International Labor Relations (ILR) encapsulates the multifaceted interactions and dynamics shaping the global workforce's landscape. In an increasingly interconnected world, characterized by globalization, technological advancements, and economic interdependence, labor relations extend beyond national boundaries, influencing and being influenced by various factors. This abstract provides a succinct overview of the key themes, challenges, and opportunities within the realm of International Labor Relations. The study of ILR encompasses diverse aspects, including cross-border labor migration, multinational corporations' employment practices, labor standards, and international trade agreements' impact on employment. Central to ILR is the examination of the interactions between governments, employers, workers, and international organizations, as they navigate complex socio-economic and political contexts. Globalization has profoundly shaped ILR, fostering the integration of economies and labor markets across countries. As a result, labor issues increasingly transcend national borders, posing both opportunities and challenges for workers, employers, and policymakers. Technological advancements, such as automation and digitalization, further complicate labor dynamics, influencing employment patterns and skills requirements on a global scale. Challenges within ILR include ensuring decent work conditions, protecting workers' rights, and addressing inequalities in labor markets. Issues such as informal employment, gender disparities, and the informalization of labor pose significant hurdles to achieving inclusive and sustainable growth. Moreover, the rise of global supply chains has raised concerns about labor exploitation and the enforcement of labor standards across borders. International organizations play a crucial role in shaping ILR through the development and implementation of labor standards, conventions, and guidelines. Institutions like the International Labour Organization (ILO) provide platforms for dialogue and cooperation among governments, employers, and workers to address labor-related challenges and promote social justice. In conclusion, International Labor Relations are complex and dynamic, influenced by globalization, technological advancements, and economic forces. Addressing the diverse challenges within ILR requires collaborative efforts from governments, employers, workers, and international organizations to ensure fair and inclusive labor practices and promote sustainable development globally. Protection of employees in international employment contracts

This study investigated the level of labor protection as per the international labor contract. Thus, the way applicable law is applied to international labor relations in Jordan and other Arab countries such as Kuwait and Bahrain, and Rome I Regulation were discussed (Council of the European Union, 2008). This was done to evaluate labor protection in Jordan compared to the other countries. Attempts were made to raise the problem, delineate the ongoing situation in Jordan, and suggest suitable solutions. The analytical method, and the survey of judiciary literature and relevant legal documents showed labor protection in Jordan is not suitable. This is because the Jordanian judiciary is contradictory regarding the interpretation of occurrences related to determining the applicable law, for there are no clear, explicit legal provisions in this regard. It was also suggested that the Jordanian legislator intervenes to protect the labor and provides legal regulations on the application of law. This study has provided the fertile soil for beneficiaries to enhance labor protection to make it conform to international standards, and for future research to aim at this purpose, and deal with labor rights in remote work or work performed in more than one country.

Gender Egalitarianism as a Value of International Labor Relations

Gender philosophy, issues of gender identity and gender inequality are topical issues of the philosophical and legal scientific direction. The manuscript presents an approach that includes understanding gender issues in labor relations from the standpoint of the social state, relations of equality, justice and the common good. Only by gaining a foothold in theory and practice, constantly rising to the level of its philosophical generalization, the ideas of gender equality provide a mechanism for their real implementation, and the gender approach serves to effectively solve problems and preserve social peace. The principle of gender equality acts as a goal that must be taken into account in lawmaking and law enforcement. The purpose of the study is to determine the place and role of international legal instruments in the formation of national methods for ensuring gender equality and processes related to the improvement of mechanisms for protection against discrimination. The study is based on the assumption that international labor agreements have the necessary leverage over national legal systems and that it is in the public interest to effectively implement and enforce them.

Teaching With American Factory: Illustrating Management Concepts in a Multinational Enterprise With a Documentary Film

This article reviews the documentary film American Factory as a resource for undergraduate management courses, especially those with a global emphasis. The film illustrates several themes, including overcoming cross-cultural challenges with cultural intelligence; international labor relations; employee health, safety, and well-being; stereotypes; and power distance and collectivism. This article also details clips from the film that illustrate these themes and suggests instructors show them alongside class lectures (in person, online synchronous, and online asynchronous) as nonfictional demonstrations of the concepts covered in class. In addition, this article provides discussion questions and sample answers so that these clips can be used as springboards for further class analysis, application, and extension. In sum, American Factory is a tool that can increase engagement and multimodality teaching in the management curriculum.

Collision Principles in Labor Relations Complicated by a Foreign Element: Experience of Uzbekistan

various scientific debates are taking place today not only at the national level but also within the framework of international organizations on the role of countries, international organizations on issues of legal regulation of foreign citizens’ activities, foreign labor migration and its legal regulation. The main reason for this is sharp increase of labor migration process in the world in recent years, growing aspirations of foreign citizens in carrying out activities in other countries, as well as involvement of foreign professionals in working in other countries as the result of attracting foreign investment, signing bilateral agreements of employment on the basis of the principle of reciprocity between the two states. Bringing national legislation on human rights in accordance with international standards, development of foreign economic activity of enterprises and organizations entail the emergence and increase of labor relations with so-called foreign element. Based on this, in this article, different aspects of collision-legal regulation of labor relations with complicated foreign element are covered and analyzed. In this, the author pays attention to the types and importance of collision norms governing international labor relations, as well as the principle of autonomous will as a method of collision-legal regulation of labor relations.

Retos contemporáneos para el conflicto de leyes laborales en el espacio: un estudio desde Brasil

The main purpose of this article is to discuss contemporary challenges to the extraterritorial conflict of labor laws, which is accentuated as a result of globalization. This is because the internationalization of the labor force and the reflection on labor migration have effects on labor law, particularly with regard to the law applicable to contracts signed in the field of international labor relations, and an examination of the substantive law to be used. After all, more flexible rules regarding the protection of the worker can be indicated, moving in the opposite direction to the normative development of the International Labor Organization. Therefore, focusing on Brazilian practice, the elements of connection that provide solutions to the conflicts of labor laws in space will be identified, making considerations about them, especially due to the need to always protect the worker, because this is the vulnerable side of the employment relationship. Therefore, a qualitative research, of an applied nature is carried out, seeking to review, in a critical way, the existing bibliography on the subject.

Access to Justice and Labor Law Reform in Asia

The existence of national labor law system guarantees fair is one of legal reform to achieve access to justice. This study aims to analyze whether the system of labor law has given capacity to achieve access to justice as the basis for implementing international labor relations in Asia. The method of this study is a normative legal research with statute approach. The findings support that there was an inconsistency on the substance of the legal structures that affect the low legal culture. The substance of the national labor law systems have not adapted the comprehensive International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions. Less robust system of national labor laws affect access to justice in the weak field of labor in the region.

National and international labour relations in oil and gas Trans National Corporations in Kazakhstan

The paper examines labour relations in Kazakhstan's oil and gas TNCs, contributing to recent debates on the Global Union Federations’ (GUFs) and national unions’ roles in building a global system of industrial relations. These debates suggest a need for GUFs to involve national unions in organisation within and dialogue with TNCs but the GUF judged them insufficiently capable of this and they therefore had only limited involvement in GUF-led activities. Analysts arguing that a ‘global system of industrial relations’ is emerging must take account of such issues deriving from trade unionism's global heterogeneity.

Migration, Labour and Legal Discourse in the early 20thCentury. A French-Italian Example in the Making of International Labour Law

The making of the international labour law was the result of a complex proceeding carried out by some jurists in the early 20th Century, between the draft of the first Labour Treaty (Franco-Italian Bilateral Treaty of 1904) and the institution of the International Labour Organization (Treaty of Versailles of 1919). The jurists interested into this “nouveau droit” focused on the emergence of collective interests and their doctrinal efforts aimed to give a legal answer to the social question as a consequence of the industrial revolution. The peculiarity of their approach was the framing of the labour question into a transnational context, by paying great attention to the growing migratory phenomena. The connection between migration and labour emerges from a preliminary examination of the legislative and doctrinal sources. Both in the drawing of an international labour law and in the regulation of migration, lawyers started from the same economic assumption: the mobility of labour, and referred to a same subject: the foreign worker. In this matter the relationship between Italy and France seems to be exemplar in order to show the premises, the ideological plans and the practical results of the construction of the new legal discourse about international labour relations.
