Summary 1. Anomalies of intestinal rotationand mesenteric fixation are discussed, and nine cases are reported of patients who were treated at the Raymond Blank Memorial Hospital for Children from 1947 to 1953. 2. The history, incidence, and embryologyof these conditions are briefly reviewed. 3. These anomalies are discussed indetail according to the classification of Dott, with the addition of paraduodenal hernias to his classification in the light of more recent thinking on the subject. 4. The fact that many congenital anomalies of intestinal disposition which present widely divergent appearances at operation have a common pathogenesis is emphasized. 5. Indications for surgical intervention in patients with such anomalies are enumerated, and accepted surgical procedures for their management are discussed.
