nothing, 50% (776) spent less than $1,000, and 2% (38) spent more than $3,000. Most physicians (80%, 1254) reported a learning benefit to preparing for and taking the OCE. There were 49% (765) of respondents who reported that preparing for the examination reinforced their knowledge of emergency medicine; 20% (311) reported no learning benefit. Most physicians (92%, 1442) reported that ABEM certification provided a career benefit, the most common of which was more career opportunities (69%, 1076). Initial certification requires a considerable investment of time and money. Physicians seeking initial ABEM certification found both learning and professional benefits, with the most frequently reported being reinforcement of medical knowledge and more career opportunities.

Online Explorative Study on the Learning Uses of Virtual Reality Among Early Adopters.

Virtual reality (VR) has shown great educational potential because it makes it possible to simulate any desired situation or event, thus playing an important role in addressing current educational challenges. Despite the unlimited learning possibilities that VR may offer, unless users are willing to apply virtual devices to education, the investment of time, money, and effort will be fruitless. It is therefore crucial to assess the educational interest of the first generation of VR users and to identify their current needs. To this end, in this study we designed an online questionnaire and applied it through the SaaS (Software as a service) of a private server. The sample consisted of 117 early VR adopters recruited via a main portal of communication and information technologies in Spain. In order to engage participants, we posted a thread in the main forum, which is dedicated to the advances and potential uses of VR. Once the responses were gathered, we analyzed the relationship between 12 variables (mean contrasts with Snedecor's F, and contingency analysis with chi-square and Sommer's d). The results showed that the current profile of a VR user is a male over 35 years old, with university studies, and who has purchased his viewer recently (<1 year). As for the learning and teaching applications that these users were interested in, only 13.7% of the participants in this study use VR for educational purposes, although 28.2% were interested, indicating that perhaps the lack of applications or learning experiences may be hampering the use of VR within education. Almost half of the early adopters surveyed would like to learn using VR technology and are somehow optimistic about the relationship between VR and education, particularly those who are younger.

Is My Patient Overwhelmed?: Determining Thresholds for Acceptable Burden of Treatment Using Data From the ComPaRe e-Cohort

ObjectiveTo estimate the highest burden of treatment beyond which patients with chronic conditions consider their current investments of time and effort in health care unsustainable. Patients and MethodsWe used data collected between January 1, 2017 and October 1, 2018 in the Community of Patients for Research (ComPaRe), an ongoing e-cohort of adult patients with chronic conditions in France. We matched participants’ answers to the Treatment Burden Questionnaire (TBQ) and to a Yes/No anchor question: “Think about all the things you do to care for yourself. Do you think you could continue investing the same amount of time, energy, and money in your health care lifelong?” We defined the Patient Acceptable Symptom State (PASS) for the burden of treatment as the TBQ score below which 75% of patients reported an acceptable burden state. ResultsWe analyzed data for 2413 patients (1781 [73.8%] women, 1248 [51.7%] multimorbid, median age: 48 (interquartile range, 36-59] years) enrolled in ComPaRe. Of these, 38% (917 of 2413) reported that they would be unable to continue the same investment of energy, time, and money in health care lifelong. The PASS for the burden of treatment was at 39% of the maximal score (ie, TBQ score = 59/150; 95% CI, 52-64) Using these results, clinicians can detect patients at risk for becoming overwhelmed by their medical care by identifying patients with TBQ scores of 59 or higher. ConclusionAbout 40% of patients with chronic conditions report being unable to sustain current investments of energy, time, and money in health care lifelong. The PASS for treatment burden provides a practical yardstick to help clinicians and researchers interpret scores for burden of treatment.

Embedding value-for-money in practice: A case study of a health pooled fund programme implemented in conflict-affected South Sudan

In recent times, there has been an increasing drive to demonstrate value for money (VfM) for investments made in public health globally. However, there is paucity of information on practical insights and best practices that have helped implementing organisations to successfully embed VfM in practice for programming and evaluation. In this article, we discuss strengths and weaknesses of approaches that been used and insights on best practices to manage for, demonstrate, and compare VfM, using a health pooled fund programme implemented in conflict-affected South Sudan as case study supported by evidence reported in the literature while critiquing adequacy of the available approaches in this setting. An expanded and iterative process framework to guide VfM embedding for health programming and evaluation is then proposed. In doing so, this article provides a very relevant one-stop source for critical insight into how to embed VfM in practice. Uptake and scale-up of the proposed framework can be essential in improving VfM and aid effectiveness which will ultimately contribute to progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Temporal dynamics of solidarity and corruption-reporting practices: an appraisal of Durkheim’s theoretical assumptions in Nigeria

ABSTRACTThis article reviews how citizens’ corruption-reporting practices have challenged some established assertions of the classical thoughts of Durkheim on solidarity to trigger ‘imodoye’ – the third-tier solidarity in Nigeria. Gleaning data from secondary sources, it acknowledges the disclosure-fostering bonds of the mechanical (first-tier) solidarity and the disclosure-suppressing anomie of the organic (second-tier) solidarity. The widely presumed contempt of Buhari for impunity and his use of whistleblowers to make criminals refill the treasury they had treacherously emptied distinguish ‘imodoye’ solidarity as a new norm of reward-driven and disclosure-enabling anticorruption proposal. This article concludes that rewards neutralize the fear of reprisal and intensify the culture of whistle-blowing. The government should establish Imodoye Public Agricultural Settlement Agenda (IPASA) as a prison-extension facility for productive-payback services and Ownership Verification Number (OVN) to make anti-graft agencies track criminal investment of stolen money in the real-estate corridor.

Development of guidelines for the implementation of sustainable enterprise resource planning systems

Abstract Sustainable Enterprise Resource Planning is an enterprise system that incorporates essential entities of the corporate sustainable value chain into a centralised system. It is a massive information system, and its deployment requires a considerable investment of money and time. Unwell plan, limited resources, and weak commitment can lead to the failure of system implementation. Few studies have discussed the concept of Sustainable Enterprise Resource Planning systems. However, little research has focused on the implementation aspect of the system, especially on proposing a general plan that can guide practitioners to implement the Sustainable Enterprise Resource Planning systems. To address this gap, this study aimed to develop comprehensive guidelines that provide steps and activities for implementing the system. The guidelines are developed using a conceptual research method that relies on the examination of literature to find and integrate various concepts, including sustainability aspects, project management, organisational decision levels, and stratc management. The method envelopes three phases: (i) Collection of steps and activities from the existing sustainability and ERP guidelines, (ii) Classification and evaluation of the identified steps and activities, and (iii) Identification of steps and activities required for the guidelines. The proposed guidelines entail three main modules comprising implementation steps, levels, and activities. The results would be useful for practitioners in giving a formal direction to efficiently implement Sustainable Enterprise Resource Planning systems in their corporate value chains.

Assessment of the Internet of Things Projects on the Real Estate Market

This paper discusses the concept of the Internet of Things. It analyzes the existing definitions, and introduces a new definition of this concept. In this research study, the experience of the Internet of Things in the world has been analyzed, the possibilities of deflationary development of the economy have been identified with the use of the Internet of Things. The paper presents directions for important qualitative changes in economy and for organizational and technological transformations of production, which may be induced by the development of the Internet of Things. The “smart home” system market has been examined. Its potential has been identified for Russian companies that work in the field of information and telecommunication technology connected with the development of the Internet of Things. To justify the efficiency of money investments into the “smart home” system and services, the algorithm of cost estimation for such systems, which can be used in making a decision about investing, is proposed. The authors conducted the review of the typical projects offered with the “smart home” system. The power law dependence of the unit cost of the system installation from the floor space of the object has been received. The internal rate of return on investment for the introduction of the “smart home” system has been identified at the level of 50%.

Reproductive CRISPR does not cure disease.

Given recent advancements in CRISPR-Cas9 powered genetic modification of gametes and embryos, both popular media and scientific articles are hailing CRISPR's life-saving, curative potential for people with serious monogenic diseases. But claims that CRISPR modification of gametes or embryos, a form of germline engineering, has therapeutic value are deeply mistaken. This article explains why reproductive uses of CRISPR, and germline engineering more generally, do not treat or save lives that would otherwise have a genetic disease. Reproductive uses of CRISPR create healthy people whose existence is not inevitable in the first place. Creating healthy lives has distinct and lesser moral value from saving or curing lives that would otherwise have genetic disease. The real value in reproductive uses of CRISPR is in helping a very limited population of people have healthy, genetically related children. This diminished value cannot compete with the concerns in opposition to germline engineering, nor is it worth the investment of research money.

Payment of loans that experience difficulties in repayment or often called bad credit is a very detrimental thing for the bank, with the occurrence of bad credit the bank does not have the maximum ability to make money for investment. Choosing the right customer must go through the right analysis because the decision to approve or disagree with the loan is the main point that determines the possibility of bad credit. This study aims to classify eligible customers to obtain loans by taking into account existing parameters such as age, total income, number of families, monthly expenditure average, education level and others. This study uses a data mining classification method with a neural network model, to assess the accuracy of data processing using rapid miners then proceed with measurements using confusion matrix, ROC curve. The results of the neural network algorithm after going through confusion matrix testing, the ROC curve shows a very high accuracy value, and the dominant value of AUC and algorithm. The accuracy value is 98.24% with AUC of 0.979

Benefits and Risks of Shadow Money: Evidence From the Chinese WMP Market

We study how competition for shadow money impacts banking stability. In our model, banks compete for insured depositors and uninsured shadow money investors and default endogenously. We estimate and calibrate our model to the Chinese banking sector and we find that shadow money investors are run-prone while depositors are not. Multiple equilibria emerge and may lead to severe financial distress with large welfare losses. Negative shocks to assets underlying shadow money amplify financial fragility. Furthermore, rollover costs can cause runs on shadow money. Imposing capital requirements on shadow money improves banking stability, but the effectiveness is limited.
