PROSES KOMUNIKASI KEBIJAKAN PARIWISATA PADA DISBUDPAR PROVINSI JAWA TIMUR

After the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2022 the tourism sector has reopened so that it requires an active role from government agencies to restore the tourism sector. One of these government agencies is DISBUDPAR East Java Province. To carry out its policies, of course, organizational communication is needed. To see how the internal communication of the East Java Province DISBUDPAR organization runs, research is needed to see the tourism policy communication process. The purpose of this study is to determine the internal organizational communication process related to tourism policy at DISBUDPAR of East Java Province and see the similarities and differences in the period before and after the Covid-19 pandemic (2019-2022). This research uses organizational communication theory that focuses on internal institutions and government communication that focuses on staff management. The type of research is qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection methods are interviews with four employees of DISBUDPAR East Java Province, observation and documentation. The results of the study are communication in DISBUDPAR East Java Province is still dominated by one-way communication, namely orders from leaders to their members. During the period before to after the Covid-19 pandemic (2019-2022) there were several changes in the DISBUDPAR of East Java Province related to tourism policy communication. From this research, it can be seen how the organizational communication process within the internal DISBUDPAR of East Java Province and what has changed and remains consistent in the communication process during the period before to after the Covid-19 pandemic (2019-2022).

A relational model for assessing internal communications and organizational bonds: the importance of affective relations and the role of the immediate supervisor

Purpose – To analyze the factors related to the internal communication process that influence the organizational bonds (commitment, entrenchment, and consent) between workers and their employing organizations. Design/methodology/approach – Qualitative and quantitative research instruments were employed in a sample field consisting of four large organizations in Brazil. Findings emerged from Content Analysis, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM).The qualitative phase involved the participation of 23 respondents. The quantitative phase sample comprised 401 respondents. A scale was developed to assess workers' perceptions of communication processes. Findings – A relationship between communication processes and organizational bonds was confirmed. Immediate leader communication proved to be a highly significant factor in the internal communication process, as well as affective communication, which directly impacts commitment and acts on engaging communication, which in turn influences commitment. It was observed that the consent bond, through the subordination, directly impacts commitment, albeit in a negative manner. Originality/value – The study contributes to the field of organizational communication by introducing the IOCS (Internal Organizational Communication Scale) and paves the way to further the still nascent debate on the forms of interaction between organizations and their employees resulting from new management models, labor contracts, as well as organizational value and purposes, stemming from the changes brought about by the Covid-19 heath crisis.

Internal Organizational Communication in the Implementation of the Bumdes Program in Gandatapa Village, Sumbang District, Banyumas District

Village development can be achieved through community empowerment aimed at improving the welfare of its residents. This goal can be pursued through the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as a driver of the village community's economy. Communication plays a crucial part in the process of implementing BUMDes programs. This is related to the planning, organizing, and managing of activities within BUMDes. Internal communication within BUMDes is important to create good coordination and orderliness within the organization. Therefore, this study seeks to explain the internal communication of BUMDes Gandatapa in running its programs. The research approach used is qualitative with descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), and documentation. The research location is in Gandatapa Village, Sumbang, Banyumas, Central Java, Indonesia, with the research subjects being the core management and business unit management of BUMDes Gandatapa. This study shows that the group dynamics of BUMDes Ganda Kusuma can be said to be not fully active yet due to several internal issues. The internal communication within the Water Unit has shown good interaction between the administrators, good unit management, and appropriate problem-solving. Through the explanation above, it can be understood that organizational communication and the knowledge of the administrators about BUMDes are important to building a better BUMDes Ganda Kusuma.

Internal Organizational Communication in Remote Work: An Analysis of Higher Education Entities

The pandemic forced universities to change from face-to-face to virtual mode, modifying the way in which teaching and coordination is managed in educational institutions. The organization of communication in universities is fundamental for teachers to be able to interact, converse and obtain the appropriate information to transfer information to students.

Satisfaction with Internal Communication and Hospitality Employees’ Turnover Intention: Exploring the Mediating Role of Organizational Support and Job Satisfaction

Managing employee turnover is a key function in human resource management (HRM) that has become especially relevant given current staff shortages. The travel and tourism industry has been strongly affected, with many organizations having difficulty attracting and retaining workers. Portugal, as a prominent player in tourism, is no exception, and the workforce shortage crisis has been discussed in various forums and has attracted media attention. The present study examined hotel employees’ turnover intention and its relationship with their job satisfaction and positive perceptions of internal communication and organizational support. The proposed theoretical model included that internal communication contributes to the quality of employee–organization relationships by increasing perceived organizational support and job satisfaction, which in turn serve as sequential mediators of hotel workers’ diminished intent to leave their employer. Multiple regression analyses were performed using data collected from 12 hotels (number = 370 workers). The results support the model as they confirm that a statistically significant negative relationship exists between employees’ satisfaction with internal communication and their turnover intention. These variables are both directly and indirectly connected through perceived organizational support and job satisfaction. Implications for HRM are discussed including the importance of refining internal organizational communication to strengthen employee–organization ties.

MOTIVATION OF EMPLOYEES IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR THROUGH ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION CASE STUDY: VALA MOBILE COMPANY, KOSOVO

The aim of this study is to reveal the role of internal organizational communication in motivating employees in public service organizations. Data were collected from 249 surveyed employees, in the mobile telecommunications sector in Kosovo, specifically in the Vala mobile company. The collected data was analyzed by using the SPSS system. The study found that information sharing had the greatest effect on employee motivation, followed by employee involvement in decision-making. This paper can be useful for managers and heads to create an organizational culture that promotes both motivation and performance. This paper is unique as it examines the links between organizational communication, motivation, and performance.

Home-based telework: aspects of communication. Evidence from Hungary

This paper examines the communication aspect of Home-Based Telework (HBT). The aim of this study is to focus on internal organizational communication from the perspective of occupation and time spent in HBT by answering two research questions. Firstly, how does the occupation influence the perception of organizational communication and the attitude towards remote work? Secondly, does the evaluation of communication within the organization change according to the employees' judgment, depending on the time spent in HBT? During the research, a systematic literature review related to HBT was carried out. Moreover, an anonymous online questionnaire survey was conducted in four occupational groups, on a sample of 1,100 people. The results show that there are significant differences related to the perception of communication between groups that can be distinguished based on occupations and time. The conclusions drawn from the results can serve as a reference point both for the researchers of the topic and for those company managers who prepare and organize the permanent introduction of HBT.

WAZUP! COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN ORGANIZATIONAL DECISION-MAKING

The WhatsApp application has become the latest trend as a communication tool used in organizations to interact with each other. Most of its use is to convey official or personal information and get immediate feedback. Employees can send information and attach text, images, videos, and audio files. Additionally, users can form specific groups through the WhatsApp application. However, it is unclear to what extent WhatsApp is used as a communication tool that supports decision-making in organizations. This study aims to identify the extent to which WhatsApp is used in the organization and employees' perspectives as an internal organizational communication tool supporting employee decision-making. A quantitative survey method was used to distribute this study through email to executives and non-executives from the selected organization, namely the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM), a regulatory body organization under the Ministry of Communications and Digital. Based on the findings of the study, WhatsApp is widely used by SKMM staff to share information, manage daily work routines, and make quick and effective decisions. This WhatsApp is considered an alternative that can be used as a communication tool that supports quick decision-making by the staff in the organization. Most of them agree and gain satisfaction from its use, especially when an immediate decision is needed. The study also shows that all MCMC employees need WhatsApp communication during working hours.

PC ‘Aisyiyah Ngampilan institutional strengthening through effective organizational communication

The organizational problem of ‘Aisyiyah Branch Leadership (PCA) Ngampilan is the diversity of the community which is often referred to as the "abangan" area because there are still many people whose lifestyle is still dominated by pre-Islamic Javanese traditions. In dealing with this situation, PCA Ngampilan must have strong institutional values, one of which is strengthening organizational communication. The purpose of this activity is to increase the understanding of leaders within the organization and internal organizational communication regarding the use of social media. Activities are carried out in several stages, namely initial assessment, socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The community service program went very well where PCA Ngampilan's knowledge related to leadership in organizational communication and the use of social media increased by up to 85%.

Leadership and Internal Communication Strategies in Public Organizations: Analytical Research

Purpose: As managers can lead a set of ways to improve internal communication in public organizations, and leadership can cultivate a common understanding of goals within the organization and share the vision in preparation for its way to better performance, the purpose of the research is to assess the type and strength of the relationship between internal communication and different forms of leadership. Theoretical framework: The study demonstrates how leaders in public organizations improve internal communication, related to employees' perceptions of public organizations' routines and performance. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses the ordinary least squares (OLS) and applied multiple regression A sample of 130 educational staff members from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research was selected using the descriptive analytical approach. Findings: A set of statistical techniques were utilized to analyze the data and compile the findings.The findings demonstrate that internal communication and verbal rewards have a relationship that is consistent with both transformational leadership and transactional leadership. Research, Practical & Social implications: The study demonstrates how leaders in public organizations improve internal communication, educational staff members from the Ministry of Higher Education. The effectiveness of this communication is influenced by the nature of the relationship and the leader's symbolism and attitudes toward them. Originality/value: The findings suggest several consequences for the fields of Management and Strategic. have hadincluding the public organizations, numerous difficulties that this study aids in resolving. There are advantages and disadvantages to every leadership style, and leaders typically use direct and indirect means of communication with subordinates.

The function of internal communication during the COVID-19 health crisis: Transformation or transubstantiation?

To find out whether the role of internal communication was transformed or transubstantiated as a result of the situation caused by the COVID-19 health crisis, a series of structured interviews with communication managers were held from the most severe period of lockdown (April 2020) until the end of the fifth wave (June 2021), with the aim of examining whether the function of internal communication in organizations had been affected by this health crisis and if so, to what extent. Internal communication as a managerial function underwent adaptation and adjustments, for which organizations had no ad hoc existing manuals or guidelines to follow in stricto sensu, because the nearest precedent comparable to the current situation occurred over a century ago and within a completely different economic context. The pandemic has led to a marked digitization of internal communication channels, the dissemination of contents focused on health, well-being and safety of employees, alignment with the team, transparency, sustainability and diversity, with the express aim of providing emotional support and forging an image of security. It has also become an accelerating factor from a strategic perspective. Furthermore, new gaps have emerged, such as the need for employee self-management, along with managerial challenges posed by ambiguity, privacy, data accuracy and security and worklife balance in the teleworking context. All these concerns imply and require the direct involvement of internal communication to tackle them and find solutions. Yet what has changed is the various ways the internal communication function displays itself, but not the substance of the discipline. Thus, continuity in the strategic management of this function is crucial for its further development as an essential contribution for facing current and upcoming challenges.

The Influence of Organizational Communication in Improving Safety Culture in PT. XYZ

It is expected that an organization will conduct a communication process in building a culture. The management of a company presents some policies and responsibilities through verbal and non-verbal messages continuously. It aims to shape a safety culture behaviour for the organization members of the company themselves. Research of the internal and external organizational communication influences the effort to improve Safety Culture through conceptual system or communication model. In addition, it also aims to improve the influence of risk and K3 communication including in the implementation of Safety Culture in PT. XYZ’s work environment. This study used quantitative method in order to easily understand communication process in internal and external organizational communication. There are 162 respondents used as sample in this research. The data sampling technique uses Probability Sampling method with Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. The analysis method that was used first for linear regression analysis was normality test. Then, the researchers conducted a validity and reliability test. The hypothesis test used significance test simultaneously and partial significance test. The research data was analysed through the SPSS 24 software. This test was conducted by seeing the value of F that was present in ANOVA table, significance level that was used was 0,05. Climate and satisfactory in communication developed a measurement in safety culture comprehensively that included safety culture instruments that was categorized into independent variables (X). It included safety culture indicators, safety culture climate, safety management system or situational, safety behaviour, and organizational communication.

Employee Involvement and Commitment in Internal Communication

This research project aims to analyze the importance of internal communication in organizations in Benguela (Angola) and to determine its impact on employee engagement and commitment to the organization. To this end, an exploratory study was conducted using a quantitative methodology. In this scope, a questionnaire was applied to 250 employees of the organizations, seeking to evaluate employees as internal consumers; internal communication in terms of tools, means and communicative effectiveness, as well as internal communication management and employee satisfaction. The results demonstrate the need for internal communication to engage and commit the company’s employees, where organizations are increasingly concerned with the management of their human resources.

Tendencias de investigación sobre comunicación interna en revistas internacionales: 2015-2021

Academia and organizations tend to agree on the importance they give to internal communication as a discipline of knowledge and as a strategic issue in organizational management. However, many organizations omit the systematic application of this type of communication and the academy has not produced, to date, a systematic body of knowledge. In order for these situations to be recognized and worked on, research work is necessary to build an integrating theoretical body. What this work proposes is to review the publications on internal communication (IC) to inquire about the recent advance in this knowledge and its applications. To accomplish this, four of the most important academic journals on communication in organizations were reviewed according to the SCImago Journal & Country Rank. They are: Public Relations Review, Management Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Strategic Communication and Journal of Communication Management. The period of analysis was carried out between 2015 and 2021. Bibliometric indicators used were: the number of articles on internal communication published, broken down by journal, year and number, most used words and phrases. The authors were also studied by analyzing the number of signatures per article, who published more on internal communication, as well as the most cited experts. The results in the 125 issues reveal a discreet presence of IC since of 1278 articles published, 126 dealt with the subject, which represented 9.87% of the total. The journal that published the most on IC was Public Relations Review with 38 articles, followed by Management Communication Quarterly with 35. Journal of Communication Management edited 32 articles, leaving International Journal of Strategic Communication as the journal that dealt with the subject the least with 21. All journals made special editions on various topics, but the Journal of Communication Management was the only one that made an extraordinary edition dedicated to IC under the title Internal Communication during the COVID-19 Pandemic published in volume 25, number 3, July 2021. The most productive year for IC was 2021 with 32 articles. Throughout the period, 55 issues were published without articles on IC, 36 with one, 20 with two, nine with three, four with four articles and only one issue with seven, the special edition. Among the most used words are employee (s), social, strategic, engagement, media and crisis. And the most used phrase after “internal communication” is “social media”. The most cited author was also the most productive in the period studied: Lijuan Rita Men. Other authors who published multiple times included Cen April Yue, Ana Tkalac Verčič, Jeong Nam Kim, and Vibeke Thøis Madsen. James Grunig, Ansgar Zerfass, François Cooren, Linda L. Putnam, Mary Welch, and W. Timothy Coombs were also frequently cited. In conclusion, and despite the increased interest caused by the pandemic, internal communication is not a priority issue in the reviewed journals. A greater emphasis on normative and instrumental aspects was also detected, with a clear orientation towards the solution of specific organizational problems, that is, a functionalist perspective, centered on management. This article seeks to support both scholars and professionals of internal communication, leaving within their reach, in addition to this review, the challenge of increasing research to generate knowledge in internal organizational communication.

‘The Enabling Role of Internal Organizational Communication in Insider Threat Activity – Evidence From a High Security Organization’

This paper explores the role of internal communication in one under-researched form of organizational crisis, insider threat – threat to an organization, its people or resources, from those who have legitimate access. In this case study, we examine a high security organization, drawing from in-depth interviews with management and employees concerning the organizational context and a real-life incident of insider threat. We identify the importance of three communication flows (top-down, bottom-up, and lateral) in explaining, and in this case, enabling, insider threat. Derived from this analysis, we draw implications for communication and security scholars, as well as practitioners, concerning: the impact of unintentional communication, the consequences of selective silence and the divergence in levels of shared understanding of security among different groups within an organization.

A Study on the Effectiveness of the Internal Organizational Communication Process of Alano & Sons Credit Corporation: Basis for Continuous development of Company Operations, Dipolog City, Philippines

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the internal communication process of Alano & Sons Credit Corporation during the calendar year 2019. This study used the descriptive research design with survey as the chosen data-gathering tool. The effectiveness of the communication process was measured using the components of effective communication. The respondents consisted of 171 regular employees of Alano and Sons Credit Corporation. Frequency counting, percentage, weighted mean, and ANOVA were used to answer the research problems and test the null hypothesis. The study found no significant differences on the level of effectiveness of communication process when employees are grouped in terms of sex, age, highest educational attainment, position, length of service, and area/office of assignment. The study also found that the employees see the overall communication process of Alano & Sons Credit Corporation as effective. This is consistent in all components namely, communicator, message, channel, feedback and environment. Furthermore, the evaluation on the effect of the barriers of communication present within the company found that the employees see them as having a significant effect.

The Impact and Importance of Communication Within the Agricultural Units in Romania in the Digital Era

The main objective of this paper is to analyse the degree of importance that the staff carrying out their activity within agricultural units in Romania gives to both internal and external organizational communication, and the impact, along with the implementations made, of the transition to the digital age. The research was quantitative, in the form of an online questionnaire, placed in a crowdsourcing system, distributed to the staff operating in agricultural units, holding both execution and management positions. It was filled in by 996 people, and the research started from the main idea that at local level, as well as institutional (ministry) level, there is still no concern for improving and enhancing professionalism and communication development, both externally as well as internally, in the context of the digital age we are experiencing. For an accuracy of the information, our analysis was based on 3 hypotheses. Testing the hypotheses based on obtained results led to the validation thereof and allowed us to draw up appropriate conclusions.

A Multi-Level Analysis of Role Negotiation: A Bona Fide Group Approach to Work Team Socialization

This study used a multi-level analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of work team socialization as a process that extends beyond work team and organizational boundaries. Findings, based on interviews of 27 IT employees organized into teams, reaffirmed some previous research on newcomer information seeking, but provided a more complex understanding of information seeking during socialization by identifying the importance of nexus or overlap with other internal and external groups. Nexus 1 included cross-functional meetings, as well as external workshops and conferences involving industry peers. Individual and group communication with members of internal and external groups helped employees negotiate and learn their roles as well as led to changes in their understanding of their team and organization. This multi-level analysis identified how individual, group, internal organizational communication, and extra-organizational communication all contribute to the process of socialization for team members.

Internal organizational communication, applicable to home office, in the company

For companies today it is necessary to have an avant-garde competitiveness, which can adapt to any activity to be undertaken by companies, that is why the internal organizational communication, applicable to the home office, seeks through the viability of the design of an organizational communication plan in the small digital company, obtain greater control and management of internal communication by employees, thereby strengthening the relationship of employees and their corporate culture. A case study is applied, through which the methodology established for this research is distinguished, initially giving a guideline to the previous analysis, problems of time management, staff needs to communicate, interview results and survey to build a benchmarking analysis matrix, as well as the development and implementation of a communication plan. The contribution that this work, is the efficiency of communication through the optimal use of communication technologies (ICT).

Leadership Style and Organizational Communication Patterns: a Qualitative Descriptive Study

This study aims to examine the leadership style and organizational communication pattern in the Converting Department, PT. IPP. The leadership elements described are at the general manager and manager levels. The research method used is descriptive and qualitative methods. The data used are primary and secondary data collected through observation supported by interviews, library research, and document analysis. Data and information obtained from the employee of Converting Department, PT. IPP, with as many as 22 informants consisting of the employee from each level of position. Leadership style at the Converting Department, PT. IPP, is centered on characteristics of existing leaders with the most dominant leadership style is exploitive-authoritative because it is attached to the top leader. The existing leadership style is not quite ideal to face challenges in the future. For internal organizational communication, patterns occur either downward communication, upward, horizontal and cross-channel.
