Study on the Planning and Scheduling Strategies of the Hydrogen Supply Network for Road Transportation in Deep Decarbonization Scenarios

As the energy decarbonization continues to advance, hydrogen is gaining momentum. With the increasing demand for hydrogen and the lack of hydrogen infrastructure, it is urgent to solve the problem of hydrogen supply network layout planning. In order to reduce redundant construction of hydrogen supply network infrastructure and increase the rationality of its layout, this paper conducts research on the optimal layout planning of hydrogen supply network infrastructure in the transportation sector. By constructing a two-stage real-time scheduling model of hydrogen supply network, the unit cost composition of hydrogen supply network is more complete and accurate, and the location, technology type and quantity of each link of hydrogen supply network are obtained. The results show that the unit cost of China's hydrogen supply network is 27.8 CNY/kg in 2035 and 19.04 CNY/kg in 2050 under the baseline scenario. Compared with the results of existing literature, the two-stage real-time scheduling model can reduce by 7% of the hydrogen energy supply network unit cost by decreasing the transportation vehicles and the investment capacity of fixed hydrogen storage equipment. The proposed method of the hydrogen supply network planning can provide policy-makers with the selection of sustainability pathways for dynamic hydrogen infrastructure development planning.

Strategy to Strengthen Halal Tourism

Java Province has many natural tourist attractions, especially in Trenggalek Regency. In Indonesia, the development of tourism with a halal concept is becoming a trend. Several tourist attractions are competing to create or change their tourist attractions into halal tourism so that Muslim tourists who come to visit feel safer. This study aimed to determine the critical aspects of developing halal tourism in Trenggalek Regency. This research method is qualitative, using SWOT analysis. The results of this study indicate that the potential for natural beauty in Trenggalek Regency is an aspect that can positively impact the strengthening of halal tourism and increase regional income because of the many existing opportunities. Strengthening halal tourism in Trenggalek Regency is in quadrant 1, namely in the strengths and weaknesses (SO) strategy, so that strategies to increase visitor attraction can be carried out by improving the quality of tourism by utilizing existing opportunities. Overall, this study provides a strategic framework for the development of halal tourism in Trenggalek Regency, which has broad implications for economic growth, cultural expansion, infrastructure development, stakeholder collaboration, and policy planning.

The paradox of urban decline in India

Urban shrinkage has become a global challenge in the field of urban studies. Despite significant progress in understanding urban shrinkage in developed countries, further exploration is necessary to comprehend the recent emergence of urban shrinkage in developing countries. This study explores the spatial pattern of urban shrinkage and urban decline and examines the associated factors of population decline in Indian urban centers. The phenomenon of urban decline in India presents a paradox as the country witnesses a steady growth in urbanization, yet some urban centers are facing a decline in population. Results showed that every one in nine urban centers was declining, with one-fifth of them shrinking in terms of population. The urban growth rate and level of urbanization are major contributing factors to this decline, along with city-level characteristics such as small population size, low population density, low fertility, and a higher aging population. To address this rising threat, urban policymakers in India must plan for the growth and development of declining and shrinking cities through revitalization programs, capital investment, infrastructure development, and micro-regional planning. Further, encouraging inclusive development for small and larger cities can help achieve sustainable urban development in India.

아태지역 ODA사업 지원을 위한 대상국 선정 및 지원 사업 연구

Purpose: This study aimed t o e stablish strategies for strengthening t ransport networks in the Asia-Pacific region and select countries for support to improve port and logistics infrastructure. Research design, data, and methodology: Cluster analysis was used to select the target countries for support. The analysis was based on 15 variables, including GDP, economic growth, population, import and export growth, tariff rates, import tax rates, and container volumes, derived from literature studies of 53 UN ESCAP member countries. Cluster analysis was performed using a primary cluster analysis utilizing the quantitative variables and a secondary cluster analysis with qualitative variables. Results: The analysis identified 10 countries (Kiribati, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Vanuatu) as candidates for support. For each of the 10 selected countries, 10 support projects were proposed, considering the current status of shipping and ports in the country and national infrastructure development plans. Conclusions: The smooth progress of a project requires a consideration of the form and type of ODA support, support port facilities that can handle various cargo, and propose solutions to the problem of volume generation.

Meeting the charging demand of Electric Vehicles in Greece: Enabling intercity trips

The increasing need for sustainable transportation has underscored the pivotal role of electric mobility in shaping the future of mobility. Electric Vehicles (EVs) have emerged as a promising solution, but their widespread adoption is contingent upon the availability of a reliable charging network. This challenge extends even to EV adoption pioneers like Norway and China. This study delves into the context of EV adoption in Greece, providing insights into the EV market, existing incentives, and the state of charging infrastructure. Reports indicate that Greece is at a critical juncture, with fast EV adoption but sluggish development of Charging Stations (CSs). To address this issue, a Monte Carlo simulation is employed to evaluate the feasibility of long-distance EV trips in Greece and propose an infrastructure development plan. For EVs, the study reveals a linear relationship between battery size and autonomy, with some exceptions emphasizing the importance of data acquisition and individual EV assessment. The study also provides insights into the relationship between trip length and energy consumption, indicating that longer trips exhibit greater fluctuation in energy consumption due to varying conditions, while energy usage patterns of shorter trips are more predictable. Additionally, the analysis presents average energy consumption values for each EV model in different temperature conditions, highlighting the impact of environmental factors on EV performance.

Traffic planning in modern large cities Paris and Istanbul

The enhancement of flexibility, energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness constitutes a widely acknowledged trend in the development of urban infrastructure. The proliferation of various types of transportation vehicles exacerbates the complexity of traffic regulation. Intelligent transportation systems, leveraging real-time traffic status prediction technologies, such as velocity estimation, emerge as viable solutions for the efficacious management and control of urban road networks. The objective of this project is to address the complex task of increasing accuracy in predicting traffic conditions on a big scale using deep learning techniques. To accomplish the objective of the study, the historical traffic data of Paris and Istanbul within a certain timeframe were used, considering the impact of variables such as speed, traffic volume, and direction. Specifically, traffic movie clips based on 2 years of real-world data for the two cities were utilized. The movies were generated with HERE data derived from over 100 billion GPS (Global Positioning System) probe points collected from a substantial fleet of automobiles. The model presented by us, unlike the majority of previous ones, takes into account the cumulative impact of speed, flow, and direction. The developed model showed better results compared to the well-known models, in particular, in comparison with the SR-ResNet model. The pixel-wise MAE (mean absolute error) values for Paris and Istanbul were 4.299 and 3.884 respectively, compared to 4.551 and 3.993 for SR-ResNET. Thus, the created model demonstrated the possibilities for further enhancing the accuracy and efficacy of intelligent transportation systems, particularly in large urban centres, thereby facilitating heightened safety, energy efficiency, and convenience for road users. The obtained results will be useful for local policymakers responsible for infrastructure development planning, as well as for specialists and researchers in the field. Future research should investigate how to incorporate more sources of information, in particular previous information from physical traffic flow models, information about weather conditions, etc. into the deep learning framework, as well as further increasing of the throughput capacity and reducing processing time.

The application of a low-cost microcomputer logger with pressure-temperature based sensor for coastal observations: A preliminary study

Abstract Nearshore hydrodynamics, such as water level fluctuations, field observations play a crucial role in understanding and monitoring the dynamics of the coastal region. The observed parameters provide insight into oceanographic processes, climate change impacts, and the behavior of marine ecosystems that could be valuable for coastal management and infrastructure development planning. Most of the available hydrodynamic loggers are provided by companies with relatively high prices. Due to limited budgets, many areas including Indonesia waters, have limited hydrodynamic observation data. In this paper, we presented a prototype of a simple (DIY-Do It Yourself) and low-cost water level logger with a microcomputer that could be applied in coastal regions. The system consists of a pressure-based sensor to detect water level fluctuations, a temperature sensor, a single-board microcomputer and data logger, and a power supply with different sampling frequencies for various coastal applications. The result showed the ability of the microcomputer system to measure high-resolution water levels and temperatures applicable for non-directional waves, tides and non-tides observations, and ecological monitoring. The microcomputer’s low power consumption makes it suitable for long-term coastal observations, even in remote or battery-powered applications. The body of the logger is designed from PVC-nylon with sensors made from waterproof and corrosion-free materials to ensure its applicability for coastal monitoring. Moreover, the flexibility of the microcomputer system allows for customization and adaptation to specific research requirements at relatively affordable prices.

Assessing soil vulnerability in Petobo post-liquefaction zone, Palu, Central Sulawesi: A microzonation study utilizing microtremor measurements

On September 28, 2018, a 7.5 Richter magnitude earthquake struck the Palu City neighborhood of Petobo. The tectonic activity along the Palu-Koro fault generated this earthquake, which resulted in soil liquefaction. The purpose of this study is to use microtremor measurements at 33 distinct places to investigate the properties of the soil layer after liquefaction. The obtained data was then evaluated utilizing Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) methodologies such as Ground Shear Strength (GSS), amplification factor, and vulnerability index to determine the soil layer's properties and susceptibility. The dominant frequency ranges from 0.19 to 4.75 Hz, while the dominant period ranges from 0.21 to 5.17 seconds, according to the measurement results. According to these measurements, the silt layer varies between 5 and 30 m. GSS values in the 10-4 to 10-2 range indicate that soil cracking, subsidence, liquefaction, landslides, and compaction are likely. The soil vulnerability and amplification index values range from 2.36 to 4.37, respectively. These values show the potential level of danger, which might be low, medium, high, or extremely high. Peak ground acceleration varied from 299.52 to 301.52 gals, suggesting high to extremely high danger levels. The microzonation map created for this study is considered to be a useful resource for training disaster mitigation approaches and facilitating infrastructure development planning in the region.

Perencanaan Pembangunan Infrastruktur Berbasis SDGs (Pilar Lingkungan Hidup) di Kabupaten Bojonegoro

This research aims to find out and analyze how the SDGs-based development planning system on the environmental development pillar. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods, data collected through interviews and observations at the Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA), the Environmental Agency (DLH), and several communities directly affected by infrastructure development in Bojonegoro Regency. The data analysis method was carried out using the Miles and Huberman method, which has three stages of analysis. The theory of the planning process proposed by Berry (1993) in Mahi and Trigunarso (2017) was used in this study. The results showed that infrastructure development planning has been carried out in Bojonegoro Regency, but the existence of infrastructure development programs shows that these programs affect environmental conditions, especially affecting the proportion of green open space (RTH). Overall, the infrastructure development plan in Bojonegoro Regency has not fulfilled the perspectives in the SDGs, especially in the environmental development pillar.

Assessing the Impact of Foreign Direct Investment on Unemployment Rate in Nigeria

Recent studies have shown that high rate of unemployment as currently witnessed in Nigeria, is one of the factors that can undermine the attainment of goal eight (Decent work and Economic growth) of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by year 2030. Since foreign direct investment (FDI) is an important factor in creating jobs and improving economic growth, it is considered a veritable tool for reducing the unemployment level. Although there have been studies on FDI and unemployment in literature, there is hardly any study on the impact of FDI on rural and urban unemployment. The study pursued threefold objectives which are to ascertain the impact of FDI on aggregate unemployment in Nigeria; to examine the impact of FDI on urban unemployment rate in Nigeria and to determine the impact of FDI on rural unemployment in Nigeria. The study utilized data from 1990 to 2020 as well as dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) which eliminates problems of endogeneity and serial correlation. The theoretical framework of the study is anchored on the Keynesian theory of unemployment. The result obtained showed that FDI has a significant impact on aggregate and urban unemployment in Nigeria. However, FDI did not impact significantly on rural unemployment in Nigeria. To effectively use FDI to reduce unemployment, the Nigerian government needs to create an enabling business environment, including favorable investment policies, streamlined regulatory procedures, and infrastructure development plans. Encouraging collaboration between foreign investors and local stakeholders, promoting technology transfer, and implementing strategies to enhance the skill levels of the local workforce are also important aspects to consider.

Where is the basic community infrastructure? Seeking for rural community transformation through community infrastructure planning in Sarawak, Malaysia

PurposeThis study investigated the role of community infrastructure planning in Sarawak, Malaysia, by concentrating on the obstacles that hinder effective governance of community infrastructure planning.Design/methodology/approachThe qualitative approach via case study design was adopted in this study. The Song District, located in the State of Sarawak, Malaysia, was selected as the case study area. Semi-structured interview sessions were conducted with 21 respondents who belonged to the government agencies involved in rural community infrastructure planning and village community representatives to capture their views on community infrastructure development planning in the selected district. The gathered responses were analysed thematically and the outcomes are discussed.FindingsThe findings revealed that although the development of community infrastructure in Song District has progressed and has exerted transformative impacts on rural livelihood, several challenges were identified in the delivery of community infrastructure. The four main themes of challenges that emerged from the data were location factors, financial resources, cooperation and collaboration of stakeholders, as well as community involvement. The outcomes disclosed that, in terms of governance, the institutional roles of the community, stakeholders and government agencies must be integrated throughout the rural community infrastructure planning process to resolve the emerging challenges effectively so that the demands of the rural community are met meritoriously.Social implicationsAn effective and efficient community infrastructure planning approach ascertains that the community infrastructure development gaps in rural areas are bridged and brings fruition to the rural communities for their livelihood transformation.Originality/valueThis paper delineates a view on the governance aspect of community infrastructure planning in Sarawak, Malaysia, that is largely untapped. The study outcomes may facilitate practitioners and academics to move forward and recommend improvements in the approach to rural community infrastructure planning.

Charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in New Zealand

The uptake of electric vehicles (EV) is closely interlinked with the availability of charging infrastructure. Fast charging stations (FCS) can facilitate the uptake of EV, but their installation requires significant investments affecting their profitability. An optimal determination of charging locations and capacities based on associated costs can help to provide infrastructure efficiently. As initial FCS affect installations and costs in later years, a strategic infrastructure development plan over multiple years is required to expand the infrastructure to satisfy the charging demand of a growing EV fleet, while pursuing the goal of minimal costs. Based on former work, a model for the investment-optimal allocation and sizing of FCS over multiple years (including costs for grid connection) is developed. For the first time, a multi-periodic capacitated Arc-Cover Path-Cover formulation with an investment-optimal objective is proposed and applied to New Zealand. The results are analysed with respect to the locations and sizes of FCS, the impact on the coverage of traffic flows, and the related trends over time. They indicate that FCS are to be located along highly trafficked corridors in densely populated regions for being applied profitably. The chosen station locations have below-average installation costs and are capable of covering high shares of EV traffic on inter-regional and highly frequented routes.

Implementation of Infrastructure Development Planning in Deli Serdang Regency

This research aims to identify the implementation of development planning and explain the impact of development planning in 5 (five) villages in Deli Serdang Regency in terms of infrastructure, including road construction and physical improvements. Additionally, this research also aims to analyze the factors hindering the implementation of development planning, explore the root causes of issues, and present recommendations for improvement. This study is analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach, with 11 (eleven) individuals selected as research samples, and data collected through in-depth interviews, documentation, and field observations. Furthermore, data is analyzed through the processes of reduction, presentation, and verification to ensure the validity and reliability of the research results. The research findings show that, in general, the implementation of regional development planning still has several complex and interconnected shortcomings. The main factors that can lead to failures in the implementation of development planning results include budgetary constraints, often limited resources of the community, and inadequate organizational or regional apparatus resources in carrying out their tasks. Additionally, changes in proposed activities often become a cause of inconsistency between planning and implementation. Not only that, there are additional factors that complicate the situation, such as the role of the government and regional apparatus as formulators of public policies that significantly impact the success of the implementation of development planning. The government's and regional apparatus' role in directing policies can create dynamics that influence the final results of implementation.

E-mobility Concept implementation in the function of sustainable Tourism development managing

Planning as sustainable mobility function requires new approaches and new planning concepts that encourage the transition to cleaner and more sustainable transport modes such as walking, cycling, public transport, new patterns of car use and ownership, and the adoption and use of new technologies as indispensable support for sustainable mobility development. This approach aims to satisfy the mobility needs with a healthier environment and a better quality of life, since healthy and ecologically clean environments are becoming more attractive, both for the local population and for tourists, which can be especially important for those local communities with special tourist potential and developed tourist offer. Given the fact that electric mobility contributes significantly to the climate change mitigation through the reduction of pollutant emissions using different types of electric vehicles, it is necessary to consider the possibility of using e-mobility in order to strengthen the offer of tourist destinations while simultaneously protecting these areas from excessive noise, pollution, usurpation and deterioration of the quality and appearance of tourist areas. Considering that the city of East Sarajevo, as one of the tourist attractive local communities in terms of the diversity of the tourist offer with a scattered concentration of tourist destinations on predominantly hilly terrain, this paper will present the concept of introducing a bike-sharing system, an electric bus and an eco-taxi vehicle in the function of tourists transportation system with supporting infrastructure development plan, all based on tourist demand data analysis.

Development communications through forum in participation and motivation of village communities in Indonesia

The public's perception of development in the era of digitalization and the current global village provides a motivational meaning for the participation of citizens as a whole and government administrators. This study aims to determine the perceptions and motivations of the community in village development meetings. The research approach used is descriptive-qualitative with narrative analysis based on the results of interviews with informants. The results of the study show that participating in development can provide motivation and obtain a common opinion that refers to the information conveyed by the leadership so that they are more enthusiastic about carrying out development. The motivation for community involvement places more emphasis on the decision-making process in community institutions—participation as a form of community emancipation in the process of involvement in infrastructure and economic development planning. The contribution of this research in theory can provide knowledge about the common perception of the community that deliberation is an effective model of communication in development communication.Recommendation: Subsequent research is on social construction regarding gender equality, village apparatus, and village institutions in the motivation of village development meetings.

An activity space-based gravity model for intracity human mobility flows

Modeling and estimating urban human mobility flows is significant to multidisciplinary applications such as transportation engineering, urban planning and epidemic prevention. In recent decades, a wide range of trip distribution models for urban human mobility flows have been developed, among which the gravity model is the most classic and widely used. However, like most of the existing trip distribution models, the original gravity model adopts population as the proxy of urban region's attractiveness, which could not fully reflect the urban region's attractiveness as well as its temporal dynamics. Moreover, the original gravity model depends on the selection of proper distance decay functions, which require context-specific adjustable parameters derived from empirical mobility data. Taking advantage of the notion of activity space, we innovatively develop a proxy of urban region's attractiveness, and further propose a new activity space-based gravity (ASG) model. The case study results show that the ASG model significantly outperforms the original gravity model in estimating the overall human mobility flows and the hourly human mobility flows between urban regions. This study contributes to the state-of-the-art understanding of urban human mobility and human mobility flow modeling. The findings also provide insights into transportation management, infrastructure development and urban planning.

KETERLIBATAN PEREMPUAN DALAM MUSRENBANG TINGKAT DESA KOTA BANDA ACEH

The Development Planning Conference is a means for government at all levels to gather development aspirations in all areas of community life. However, unfortunately, so far Musrenbang activities at all levels still face low participation from women's groups, in fact their participation tends to be considered only symbolic. As a consequence, many planned programs are gender biased, where discussions are dominated by infrastructure and economic development plans. Based on this, the author is interested in comparing the level of women's participation in the Village Development Planning Conference (Musrenbangdes) in Gampong Beurawe and Gampong Jawa which have quite different levels of development to see the level of women's participation in Musrenbangdes in the two gampongs. Apart from that, we will see what factors influence high or low participation in the two gampongs. This research uses a comparative analysis method with a qualitative approach and data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation obtained from the two variables studied. The results of this research show that the level of women's participation in Gampong Beurawe is better than the level of women's participation in Gampong Jawa in the Musrenbangdes in both gampongs. The factors that influence high and low levels of participation are educational, cultural and political factors.

Infrastructure Development in the UK: Key Drivers and Implementation Challenges.

Infrastructure is a critical factor in fostering strong and sustained economic growth, hence, sufficient attention should be given to the allocation of investment. Although UK infrastructure investment have risen in line with the global trend, the level of investment remains in the lower percentile when compared to other leading countries such as Singapore and China. The study examines the challenges of infrastructure development in the UK and explored the policies required to stimulate investment. Using semi-structured interviews, the views of key stakeholders involved in infrastructure operating across key sectors of transport and energy were captured to gain an insight into the key policy drivers of infrastructure investment. Findings from the research suggests that policy changes are required to stimulate significant investment if the UK is to become a world leader in infrastructure. Key criticisms of UK infrastructure policy focussed on comparatively low level of investment, inadequate collaboration between key stakeholders, and the regional bias of investment in favour of London which disproportionately affects the Northern regions. To facilitate economic growth, the identification of future investible pipeline of infrastructure projects, increasing collaboration with local stakeholders and addressing the regional biases will be critical to ensure synergy and ownership and to scale up the implementation of UK future infrastructure development plans. Considerations should also be given to the need to set up infrastructure banks similar to what is in operation in other countries such as China and Singapore to stimulate private investment and to complement public sector budget allocations. Improving infrastructure project implementation through institutional coordination will boost economic growth post Brexit, support the development of new trading agreements and enhance the country’s economic performance after the pandemic.

KAJIAN INFRASTRUKTUR SEBAGAI DASAR PENGEMBANGAN KAWASAN MINAPOLITAN DI KABUPATEN INDRAMAYU

The minapolitan area comprises one or several centers of rural production activities such as fishery production systems and management of specific natural resources and agribusiness. Regional functional connectivity and hierarchy in spatial units are the most important in maintaining administrative, institutional, and business systems. In the Decree of the Minister of Number KEP.32/MEN/2010 and the Decree of the Regent of Indramayu Number 523/Kep. 24-Diskanla/2011, Indramayu Regency was designated as the location for constructing the Minapolis area. Indramayu Regency is an area that has excellent potential for fisheries and marine production, with a production yield of over 150,000 tons per year. However, this situation is not matched by the availability of adequate infrastructure with a lack of supporting infrastructure in the Minapolitan area, where downstream production is growing. The purpose of this study is to assess the infrastructure of the Minapolitan area as a basis for developing the infrastructure of the Minapolitan area in the form of development directions. The method used is mixed, where the analysis is based on quantitative aspects while strengthening the justification is carried out qualitatively. The results obtained from this study show that the development of regional productivity development needs to be integrated with an adequate infrastructure development plan. Infrastructure development is based on the partial needs of fishermen groups and sector authorities that handle them. The grand design of the Minapolitan area is not carried out by the local government either with a cooperation scheme or a vertical assistance scheme. Infrastructure development is carried out with the capacity of the district government itself. Therefore, priority infrastructure deficiencies include fish seed centers, hatcheries, springs, cold storage, fish auctions, and accessibility between regions.
