What facilitates the effectiveness of innovation ecosystem-specific experimentation? A dynamic capabilities perspective

ABSTRACT There is the bourgeoning literature arguing that successfully delivering complex innovations to mass societies requires focal firms and their key partners to first perform a series of experimentation activities at the local small-scale societal level, known as Innovation Ecosystem-Specific Experimentation (IEE). Scholars have already evidenced the IEEs’ function to create viable innovation ecosystems, yet there is a dearth of information about which factors are associated with effective IEEs. We constructed the conceptual model based on a dynamic capabilities perspective. Our PLS-SEM analysis of 111 surveys in China indicates that (1) focal firms’ dynamic capabilities in metacognition, strategic networking, and learning agility are positively correlated with effective IEEs; (2) focal firms that use geographically accessible networking and innovation facilities tend to have stronger relationships between strategic networking capability and IEE, and between learning agility and IEE, respectively. Overall, this study enriches the literature on experimentation, entrepreneurial strategizing, and innovation ecosystem emergence.

THE INFLUENCE OF CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION ON COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE (CASE STUDY OF INTERCONTINENTAL BALI RESORT HOTEL WEDDING SALES)

Changing customer demands have an impact on the company assessment given, requiring the application of creativity and innovation. Therefore, applying creativity and innovation is very important. The challenge felt by employees who work as wedding sales is that they must have the ability to design creative and innovative facilities and services in order to compete in competitor markets. This research was conducted at the InterContinental Bali Resort hotel. This research aims to determine the influence of creativity and innovation on competitive advantage. This research was analyzed using the Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS). This type of research data is descriptive quantitative with data collection techniques using questionnaires. The population is consumers who have used InterContinental Bali Resort wedding services in the 2019-2024 period. The sample was 145 respondents. This research data analysis is a multiple linear regression analysis method. Then the statistical method used is the partial test (t) to test the effect partially and the simultaneous test (F) to test the effect simultaneously. The results of this research show that creativity and innovation partially and simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the competitive advantage of wedding sales at the InterContinental Bali Resort hotel. The factors that influence the competitive advantage of InterContinental Bali Resort's wedding hotel sales show results with a coefficient of determination value of 62.8%. Overall the independent variables have a mutual relationship, while the remaining 37.2% is influenced by other variables that are not. included in this study.

Public Health Management: Innovative Facility Arrangement Framework Towards Emergency Relief

The better public health organizations are contingent on the healthier distribution of earthquake relief facilities when there is an immediate seismic event. Choosing the perfect site for these emergency relief centers that would suitably integrate cities is a challenging task. Heuristic calculations are practical methods for resolving these kinds of complex optimization problems. This study's objective is to develop a novel method for allocating parcels to assistance facilities and figuring out where they should be placed: swarm-tuned war strategy optimization (SWSO). The SWSO method syndicates the investigative efficiency of the WSO strategy with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to solve the complex elements of this task by humanizing directional skills. Using GIS, possible sites were designated, and letters were brought utilizing a suggested SWSO method that reduced the quantity of trip. The method exceeded present approaches in terms of meeting cumulatively the achievement of emergency managers and public health managers in providing disaster relief and, eventually, maximizing people's seismic resilience.

Modelling and optimization of an innovative facility for automated sorting of aluminium scraps

The growing demand for aluminium worldwide makes aluminium recycling critical to realising a circular economy and increasing the sustainability of our world. One effective way to improve the impact of aluminium recycling is to develop cost-efficient automated sorting technologies for obtaining pre-defined high-quality aluminium scrap products, thus reducing undesirable downcycling and increasing environmental/economic benefits. In this work, an innovative facility, which includes singulation, sensor scanning, and ejection, is optimised for the automated sorting of aluminium scraps. The sorting facility is computationally studied by a virtual experiment model based on the discrete element method. The model considers particle-scale dynamics of complex-shaped scraps and mimics the automated operation of the facility. Based on virtual experiment modelling, the flow of scrap is optimized by computation, with the feasible operation of the sorting facility being proposed. Accordingly, the sorting facility has been built and model predictions are confirmed in actual operation.

Enhancing Inclusive Finance in Sub‐Saharan Africa: The Collaborative Role of Economic Freedom and Innovative Facilities

ABSTRACTThis paper gives insight into innovative facilities' role in the effect of economic freedom on inclusive finance in sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA) using data from 2008 to 2020. After using the generalized method of moment for the analysis, the study concluded that improving economic freedom promotes financial inclusion while expanding innovative facilities in SSA inhibits inclusive finance. The study also discovered that innovative facilities improve the impact of economic freedom on inclusive finance in SSA and subsequently diminish the effect of economic freedom on inclusive finance after certain thresholds (mobile usage 100.75, internet usage 34.1064, fixed broadband usage not applicable, telephone usage 13.3494, and innovative facility index 1.5619). Hence, policymakers are advised to increase freedom in SSA economies to boost financial inclusion by ensuring the bureaucracy for establishing financial institutions is minimized and institutions that ensure property rights and free will are instituted to encourage people to participate in financial services. When it comes to using innovative facilities to enhance freedom‐induced inclusivity in finance, technical and financial knowledge should be enhanced in addition to lowering the cost of using innovative facilities to access financial services in order to eliminate the threshold levels at which innovative facilities reduce inclusive finance SSA.

Optimization and analysis of methanol production from CO2 and solar-driven hydrogen production: A Danish case study

This paper presents a comprehensive techno-economic analysis of the world's first large-scale commercial Power-to-X (PtX) plant in Kassø, Denmark. This innovative facility combines solar photovoltaic (PV), an electrical grid, green hydrogen production, methanol synthesis, and district heating in an integrated system. We conduct an in-depth analysis to explore optimal operating conditions, the potential for sector coupling within the power and heat sectors, and the economic feasibility of the integrated system. In particular, we study different scenarios considering changes in solar PV power generation, electricity market price, CO2 price, and methanol price to explore their impacts on the system performance. Our results show that the electrolyzer's operation, a pivotal component of the system, heavily depends on the electricity spot price as well as the methanol price. Based on the green production of methanol, a premium price of 4800 DKK/t (0.64 €/t) is considered in this study (selling price of 8400 DKK/t). The results show that in case of high electricity prices (2022 spot market) or no premium price for methanol, the optimum annual production of methanol decreases by 58% and 67%, respectively. Furthermore, we observe that the variability of solar power output significantly impacts the plant's performance and economic viability, as it supplies about 30% of the plant's power consumption. Although the results are unique to the Kassø plant, the study's techniques and insights can be applied to other comparable systems around the world. The study also highlights how crucial it is to take market, climate, and technical factors into account when developing and running integrated energy systems.

The n_TOF facility at CERN

The neutron Time-of-Flight facility (n_TOF) is an innovative facility operative since 2001 at CERN, with three experimental areas. In this paper the n_TOF facility will be described, together with the upgrade of the facility during the Long Shutdown 2 at CERN. The main features of the detectors used for capture fission cross section measurements will be presented with perspectives for the future measurements.

Use of marine minerals obtained through an innovative process with added silver for the cultivation and protection of Solanum lycopersicum

Research objective: The aim of this research was to evaluate the stimulating potential of (FertilTomix: a product based on minerals and organic molecules from the sea) obtained from an innovative extraction process and its ability to increase plant defence capabilities following the addition of silver to seeded Solanum lycopersicum plants. Materials and Methods: The experiments, which started in January 2023, were conducted in the CREA-OF greenhouses in Pescia (Pt), Tuscany, Italy (43°54′N 10°41′E) on Solanum lycopersicum cv “Siccagno”. The plants were placed in ø 24 cm pots; 30 plants per thesis, divided into 3 replicas of 10 plants each. The experimentation was divided into two parallel trials, one concerning the growth and biostimulation of tomato plants. The second experiment, instead, concerned the use of sprayed FertilTomix in the protection from pathogenic fungi (Phytophthora infestans, Leivellula taurica). On August 28, 2023, plant height (measured at 70 days after transplanting), plant nodes (measured at 70 days after transplanting), leaf area index, total dry biomass, fruit fresh weight and total fruit number have been evaluated. In addition, plants affected by diseases were counted. Results and Discussion: The experiment showed that the use of FertilTomix, irrespective of the extraction process, was able to significantly increase total plant growth, berry yield and weight, and reduce the mortality of Solanum lycopersicum plants. As found in the experiment in the treated theses, a significant increase in plant height and number of nodes per plant was noted, as well as a significant increase in total LAI. Differences were also noted between FertilTomix as such and FertilTomix enriched with silver; the former product worked better in the vegetative and root stimulation of the plants, while the product enriched with silver defended the plants better against attacks by Phytipthora infestans and Leivellula taurica. The use of this product is very interesting especially for those places where there is no water for irrigation and where fertilisers are scarce. The use of this product could obviate both problems. There are as yet no cost-effective technologies and processes in the world that can extract useful minerals from seawater for plant fertilisation and recycle the process water that can be used for irrigation. Conclusions: The test demonstrated a significant effect on plant growth after the application of certain extracts obtained from an innovative process of extracting minerals from seawater. In addition, it emerged that the product could also be used for plant protection when enriched with silver. This product would be very useful especially in countries where water resources and fertilisers are scarce, with the possibility of producing them on site through innovative facilities.

Smart Campus 4.0: Digitalization of University Campus with Assimilation of Industry 4.0 for Innovation and Sustainability

According to the United Nations, global sustainability in terms of social, economic, and environmental issues must be achieved by 2030. SDGs 4 and 9 are related to education and strengthen the attainment of quality education and infrastructure innovation. Resilient infrastructure plays a significant role in strengthening the campus in terms of education, management, placement and environment. These all aspects come under the smart campus. Smart campus 4.0 is the amalgamation of multitude industry 4.0 enabling technologies for delivering smart and innovative facilities with the aspect of sustainability. The previous studies have proved that the sustainable development goals (SDGs) can be achieved with the amalgamation of industry 4.0 enabling technologies in the campus such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of things (IoT), edge/fog computing, blockchain, robot process automation (RPA), drones, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), big data, digital twin, and metaverse. The main objective of this study to provide the detailed discussion of all industry 4.0 enabling technologies in single research related to smart campus. The findings observed are IoT-Based Drone system is intended to ground patrolling, and a cloud server to develop a smart campus energy monitoring system. AI for campus placement prediction model; cloud and Edge computing architecture to build an intelligent air-quality monitoring system. The novelty of the study, it has discussed all industry 4.0 enabling technologies for a smart campus with challenges, recommendations, and future directions.

The Especial Causes of Weakness behind Learning English language in the Secondary Schools: a Case Study of Rangpur District

The remarkable aim of this research paper is to investigate the difficulties of learning English language among the secondary-level learners of Cantonment Public School & College, Rangpur under Rangpur Division, a northern part of Bangladesh. It is a real statement that many of our learners hardly received standard education of English due to skilled teachers, financial limitations, lack of multimedia project teaching & learning systems, lack of English Language clubs, lack of passion of learners, lack of social attitude, lack of high ambition, poor salary system, lack of government policy & international policy & lack of English learning short films. This case study targets to look at inspiring young learners so that they can be able to build up their basic knowledge of four skills spite of depriving them of innovative facilities. For this intention, the recent research collected all data through a questionnaire and interview process. 20 sets of questions were provided among 20 students to find out their fundamental or basic ideas of English language. In the field survey, 72 participants were selected for interview. They were as follows 20 learners, 12 guardians, and 40 teachers where they were 50 male & 22 female participants in Rangpur District. These questionnaires were used to calculate the major reasons for learners' weaknesses in reading, writing, and & speaking skills. They all expressed their different observations about English language learning obscurities. Many of them responded that students were weak in English Grammar, Vocabulary, listening, reading, writing & speaking skills. After understanding their English learning complexities the researcher came to conclusions and recommendations. Finally this case study would like to show a new dimension of English language learning for the secondary level students at Rangpur District in the northern part of Bangladesh.

Creating an Innovative Blueprint for Barangay Development

This study is focused on the augmentation, extension, and enrichment of knowledge pertaining to the design of a new development plan for Barangay Babuyan in Carrascal, Surigao Del Sur. The central emphasis is placed on the intricate interplay between person-environment relationships, particularly concerning the innovative facilities being designed, notably housing. Through a comprehensive approach, the researchers executed a survey in line with the guidelines established by the Municipal Planning and Development Council (MPDC) of Carrascal. As per the MPDC, the designated relocation site encompasses a total area of 100,000 square meters, with each unit boasting a floor space of 48 square meters and an accompanying lot area of 100 square meters. The proposed project involves multifaceted considerations encompassing critical elements such as road network layout, housing design, electrical and water storage tank plans, drainage systems, and provisions for open spaces. This endeavor integrates a range of methodologies including surveying, on-site investigation, data collection, formulation of a novel barangay development plan, and comprehensive cost estimations. The development of a meticulously designed plan stands as a pivotal solution that addresses various aspects of community growth. This design, projected to efficiently accommodate the entire barangay, is rooted in the observation of a positive 2.33% average population growth rate from 1990 to 2015. Furthermore, the chosen relocation site holds the advantage of being hazard-free, exhibiting low susceptibility to landslides. The newly conceptualized barangay development plan is characterized by an easily accessible road network featuring a width of 6 meters. This network is illuminated by energy-efficient 100W solar LED street lights. In tandem, the plan includes a 3.50m x 3.50m water storage tank and an 8m x 6m house design encompassing a bedroom, living area, kitchen, and shared bathroom. Evaluation of Dementia-Friendly Initiatives, Small-Scale Homelike Residential Care, and Dementia Village Models: A Scoping Review.

Numerous initiatives are emerging to improve the care management of persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease or related disorders (ADRD). The aim of this review is to identify research evaluations of initiatives in long-term care facilities and those making society more inclusive. Scoping review with systematic search of PubMed. Reviewed articles focused on the impact of (1) dementia-friendly initiatives (DFIs), (2) small-scale homelike (SSHL) facilities, and (3) dementia/Alzheimer villages. The intervention targets people (or their carers) with dementia or cognitive impairment. A scoping review was performed on PubMed, including papers published up to November 2022. Further hand-searching from reference lists and the gray literature was carried out. A total of 477 articles were identified initially, and finally 12 more specifically related to the impact of DFI (n= 4) and SSHL facilities (n= 8) were selected. They included preliminary effectiveness analyses on DFI-related training and awareness intervention and comparative studies on an SSHL model. Scarce but promising results were found on the physical functioning, social participation, and quality of life for older adults living in SSHL facilities compared to those living in conventional nursing homes. No quantitative evaluation on dementia villages was published. The article highlights the lack of studies providing data on the efficacy of such innovative facilities on clinical, economic, and social outcomes. Such data are essential to better characterize these models and assess their potential efficiency and reproducibility.

Analisis Struktur Kinerja Kluster Industri Unggulan Di Kabupaten Sidoarjo

This study discusses the analysis of the power structure of leading industry clusters in Sidoarjo Regency. Sidoarjo Regency is one of the districts in East Java Province that has the potential and success in developing the local economy through the formation of industrial clusters. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods by collecting secondary data through literature analysis. The results of the analysis show that factors such as superior natural resources, infrastructure availability, labor skills, research and innovation facilities, and government support policies affect the successful formation of leading industrial clusters in Sidoarjo Regency. Industrial clusters increase productivity, efficiency, innovation and commercialization. This study provides an understanding of the characteristics and dynamics of leading industry clusters in Sidoarjo Regency and the factors that influence efficiency. The results of this study can be the basis for further development to optimize the economic potential of the region with the help of industrial clusters.

Impact of Innovation Quality on the Growth Performance of Entrepreneurial Enterprises: The Role of Knowledge Capital

In the context of the continuous growth of the digital economy, the steady and sustainable development and growth of enterprises are increasingly dependent on the quality of innovation and knowledge capital. Based on the resource-based view and from the perspective of knowledge capital, this paper takes the knowledge capital index composed of human resource capital, innovation and R&D capability capital, innovation facility capital and relational capital as the intermediary variable and explores the mechanism of the influence of innovation quality on the growth performance of entrepreneurial enterprises from the enterprise level. Taking computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing enterprises listed on GEM from 2017 to 2021 as the research object, this paper uses hierarchical regression and Bootstrap methods to explore the specific path of the impact of innovation quality on the growth performance of entrepreneurial enterprises and conducts an empirical analysis and robust analysis. This research shows that the innovative quality of entrepreneurial enterprises can significantly promote growth performance, and knowledge capital plays an intermediary role in it. The conclusion of this paper provides theoretical support for this kind of enterprise to improve the quality of innovation and make good use of knowledge capital and provides an empirical basis and reference for their sustainable and stable growth.

Understanding Post-occupancy Evaluation Processes for Public Healthcare Facilities in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

The following research paper seeks to explore how post-occupancy evaluations (POEs) are undertaken in the nine health jurisdictions across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand and investigate if the process can be strengthened to better inform healthcare design and investment. Healthcare expenditure in both nations is increasing, and the rigorous evaluation of healthcare facilities can provide evidence to improve their return on investment. A POE is a research method used to undertake this analysis, usually 12 months after a facility has been occupied. There is limited information available about how POEs are undertaken in each jurisdiction, and there has never been research conducted to understand these processes across the region. Focus groups were conducted with participants from the government health organization in each jurisdiction to collect qualitative data regarding various aspects of POE processes and barriers to undertaking POEs. Only five of the nine jurisdictions undertake POEs on healthcare facilities (with varied frequencies), and there is no standardized framework in use. However, every jurisdiction does undertake a "benefits realization" process. There is limited involvement of external consultants in POEs or benefits realization processes. POE benchmarks should be established at project commencement, and POE results should then inform future projects. Top-down support is required for POEs to occur. The primary conclusion is that strengthening any evaluation process requires a nuanced approach in each jurisdiction to account for their unique context and challenges. Regular rigorous evaluations are required to feed results into the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines and encourage innovative facility design.

VISUAL READING TECHNIQUE INNOVATION IN FILM SCREENING FOR PEOPLE WITH VISUAL DISABILITIES

Naturally, films are created for humans with normal hearing and vision functions. The question is, is it true that people who have visual disabilities are not able to enjoy movies? A Technical Services Unit of Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs located in Cimahi, West Java, named Sentra Abiyoso, has developed an innovative facilities for people with visual impairments, which is called “Bioskop Berbisik”, meaning whispering cinema. At Bioskop Berbisik, the visually impaired audiences will get help from a visual narrators who tell the storyline of the film. The presence of Bioskop Berbisik Sentra Abiyoso Cimahi is a manifestation of the fifth principle of Pancasila, Social Justice for All Indonesian People, as well as a manifestation of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals, UN General Assembly Agreement in 2015). As a model of social services for people with visual impairments, the presence of Bioskop Berbisik is interesting and important to observe and study, to see how the beneficiaries feel the sensations, and how the expected management strategy could continue consistently. To get the answer, the writers conducted research using the social experimental method with students of SLBN-A Citeurep Cimahi as respondents.The conclusion of the study provides an answer that Bioskop Berbisik of Sentra Abiyoso Cimahi provides great benefits for people with visual impairments. On the other hand, the management of Sentra Abiyoso as a social service facility under the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia needs support from various parties to maintain its sustainability and expand its benefits.

Forest Sharing® as an Innovative Facility for Sustainable Forest Management of Fragmented Forest Properties: First Results of Its Implementation

The forestry sector in Italy and throughout Europe is going through a critical period due to ongoing natural and anthropological processes, such as climate change and the abandonment of rural areas. These processes lead to a constant fragmentation of properties in small forest parcels, with direct impacts on management capacity. In this framework, new sustainable forest management methods are being tested and are shown to be good practices to oppose the decline of forest ecosystems. Their innovative aspects concern the introduction of a form of shared and circular economy, where management is built on the process, rather than on the product. Their technical activities are based on precision forestry systems and digitalization. The new approach takes into consideration the fact that the woods are an asset available to the whole community, in terms of benefits and protection. Forest Sharing® is an example of the application of shared forest management systems, due to which the owner user benefits from several services and opportunities, such as the advanced monitoring platform and the access to investment funds. After eighteen months of activity, the first results of the application of the new management systems can already be seen. Many aspects need further development, such as case studies concerning the enhancement due to forest certification and new recreational activities. Shared forest management systems have the potential to increase the level of knowledge and awareness of citizens about environmental and territorial issues.

Assessment of innovation activity of Kazakhstan regions

In the age of technology, the role of innovation is increasing, the development of which depends on financial investments, which indicates a close relationship between investment and innovation. In this regard, the authors conducted a correlation and regression analysis, which helped to determine the factors influencing innovation activity on the example of the regions of Kazakhstan. As a result of modeling, a high degree of influence on innovation activity was determined by factors such as investment in innovation, as well as the number of created and used innovation facilities. The regression model was tested on the indicators of Almaty, which made it possible to make predictions.

Development directions of the gaming industry as opportunities for people with disabilities

Purpose: The study's main objective was to identify potential directions for developing gaming and virtual reality that can contribute to bridging the exclusion of people with disabilities. The specific objectives were to isolate functioning facilities for people with disabilities in the gaming market and to identify prospects for further development of technology-affecting facilities for gamers with disabilities. Design/methodology/approach: The author discussed existing gaming solutions as facilities for people with disabilities and then presented directions for further industry development about players with various disabilities and disorders. Subsequently, the author pointed out several benefits of gaming for people with disabilities. The paper also includes the author's identified limitations of the analysis made. In the desk research method, the author used the following scientific databases: PubMed, ResearchGate, Taylor and Francis Online. The author based his considerations primarily on foreign literature on the subject. Findings: Video games can benefit people with various disabilities and disorders - improving their physical fitness, sensorimotor coordination, spatial orientation, motivation and self- confidence. Players with disabilities can experience improvements in mental health, well-being, and behavioural change. Games focused on disability as a starting point stand out enormously. Identifying barriers among players with disabilities presents an opportunity to improve game design and development practices. Social implications: Inclusivity and diversity in games mean opening up to an increasingly wide range of players - without dividing them by gender, ethnicity, cultural background or type of disability. A socially desirable approach in this regard should result in the ability to personalize characters in games with different skin colours, body sizes, and stories related to culturally diverse characters. In doing so, game designers should focus on friendly and healthy communication during gameplay. Originality/value: The author directed the article to all interested in the gaming industry, including gamers with various disabilities and disorders, to make them aware that more and more improvements are for excluded groups. The numerous benefits for gamers with disabilities speak for the right direction of the industry. In the author's opinion, it is necessary to systematically check reports from the gaming world in the context of innovative facilities that contribute to bridging the exclusion of people with disabilities. A Criteria Catalog of Innovation Facilities at Higher Education Institutes: An Observational Approach

The present paper deals with designing a criteria catalog for the definition and characterization of academic innovation facilities established within premises of higher education institutes. The in-depth content analysis of available scientific literature on the topic and web description of existing innovation facilities from their official websites is carried out following a purposive observational approach. As a result, a criteria catalog of 12 aspects including 6 functional and 6 structural aspects along with their possible field configurations is devised and proposed herein. The proposed catalog should assist in defining a particular innovation facility in more standardized manner and thereby serve as a guideline for planning and establishing new academic innovation facilities. The catalog should also enable to cross-compare and distinguish multiple innovation facilities across different geographies in order to reveal their relative strengths and weaknesses.
