Photography and Tourism Potential of Denai Kuala Village

Denai Kuala Village, a coastal village, is a destination for developing photo tourism potential by utilizing natural conditions that are still natural, located in Pantai Labu District, Deli Serdang. Geographical conditions that are still natural, can still be developed as a tourist destination, although demographically it is very possible urbanization. This becomes necessary to get its own attention, because of this condition, one of the solutions is to provide science and technology to the community in order to develop the natural, cultural, and Human Resources potential that is available to increase people's income. If the welfare of the community increases, it will automatically reduce the level of urbanization. In fact, if the growth is significant enough, urban people will flock back to the village and advance their homeland. Based on the results of discussions with the Medan Area University PKM implementation team with the Indonesian Women's Union (SPI) as partners, the problem resolution will be done based on priority scale. Concretely the solution to the problem is: 1) Mapping the tourist area by choosing interesting photo spots for photography; 2) Conducting Training and Website Creation of Denai Kuala Village regarding interesting photo spots for photography and utilizing social media for promotion tools on the internet. From the beach site, grass fields, fish drying fields, rivers, ships and bridges, (landscape), mangrove forests and pine forests, has its own uniqueness if processed into its own tourism potential. Some elements of nature du top, can be made one model for specific spots in areas that are in accordance with the aesthetic of photography. These angles are taken with a photo camera. These results are then disseminated to residents, especially and training to residents, especially female kaun, to recognize site specific photography in Denai Kuala Village, as a tourism potential. Photo documentation obtained, then selected into materials to be marketed for solutions to problems in the field of marketing. These materials are made on the website to utilize social media for promotion tools on blogspot.

Today in the development of technology, the process of sharing photos gradually begins to develop. Where individuals who want to share photos need media to be able to share photos that are considered interesting. At present many social media can be used to share interesting photos but as students generally do not know the processes that occur in building a social media application sharing photos. Like how to build an application using a database system that is online so that it can be accessed by many people using an internet connection. To build an application that has a database so that it can be used online, a cloud server is needed, a technology service that combines computers and internet-based networks. So this technology utilizes internet media as a central server for data management. At this time Google has provided a cloud server service called Firebase.

Recent Progress in Inorganic Anions Templated Silver Nanoclusters: Synthesis, Structures and Properties.

Over recent years, research on the ligand-protected silver clusters have gained significant interest owing to their unique potential applications in catalysis, organic optoelectronics, and luminescent materials. However, the synthesis of structurally precise high-nuclearity silver nanoclusters is still challenging and become one of the prime interests of chemists. The controllable synthesis of high-nuclearity silver nanoclusters involves the ingenious use of capping ligands or/and templating agents. Thereinto, the main role of the templating agents is to promote the order arrangement of silver ions around them to form discrete molecules. Our lab has performed comprehensive studies on the ligand-protected silver clusters in the past eight years. This review highlights recent progress in the use of inorganic template anions, silver precursors, solvents, and the ligand types in synthesizing high-nuclearity silver nanoclusters. Furthermore, some interesting photo- and electrochemical properties revealed by silver clusters including luminescent thermochromism, electrical conductivity, and electrochemical reduction of H2 O2 have been also summarized.

Biomedical Applications of Photo- and Sono-Activated Rose Bengal: A Review.

Objective: The aim of this review is to discuss and compare the extensive range of biomedical applications of photo- and sono-activated Rose Bengal (RB). Background data: RB is a xanthene dye that due to its interesting photo- and sono-sensitive properties is gaining attention in the scientific field. Methods: This study is a literature review using the database PubMed. Results: As a photosensitizer, RB converts the triplet oxygen molecule into reactive oxygen species after irradiation with green light (532 nm). This mechanism allows for the use of photo-activated RB in photochemical tissue bonding, photodynamic therapy, antimicrobial therapy and cancer treatment, photothrombotic animal models, and other applications, including tissue engineering and treatment of tauopathies. As a sono-sensitive compound, RB is applied for sonodynamic therapy, cancer treatment, and antimicrobial therapy. Conclusions: This review outlines the versatility and effectiveness of photo- and sono-activated RB in numerous biomedical applications.

Tendencies in Photo Tourism Development in Ukraine (on the example of Transcarpathian region)

The purpose of this article is to investigate the main vectors of photo tourism development in Ukraine as an innovative trend in active tourism. On the basis of systematization of the definitions available, the author presents her own vision of the concept “photo tourism”, as well as its main functions. The author gives a brief outline of the geography of the most popular photo tours in the world and emphasizes prospects for development of photo tourism within Ukraine on the basis of the touristic recreational potential available. Among the most popular destinations of photo tourism in the world for street photography and genre photography we can highlight Europe. Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Madrid, Prague and Lisbon are considered to be truly picturesque photo locations. In terms of scenery tours, the top ranking directions are exotic ones, such as South-East Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, India, Tibet, China, Nepal, Ethiopia, Bhutan and Malaysia. The whole territory of Ukraine is appealing in terms of photo tour development, though the Ukrainian Carpathians and the Crimea possess the best qualities for scenery, panoramic and genre photography. At present photo tours are being actively carried out only in the Western regions of the country. The most interesting natural locations have been described, which might become the basis for photo tours within the boundaries of Ukraine in the future. The objects to be captured by the camera lens are mostly historical and cultural heritage – castles, fortresses, palace complexes. The Chornobyl Exclusion Zone has become a particularly interesting photo location. A range of schematic maps depicting tourist photo locations in the West of Ukraine has been created. The second vector of the development of photo tourism in Ukraine is the landscapes of the Carpathian Mountains. The following photo tours are successfully implemented and the most popular among tourists: “The Marmaros Mountains: photo trip along the Ukraine – Romania border”; “Verkhovyna Watershed Ridge”; “Borzhava Mountain Valley”; “ Pre-Watershed Gorgany”; “Svydovets Massif”; “Marmaros Massif”. The article analyzes the photo tour proposals nowadays available for Ukrainian tourists, their value and territorial organization. The findings of the research suggest that photo tourism is predominantly directed outside the boundaries of Ukraine whereas the development of internal photo tourism is significantly slower. The benefit of the study is that the author has developed a new tourist product in the market of tourist services of Ukraine – the programme of the photo tour “Gastronomic Transcarpathia”. Food photography of Transcarpathian cuisine is considered to be a promising and innovational element in the development of the tourist industry in the region. This article mentions limiting factors hindering development of photo tourism in Ukraine and in Transcarpathian region in particular.

The rise of the use of social networking media instagram among modern society, especially among teenagers make the social networking media is very popular today. Therefore the vocational reading room using social media instagram as a communication service with users who no other is a vocational student. The targets in this campaign are the increasing number of Instagram Spreadsheet Readers, likes, comments, and hashtag # 4FAMEruangbacavokasi. In this research, researchers use qualitative research methods. Data collection is done using observation and interview techniques. Qualitative research is used because data collection is done when the research is more to throw an object such as photo challenge contest with the theme Fascinating Read Movie Like. After the photo challenge is completed the researchers also held an interview about how the opinion of the participants in the race held in the vocational reading room. The result of this research is the implementation cycle conducted by researchers as much as four cycles. The first cycle applied 12 times post, second cycle applied 8 times post, third cycle applied 10 post and fourth cycle only 1 post. Within a period of three weeks photo challenge was held, there are eleven followers who follow this photo challenge contest. Of the total participants are drawn four winners with the most like, the most interesting photos and comments.

Photoinduced electrical bistability of sputter deposited CdZnTe thin films

CdZnTe thin films were fabricated on glass substrates by sputtering and the potentiality of photoinduced electrical data storage was investigated. As deposited film was annealed to enhance the crystallization and both the as deposited and annealed films were characterized by XRD, RAMAN, UV–vis-NIR, PL, FESEM and EDAX analysis. Optical and electrical properties of the films were investigated in detail. The thin films show interesting photo induced electrical bistability. The electrical bistability was observed with symmetric lateral electrodes under illuminated condition only. In the dark, forward and reverse bias curves traced the same path but under light illumination condition there is a substantial difference in the I–V traces of the forward and reversed biased conditions. After annealing the crystallinity of the as deposited film improved and the ON-OFF ratio of electrical bistability increased considerably. This phenomenom could be useful for light sensitive RAM type devices.

Using photovoice methods to explore older people's perceptions of respect and social inclusion in cities: Opportunities, challenges and solutions

Urbanisation and population ageing have contributed to recognise cities as important settings for healthy ageing. This paper considers opportunities, challenges and solutions of using photovoice methods for exploring how individuals perceive their cities and the contribution this makes to their health. It focuses on one aspect of older people's experiences – respect and social inclusion, in the context of a community-based participatory research. Drawing on selected findings (participants' photographs, associated quotes and researchers' field notes), we provide an assessment of the suitability of photovoice methodology for the intended purpose. Four groups of older people (n=26; aged 60 years or more) from four contrasting geographical areas in Liverpool, UK, were recruited purposively. Participants photographed perceived positive and negative aspects of respect and social inclusion in the city, reflecting on the meanings of the photographs in individual (n=23) and group interviews (n=9). Thematic and content analysis was conducted using NVivo 10 software.The work reported here provides insights into how participants engage with the photovoice process; factors preventing taking photos of interest; and how photographs complement interviews and focus groups. The findings demonstrate that photovoice both facilitated the dissemination of personalised relevant knowledge, and encouraged critical dialogue between participants, and city stakeholders. Reported difficulties included photography of negative and social concepts, and anxiety when taking photographs due to (i) expectations of what is a ‘proper’ photograph, and (ii) the need to obtain consent from subjects. With preparation, training, and discussion of participants’ ideas not expressed through photographs, photovoice was well-suited to this topic, providing insights complementing other research methods. Through analysing the application of photovoice for exploring perceptions of respect and social inclusion in cities, our paper has identified potential issues and provides important recommendations for researchers on how photovoice methodology can be strengthened in exploring conditions for better health in the urban environment.

Navigating the worldwide community of photos

The last decade has seen an explosion in the number of photographs available on the Internet. The sheer volume of interesting photos makes it a challenge to explore this space. Various Web and social media sites, along with search and indexing techniques, have been developed in response. One natural way to navigate these images in a 3D geo-located context. In this article, we reflect on our work in this area, with a focus on techniques that build partial 3D scene models to help find and navigate interesting photographs in an interactive, immersive 3D setting. We also discuss how finding such relationships among photographs opens up exciting new possibilities for multimedia authoring, visualization, and editing.

Electric Power Substations Engineering [Book Reviews

This third edition of the book has updated 15 of the 20 chapters from the previous edition and added two new chapters on recent technology: Energy Storage and the Role of Substations in Smart Grids. In addition to the technical information presented in each chapter, most include references to the latest IEEE and IE C standards, CIGRE publications, and other papers. This aids the reader with where to go for further research and information. Plus the authors are all well experienced in their fields, with many of them being current and recent colleagues within the IEEE /PES Substations Committee. Many of the chapters are fewer than 20 pages, so the information is provided in an efficient manner, along with interesting photos and graphics.

New approaches to the synthesis of strapped porphyrin containing bipyridinium [2]rotaxanes

Inspired by the interesting photo- and electrochemical properties observed in bipyridinium and porphyrin containing interlocked catenanes, herein we describe new approaches towards the synthesis of related rotaxanes. Previous efforts in this domain had been hampered by the limited range of chemical reactions that are compatible with these motifs, however the use of a “click” methodology, together with a better understanding of the size of these strapped porphyrin macrocycles, resulted in the synthesis of a bipyridinium porphyrin [2]rotaxane in modest yields. X-ray crystallography of the zinc metalloporphyrin macrocycle used in this study revealed that in the solid state, these strapped porphyrins adopt a 1-dimensional coordination polymer, in which an oxygen atom in the strap of one macrocycle is coordinated to the zinc metal center in an adjacent porphyrin ring.

To Differentiate Taenia Eggs

In the April 2012 issue of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology , Sandora and McAdam published an interesting photo quiz ([3][1]). The answer to the photo quiz states that a Taenia egg is responsible for the patient's problems. This suggests that no identification to the species level is possible.

She has been made from the architect's professional files Emilio Sessa (by courtesy from Argentina), and Juan Parrochia B., (from the collection "Juan Parrochia Beguin", National Archives of Chile, DIBAM). It also presents images from AUCA No. 24/25, Santiago de Chile, 1973, and from SUMMA N°57, Buenos Aires, Argentina, March 1975, and finally, a vertical aerial photography in Google Earth, May 2011. Other photos of interest have been carried out by M.I. Pavez R. and Diego Vallejos O., in May 2011.

Developing metrics to characterize Flickr groups

AbstractFlickr, the large‐scale online photo sharing website, is often viewed as one of the ‘classic’ examples of Web2.0 applications through which researchers are able to observe the social behavior of online communities. One of the main features of Flickr is groups. These provide a means to organize, share and discuss photos of potential interest to group members. This paper explores the scale of group creation on Flickr and proposes a new set of metrics for characterizing groups on Flickr looking at aspects of membership, communication activity, and communication structure. Data collected from a sample of 1,000 groups was used to confirm the metrics and provide new insights into group formation in Flickr, such as the nature of larger and smaller groups. The contributions of the article are as follows: a set of metrics for characterizing online groups that extend existing schemes; an approach for sampling Flickr to estimate the number of groups; new insights into Flickr groups based on results from analyzing 1,000 randomly selected groups; and reflections on our experiences with using publicly accessible, automatically collected data to characterize the types of groups on Flickr.

Exploit camera metadata for enhancing interesting region detection and photo retrieval

Photographs taken by human beings differ from the images that taken by a lifeless device, such as a surveillance camera or a visual sensor on a robot, in that human being intentionally shoot photographs to express his/her feeling or photo-realistically record a scene. This creation process is accomplished by adjusting two factors: the setting of parameters on a camera and the position between the camera and the object which he or she is interested in. In this paper, this procedure is learned using the machine learning technique so that what the interest of the photographer is and what the core content of a photo wants to display can be reversely calculated. A photo retrieval system was built upon the category of interesting regions and the metadata is used for help. The research also explore the argument how local or global feature affects the performance of image retrieval. A novel stochastic segmentation algorithm called region restricted EM algorithm was applied in order to construct the interesting regions. Experimental evaluation on over 7000+ photos taken by 200+ different models of cameras with variety of interests has shown the robustness of our technique.

Finding Interesting Images in Albums using Attention

Commercial systems such as Flickr display interesting photos from their collection as an interaction mechanism for sampling the collection. It purely relies on social activity analysis for determining the notion of interestingness. We propose an alternative technique based on content analysis for finding interesting photos in a collection. We use a combination of visual attention models and an interactive feedback mechanism to compute interestingness. A differentiating feature of our approach is the ability to customize the set of interesting photos depending upon the individual interest. Also, we incorporate non-identical duplicate detection as a mechanism to strengthen the surprise factor among the potentially interesting set of candidate photos. We have implemented the system and conducted a user study whose results are promising. This proposed work presents a variant on query by example integrating user relevance feedback to choose “interesting” photos.

By giving an interesting title and photo, by presenting a systematic, factual and accurate information, packed with language that easy to comprehend, “Rubrik Swara” would be read by the reader and presumably, influence their perception about gender equality. Research result shows that “Rubrik Swara” of Kompas do influence reader’s perception concerning gender equality.
