Two patients with intramural ulcerated leiomyomas in the fundus of the stomach who presented with massive upper gastrointestinal bleeding were studied by celiac angiography. The angiograms demonstrated both intraluminal extravasation of contrast material from the ulcer and a tumor blush surrounding the ulcer. This combination of ulcer and tumor stain suggests the diagnosis of bleeding intramural leiomyoma. However, one must exercise caution in view of the normal structures in the left upper quadrant which can produce a tumor blush.
