Identification Cards and Systems That Incorporate Instant Films

Abstract A number of firms manufacture or market cameras and allied equipment for the production of driver's licenses, building passes, and other identification cards uith portraits. Systems that use instant film, other than those marketed by Polaroid Corp., are discussed with a view toward their classification and identification by document examiners. Polaroid products were discussed in a previous publication.

A High-Resolution In-Line Rapid Wet-Processed Laser Recorder

A high resolution laser image recorder/processor for reconnaissance applications has been designed with an integral wet film processor providing rapid access to the imagery. This system operates over a wide range of film velocities with nearly instant film velocity change capability. The laser recorder/processor system is described. Specific details are given on the film and processing against a five-second development requirement. The method of obtaining consistent density over a 7 to 1 range of film velocities is explained in detail. A linear or definable density over a range of three density units is achieved with the equipment. Examples of product output are shown, demon-strating its high resolution, high quality, low grain, and large density range.

The Interdisciplinary Approach: A New Photographic Film

Abstract An international and interdisciplinary effort proved essential to design, develop and manufacture a completely new instant photographic film with its special camera, and this within the briefest possible time. The complex dye chemistry is described and illustrated. The central part of the review is devoted to matrix management and how this led to the essential organizational flexibility, impossible without trans-Atlantic interdisciplinary communications.

Instant calibration films for electron diffraction

A prefabricated instant calibration film consisting of Formvar, evaporated carbon and evaporated gold is described, which can be produced in quantity and applied to a specimen mounted on an electron microscope grid in a matter of seconds. It is used to give a known diffraction pattern on every specimen for calculation of the diffraction constant.
