Learning media is very important as a means of describing information and the essence of the learning process. Learning media provides benefits so that students more quickly understand the essentials of learning objectives that have been well designed. In the current technology and information-based era, the development of media that supports technology-based or digital learning processes has been very massive. The aim of this study is to identify best practices in the use of technology and information used in learning media specifically related to the diversity of types of internet-based learning media that are already commonly used. The method used in this scientific work is qualitative analysis using literature review studies, namely collecting various sources of information from scientific journals, books, articles and so on. The results of this study are learning media using media. The internet and social media make it easier for educators to understand learning material better, besides that digital-based learning media can be studied repeatedly so that students understand the lesson material better. Types of internet-based learning media that have benefits for students include interactive multimedia, digital video and animation, podcasts, augmented reality and virtual reality, game based learning, and several other methods.

Tumor cell extracellular vesicles derived long non-coding RNA X-inactive specific transcript regulates the blood–brain barrier and non-small cell lung cancer brain metastasis via miR-19b-3p/EPN2

ObjectiveTo investigate the function of tumor cell extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived long non-coding RNA X-inactive specific transcript (XIST) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) brain metastasis and to clarify its specific mechanism. MethodsEVs were isolated from A549 cells, and transmission electron microscopy, nanoparticle tracking, and western blotting were used to detect morphology and particle size of EVs. Human brain microvascular endothelial cells (HBMEC) and astrocytes were used to construct an in vitro blood–brain barrier (BBB) model. The BBB model was treated with EVs for 24 h. PKH67 staining was performed to examine EV engulfment by HBMEC and astrocytes. RT-qPCR was used to examine XIST, miR-19b-3p, and epsin 2 (EPN2) mRNA expression. Expression of EPN2 and tight junction (TJ) proteins such as claudin-5, occludin, and ZO-1 were measured using western blotting. Transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER), rhodamine-dextran, and immunofluorescence staining were performed to explore the effects of EVs and XIST on the BBB. Transwell assay was used to evaluate the invasive ability of A549 and H1299 cells. Dual-luciferase and immunoprecipitation assays were used to verify binding between miR-19b-3p, XIST, and EPN2. The Interactive Video Information System was used to observe brain metastasis of xenografts in BALB/c nude mice. ResultsA549 cell-derived EVs exhibited typical characteristics of EVs. HBMEC ingested EVs in the BBB model. EVs treatment decreased TEER and TJ protein level and increased the permeability to rhodamine-dextran. XIST was overexpressed in A549 and H1299 cells. Knockdown of XIST in A549 cell-derived EVs alleviated BBB damage and reduced NSCLC cell invasion. In vivo, XIST inhibition repressed NSCLC brain metastasis by ameliorating the BBB. Mechanistically, XIST sponged miR-19b-3p and positively regulated EPN2 expression. miR-19b-3p inhibition weakened the protective effect of XIST inhibition on the BBB. ConclusionA549 cells EVs-derived XIST inhibition ameliorates BBB injury and inhibits NSCLC brain metastasis by regulating the miR-19b-3p/EPN2 axis.

PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN VIDEO INTERAKTIF BERBASIS BUDAYA LOKAL UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR MATA PELAJARAN IPAS MATERI ENERGI DALAM KEHIDUPAN SEHARI-HARI SISWA KELAS IV SD

This research aims to develop interactive video learning media based on local culture to improve the fourth grade of students learning outcomes, especially energy in everyday life thema. This is a research and development using the ADDIE method which is analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects involved 110 students from several elementary schools in Sintang. The data collected through expert validation, user responses, as well as various statistical tests such as validity, reliability and hypothesis testing. The research results showed that the media developed was considered very feasible by media experts (85.93%) and appropriate by material experts (75%). Student and teacher responses to this media were also good, with scores of 80.36% and 77% respectively in the wide-scale test. The increase in student learning outcomes can be seen from the pretest score of 28.81% and posttest 78.36%, so this media has proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes.

How Star Power Drives Video Game Success

Well-known actors, or stars, clearly are relevant for movies. Today, their influence also extends to interactive video games, for which budgets have reached triple-digit millions of dollars. Yet no existing research addresses the economic impact of star power on video game success across various game traits and reviews. Analyzing video games released on the popular distribution platform Steam between 2008 and 2022, the current study reveals that casting stars as game characters has positive effects on the valence of professional reviews, which in turn affect game success. Stars can therefore increase the quality of a game and reduce uncertainty about it. This impact varies depending on game traits, however. Based on these results, the authors develop an interactive dashboard that managers can use to simulate how they can strategically leverage star power to increase game success.

The Impact of Interactive Video Games Training on the Quality of Life of Children Treated for Leukemia

Objectives: The study aimed to assess the impact of interactive video games (IVGs) as a form of physical activity (PA) on the quality of life. Methods: The study used a quality-of-life questionnaire (KIDSCREEN-10) and the HBSC questionnaire. In order to determine individual IVGs training parameters, an initial assessment of cardiorespiratory fitness level was performed, using the Cardio Pulmonary Exercise Test—Godfrey’s progressive protocol. Children in the intervention group participated in 12 interval training sessions using IVGs (Microsoft’s Xbox 360 S console with Kinect,). Results: The study included 21 patients (7–13 years old; 12 boys and 9 girls) treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (n = 13) and acute myeloid leukemia (n = 8). Before the IVGs, all children had insufficient PA levels (90% of children in the intervention group and 90.91% of children in the control group did not engage in any PA during the last 7 days). After the intervention, 80% of the children in the IVGs group undertook PA lasting at least 60 min a day, three times a week. They exhibited better well-being, a subjective feeling of improved physical fitness (p < 0.0001), a greater subjective sense of strength and energy (p < 0.0001), and less feeling of sadness (p = 0.0016) than the children from the control group (p = 0.0205). Conclusions: The results of our study confirmed that an attractive form of virtual game or sport is willingly undertaken by children undergoing cancer treatment, and has significant benefits in improving the quality-of-life parameters. There is a clear need to create specific recommendations and rehabilitation models for children with cancer.

Utilising digital education to enhance learning accessibility in isolated areas

Introduction: In instances where conventional educational institutions are either unavailable or ineffective, online platforms offer a distinctive opportunity to obtain quality education regardless of geographical location. The advantages of online learning include flexible scheduling, access to educational content, and the capacity to communicate with instructors and other students via the Internet. Concurrently, numerous challenges are encountered by students and teachers utilising online platforms, including unstable internet connections and the need to self-organise the learning process.Objective: To determine the role and efficacy of online learning in providing access to education in remote regions. Methods : an analytical literature review, a meta-analysis, a quality of education analysis, a learning effectiveness determination, and a statistical data analysis. Type of research is observational research, timeframe of the research is an academic semester, field of research is the educational process in higher education, platform used for the research is the higher education environment, type of statistics is descriptive.Results : The article compares the use of standard online tools and interactive online tools to provide access to education in remote regions. The means of monitoring the results of higher education students include educational test simulators and gamified tasks.Conclusions : A comparison of learning outcomes and self-assessment of higher education students studying mathematics and English using traditional and interactive online tools has revealed the effectiveness of the latter: interactive video lectures and online courses, virtual laboratories and mobile applications, AR and VR explanations, chatbots, forums, and online conferences

Exploring Current Challenges and Opportunities in Media Literacy Skills for Youth: Stakeholders’ Perspectives

The widespread dissemination of contradictory information through various media platforms can increase anxiety and confusion among younger generations. This highlights the need to promote Media Literacy (ML) skills, enabling them to evaluate online information's validity critically. Video game-based learning can be valuable in this context, fostering active learning and critical thinking. Therefore, developing and sharing innovative resources like interactive content and video games is crucial to enhancing young people's ML skills and resilience to disinformation. The YO-MEDIA project, involving three universities in Italy, Portugal, and Spain and a journalist association, aims to develop ML in young people during times of crisis (e.g., pandemics and wars) through game-based learning strategies and professional training. The project carried out 29 semi-structured interviews in the partner countries with various stakeholders to understand perspectives on media design practices and ML formulation for young people in crises. These interviews aimed to collect education and media professionals' insights on promoting ML and critical thinking among youth during crises. It also seeks to gather best practices and understand these professionals' challenges when fostering ML among youth. This study's findings suggest that the interviewees deem ML vital for distinguishing accurate information from misinformation during crises, especially relevant for young individuals. Essential skills for these young people include critical thinking, filtering information, and recognizing online threats. Effective strategies involve operating within digital environments frequented by young people, encouraging critical thinking, and nurturing collaboration. Professionals face challenges such as a lack of training, engaging young people's attention, and keeping pace with digital environments. The interviewees also emphasized the importance of ML training for informal educators and media professionals. They recommended Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for their flexibility and accessibility. According to the interviewees, an ML game should involve research, interpretation, and decision-making processes and be accessible to young people with disabilities. They identified several ML projects and resources, including multimedia labs, youth parliaments, and critical thinking tools. This study contributes to developing games that promote critical thinking and ML in young people. It also aids in establishing ongoing professional training in ML for informal educators, teachers, media professionals, and other stakeholders.

Rights Quest: A Game for Child Rights Awareness

The interactive video game "A Way Home!" is a serious game for promoting pro-social change by raising awareness of children's rights, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child treaty. All countries except the United States have ratified this treaty. Through a collaborative effort, faculty and students developed this game using an open-source platform to create an immersive first-person video game experience to disseminate crucial knowledge about children's rights and the need for ratification. Game design guides players through real-world comparative scenarios depicting environments that support or do not support those fundamental rights. Through engaging gameplay and storytelling, iterative development processes facilitated the game's effectiveness in conveying complex concepts, such as the distinction between rights and responsibilities. The significance of children's fundamental rights, such as access to food, a safe, clean home, the right to speech, and freedom of expression, as enshrined in the CRC, are emphasized by juxtaposing different environments and depicting the consequences of choices. Grounded upon the Diffusion of Innovations theory (Rogers 2010), the first step to adopting cultural change is education. Using gameplay elements, including rewards for positive choices and learner guidance instructions, "A Way Home!" rights quest motivates players to explore and understand the principles of children's rights. The player wins the game when they achieve the goal of being heard in a court of law. By combining education with entertainment, the game aims to inspire empathy and foster understanding, with the ultimate goal of teaching about the need for ratification of the CRC Treaty in the U.S. and empowering players to take action and advocate for children's rights. This paper depicts the methodology involving participants (n=17) from one southeastern university in the States to capture qualitative and quantitative feedback through a perception survey to evaluate the first demo model. Results support advancing data collection for the next version developed using virtual reality (V.R.) headsets to further immerse the learners in the experience.

High-quality video object segmentation is a challenging visual computing task. Interactive segmentation can improve segmentation results. This paper proposes a multi-round interactive dynamic propagation instance-level video object segmentation network based on click interaction. The network consists of two parts: a user interaction segmentation module and a bidirectional dynamic propagation module. A prior segmentation network was designed in the user interaction segmentation module to better segment objects of different scales that users click on. The dynamic propagation network achieves high-precision video object segmentation through the bidirectional propagation and fusion of segmentation masks obtained from multiple rounds of interaction. Experiments on interactive segmentation datasets and video object segmentation datasets show that our method achieves state-of-the-art segmentation results with fewer click interactions.

User Engagement with Interactive Educational Videos: Relations with Task Value, Cognitive Load, and Learning Satisfaction

Interactive educational videos have grown in popularity in the higher education setting over the last two decades. This exploratory study investigates the mediating and moderating effects of user engagement (UE) on the relationships between the antecedents of UE (i.e., intrinsic load, extraneous load, germane load, and task value) and learning satisfaction. A cross-sectional survey study was conducted in June 2023. We conveniently sampled 49 year-one undergraduate students, who completed a self-report questionnaire consisting of items pertaining to cognitive load, task value, user engagement, and learning satisfaction. Data was analysed using hierarchical linear regression models. Findings revealed that reward fully mediated the relationship between germane load and learning satisfaction. In addition, reward was also found to moderate the relation between (a) germane load and learning satisfaction, and (b) task value and learning satisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of creating rewarding experiences when designing interactive educational videos.

Introduction of Formal Training of Interns in Breaking Bad News in an Empathetic Manner through a Structured Module

Background: Due to lack of formal training, young doctors cannot deliver bad news in a way that is expected by patients and their attendants, thereby jeopardizing doctor–patient relationship. Aim: The aim of this study was to train interns about “breaking bad news” to the patients using a structured module. Materials and Methods: A workshop comprising interactive lectures and videos followed by debriefing, and discussion was conducted for interns. Pre/posttest, workshop feedback evaluation, and a group activity based on article case were conducted, followed by discussion. An assessment of skills based on a checklist was done after 15 days of workshop in simulated conditions. Results: There was a significant difference in scores of written tests taken by all 56 participants before and after the session (P < 0.0001). Almost all of them agreed that their ability to break bad news has improved, and they feel confident in breaking bad news after attending this session. During the assessment of the skill of breaking bad news, most of them fell into the category of beginner after attending the workshop with a median of 2. Conclusions: A structured module is an effective method in improving the skills of the interns in sharing bad news with the patients.

Technology-based approaches to enhance clinical learning opportunities for student nurses in a nursing education institution in Gauteng

BackgroundClinical learning opportunities and experiences are vital in nursing education to enhance the student nurses’ acquisition and advancement in clinical skills competencies and preparedness to fulfil their professional nursing responsibilities. A paradigm shift of nursing colleges to higher education, the rapid advancement of technology and digitally native students entering the health and nursing profession, require nursing education to upgrade and complement the old teaching and learning pedagogies with new innovative and creative methodologies. The adoption and integration of technology for supported clinical learning will not only enhance clinical competencies and skills development but will also improve the delivery of quality healthcare aligned with the global standards in clinical education and the health profession PurposeThe purpose of the study was to explore and describe the perceptions of nurse educators, clinical facilitators, and operational managers on how clinical learning opportunities could be enhanced through technology. This aimed to outline technology-based approaches to enhance clinical learning opportunities for student nurses. MethodsQualitative, explorative, and descriptive methods were used to achieve the purpose of the study. A purposive sampling method was used to consciously select nurse educators, clinical facilitators, and operational managers as participants. They were able to provide in-depth and rich data on how clinical learning opportunities for student nurses could be enhanced through technology. The demographic information of the participants consisted of twenty-nine female nurse educators, two male nurse educators, nine female clinical facilitators, four female operational managers, and one male operational manager. Data was collected through agenda focus groups and semi-structured individual interviews. A matrix-building method of data analysis as guided by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s framework was used with the development of themes. SettingThe study took place in a public Nursing Education Institution (NEI) in Gauteng that provides education and training for undergraduate nursing programme at a diploma level. ResultsThree themes emanated from the analysis which included promoting the use of web-based learning and interactive video recordings, adopting, and using high-technology systems (virtual and augmented patient simulations), and ensuring accessibility to technology-supported clinical learning resources and the internet. DiscussionThe transition to online learning technology-based approaches will provide accessibility to various clinical learning platforms across time and location to enhance clinical learning opportunities and experiences for student nurses.

Use of interactive electronic educational video resources for professional training of specialists

The article proves the relevance and main tasks of using interactive electronic educational video resources for the professional training of specialists. The classification and features of interactive electronic educational video resources for the professional training of specialists are presented. The content and features of creating an educational video are disclosed, and their role in the training of specialists is disclosed, the advantages of using video in the educational process during distance education are shown. The significance of using interactive electronic educational video resources for preserving the continuity of education and the possibility of participants' communication in the educational process through platforms, e-mail, messengers (Telegram, Viber, etc.), video conferences, etc., is shown. The importance and advantages of mobile applications for the professional training of specialists with the aim of effective support and learning motivation in the educational process conditions have been proven. Recommendations are offered that can be useful for developing and using interactive electronic educational video resources from various disciplines. The analysis of the results of the conducted pedagogical experiment allows us to state that the use of interactive electronic educational video resources for the professional training of students in real life is indispensable in the modern educational process.

Development of Interactive Learning Video Media to Improve Mathematical Representation Ability on Data Presentation Material

One of the main challenges in learning mathematics is overcoming students' difficulties in understanding abstract mathematical material and the lack of engaging and interactive teaching methods. The aim of this research is to develop interactive learning videos that are valid, effective, and practical. This Research and Development (R&D) study uses the ADDIE model. The research subjects were 15 students of class VII A MTsS Ash-Shalihin.. The results of the study show that the interactive learning video is highly valid with a score of 3.7 from expert evaluations. Teacher responses received a score of 3.67, which is categorized as very practical, while student responses received a score of 3.34, indicating that the video is very effective. The t-test and N-Gain test showed a value of 0.67, indicating an improvement in students' mathematical representation abilities in the moderate category. Thus, the learning video has proven to be effective.

Introduction to Interactive Video-Based E-Learning to Improve Critical Thinking Skills in Vocational High School Students

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to introduce interactive video-based e-learning to improve critical thinking skills in Vocational High School (SMK) students. Critical thinking skills are essential in facing the challenges of the world of work, especially for vocational school graduates. This activity was conducted online through the Zoom application, involving vocational school teachers as the main participants. The training focuses on using interactive videos as a learning medium that integrates interactive elements such as reflective questions, simulations, and problem-solving tasks to stimulate active student engagement. The evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test tests that showed a significant improvement in students' critical thinking skills, with an average post-test score of 80, an increase from 65 in the pre-test. In addition, a survey of teachers showed that 85% of participants benefited from using interactive videos to make learning more engaging and effective. However, some challenges related to internet infrastructure and students' technical ability to access video were identified. As a solution, materials are also provided offline. The results of this activity show that interactive video-based e-learning effectively improves the critical thinking skills of vocational school students. Hopefully, this method can be adapted more widely in the context of vocational education and contribute to developing the quality of education in Indonesia.

LEDY: An Android Application-Based Learning Media Development to Improve Students’ Writing Skill

Smartphones can play a pivotal role in enhancing the learning process. Additionally, the multimedia capabilities of smartphones, such as interactive videos and educational games, make the learning process more engaging and enjoyable. The problem by students encompassed a shortage of interactive learning materials, challenges in understanding English content, restricted chances for practical application, and a sense of monotony in the learning process. Therefore, this research aims to design an Android application-basedlearning media, especially on writing skills. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The subject of this research is tenth-grade students at SMK Wikrama 1 Jepara, with data collected through questionnaires and a pretest-posttest procedure. The effectiveness of the Android application was assessed by using the N-Gain method in analyzing pretest and post-test data. The test outcomes demonstrated an 83.8%success rate, falling within the appropriate category. The pre-test and post-test scores exhibited improvement, with the N-Gain analysis revealing a value of 0.60, signifying enhancementin writing skills. It means that using LEDY an Android application-based learning media, contributes to an improved comprehension among 10th-grade students at SMK Wikrama 1 Jepara, particularly in the area of procedure text material.

Implementation of Computational Tools in the Teaching-learning Process of Materials Strength

With the development of this work, we seek to highlight the importance of implementing technological tools in the study of the subject of material resistance, in order to accompany the teaching-learning process. Bringing computational tools on par with traditional learning in the classroom by applying a series of innovative alternatives and work practices, outside the classroom and that meet your expectations of progress in teaching-learning in fields related to the resistance of materials , who are under their responsibility aligned with the objective of advancing in the career with practical knowledge. This research topic was chosen due to the students' deficient knowledge in this area due to reasons such as late academic reintegration, work-related issues, among others. In addition to the little use of teaching material by the student, thus harming their comprehensive development. In this work, it is intended to contribute to the analysis of structures using design software and structural analysis. Interactive videos will be generated with their resolution, simulations of practices as well as innovative interactive content, which collaborate for the development of the academic and intellectual potential of the students who take the subject of resistance of materials.

Analysis of Effective Use of Interactive Video in International Chinese Education

With the passage of time, many colleges and universities around the world have set up online classes and integrated the course teaching assistance system into them. With the innovation of science and technology, the use of interactive video in offline teaching is becoming more and more common. By integrating it into the offline learning education system, students’ enthusiasm in class can be significantly improved, and it can also be widely used in international Chinese classes. Therefore, this paper takes international Chinese education as an example. By studying the overall situation of international Chinese classrooms, teachers discuss the operation mode of interactive video in offline teaching, and put forward relevant suggestions, hoping to help international Chinese classroom teachers improve teaching quality and consolidate students’ academic performance. By introducing new teaching concepts, teachers’ teaching methods can be greatly improved, and at the same time, students’ active participation can be promoted, making it easy and practical to conduct a robust assessment of students’ learning progress.

The development of the “creativity economy” of St. Petersburg in the early 2020s reflects the significant potential of the city’s creative space, which has been emerging since the 2000s in various spheres of modern culture – design and architecture, art and fashion, cinema and television, music and exhibition business, advertising and marketing, interactive media and video games – which will allow the city on the Neva in the foreseeable future to become a leader in the creative industries of Russia in order to serve as a resource influencing modernization processes, both in the economy and in culture. The legislator generates favorable opportunities for this, in particular, the Fundamentals of State Cultural Policy notes the importance of interconnected processes to “create conditions for the development of creative industries”, the production of “economic values in the process of creative activity”, which are focused on “capitalization of cultural products and their presentation on the market”. Legal deci- sions in St. Petersburg comprehensively support the spheres of creative industries, influencing their innovative soil, communication and information space, stimulate the environment, influence the market and modernize the principles of social partnership with- in the boundaries of government, business and culture in order to improve the quality of life of Russian society.
