Introduction. The article reveals aspects of the current state and prospects of assessing the credibility of the reported information. There is an increase in the number of psychological research methods, new technologies for improvement the verification of the information accuracy. The development of the empirical sciences of today has given rise to the development of various, means, methods, ways, and technologies of lie detection, which are currently used to achieve this goal by different technical means.At the same time, the issue of assessing the credibility of the reported information is still relevant and has not been fully investigated to date. For this reason, the purpose of the article is to analyze the current state and identify perspective technologies for assessing the credibility of the reported information. Scientific methods as the analysis, conceptualization, synthesis and systematization were used to achieve the purpose of the article.Results. Specialists in the field of analysis and prediction of human behavior have paid particular attention to the of instrumental credibility assessment methods, recently based on psychophysiology and include such hardware as encephalograph, MRI, polygraph and eye tracker and more. This is driven by researchers' aspirations to deal with highly credible criteria and metrics, although finding and establishing objective relationships remains a challenge. The long-standing world practice of polygraph use proves that PDD play a rather specific but important role in the life of modern society. The main (traditional) functions of PDD, as a rule, include: - personnel selection; integrity and loyalty checks; increasing of efficiency of carrying out of service investigations (inspections). The following are optional features: prevention and prophylaxis of corruption and other offenses among staff; in-depth study of personality; gaining new scientific knowledge.Originality. Significant methods of assessment of reliability, which are based on new knowledge and include new technological solutions, such as eye tracker or image recognition technology, are becoming widespread. A large number of new (and re-processed existing) metadata becomes possible to analyze with the emergence of a flexible, sometimes self-improving, software product (algorithm)Concluion. Creation of new technologies and improvement of existing ones, open up new opportunities in solving the problems that are facing the specialists. Significant improvement can be achieved through a specific combination of different methods (approaches) to assessing the credibility of the reported information. The promising directions in this area can be considered the introduction of complex systems of remote assessment of reliability and improvement of the existing mathematical apparatus.
