From Trends to Experiences: Co-Creation with Generative Artificial Intelligence in Developing Interactive Multimedia Applications

The emergence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools has ushered in new possibilities for creating diverse content, encompassing text, images, sound, videos, 3D objects, and even code for programming languages. Within this dynamic landscape, both significant challenges and opportunities arise in the field of interactive multimedia application development. It is imperative that the evolving trends in the utilization of these tools metamorphose into experiences that not only reflect but also facilitate the replication of models, methods, and development approaches. This paper contributes to the academic discourse by presenting three distinct development experiences. Each experience represents the initial steps of an incremental exploration process, thus contributing to exploratory research in this domain. These experiences are presented as case studies, with the first one analyzed retrospectively, and the latter two deliberately designed to scrutinize the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating generative artificial intelligence into the software development process, playing a significant role in a co-creation process. The results presented are qualitative, with detailed independent analyses for each case study, offering a comprehensive description of the findings. Thus, this paper presents a set of recommendations facilitating the transfer, replication, and improvement of these experiences by other multimedia development labs or teams.

Development of interactive multimedia for Arabic vocabulary learning through Android applications

This study aims to develop Android -based interactive multimedia in learning Arabic vocabulary so that students can use it as an independent learning resource that can be accessed anytime and anywhere and can be used by teachers to deliver Arabic vocabulary material effectively and efficiently. This research uses research and development methods, with ADDIE development model. The result of this research is to produce Android-based Arabic vocabulary learning media products developed with construct 2 software containing Arabic language learning for classes V MIN 2 South Lampung and V MI Ma'arif Nu South Lampung. To test the feasibility of Android-based interactive multimedia by validating products made to a team of experts and obtained an average percentage score of 80.56% by media experts, 83.89% by material experts. Then the product attractiveness test was assessed by students and obtained an assessment of 90.72% with the criteria of "very feasible". So the update that researchers made with previous researchers is a product packaged in the form of an Android-based interactive multimedia application in learning Arabic vocabulary so that students can learn it anywhere and anytime, both independently and in class.

Implementation of System Usablity Scale in Islamic Cultural History Interactive Learning Media Application at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri Kumbe Merauke

The objective of this research is to create an interactive multimedia application for teaching Islamic Cultural History at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri Kumbe Merauke. This application aims to address the students' needs resulting from a lack of comprehension during the learning process. While traditional methods like printed books have been used, they fail to provide the varied and direct interaction required for effective learning. The development process follows the waterfall method, and data is collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observation. The system design employs flowchart design, use case diagram, sequence diagram, and activity diagram. For testing, both the Blackbox method and Usability scale are used. The results of the Blackbox testing demonstrate that the functionality and appearance of the Islamic Cultural History learning application are good and meet expectations. Additionally, the usability scale assessment yields a final score of 71.81, which falls within the Good category (grade scale C). Conclusively, the data suggests that the Islamic Cultural History learning application is acceptable and beneficial for enhancing the learning process for students.

Perancangan Game Kasual Pongo Tap Pixel Art 2D

Interactive multimedia applications play a very important role as a medium for information, socialization and education. Video games as part of interactive digital applications have the opportunity to be an effective entertainment and learning medium, if designed appropriately. The casual game PongoTap can be used as a socialization medium to increase public awareness of the importance of preserving orangutan habitat. Information about orangutans in 2017, orangutans are included in the Red List of critically endangered (CR) animals whose population is estimated to continue to decline. Based on these reasons, the game concept tells the story of a young orangutan who has lost his habitat, and must go on an adventure to try to survive by finding a comfortable place for him. Pongo is the main character in this casual game. The methodology in game design uses research and development (Research & & Development). Data collection was carried out by searching for library data (supporting theories) and factual data (creation sources) and then data processing was used as a reference in preparing the game design concept. The visual appearance of Pongo Tap 2D is in pixel art style. The game is designed in 4 stages, each stage is identical with a different level regarding; gameplay, characters, and environment. The final result of the creation stage is an interactive application in the form of a video game for Android-based smartphone devices. Conclusion of design analysis; side scrolling platformer gameplay, orangutan characters, and endemic animal habitat environments.

Hand Gesture Recognition and Motion Detection System for Interactive Applications

Security systems and interactive multimedia applications are two examples of the many fields in which Gesture Sense (GS) technology, a significant development in human-computer interaction, has found use. This paper introduces the "Arduino Hand Gesture Identification and Motion Detection System," a revolutionary combination of Python, Arduino Uno R3, and ultrasonic sensors intended to improve interactive apps through accurate gesture identification. Real-time tracking of hand movements is made possible by ultrasonic sensors, which are renowned for their fine-grained motion detection capabilities. Python allows the Arduino Uno R3 to run complex gesture detection algorithms. A user's engagement is improved by an LCD that presents recognized gestures and status updates, which provides immediate visual feedback. The system's outstanding accuracy, responsiveness, and usability are demonstrated by severe testing, which shows that it typically recognizes objects with an accuracy of 93%. In the context of interactive applications, this research study demonstrates how GS technology has the potential to revolutionize user experiences by ensuring seamless and immersive interactions. ANDROID-BASED DEVELOPMENT OF INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA LEARNING APPLICATION SYSTEMS FOR CHILDREN

<em>Technological developments have progressed very rapidly, marked by progress in the field of technology and information. Information technology has now spread to almost all aspects of life, one of which is that it has entered the educational aspect which is used as an interesting learning medium, because it is able to provide new colors in the learning process, and can use a learning while playing approach so that the learning process can feel happy, so that later students are able to express themselves maximally in the learning process. In education there are many things that need to be considered in child development so as to avoid various obstacles in the learning process, such as color blindness, speech delays, and other pre-school abilities by introducing cognitive education to children such as recognition of numbers, letters, colors. And according to IDAI this cognitive recognition period is recommended for children aged 2 -5 years. Researchers developed an Android-based interactive multimedia learning system for children with the aim of providing facilities to parents for children in introducing cognitive aspects with new colors, namely in the form of interactive multimedia applications. The development method used is MDLC (Multimedia Development Life Cycle), because the application being developed involves various media such as sound, images and text. The development of this application also applies quiz content to maximize children's learning media. Through testing using Black Box Testing, the WARUKA Education application that was developed managed to achieve good results. All the features contained in the application run well and as expected. In the User Acceptance Testing test using a questionnaire, the WARUKA Education application gets positive results, with a user satisfaction percentage of 94.167%. Based on this percentage, the WARUKA Education application can be categorized as very good, indicating very high acceptability for users.</em>

Optimizing Multidimensional Perceptual Quality in Online Interactive Multimedia

Network latencies in online interactive multimedia applications may lead to a degraded perception of quality, such as lower interactivity or sluggish responses. We can measure their degradations in perceptual quality by the just-noticeable difference, awareness, or probability of noticeability ( <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">p</i> <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">note</sub> ); the latter measures the likelihood that subjects can notice a change from a reference to a modified reference. In our previous work, we developed an efficient method for finding the perceptual quality for one metric under simplex control. However, integrating the perceptual qualities of several metrics is a heuristic. In this paper, we present a formal approach to optimally combine the perceptual quality of multiple metrics into a joint measure that shows their tradeoffs. Our result shows that the optimal balance occurs when the <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">p</i> <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">note</sub> of all the component metrics are equal. Furthermore, our approach leads to an algorithm with a linear (instead of combinatorial) complexity of the number of metrics. Finally, we present the application of our method in two case studies, one on VoIP for finding the optimal operating points and the second on fast-action games to hide network delays while maintaining the consistency of action orders.

Interactive Multimedia for Introducing Short Surahs from Juz Amma in Preschool Children: A Case Study of Datok Sulaiman Putra Islamic Preschool in Palopo City

This research aims to implement an interactive multimedia application using Unity software on a desktop platform, specifically designed to introduce short surahs from Juz Amma to students, with a focus on Datok Sulaiman Putra Islamic Preschool in Palopo City. This research is motivated by the need for innovative and engaging methods to enhance the learning experience of preschool students in Islamic education. The research follows the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) and incorporates methods such as observation, interviews, and literature studies, including direct observation for data collection. The testing technique employed is Usability Testing, which aims to assess the user-friendliness and ease of use of the multimedia application. The results of this research, from the implemented application, can facilitate the process of introducing short chapters from Juz Amma, making it easier for students to read and understand them in the Qur'an. This research provides benefits in the development of interactive educational tools that can significantly contribute to the learning journey of preschool students in Islamic education.

3D Tactical Floor Game Application for Visualization of Battle Operation Plan by Utilizing Three Act-Structure

Tactical Floor Game (TFG) is an activity to simulate tactics and test the concept of battle operation plans. The main focus in TFG activity is aligning planning logic with field execution estimates using storytelling, mainly through role-playing in a replica of the combat situation. TFG activity is usually done manually by laying out a paper map on the floor and pairing miniatures representing units in operation. In the digital version, TFG activity is typically presented in the form of short film segments representing a stage of combat preparation or by utilizing simple PowerPoint-based animations. The use of such multimedia is considered less representative and may not provide a realistic visualization in the context of battle simulations. This research aims to address the issue of creating realistic visualization and dynamic simulation in combat planning by developing an interactive multimedia application. The contribution to the field of knowledge in this research is focused on the application of the Three-Act Structure, a storytelling framework commonly used in films, into the process of developing multimedia applications. The test results indicate that an interactive multimedia application developed specifically for TFG activities can serve as a comprehensive visualization tool for testing the concept of battle operation plans.

Augmented Reality with Speech Recognition for Animal Recognition Applications

The advance of educational technology is significantly changing and is very effective in supporting education nowadays. However, technology to support education in Indonesia is not maximal; one of the cases occurred in the PGRI Sumedang Kindergarten. Teachers at PGRI Sumedang Kindergarten have difficulties providing material that can build students’ interest, especially general knowledge about animals. This study aims to design Augmented Reality (AR) technology features with Speech Recognition for an Android-based interactive multimedia application of animal knowledge to assist learning activities in PGRI Sumedang Kindergarten. AR is a computer technology that combines virtual objects with the real world. This AR feature uses a card-shaped marker with an image and speech recognition as a medium for interaction with animals. Speech recognition is a computer technology to process human speech into digital letters or words. The resulting interaction is that if the user pronounces the animal’s name displayed in AR, the animal animation will move. This AR feature can help to learn activities at Kindergarten PGRI Sumedang.

The Use of Interactive Multimedia on Religious Tolerance Materials Learning for Students of MAN 1 in Bone Regency

This thesis discusses the interactive multimedia in increasing the religion tolerance material for MAN 1 Bone students. The purpose is to obtain empirical data about the students' understanding after learning comprehension of the MAN 1 Bone District students. The research used a one-group pre-test and post-test design methodology, which means the experimental research is only one experimental group. The results of this study were: The first is the motivation of students before being treated in the form of interactive multimedia application was in the high category, namely 71.11% based on interpretation criteria. The second, after being treated in the form of the application in interactive multimedia increases. The results of the t-test, which shows t count (6.621)&gt; t ultimate (2.05553), and the results of the analysis of each indicator are 89.99%. So that the proposed hypothesis is accepted. This shows a significant relationship between the application of interactive multimedia in learning religion and tolerance materials in the students' learning at MAN 1 Bone.

Student response to the development of android-based interactive multimedia on mushroom materials in high school

The current development of science and technology demands learning that is easily accessible to students. The presence of technology in learning biology is very important in improving the quality of learning. One of the technologies that can be used in biology learning is Android-based interactive multimedia. The purpose of this study was to determine student responses to android-based interactive multimedia on mushroom material in high school so that learning biology using these learning applications can develop properly according to student needs. This research is quantitative descriptive. The data collection technique used a response questionnaire which contained 5 aspects and 21 statement items (validity results Vcount (1.00) ≥ Vtable (1.00)). The five aspects of the student response questionnaire used were fun, interest, liveliness, ease and interest. The results showed that the student responses in the field trial class were in the "Very Good" category with an average of 97.3. Thus it can be concluded that the android-based interactive multimedia application on mushroom material has received a positive response from students and is practically used as a medium to help students in learning ease and interest..

Perancangan Aplikasi Multimedia Interaktif di SMK Negeri 7 Padang

This study aims to determine the Validity, Practicality, and Effectiveness of Interactive Multimedia Applications in the Subject of Basic Dance Movement in Class X Students of the Dance Department at SMK N 7 Padang. This research and design was carried out with 38 class X students of the Department of Dance at SMK N 7 Padang. This type of research is R&amp;D using the Four-D model. With the following steps. (1) define, (2) design, (3) development, and (4) disseminate. Overall the validity test assessment by the validator on application products is 89.87%, so that the validity level can be interpreted as Very Valid to use. The results of the practicality test assessment as a whole the practicality assessment of application products is 92.12%, so that the practicality level can be interpreted as Very Practical to use. The results of the effectiveness test obtained for application products amounted to 87.24% so that the level of effectiveness can be interpreted as very effective in use. It can be concluded that the Interactive Multimedia Application as a learning medium has been tested properly, is very practical and very effective to be used in the learning process in the subject of Basic Dance Movement class X, Department of Dance at SMK Negeri 7 Padang.

Storyboard Design of Android-Based Learning Multimedia Integration Application Using Standard Process Tutorial Model

Bina Pribadi Islam is a subject taught in Islamic elementary schools with the aim of improving students' spiritual well-being through guidance from teachers or mentors. Islamic elementary schools have an educational system designed by the Ministry of National Education and adapted to Islamic law. In the process of learning Bina Pribadi Islam, there is a need for a strategy to increase students' motivation and interest by using a multimedia application that includes elements such as text, audio, graphics, video, and animation tailored to the standard process tutorial model. To create an interactive multimedia application, multimedia design should be prepared in accordance with the tutorial model. Therefore, to produce a good application, a storyboard design needs to be created first that is tailored to the tutorial model to facilitate the application's development. Based on the storyboard design created according to the tutorial model, three main menus are produced as the characteristic features of the tutorial model, namely introduction, tutorial material, and exercises. Each menu produces several sub-menus tailored to the material in the Bina Pribadi Islam subject.

The use of multimedia interactive to improve students science literacy in the new normal era

This study aims to describe the influence of interactive multimedia on students' science literacy in the new normal era and student responses after learning using interactive multimedia on energy flow materials. The type of research used is pre-experimental design research through one group pretest-postest design. The subjects in this study were 31 students of class VIIC in Muhammadiyah Junior High School 2 Taman Sidoarjo, even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Data collected by techniques use observation, tests, and questionnaires. Research instruments include observation sheets for the implementation of learning, science literacy tests, and student response questionnaire sheets. The data were analyzed descriptively using the N-Gain test, the implementation observation sheet, and the response questionnaire. The results showed that the implementation of learning using interactive multimedia on energy flow materials got the criteria for being carried out properly. Students' science literacy skills increased from an average pretest score of 38.5 to 81 on the posttest, with an average N-Gain score of 0.69, categorized as moderate. The learning process and the use of interactive multimedia applications on energy flow materials were also responded to positively by students. Based on the description above, learning using interactive multimedia on energy flow materials can improve students' science literacy skills in the new normal era.

Development of Interactive Digital Learning Multimedia Applications as Independent Learning Module in 2-Dimensional Game Programming Courses

Learning activities at the Creative Media State Polytechnic after the pandemic period, especially in the design department of the game technology study program, were held in blended learning. Blended learning is the right choice of learning because it needs adaptation from lecturers and students, where previously learning was held fully online, now it is held online and offline. Blended learning activities can be very effective and efficient in their implementation if the learning process is well prepared. One of the learning activities carried out is independent learning activities. Therefore, this study aims to produce a learning application that can be used as an independent learning module so that students can learn without being assisted by anyone just by using this independent learning module. The approach taken is the ADDIE development method. The ADDIE development model consists of five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Expert response to this learning application is a crucial thing to do. This application is evaluated by an expert with a background in graphic design, learning media, and communication. The independent learning module application was successfully developed and implemented in semester 3 of the 2-dimensional game programming course.

Meningkatkan Kemampuan Kognitif Siswa SMA Dalam Materi Bunga Tabungan Dan Pajak Menggunakan Desain Multimedia Interaktif

The purpose of this research is to develop interactive multimedia applications that are valid, realistic, and practical for economic mathematics subjects in high school on interest on savings and taxes. This research uses development procedures that include: (1) evaluation and analysis of needs, curriculum, materials, and learning resources, (2) designing product designs, (3) developing product designs, (4) evaluating the feasibility of product designs, (5) evaluating product design. The research instruments and tools used included: media and material expert validation sheets as well as questionnaires on student responses. Subjects who contributed to data collection were 30 students who were included in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. Meanwhile, the trial phase involved 30 students who had received single flower material. A limited test was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Semarang. In accordance with the acquisition of accuracy from the validator getting very good criteria from learning media experts obtaining 89.6%, learning material experts obtaining 89.4%, then from the acquisition of student response questionnaires it shows 88% of students are very interested in using this interactive multimedia. In accordance with the results of the study, it can be concluded that interactive multimedia learning resources in terms of increasing the cognitive capacity of high school students have proven to be accurate and effective to be applied to the teaching and learning process of high school mathematics. QoS-Aware Scheduling of Remote Rendering for Interactive Multimedia Applications in Edge Computing

Leveraging emerging edge computing and 5G networks, researchers proposed to offload the 3D rendering of interactive multimedia applications (e.g., virtual reality and cloud gaming) onto edge servers. For high resource utilization, multiple rendering tasks run in the same GPU server and compete against each other for the computation resource. Each task has its requirement for performance, i.e., QoS target. A significant problem is how to schedule tasks so that each preset QoS is met and the performance of all tasks are maximized. We make the following contributions. First, we formulate the problem into a QoS constrained max-min utility problem. Second, we find that using the common natural logarithm as a utility function overly promotes one performance but demotes another. To avoid this phenomenon, we design a special utility function. Third, we propose an efficient scheduling algorithm, consisting of a resolution adjustment algorithm and a frame rate fair scheduling algorithm, both of which interact with each other. The former selects resolutions for tasks and the latter decides which task to process. We evaluate our method with actual rendering data, and the simulations demonstrate that our method can effectively improve task performance as well as satisfy QoS simultaneously.
