The main directions and results of the activity of the famous talented scientist and teacher of the Lviv Geodetic School, professor A.L. Ostrovsky. On January 19, 2023, the Lviv geodetic community honored the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ostrovsky Apollinariy Lvovich – an outstanding scientist, professor, teacher known in Ukraine and abroad. Professor A. L. Ostrovsky published more than 200 scientific works, dozens of methodical developments in geodesy, topography; instrument science, he owns 11 copyright certificates and inventions. The birth of the Lviv School of Refraction is connected with the then professors of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute A. D. Motornyy and M. K. Mygal, and the first studies of the influence of atmospheric refraction on geodetic measurements were initiated by A. L. Ostrovsky To a large extent, the success in this work was brought about by the scientific activity of the employees of the branch research laboratory, which was managed by Apollinariy Lvovych in 1979–2006. This is how the Lviv Geodetic School of Refraction, known in the scientific world, was created. For many years, Prof. A. L. Ostrovsky headed the regional specialized Council for the defense of doctoral theses in geodesy, actively worked in the Educational and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine, in the editorial boards of all scientific journals on geodesy and engineering geodesy published in Ukraine, and was the first editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Geodynamics. He was the scientific supervisor of almost 30 applicants who worked on candidate and doctoral theses. Among the pupils and students of Prof. A. L. Ostrovsky was an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ya.S. Yatskiv, more than ten leading geodesist professors, many heads of geodetic enterprises and institutions in Ukraine and abroad. The fruitful scientific, pedagogical and professional activity of Prof. A. L. Ostrovsky brought him well-deserved respect in the scientific world and geodetic production, and was awarded high titles – Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, “Honorary Surveyor of the USSR”, “Honorary Surveyor of Ukraine”, awarded with the Order of Merit III degree, and many honorary awards and medals. Professor A. L. Ostrovsky was a scholarship recipient of the President of Ukraine. Evidence of the unparalleled authority and deep respect on the part of the scientific geodetic community for A.L. Ostrovsky is the fact that he was elected as the head and honorary chairman of the organizing committee of the International Scientific and Technical Symposium “Geodetic Environmental Monitoring: GPS and GIS Technologies”, which has been held annually for many years worked in Alushta (Crimea).

Information is provided on the XXIII International Scientific Symposium "Integration of Archaeological and Ethnographic Research" held on October 26-27, 2022 in Tyumen. A review of a number of reports (58 reports in total) included in the sections of the program - “Historiographic aspects of the interaction of archaeology and ethnography in the reconstruction of ancient and medieval history”, “Results of practical work in the areas of integration of historical disciplines”, “Ethnoarchaeological research. Theory, methodology, sources”. The symposium was organized by the institutions of Omsk, Pavlodar and Tyumen and was held on the basis of the Tyumen Scientific Center of the SB RAS. Scientists from Russia, Armenia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Czech Republic took part in its work in full-time and part-time form.

Highlights of the 3rd international BCG symposium: 100th anniversary of the first administration of BCG

2021 was the year of the 100th anniversary of the first administration of the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) to a human being. It was the start of a long journey of the world's most widely used vaccine and the oldest vaccine still in use. More than 4 billion children have been vaccinated with BCG for protection against tuberculosis. However, over the years it became apparent that BCG also has beneficial non-specific effects. As such, it provides protection against various heterologous infectious and non-infectious diseases and is used to treat non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. As BCG was developed at the Institut Pasteur de Lille by Albert Calmette and Camille Guérin, the Institute has celebrated this important anniversary with an international scientific symposium on all aspects of BCG, held from November 17 to 19, 2021 at the Institut Pasteur de Lille. It covered BCG against tuberculosis and described novel vaccine approaches, the effect of BCG against heterologous infections, including BCG and COVID-19, the effect of BCG against cancer, and BCG against auto-immune and inflammatory diseases. To discuss these areas, the symposium gathered close to 200 participants from all five continents, 2/3 on-line. This article presents the highlights of this 3rd International Symposium on BCG.

Planovsky

The International Poetic and Cultural Manifestation “Ante Popovski – Ante’s quill” – a traditional event that is yet to become a synonym for the true values of the Macedonian literary reality

The text raises the question of the significance of literary manifestations for literary reality. The thesis is that the significance of a specific literary manifestation in this digital age is not predominantly conditioned by its format and how conventional or modern it is, but by whether its mission is primarily based on aesthetic and literary criteria and consequently, by its content – how much new impulses it gives to the literary life. As a confirmation of this perception, the text highlights the international poetic and cultural manifestation “Ante Popovski – Ante’s Quill”, which has been part of the Macedonian literary reality for four years. Although it is quite new, with an aspiration to become traditional manifestation, and although it is organized in a conventional format and program, without pretentious efforts for non-standard program contents, it is already recognizable on the Macedonian cultural map, as an event that simultaneously seeks to invest in the valorization and affirmation of the lasting values of the Macedonian culture, to promote the Macedonian literary production, to enable less affirmed authors to emerge from the shadows of living literary monuments and to encourage literary science. Moreover, the text analyzes and valorizes the achievements of this year’s edition of the manifestation. Particular emphasis is placed on the international scientific symposium which posed key and hitherto unactualized questions about the creative work of one of the greatest Macedonian authors of the 20th century – Ante Popovski. At the same time, the concept of the manifestation is analyzed, which is constantly evolving, enabling it to be an event that leaves a mark and can lead to happenings that will one day have to be written down in literary history.

HIGHER EDUCATION OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES AT THE UNIVERSITY: GENERALIZATION OF EXPERIENCE

The article reveals the experience of the Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University in the context of organizing the educational process with applicants for higher education with special needs. Attention is focused on educational-rehabilitation and social-educational support of applicants for higher education with special needs. It is noted that the provision of education and social development of applicants of this category is based on the principle of “equal rights at equal opportunities”, and the level of education is an indicator of the priority of universal values and the achieved level of inclusive development.
 The priority directions of the university activity in the context of introduction of inclusive education are characterized: creation of an inclusive educational space; removal of mental barriers on the way to higher education; training all participants in the best ways to maintain diversity; development of communication culture in the team (оrganizational culture); formation of a perspective of the team and social partners on the nature and feasibility of inclusive development of higher education; formation of inclusive competence of teachers; development of inclusive competence of applicants; acquisition of information about the main difficulties in learning and life of applicants for higher education with special needs; conducting classes that are clear to all (educational policy); overcoming the social and psychological barriers to access to inclusive education for young people with special needs; formation of mutual assistance skills in the student body; formation of skills of applicants’ inclusion in the micro-society of HEI; formation of skills of inclusion of students in the sphere of public life (іnclusive practice).
 The work of the Research Laboratory of Inclusive Pedagogy (Faculty of Preschool and Special Education) and the Center for Social and Educational Integration and Inclusive Rehabilitation and Social Tourism “Without Barriers” (Faculty of Social and Psychological Education) іs analyzed.
 Significant achievements in the field of student research are presented.
 The results of the First International Scientific and Practical Symposium on “Actual Problems of Implementing Inclusive Rehabilitation and Social Tourism in Ukraine” which was held in Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University were presented, one of which is a plan for the implementation of Inclusive Rehabilitation and Social Tourism in Ukraine as a social and rehabilitation service and its testing in Cherkasy region as a pilot region in the framework of the National Action Plan for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
 The implementation of the program of the Center “Discovering the world together” is presented, the main purpose of which is the cultural and emotional development of young person, his formation on the path to self-improvement as well as the Student Bureau of Inclusive Tourism, one of the main purpose of this type of activity is to create routes for inclusive tourism in Cherkasy region.
 The prospects of the university's activity with students with special needs are defined.

Call for Nominations for Council and Officers of the International Association for Plant Taxonomy

The Constitution of the International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT) lays out the provisions for the governance of the Association by its Council. Members of Council hold office for six years and are voted upon by the general membership. Members are eligible for re-election to the same office. Current Council membership can be seen at https://www.iaptglobal.org/council. Before the end of the six-year term, two nominations for each of the elected positions on the Executive Committee (President, Vice-President, Secretary General) and for each of the ten ordinary Council positions must be sought. The Nominating Committee, chaired by the Past-President, is responsible for soliciting nominations from the membership at large and from within Council. The final list of candidates for the ballot to the general membership is voted upon by Council. Members of IAPT Council are expected to serve on one of the Association's Committees (see https://www.iaptglobal.org/committees for the current Committees and their remits) and to attend one Council meeting annually, usually in association with an international scientific conference or symposium. The review provides information about the main scientific and cultural events in honor of the 125th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin (1895–1925), which took place in 2020. Among them is an evening in Paris as part of the XI Days of Russian Books and Russian-language Literature and Russian Seasons in France; the International scientific symposium “Sergei Yesenin in the XXI century”, held in Moscow, Ryazan and Konstantinovo; the exhibitions “‘Live as the star leads you...’: to the 125th anniversary of the poet’s birth” (State museum of the history of Russian literature named after V.I. Dahl); “I never lie with my heart” (House-museum of F.I. Chalyapin). The main scientific event of the anniversary year was the release of the first issue of the Yesenin Encyclopedia — “Memorable places. Literary geography”, prepared in IWL RAS.

This review analyzes papers presented at the “Second International Kosygin Readings: Energy- and Resource-Efficient Environmentally Safe Technologies and Equipment,” an International Scientific and Technical Symposium Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Kosygin State University of Russia, which was held as part of the International Kosygin Forum. These papers consider the fundamental principles of methods for intensifying basic processes in various industrial technologies, the scientific fundamentals of the development of energy- and resource-efficient chemical and other processes, innovative developments in this field, issues of the environmental safety of technological processes and equipment, effective systems for increasing technosphere safety, the theory and calculation of heat and mass transfer processes in technosphere protection systems, the issues of digitization as an intellectual and technological factor for increasing the energy and resource efficiency of chemical-manufacturing processes and plants, and the results of studies aimed at developing the theoretical fundamentals of energy- and resource-efficient industrial machinery and equipment.

UNNES Physics International Symposium 2018 (UPIS2018)

PrefaceThe UNNES Physics International Symposium, UPIS 2018 was held in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia on 3 May 2018 in Conjunction with 32nd National Seminar on Physics - Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI). In the symposium, the researchers from various area in Physics and Physics Educations presented their new findings from their latest works. The event was join-organized by Physics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia with Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI).The symposium consisted of plenary sessions and 14 parallel sessions which covers the following topics: Theoretical and Computational Physics, Advanced Materials, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Geophysics, Astrophysics, Instrumentation Physics, Laser and Optoelectronics, Energy and Environmental Physics, Physics Education and Interdisciplinary Physics. The plenary sessions were held in two sessions in which five keynote speakers from five countries shared their valuable knowledge and researches. We hope that this program will expand the mutual understanding and respect in stimulating research in Mathematics, Science, and Education; share research interest and information, and create a form of collaboration to build a trust relationship.
