Digital Information Ecosystems in Modern Care Coordination and Patient Care Pathways and the Challenges and Opportunities for AI Solutions

The integration of digital technologies into health care has significantly enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of care coordination. Our perspective paper explores the digital information ecosystems in modern care coordination, focusing on the processes of information generation, updating, transmission, and exchange along a patient’s care pathway. We identify several challenges within this ecosystem, including interoperability issues, information silos, hard-to-map patient care journeys, increased workload on health care professionals, coordination and communication gaps, and compliance with privacy regulations. These challenges are often associated with inefficiencies and diminished care quality. We also examine how emerging artificial intelligence (AI) tools have the potential to enhance the management of patient information flow. Specifically, AI can boost interoperability across diverse health systems; optimize and monitor patient care pathways; improve information retrieval and care transitions; humanize health care by integrating patients’ desired outcomes and patient-reported outcome measures; and optimize clinical workflows, resource allocation, and digital tool usability and user experiences. By strategically leveraging AI, health care systems can establish a more robust and responsive digital information ecosystem, improving care coordination and patient outcomes. This perspective underscores the importance of continued research and investment in AI technologies in patient care pathways. We advocate for a thoughtful integration of AI into health care practices to fully realize its potential in revolutionizing care coordination.

Strong Anisotropy and Giant Photothermoelectricity of 1D Alloy Nb3Se12I-Based Photodetector for Ultrabroadband Light-Detection and Encryption Imaging Application.

Securing high-capacity and safe communication holds great potential for ushering in the new era of digital society. In this study, a wide-band photodetector based on the quasi-1D niobium selenide compounds (Nb3Se12I), showing up photothermoelectric (PTE) dominated multiple synergistic effects with high responsivity across a wide wavelength range from deep-ultraviolet (254nm) to terahertz (0.30 THz), providing an efficient strategy for high-capacity optical processing is introduced. Combined with the polarized-sensitive property of the Nb3Se12I photodetector, an encrypted imaging technology using polarization-resolved PTE current is developed. This technology is capable of transforming encrypted messages into polarization states, which can be restored through a specially designed decryption algorithm, greatly enhancing the concealment and security of the information transmission process. Overall, the Nb3Se12I-based detector manifests in terms of high responsivity (283.2 A W-1 to 520nm, 1632.4 A W-1 to 980nm, and 1868.1 A W-1 for short-wave infrared light of 2200nm), suitable response speed of 43 µs for 0.30 THz wave and polarization anisotropy ratio of 1.83. The versatile abilities of photodetector in the realm of ultrabroadband polarized detection and encryption imaging may advance the use of anisotropic thermoelectric materials in high-capacity and secure information communication applications.

Study of the Dispersion Compensation Double-Layer Diffractive Optical Components Based on Metasurface and Grating, and Their Application in Augmented Reality Displays.

We employed a double-layer coupled diffractive optical element, based on metasurfaces and diffraction gratings, which exhibits wavefront modulation and chromatic dispersion compensation. Utilizing this double-layer coupled diffractive optical element in the optical information transmission process of a diffractive waveguide allows for the transmission of color image information using a single-layer waveguide structure. Our results demonstrate that, under the conditions of a field of view of 47° × 47°, an entrance pupil size of 2.9 × 2.9 mm2, and an exit pupil extension size of 8.9 mm, the uniformity of the brightness for each monochromatic field reached 85%, while the uniformity of color transmission efficiency exceeded 95%.

Research on Vehicle Pose Detection Method Based on a Roadside Unit.

Vehicle pose detection plays a vital role in modern automotive technology, which can improve driving safety, enhance vehicle stability and provide important support for the development of autonomous driving technology. The current pose estimation methods have the problems of accumulation errors, large algorithm computing power, and expensive cost, so they cannot be widely used in intelligent connected vehicles. This paper proposes a vehicle pose detection method based on an RSU (Roadside Unit). First, the on-board GPS performs the positioning of the target vehicle and transmits the positioning information to the RSU through the UDP (User Data Protocol). Next, the RSU transmits a forward command to the OBU (On-board Unit) through the UDP. The OBU sends the command to the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) to control the vehicle forward. Then, the RSU detects and tracks the vehicle. The RSU takes pictures of two images before and after the movement and obtains the coordinates of the four angle points and the center point by image processing. The vehicle heading direction is determined by the moving direction of the center point of the front and rear two images. Finally, the RSU captures the vehicle images in real time, performs the process of tracking, rectangular fitting and pose calculation to obtain the pose information and transmits the information to the OBU to complete the whole process of vehicle pose detection and information transmission. Experiments show that the method can realize accurate and efficient detection of vehicle pose, meet the real-time requirements of vehicle pose detection, and can be widely used in intelligent vehicles.

THE ROLE OF MASS MEDIA IN SOCIALISATION AND WELL-BEING: THEORETICAL ANALYSIS AND PSYCHOSOCIAL ASPECTS

The article undertakes a theoretical analysis of mass media as a means of mass communication, which is a vital factor in the socialisation and well-being of humanity. The article aims to conduct a theoretical analysis of the role of mass media as a crucial factor in socialisation and well-being, to identify its impact on the human psyche, mass consciousness, and behaviour. The article also aims to assess the level of media literacy in Ukraine, investigate both the positive and negative aspects of the influence of mass media on mental health and emphasise the importance of psychosocial support through mass media in crisis situations. The study uses theoretical methods (content analysis, comparative analysis, generalisation, and systematisation) as well as an analysis of empirical data on the level of media literacy in Ukrainian society. It has been found that communication in the internet space should be aimed at immersing individuals in the media environment and oriented towards self-realisation and consumption tools. It has been noted that mass media exert a certain influence on the human psyche, mass consciousness, behaviour, and thoughts, which affects the process of socialisation. The conducted analysis of scientific research showed that the media literacy level among people in Ukraine is increasing. In Ukraine’s information space, electronic means of information transmission dominate. At the same time, it has been emphasised that information can control individuals, affect their psyche, and stimulate their thinking, actions, and deeds. It has been asserted that the process of information transmission is purposeful. It is determined that mass communication is not limited to specific videos or texts as tools of information transmission. It has been found that personal development is an uninterrupted process and continues even in complex and extreme conditions that exist in Ukraine now. It has been established that the crisis is a source of a person’s development. It has been shown that mass media is a useful tool for psychosocial support. One of the most important approaches to psychosocial aid via mass media is the dissemination of helpful information and skills that can help people with various mental states, problems, etc. It has been emphasised that mass media can provide information about professional aid, the availability of useful resources to support mental health, and whatever. It has been found that mass media cannot replace professional psychotherapy or counselling, especially in severe cases. It has been highlighted that mass media can have both positive and negative effects on mental health, particularly causing stress, anxiety, and depression. It also has been noted that mass media have a greater impact on the psyche of teenagers than adults. It has been claimed that the positive impact of mass media includes their ability to effectively and diversely disseminate information, increase the level of users’ education, provide new forms of entertainment and facilitate relaxation, as well as ease communication and establish new communicative connections. On the other hand, mass media can manipulate the psyche and public opinion, and spread fake news and disinformation, leading to a destructive impact on the psyche and developing dependence on them. It has been concluded that media have a significant influence on society, especially on children and youth, hence media literacy becomes essential for effective interaction with mass media and adequate behaviour in the information environment. In the modern world, where media play a crucial role in society and social issues, media literacy becomes an important competence for professionals in the field of psychosocial work. This professionally important quality encompasses understanding media systems, critical thinking, the ability to analyse social problems, readiness to communicate with media, and self- assertion in the media space.

CONTEXTUAL APPROACH TO TEACHING THE ELECTIVE DISCIPLINE “THEORY OF MASS COM- MUNICATION” TO BACHELORS OF PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITIES (SPECIALITIES “GEOGRAPHY” AND “MUSICAL ART”)

The article covers the main principles of the contextual approach in studying the elective course “Theory of Mass Communication” in pedagogical universities. The aim of the article is to substantiate the effectiveness of applying the contextual approach to teaching the elective course “Theory of Mass Communication” to undergraduate students in pedagogical universities (specialties “Geography” and “Music Art”); to develop situational tasks aimed at fostering media literacy, the ability to codify, and the creation of informational sectoral blocks for dissemination in educational and media spaces. In the research, methods of content analysis, specification, problem-posing, as well as task-based and contextual approaches were used. It has been found that the study of university-wide elective courses appeals to interdisciplinarity in thematic correlation. On the one hand, it involves developing a system of situational tasks that contribute to improving the professional training of students in the specialties “Geography” and “Music Art”. It has been substantiated that the contextual approach is oriented towards teaching material based on methodological foundations, theoretical sectoral knowledge, and forms of activity. The context in the study of academic disciplines involves transforming didactic material, where the objective meanings and significance of sectoral knowledge are transformed into the personal experience of the future teacher. The integral platform allows for the design of situational tasks, the resolution of which combines educational and educational-professional experience. Situational tasks, based on the contextual approach to teaching the course “Theory of Mass Communication”, are built considering the professional training of students in higher pedagogical institutions in the specified specialties (“Geography” and “Music Art”). The didactically processed field of mass communication as a university-wide discipline encompasses thematic blocks such as “Basics of Mass Communication”, “Artistic and Aesthetic Parameters of Mass Com- munication”, “Sociological and Psychological Dimensions of Mass Communication”, and “Mass Communi- cation in the Conditions of Digital Society”. A diachronic consideration of the development of mass communications allows for identifying the cul- tural and historical factors that shape the transmission paths of channels aimed at the recipients of certain knowledge. Addressing the diachronic consideration of mass media information significantly expands the un- derstanding of its essence and the processes of information transmission within mass communication models. It has been outlined that the social and psychological aspects of mass communication determine the language behaviour of professional communicators. This specific feature was taken as the basis in develop- ing situational tasks for communicators – future geographers and musicians. The prepared tasks were cor- related with the normative disciplines studied at the stage of professional training. It has been concluded that studying the elective course “Theory of Mass Communication” based on the contextual approach contributes to the development of professional competencies of teachers who transmit sec- toral information in the conditions of the informational educational environment. It has been proved that the study of semiotics of mass communication should be considered at the level of modelling cultural codes (since geographical names, musical and artistic works contain cultural and historical information, which is actualized in educational discourse at the stage of transmitting sectoral knowledge). Situational tasks, aimed at transmitting sectoral information at the level of a professional communicator (manifestation of language culture), should ap- peal to conducting press conferences as a type of communication, building one’s professional image. The expe- rience of students working with advertising material considering the professional training direction is positive.

Why so slow? Models of parkinsonian bradykinesia.

Bradykinesia, or slowness of movement, is a defining feature of Parkinson disease (PD) and a major contributor to the negative effects on quality of life associated with this disorder and related conditions. A dominant pathophysiological model of bradykinesia in PD has existed for approximately 30 years and has been the basis for the development of several therapeutic interventions, but accumulating evidence has made this model increasingly untenable. Although more recent models have been proposed, they also appear to be flawed. In this Perspective, I consider the leading prior models of bradykinesia in PD and argue that a more functionally related model is required, one that considers changes that disrupt the fundamental process of accurate information transmission. In doing so, I review emerging evidence of network level functional connectivity changes, information transfer dysfunction and potential motor code transmission error and present a novel model of bradykinesia in PD that incorporates this evidence. I hope that this model may reconcile inconsistencies in its predecessors and encourage further development of therapeutic interventions.

Utilizing topological invariants for encoding and manipulating chiral phonon devices

As a fundamental degree of freedom, phonon chirality is expected to promote the development of quantum information technology just like electron spin. Currently, central to this area is the realization of efficient transmission and control of chiral information. In this paper, we propose an approach by integrating topological theory, leveraging topologically invariant Chern numbers, to encode hexagonal lattice systems. Our investigation reveals the presence of topologically protected chiral interface states within the shared band gaps of both trivial and non-trivial system units. By precisely modulating the magnetic field distribution within the encoding system, we can effectively manipulate the topological pathways. Building upon this framework, we design and implement a chiral phonon three-port device. Through dynamic calculations, we demonstrate the transmission process of chiral information, showcasing the chiral phonon switching effect and logical OR operation. Our findings not only establish a fundamental mechanism for the manipulation and control of phonon chiral information but also provide a promising direction for research in harnessing chirality degrees of freedom in practical applications.

Spiking Neural Membrane Systems with Adaptive Synaptic Time Delay.

Spiking neural membrane systems (or spiking neural P systems, SNP systems) are a new type of computation model which have attracted the attention of plentiful scholars for parallelism, time encoding, interpretability and extensibility. The original SNP systems only consider the time delay caused by the execution of rules within neurons, but not caused by the transmission of spikes via synapses between neurons and its adaptive adjustment. In view of the importance of time delay for SNP systems, which are a time encoding computation model, this study proposes SNP systems with adaptive synaptic time delay (ADSNP systems) based on the dynamic regulation mechanism of synaptic transmission delay in neural systems. In ADSNP systems, besides neurons, astrocytes that can generate adenosine triphosphate (ATP) are introduced. After receiving spikes, astrocytes convert spikes into ATP and send ATP to the synapses controlled by them to change the synaptic time delays. The Turing universality of ADSNP systems in number generating and accepting modes is proved. In addition, a small universal ADSNP system using 93 neurons and astrocytes is given. The superiority of the ADSNP system is demonstrated by comparison with the six variants. Finally, an ADSNP system is constructed for credit card fraud detection, which verifies the feasibility of the ADSNP system for solving real-world problems. By considering the adaptive synaptic delay, ADSNP systems better restore the process of information transmission in biological neural networks, and enhance the adaptability of SNP systems, making the control of time more accurate.

How Chaos Theory Brings Order to the Evolution of Intelligence

This study investigates links between human evolution, information transmission processes, and Chaos Theory, revealing a mathematical pattern underlying evolutionary milestones. By examining the timing of new methods of information transmission, the research confirms a suspected correlation with the Feigenbaum constant δ, a universal factor in Chaos Theory and also found in complex systems. This pattern is prominent in cultural evolution but also extends to biological evolution, as well as to the evolution of written language, suggesting a predictable framework for understanding the progression of complexity in life. The study incorporates findings from various disciplines, including cognitive science, archaeology, and nonlinear dynamics, providing evidence that our development, while it may be random in most aspects, is deterministic in the way complexity grows steadily and evolves information transmission of increasing sophistication. This multidisciplinary approach offers new insights into the links between chaos, complexity, and information, and their role in driving the evolution of intelligent life.

Machine learning‐based data fusion method for wireless sensor networks

AbstractFor wireless sensor networks (WSNs), sensor nodes lose a certain amount of energy during the information collection and transmission process, and sensor nodes powered by non‐replaceable batteries have limited energy and need to be controlled for energy consumption. In the face of the energy consumption issue in WSN data transmission, research has been conducted to analyze data fusion methods in order to reduce energy consumption. Based on machine learning techniques, a Deep Stacked Auto‐Encoder (DSAE) model is constructed and trained using a layer‐wise greedy approach. By combining this model with WSN, an algorithm based on the DSAE model, called Deep Stacked Auto‐Encoder Data Fusion Algorithm (DSAEDFA), is obtained to do data fusion. The results show that compared to other algorithms, the proposed fusion algorithm has better fusion performance. When the number of iterations is set to 500, the DSAEDFA has 281 surviving nodes, which is 10 more than the Back‐Propagation Data Fusion Algorithm (BPDFA) and 144 more than the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) algorithm. When the number of failed nodes is 40, the DSAEDFA has a network survival time of 2562 rounds, which is 746 rounds longer than the LEACH algorithm. The research method effectively extends the lifespan of wireless sensor networks and reduces data transmission energy consumption. Compared to previous methods, the proposed method consider the factors of node residual energy and distance on the basis of traditional routing protocols, making the selection of cluster heads more reasonable. The proposed method can organically combine the DSAE model with the clustering model, optimize the data fusion method, and improve the performance of the algorithm. In addition, by combining the DSAE model, a machine learning technique with clustering models has been expanded in terms of the application scope.

Affective encounters in higher education

ABSTRACT In this article, we examine how thinking with affect theory offers fertility within higher education studies to see and do teaching and learning differently. For many educators in universities, the idea that teaching is a cognitive process of information transmission is still taken-for-granted. These beliefs are visible through the persistence of nomenclature such as ‘content’, predictable learning ‘outcomes’, and by the dominance of linear teaching aids (such as PowerPoint slides) across the sector internationally. An alternative conception of what teaching and learning is, and does, posits the classroom as a space of emergent relational connections in which learning is experienced as an affective force that constitutes being-in-the-world. To sketch shapes for understanding the affective encounters of teaching and learning, we think with the concept of inconvenience from the work of cultural theorist Lauren Berlant. We offer three illustrative examples of how teaching might be understood as an opportunity to surface, to welcome, and to problematise the inconvenience of others. Our argument is that an engagement with the affective in education can help us in understanding how power relations make themselves felt within the affective currents of educational encounters, as well as enabling educators to recraft their teaching in creative and meaningful ways. We conclude by contending that critical theories of affect can enhance educators’ work towards fostering social justice in the classroom, as well as in moving closer to an enriched understanding of the discomfort and challenge of what it means to teach and to learn.

The application of the internet of things technology in the smart grid

The development of electric power and the energy industry is an important guarantee for national economic development. With the explosion of population and the development of science and technology, the power system needs to be more intelligent and networked to facilitate management and optimization. In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology has continued to develop through the combination of Internet technology and sensor technology, and the fast network transmission speed as well as the miniaturization and refinement of sensing can help the construction of the smart grid. This paper analyzes the application of IoT technology in the smart grid, including different types of smart grid architecture and the practical application of the IoT technology in the whole process of power transmission. Besides, the paper also discusses different application links and network levels. At present, the IoT technology has been applied to the smart grid information collection, transmission, and processing process, participating in information management in the power station, power transmission, substation, and other links. However, due to the complexity of processing the massive data of the power grid and the multiple network connections during the transmission process, ensuring the security of information and networks has become a challenge. While realizing high-speed communication, it is necessary to ensure the security of users as well as the information communication and networks.

Research on User Privacy Issues in VR/AR Class Mobile Apps

With the rapid development of the Internet, an increasing number of devices are interconnected through the Internet, making the protection of user privacy during the information transmission process increasingly prominent. This paper categorizes user privacy issues into computer and mobile devices and analyzes their specific threats. Towards the end of the article, we propose methods for protecting user privacy from three perspectives.

I-SFI model of propagation dynamic based on user’s interest intensity and considering birth and death rate

ABSTRACT Everyone has a different level of interest in a trending topic posted on social media, which may affect user’s behaviour. In order to find out the way it affects the process of information transmission, we construct an interest intensity-based susceptible-forwarding-immune I − SFI propagation dynamic model and two parameters birth rate A and death rate μ are introduced to represent the users who newly join the group of disseminated information and the users who leave this population. And we give different birth rates to people with various levels of interest, which helps us to determine the interest intensity of potential users to a certain extent. We use the forwarding data of the real topic on Chinese Sina-microblog for data fitting, which can accurately parameterize the model and quantify the impact of interest intensity. And sensitivity analyses also give some strategies for increasing the impact of information dissemination process from the perspective of interest intensity.

Are clean and black energy exchange-traded funds driven by climate risk?

ABSTRACT This research paper analyzes the connectivity and spillover effects of climate uncertainty policy in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on clean and black energy. Using monthly data for the period from July 2008 to August 2022, the cDCC-GARCH model and the Diebold and Yilmaz index model approach were applied, revealing connectivity between clean and black energy assets, as well as between these and climate risk, with the latter producing a positive effect on the returns of clean energy assets, contrary to what happens in black energy counterparts. Our results also show that in phases of high climate uncertainty, clean energy assets can help hedge the risk of the black energy segment. In phases of financial turbulence, namely those corresponding to the pandemic crisis and the war in Ukraine, there was a marked intensification in the information transmission processes, giving rise to closer patterns of behavior by the assets studied.

The important role of intelligent water conservancy in the construction of high-standard farmland

Farmlandis the basis of food production,and also the key and difficult point of agricultural development in China.At present, China’s farmland is generally characterized by small scale, scattered distribution, weak infrastructure, and low level of informatization. High-standard farmland construction is an important policy formulated at the national level to ensure food security and promote agricultural transformation and upgrading. It is based on farmland water conservancy and combines information technology and communication technology with high-standard farmland construction, realizing the whole process of information perception, transmission, and management from field to market. However, China’s farmland water conservancy has problems such as backward irrigation conditions and technology, imperfect supervision and management mechanism, and lack of information professionals. The contradiction between agricultural modernization and high-quality development and insufficient demand for farmland water conservancy has gradually become prominent. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of smart water conservancy, and strengthen the use of Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and other technologies to achieve information sharing and data sharing of high-standard farmland construction, to realize the efficient, accurate, and scientific management of high-standard farmland, and to ensure China’s food security.
