The aim of the article is to analyze the basic statements and actions of official authorities of Russia on the problem of security in Europe. The author analyzes the impact of these factors on the level of authorities support from citizens and assessment of the country's population of the national security threats. Russian President from 2014 implements an active geopolitical strategy that made the foreign news media more important than the debate on domestic issues. Fearful of foreign influence on domestic policy, the Russian authorities have adopted regulations that restrict the activities of international non-profit organizations (NGOs) and Russian NGOs financed by foreign organizations. These statements and actions of the Russian authorities, as a whole, form a positive attitude to Putin and the negative – to his critics.

Teacher Candidates Respond to Teaching the Junior Achievement Curriculum

Junior Achievement is an international nonprofit organization that is committed to improving the life of elementary, middle, and high school students by helping them understand the relevance of personal finance, economics, and entrepreneurship in the local and global marketplace. It is a potential resource for teacher education programs that seek an additional option for a field experience placement or wish to supplement an existing field experience placement. In this study, 19 middle school teacher candidates from a variety of content areas were provided a chance to coteach a Junior Achievement unit with a fellow classmate at a local school. After participating in the Junior Achievement project, 100% of the participants found the scaffolding component of the Junior Achievement curriculum to be helpful or very helpful, 95% of the participants reported that they benefited personally, and 100% reported that they benefited professionally from the experience. Junior Achievement provides teacher education programs an opportunity to view field experience from a different perspective, and through collaboration, universities, community partners, and schools have the potential to achieve more together than they can individually.

CASRAI-UK: Using the CASRAI Approach to Develop Standards for Communicating and Sharing Research Information in the UK

This paper explains how the Consortia Advancing Standards in Research Administration Information (CASRAI) might be used to share research information in an open and sustainably governed approach, led by research organisations.CASRAI is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing administrative burden and improving outcomes and impact reporting through good stewardship of information requirements by research organisations (universities, colleges, teaching hospitals and other research centres). The objective is to improve the flow of information within and between research stakeholders. The approach sees the ‘user-led’ development and maintenance of standard information agreements. These agreements include (a) specifications defining what data elements (entities) are needed for various key business processes in the research lifecycle and (b) definitions for all the terms appearing in these specifications. The open and standardised definitions are curated and maintained in an open online dictionary that can then be used by system providers and others to exchange information in a standard, agreed format e.g.by using CERIF-XML as the transfer mechanism.

The Mediating Effect of Time Management on the Relationship Between Knowledge Management and Organization Performance Comparison Between Local & the International NGOs

<p>Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate about time management effect on the relationship between knowledge management and organization performance. Design/methodology/approach: The paper contains a comparative analysis of relevant literature from the fields of knowledge management, time management and organization performance, conducted between 2007 and 2015. The research was conducted on a sample of 42 non-profit organizations (24 National and 18 International) we collected the data through a questionnaire that was given to the Monitoring and development department. Findings: The research results reached to the idea that Time Management really plays a strong role to strengthen the relationship between Knowledge Management and Organization Performance dimensions, but not all dimensions, only the standard dimensions (Internal business process, Learning and growth and the Sustainability), but on the non-standard dimension we used which is: the increase or the decrease on the percentage of the affected population who receive services from the organizations, the result is on the opposite side. Also it reached to the result that the organization nationality affects the relationship between knowledge management and the performance management. Originality/value: The paper ranks among the first to search for convergences between International and National non-profit organizations that seem firmly divided in both theoretical and institutional aspects.</p>

A nonprofit corporation was formed for the following purposes: (1) proclaiming earnestly the gospel message and urging its personal acceptance; (2) promoting prayer, Bible study, missions, fellowship, and evangelism; (3) providing a forum in which the gospel can be discussed with nonbelievers outside of a formal church setting; and (4) generously extending the grace of God by giving away all profits (other than those retained for capital expenditures) to community ministries; other local, national, or international nonprofit organizations; or those in financial need.

Trauma, Victims, Time, Changing Organizations and the Nepal 2015 Earthquake

This paper summarizes findings from reconnaissance fieldwork conducted five weeks after the Nepal earthquake in 2015. Data were collected using an exploratory, qualitative, semi-inductive approach. Themes converged through classic disaster research theoretical ideas but were also evident through the unique convergence of globalization and development in Nepal. Findings from informal conversations, photographs, and observations of relief and recovery efforts revealed several key themes: the occurrence of organizational transitions in activities and tasks, psychosocial well-being of Nepalese individuals and communities, issues in qualifying the definition of an earthquake victim, and the importance of chronological and social time in recovery processes. Other findings gleaned from fieldwork included uncovering complexities of cultural and social systems such as caste structure in Nepal, issues related to humanitarian logistics, and the vulnerability of special populations such as new mothers and migrant Nepalese. The massive presence of international non-profit organizations created an interesting setting for relief and recovery, mostly described in the section on organization evolutions and transformation. Finally, we also encountered various perceptions about what it means to shift from “relief” to “recovery”- a notion which intersected with all of the four main themes from our findings.

The topic is very relevant due to the ongoing restructuring of the architecture of international relations and world politics. In addition, these processes lead to involvement in international relations new actors. The resulting configuration and the role of traditional players. In addition to long-term evolutionary processes, we should not forget about the position of Russia in the last few years. It is obvious that the current tensions around the Russian Federation may not be fully resolved with the old methods. Marked strengths of the textbook, including those associated with the consideration of the diagonal ties and the political components in the international activities of the regions. Thinking outside the (Ideas) Box

Libraries Without Borders is an international nonprofit organization committed to the transformative change education can effect in post-disaster contexts, particularly refugee camps. In 2014, Libraries Without Borders launched the Ideas Box, an innovative and portable library space, to extend the benefits of libraries to isolated communities. Since then, impact studies have revealed the Ideas Box’s positive influence on educational gains, community building, and psychosocial healing in refugee camps. As it continues its work, Libraries Without Borders seeks to expand international opinions on what constitutes ‘lifesaving’ aid, given the dramatic benefits of education for refugees both in the short term and long term. Similarly, Libraries Without Borders hopes to expand conventional definitions of libraries to promote alternative solutions such as the Ideas Box in communities that do not have the resources to support traditional library spaces.

Food Security and Climate Change in Sub-Saharan Africa

Climate change is predicted to have a detrimental impact on food security throughout the world, but the poorest regions are likely to be the most affected. The Food and Agriculture Organization identifies four aspects of food security: availability, access, stability and utilization. This literature review examines the predicted impacts of climate change on food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. First, an analysis of the scientific literature was undertaken to investigate the potential impact of climate change on each of these four aspects. Second, policies relating to food security and climate change of key UN bodies, international non-profit organizations, and national governments in Sub-Saharan Africa were examined. Overall, there is extensive evidence that climate change will negatively impact each of the four aspects of food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. Until now, international organizations and national governments have failed to adopt comprehensive policies to adapt to climate change. To be effective, efforts to address the problem should combine social and development aspects.

The Universal Credit Rating Group: The Viability of a Response

The role played by the Big Three credit rating agencies (Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, and Fitch) in the creation of the recent Financial Crisis has been well documented, as too has their conduct in the aftermath of the Crisis where they contributed to the prolonging of the effects of the systemic breakdown. Also, with a string of record fines and cease-and-desist orders in the wake of the Crisis lending weight to the notion that the Big Three have no plans of performing any more ethically, there are a number of organisations that are endeavouring to provide a better alternative to the stranglehold of the Big Three. In the first instalment of the Viability of a Response series we were introduced to the International Non-Profit Credit Rating Agency who, through the amalgamation of forward-looking and non-profit ideals, intends to inject some much needed ethical consideration into the process of providing ratings that are crucial to the marketplace . In this edition of the series, we will be introduced to the Universal Credit Rating Group (UCRG) which is an alliance between Dagong Global Ratings, RusRating, and Egan-Jones Rating Company. We will start by learning more about this alliance that is due to come into effect in the next few years, and then the article will examine the reality of the situation to come to a conclusion on what the Group’s chances of success may be.

Open data in Nepal: a webometric network analysis

This study examines the current open data trends in Nepal based on the webometric analysis method by using search engines to trawl through websites and obtain data. The results indicate that various national and international nonprofit organizations, public sector organizations, educational institutions , and a few commercial organizations were the initial actors fostering open data in Nepal. Therefore, these organizations were analyzed in terms of their networking patterns and the extent to which they are exposed internationally in cyberspace by using Webometric Analyst 2.0. Inter-linkage analysis, co-mention analysis, and link impact analyses were conducted to explore the networking behavior in the World Wide Web. The results revealed that international organizations (IOs) were strongly interlinked. Nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), government organizations (GOs), and IOs were interlinked, but weakly. In terms of the co-mention network analysis, IOs with IOs were more significant than NGOs with NGOs, GOs, or business organizations because IOs had been working actively for many years, their web presence was high, and they worked in other fields, including open data. A link impact analysis was also conducted using its indicators of seed sites linked to external websites in terms of the estimated number of top-level domains and country-code top-level domains.

Francesco Pastore is qualified as full professor of Economic Policy. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of Economics at Seconda Universita di Napoli. He is also secretary of the Italian Association of Labor Economics (AIEL) and a member of the executive board of the Italian Association of Comparative Economic Studies (AISSEC). His main research interests are in labor and education economics. He is also interested in development and transition economics. He has contributed extensively in several such fields as regional unemployment differentials, school-to-work transitions, labor market dynamics, gender discrimination, human capital investment, public employment services and passive as well as active labor market policy, labor market consequences of international trade and nonprofit organization.

Stories in the Cloth: Art Therapy and Narrative Textiles

In this article I weave together the relevance of narrative textile work in therapeutic and human rights contexts; showcase Common Threads, an international nonprofit that uses story cloths with survivors of gender-based violence; outline a master's level art therapy course in story cloths; and relate how textiles helped build a sibling relationship. Although seemingly unrelated, these elements are tied together within the context of culture, time, and purpose, shown in the article through stories and mythology, current practices, and personal experience. Art therapists and other mental health practitioners are increasingly using sewing as a medium, particularly in places where it is culturally relevant, to help people tell their stories graphically. Though art therapists may use textiles and fabric in practice, little is found in the art therapy literature that addresses textile work with trauma survivors. Similar to traditional art therapy groups and open studio, making story cloths in community provides connection with others and an opportunity to create, process, and cope with traumatic events.

Activity of NTDs Drug-discovery Research Consortium

Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are an extremely important issue facing global health care. To improve "access to health" where people are unable to access adequate medical care due to poverty and weak healthcare systems, we have established two consortiums: the NTD drug discovery research consortium, and the pediatric praziquantel consortium. The NTD drug discovery research consortium, which involves six institutions from industry, government, and academia, as well as an international non-profit organization, is committed to developing anti-protozoan active compounds for three NTDs (Leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and African sleeping sickness). Each participating institute will contribute their efforts to accomplish the following: selection of drug targets based on information technology, and drug discovery by three different approaches (in silico drug discovery, "fragment evolution" which is a unique drug designing method of Astellas Pharma, and phenotypic screening with Astellas' compound library). The consortium has established a brand new database (Integrated Neglected Tropical Disease Database; iNTRODB), and has selected target proteins for the in silico and fragment evolution drug discovery approaches. Thus far, we have identified a number of promising compounds that inhibit the target protein, and we are currently trying to improve the anti-protozoan activity of these compounds. The pediatric praziquantel consortium was founded in July 2012 to develop and register a new praziquantel pediatric formulation for the treatment of schistosomiasis. Astellas Pharma has been a core member in this consortium since its establishment, and has provided expertise and technology in the area of pediatric formulation development and clinical development.

Viral Growth in a Small Nonprofit Organization: A Case Study About the Nexus of Governance, Accountability, and Organizational Development

Invisible Children is a U.S.-based, international nonprofit organization located in San Diego, California. The organization was founded in 2004, and between 2009 and 2012, the organization’s revenue rose dramatically in large part because of a video that “went viral” on social media. The story of Invisible Children as narrated by the organization’s IRS Forms 990 is a powerful case study for nonprofit students, staff, and board members. The activity described in this article allows students to engage directly with IRS Form 990 data and to experience firsthand the connection between data presented on this form and a nonprofit organization’s reputation. The case also allows for rich discussions about the nexus and interplay of nonprofit governance, regulation, transparency, and organizational development.

Documenting the Results of a Successful Partnership: A New Meningococcal Vaccine for Africa.

The Meningitis Vaccine Project, a partnership between the World Health Organization (WHO) and PATH, an international nonprofit organization, existed from 21 June 2001 to 31 December 2014. The project had a single goal: the development, licensure, and introduction of a group A meningococcal conjugate vaccine in sub-Saharan Africa. It was successful and resulted in the WHO prequalification of 2 products, a PsA-TT 10-µg vaccine for use in mass vaccination campaigns among 1- to 29-year-olds, and a 5-µg vaccine for use in routine immunization programs among children <2 years of age. Since 2010, the 10-µg vaccine has been used to immunize 1- to 29-year-olds in large vaccination campaigns in countries of the sub-Saharan African meningitis belt. WHO has recommended introduction of the 5-µg vaccine into the routine childhood immunization program within 1–5 years following campaign completion. Many lessons have been learned through the development, testing, and introduction of MenAfriVac (PsA-TT), and this collection of articles is an attempt at documenting results and lessons learned. Grouping articles on a single theme is an arbitrary exercise; the editors have chosen to group the purely serologic articles in a separate section. The initial section in general follows the historical procession from an idea that began in 1998 to the assessment of the impact of MenAfriVac introduction. A collection of 4 safety articles bridges sections 1 and 2. The editors have chosen to be inclusive so that readers may have a detailed view of the many steps required to develop and license a new vaccine. In addition to the group of articles that were included, there are previous publications, in particular, those describing the results of clinical trials using PsA-TT. Many of development steps were used as important training opportunities. The article by Dellepiane et al is an excellent description of the regulatory challenges facing companies that wish to license a new vaccine [1]. The use of a fast track for prequalification and WHO's accelerated process for country registration greatly facilitated getting the vaccine properly registered. Diomande's article on pharmacovigilance is particularly important given the all-too-common assertion that pharmacovigilance cannot be done in sub-Saharan Africa [2]. Similarly, the article by Wak et al clearly documents the safety of PsA-TT when given to pregnant women [3]. More than 217 million doses have been given from 2010 through December 2014, and group A Neisseria meningitidis has disappeared wherever the vaccine has been used. The vaccine's impact is well summarized in Diomande's article that amply documents vaccine impact, particularly in Chad and Burkina Faso [4]. Diallo et al describe the antibody persistence in 2- to 29-year-olds, demonstrating that antibodies at 1 and 4 years following immunization with PsA-TT persist significantly better than following polysaccharide vaccination. Four years following a single dose of PsA-TT, most individuals still had protective antibody titers [5]. Tapia et al demonstrated that in 12- to 23-month-old Africans, antibody levels remained significantly above baseline up to 5 years following vaccination, with the majority of children remaining protected [6]. An added benefit of immunizing with PsA-TT is the carrier protein tetanus toxoid (TT) itself. PsA-TT has been shown to generate robust tetanus serologic responses in 1- to 29-year-olds, similar to those expected after a booster dose of TT [7]. Of note, neonatal cases of tetanus have fallen by 25% in countries that completed PsA-TT campaigns in 1- to 29-year-olds. No vaccine-related serious adverse events (SAEs) occurred during the 3 months of follow-up of 4004 healthy Malians vaccinated with a single dose of PsA-TT; in addition, rates of systemic reactions, adverse events, and SAEs were similar to those in the polysaccharide control vaccine group and were considered unrelated to vaccination [8]. This collection of articles offers a unique look into an important public health problem that has been controlled. Nonetheless, the need for continued enhanced meningitis surveillance in Africa remains a high priority because of the threat that 1 or more non-A meningococcal strains in Africa will assume epidemic proportions. PsA-TT's success has generated a new confidence that over time, and with the development and use of affordable polyvalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines, meningococcal disease may well be eliminated from sub-Saharan Africa.
