This study aims to fill this void by exploring how the Sufi interpretation of the Qur'an influences contemporary cultural identity and political dynamics. The methods used in this study are multidisciplinary approaches, including analysis of Sufi literature, art, and social practices. The study's findings suggest that Sufism has a significant role in shaping cultural narratives, promoting tolerance and social justice, and providing a framework of thought that influences political discourse in Muslim communities. This study recommends that future studies focus more on Sufism's contribution to Islamic political thought and its relevance in the modern context. This research also emphasizes the importance of considering the spiritual dimension in analyzing cultural and political phenomena to understand the role of religion in shaping the social and political landscape more comprehensively.

"The Semantic and Linguistic Methodology of the Nasafis in the Interpreting Surah Al-Mulk: A Comparative Study."

Quranic interpretation has been a significant subject of scholarly debate throughout Islamic history, as we find that many interpreters, scholars, and enthusiasts have hurried to provide interpretations of the Quranic text. Among these prominent scholars who have greatly contributed to this field are Abu al-Barakat al-Nasafi and Abu Hafs al-Nasafi. Both scholars adopted distinctive methods in interpreting the Holy Quran, providing valuable insights into their understanding of the Quran's message, values, beliefs, and legislation. Both emphasized rationality and logic in their interpretations, specifically of Surah Al-Mulk, aiming to reconcile religious teachings with philosophical ideas, using a special and organized approach that distinguishes each from the other: they may share methodological and stylistic points, yet in many aspects, their interpretative approaches differ, whether methodological or explanatory, all with the aim of reconciling the apparent contradictions within the religious text in their Nasafi style. This research addresses the following key topics: An introductory overview of "Abu al-Barakat al-Nasafi" and "Abu Hafs al-Nasafi", The methodologies of Abu al-Barakat al-Nasafi and Abu Hafs al-Nasafi in interpreting Surah Al-Mulk., Comparative analysis: similarities and differences in the interpretations of Surah Al-Mulk by Abu al-Barakat and Abu Hafs.

Character of Ecological People in the Quran

The harmonious relationship between humans and their environment can be likened to a mutually beneficial relationship. This perspective views humans as an inseparable element of their environment, with an emphasis on the human obligation to care for and ensure the survival of nature. In return, nature will provide benefits to fulfil human needs. This research aims to actualise ecological verses in human life and produce the proposition of theological insanity from the perspective of the Quran. The following research method is a qualitative approach focusing on library research. As a guide and reference, it uses library data sources. When viewed from the method of analysis, it can be classified as descriptive research that describes information based on events and facts and relates it to explanations from related sources according to the topic of this research. In analysing Quranic interpretation, the following includes thematic or maudhûi interpretation research, with steps, namely collecting Quranic verses related to humans, the environment and nature. Furthermore, it provides interpretation and understanding of the verses in question through the application of various contemporary interpretation sources combined with other sources. This research produces a proposition of ecological human character in the Quran, which includes Khalifah, Hikmah, and Mizan. Thus, three things are interrelated to create the character of the rahmatan li al 'alamin people.

In Defense of Rationality: Mahmud Yunus’ Interpretation of The Qur'an on Religious Tolerance

This article aims to explore the concept of religious tolerance according to Mahmud Yunus as presented in his work, Tafsir Qur’an Karim. This research is crucial for examining how Yunus rationalizes the concept of religious tolerance in his interpretation of Qur’anic verses. Mahmud Yunus’s interpretation in Tafsir Qur’an Karim is significance for understanding religious tolerance by integrating theological values with a rational approach, which is particularly relevant in a pluralistic society. Based on this premise, the article addresses two research questions: first, how does Mahmud Yunus interpret verses related to religious tolerance in Tafsir Qur’an Karim? Second, what form of rationality does Mahmud Yunus employ in his understanding of religious tolerance in Tafsir Qur’an Karim? This research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing both primary and secondary sources. Content analysis is used to examine these sources. The findings of this study reveal that Mahmud Yunus considers religious tolerance to be integral part of Islamic teachings as explained in the Qur’an. Additionally, Yunus asserts that the practice of religious teachings by Muslims should be based on critical values and religious texts. Undoubtedly, Mahmud Yunus’s interpretation is influenced by his educational and socio-historical background, particularly the Islamic revival movement in Minangkabau.

Thoroughly Exploring Secularism in an Islamic Perspective: History, Dynamics, and Interpretation of the Qur'an

Secularism, a concept that emerged in the West and spread throughout the world, including Indonesia, has become a subject of debate in relation to religion, especially Islam. This research aims to explore the definition of secularism, its development in various fields, the changes that arise as a result, the interpretation of Qur'anic verses related to secularism, and scholars' perspectives on this matter. Through a qualitative method, this research utilises secondary data sources, such as journal articles and books, to provide a deeper understanding of this topic. The results show that secularism is considered as the separation of human affairs from God's affairs in all aspects of life, including education. Yusuf Qardhawi expressed his concern over the influence of secularism and atheism in the Islamic world, fuelled by colonialism and modernity. In the context of Qur'anic verses, this study found references to secularism in Surah Al-Isra' and Surah Hud. In this context, the contrast between worldly and afterlife orientations, as well as warnings against mere worldly pleasures, take centre stage. As such, this study provides a deep insight into how Islam understands and interprets secularism.

GOVERNMENT COALITION PARTIES' INTEREST CONFLICT AND THEIR ETHICS BASED ON SURAH AL-MUMTAHANAH

A multi-party system of governance, which is based on idiosyncratically and culturally diverse identities, is so prone to disintegration that it will erode public trust. Government confidence and authority declined as a result of problems that emerged as government coalitions were formed. The most notable of these included the rejection of influence, the politicization of the law, the arrogance of officials, the repudiation of offices, and the accumulation of wealth in unwarranted ways. The author's motivation to solve the formula problem, "What is the ethics of coalition multi-party government from the perspective of the Quran's interpretation of Surah Al-Mumtahanah verses eight and nine?" stems from the aforementioned issue. Descriptive and qualitative analysis research on the ethical normative analysis conducted in the Republic of Indonesia's cabinet between 2019 and 2024 is associated with the principles of Quranic ethics, which call for cooperation. The novel observation made by the author is that the coalition is a close-knit political organization that does not marginalize friends and instead stands tall and sits low, unlike a two-legged, power-sharing political party. Coalitions also foster cooperation, which advances mankind, fosters justice, and unites people.

Literacy Culture About Sociology of Contemporary Religious Texts: A Study of Interpretation of The Quran in Indonesia

Quraish Shihab’s role in modern Quranic interpretation in Indonesia is the backdrop explanation for the choice of this article’s major object of research. His work was often studied in academics in the field of Quranic interpretation and Indonesian Islam in the early stages of the development of theme interpretation in this country. This article aims to provide a solution to the research question: is the substance orientation of the thematic interpretation in books by Quraish Shihab regarding sociologists, in accordance with the theory of thematic interpretation? Content analysis and comparative methodologies are employed. Al-lawn wa al-ittijâh, the style or approach and direction of interpretation, serve as the foundation for content analysis. According to the research presented in this article, Quraish Shihab’s theme interpretation analysis in the field of sociology may be divided into three categories: internal analysis, extrinsic analysis, and study of the findings of earlier researchers. There are 18 types of analysis, with the following details: 12 of them (67%) include internal analysis, 2 (11%) extrinsic analysis, and 4 (22%) analysis based on the opinions of prior researchers. Quraish Shihab prioritizes interpretations that are implications of the themes discussed in order to be a workable solution in the contemporary context, based on the spirit of the Quran, while Dawam Rahardjo and Nur Kholis Setiawan prioritize interpretations that are implications of the themes discussed. Quraish Shihab also explains more about the ontological aspects of the themes he discusses and relates them to various internal aspects of the themes. The sociological interpretation of the Qur’an represents a method of fusing scientific and religious literature. The concern with the process of the relationship between the Qur’an and science, according to a number of experts in the field of science integration in the Indonesian Islamic community, is that science is justified by verses from the Quran even though scientists were the ones who discovered it. Even “possibly” a scientific theory cannot “read” the text of the Quran. Even if science and the Qur’an were on equal footing, neither could adequately explain how the Qur’an and nature are comprehended. In light of this, it is unnecessary to emphasize that the Quran is a source of knowledge.

This study aim to explores the characteristics and uniqueness of Tafsir Al-Ibriz, authored by KH. Bisri Mustofa, a prominent figure in the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) tradition. Tafsir Al-Ibriz stands out in the landscape of Quranic exegesis in Indonesia due to its distinctive approach and methodology. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research delves into the interpretive methods, theological perspectives, and socio-cultural impacts of this tafsir. The findings indicate that Tafsir Al-Ibriz combines textual and contextual interpretation with a distinctive mystical and philosophical nuance, reflecting KH. Bisri Mustofa's unique perspective in understanding the messages of the Quran. Additionally, the tafsir demonstrates the influence of Sufi teachings in interpreting Quranic verses. Other unique characteristics of Tafsir Al-Ibriz include its emphasis on cultural preaching, particularly to the NU community, the use of Javanese language hierarchy known for its politeness (unggah-ungguh), the pesantren-specific style of translating Arabic texts, an objective interpretation of jihad devoid of political bias, adherence to the Shafi'i school of jurisprudence, and a mystical yet scientific approach. The theoretical implications of this research provide new insights into the diversity of interpretative approaches to the Quran in the Islamic world, highlighting the spiritual and philosophical dimensions presented by Tafsir Al-Ibriz. These findings also contribute to our understanding of the role of Sufism in the Islamic exegesis tradition and how theological thought can influence Quranic interpretation. This study aims to lay the groundwork for further research on classical and contemporary tafsir works, as well as deepen the relevance of Sufi thought in contemporary Quranic understanding.

AVERROES’ “EPISTLE ON DIVINE KNOWLEDGE” AS A DIALECTICAL WORK: BETWEEN FORBIDDEN INTERPRETATION AND PHILOSOPHICAL TRAINING

AbstractAverroes’ “Epistle on Divine Knowledge” presents four different dialogues on two textual levels. These dialogues, the syllogistic structure of the arguments in them, and their use of contradictories indicate that the “Epistle on Divine Knowledge” is structured nearly entirely in accordance with the descriptions of dialectic we find in Averroes’ commentaries on Aristotle's Topica. Accordingly, Averroes’ solution to the question of how God can have universal knowledge of particular things is a dialectical account of the distinction between Divine and human knowledge. Moreover, at a crucial point in the “Epistle on Divine Knowledge” Averroes refers to Aristotle, Metaphysics Β, which he considers to a dialectical exposition of questions on metaphysics. This reference suggests that Averroes sees the “Epistle on Divine Knowledge” as a kind of dialectical inquiry aimed at answering questions that arise at the outset of studying metaphysics. So, while it is possible to view the “Epistle on Divine Knowledge” as a dialectical interpretation of Quran 67:14, its primary purpose is to introduce its readers to metaphysical speculation. Thus it does not violate Averroes’ legal prohibition given in the Decisive Treatise against declaring dialectical interpretations in books available to the general public.

Hermeneutics, as a new method of interpreting the Qur'an, is expected to be able to reveal things that cannot be known with other forms of interpretation. The author strives for this research to examine various hermeneutical method approaches in Islamic studies. The technique used in this research is a literature study. The results obtained from this research are that hermeneutics can be interpreted as an interpretation method that pays attention to the context of the words of a text and the cultural context of thought. Hermeneutics is considered to have a distinctive characteristic, namely the development of contextualization values of a text to be studied. Hermeneutics in the Islamic study of the interpretation of the Al-Qur'an finds the correspondence between the verses of the Al Qur'an in science. Penerapan Kaidah Ushul Fiqih dalam Menafsirkan Teks Al-Qur’an

This article discusses the application of fundamental principles of Islamic jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) in the interpretation of the text of the Quran. Several principles are discussed in this article, including 'Al- Ibroh bi Umumi Lafdz Laa bi Khususis Sabab' (generalization by wording rather than specificity of the cause), the principle of 'Amr and Nahyi' (command and prohibition), 'Mafhum Muwafaqoh and Mukholafah' (conformity and contradiction in meaning), 'Al-Aslu fi Ashya' Ibahah' (the presumption of permissibility in matters where the law is unclear), and 'Jalbu al-Maṣâliḣ wa Dar`u al-Mafâsid' (promotion of benefits and prevention of harm). This article extensively discusses each of these principles of Usul al-Fiqh and highlights the importance of their application within the context of Quranic interpretation. The research underscores that the application of these principles aids in interpreting the Quranic text more accurately, avoiding common interpretational errors, and understanding the Islamic laws contained within the sacred text. In conclusion, the application of Usul al-Fiqh principles is crucial for ensuring a correct and relevant understanding of the Quran. This approach not only assists in avoiding misinterpretations but also aids in comprehending the Islamic jurisprudence encapsulated within this holy scripture.

This Article is to discuss that although Imām Hamd bin Muhammad, Al-Khattābī (D. 388 AH) did not write any specific book regarding interpretation and explanation of the Qur’anic verses but his commentary & interpretive points on Qur’anic verses found in his books, have been utilized, adverted and quoted by the prominent and renown scholars in the field of tafsīr in their commentary books. They considered him as a mufasīr. Some evidences & precedents are hereby presented from their books. Imām Al-Khattābī used admitted principles& different methodologies of tafsīr while describing these interpretive points. His exegetical points consist on both kinds of tafsīr i.e tafsīr bi-al-ma'thur(tafsīr bi'r-Riwayah or received tafsīr) and tafsīr bi-al-ra'y(tafsīr bi'd-dirayah or tafsīr by opinion). So, the utilization of Imām Al-Khattābī s exegetical and interpretive points by the well-known and famous commentators of the Holy Quran in their books, is the sufficient and authentic argument and proof which is discussed here that his work on interpretation of Qur’anic verses as well as Uloom-ul-Qur’ān may be appreciated and Imām Al-Khattābī may righteously be considered as a commentator of Holy Quran or Mufasir.

Educational Philosophy: Reflections on the Teacher's Personality in the Story of the Prophet Ibrahim AS in the Qur'an

Teacher personality is one side that always be in the spotlight, teachers become good role model for students or for society. Teachers should be able to keep themselves by maintaining their professionalism safely, wisely, so that people and learners are easier to imitate teachers who have a whole personality and not a split personality. The researcher studied the stories in the Qur'an about the stories of the prophet Ibrahim AS as well as relating to existing educational theories. Researcher argued that it would be good if trying to find the profile of teacher personality in the Qur'an, because with the historical approach can learn everything that had ever happened as ibrah and the examples for teachers in the present day. The story of the research sample was the stories of the prophet Ibrahim As that was contained in the Qur'an. This research included library research because researcher tried to find the personality of the prophet Ibrahim in the Qur'an using content analysis. Researcher examined by using books of Quranic interpretation and then related it to theories of teacher personality, then drawing conclusion. The teacher personality profiles can conclude from the stories of the prophet Ibrahim in the Qur'an: (a) steadiness and personal integrity, (b) Alternatives thinking, (c) creative, (d) courageous, (e) honest, (f) rational and logical (g) friendly, opened and humble (h) Patience and sincere. Religious behavior and understanding of the Qur'an and Hadith of Indonesian Muslims before the presence of the internet referred to religious teachers who are often referred to as ustadz, kiai, ulama or other designations that imply individuals who have intellectual competence related to religion. Various questions and problems related to rituals or spirituality were asked directly to the owner of the religious authority. Along with the development of technology, with social media as one of its strong characteristics, the religious authority has shifted. In the era of disruption, social media provides practicality in accessing information related to religious issues and knowledge of the Qur'an and Hadith. This article aims to conduct a classification review of religious narrative patterns on the cariustad.id platform, which is a service of the Center for the Study of the Qur'an (PSQ) as a medium of interaction between Muslims and ustadz. Through a qualitative method, this study traces the trend of questions and answers to problems faced by users through content analysis related to understanding the Qur'an and Hadith. As a result, the problems faced by users are dominant in the aspects of religious rituals, social affairs, interpretation of Qur'anic verses and Qur'anic studies. The answers given by the ustadz use rajih (strong) arguments from both the Qur'an and Hadith. In addition, the responses of the ustadz tend to carry the spirit of tolerance, moderate values, and non-rigid interpretation
