Challenges and advantages of electronic prescribing system: a survey study and thematic analysis

IntroductionElectronic prescribing (e-prescribing) systems can bring many advantages and challenges. This system has been launched in Iran for more than two years. This study aimed to investigate the challenges and advantages of the e-prescribing system from the point of view of physicians.MethodsIn this survey study and thematic analysis, which was conducted in 2023, a researcher-made questionnaire was created based on the literature review and opinions of the research team members and provided to the physician. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS software, and qualitative data were analyzed using ATLAS.ti software. Rank and point biserial, Kendall’s tau b, and Phi were used to investigate the correlation between variables.ResultsEighty-four physicians participated in this study, and 71.4% preferred to use paper-based prescribing. According to the results, 53.6%, 38.1%, and 8.3% of physicians had low, medium, and high overall satisfaction with this system, respectively. There was a statistically significant correlation between the sex and overall satisfaction with the e-prescribing system (p-value = 0.009) and the computer skill level and the prescribing methods (P-value = 0.042). Physicians face many challenges with this system, which can be divided into five main categories: technical, patient-related, healthcare providers-related, human resources, and architectural and design issues. Also, the main advantages of the e-prescribing system were process improvement, economic efficiency, and enhanced prescribing accuracy.ConclusionThe custodian and service provider organizations should upgrade the necessary information technology infrastructures, including hardware, software, and network infrastructures. Furthermore, it would be beneficial to incorporate the perspectives of end users in the system design process.

Conceptual framework for Information and Communication Technology applications to enhance eco-efficiency

The quality of community decisions about the key characteristics of urban services depends on the level of involvement of local stakeholder groups. The identification of the environmental, economic and social impacts of investments to improve urban services is a critical aspect of the decision preparation phase. Assessment of the main stakeholder groups being affected by the impacts of urban services is required to understand what kind of problems they perceive. Based on their demand, different solutions can be provided to create an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) software system to facilitate environmental cooperations. The aim of this research is to propose an ICT system to support citizens’ active involvement in the transformation of the environment with access to essential information, and enable them to make more effective decisions about the investments. Most of the features of the proposed system have the potential to support eco-effective environmental policy implementations and form part of a sustainable policy toolkit. We explore the different interests and what functions should be provided to make access to information easier and more integrated. Our proposed conceptual framework would fulfill the requirements and gives practical examples how to increase eco-efficiency of products, technologies or investments in urban areas.

Due to the lack of interest in mathematics which makes elementary school achievement low in Indonesia, for this reason the author tries to make an Android-based 3D Educational Game “Endless Runner” using the Unity3D application with the C # language program and researched using GDLC for learning mathematics cause the genre of this game is suitable for children, where there is no violence, pornography or sara in the Game “Endless Runner”. Establishment and Application of Evaluation System for Objective Management of Music and Aesthetic Education Teaching in Colleges and Universities

Abstract Addressing current challenges in music aesthetic education at colleges and universities, this study introduces an evaluation system rooted in hierarchical analysis to advance goal management in teaching. Expert consensus guided the selection and weighting of evaluation indices across a province’s higher education landscape. Implementing this system through information technology and data analysis software, our research analyzed teaching examples to gauge effectiveness. Results demonstrated improved teaching quality, with experimental and control groups showing average score increases of 1.24 and 1.03 points, respectively. This underscores the system’s potential to elevate the management and organization of music aesthetic education, contributing valuable insights to its evaluation theory and enhancing educational quality in Chinese colleges and universities.

Engineering employability skills: Students, academics, and industry professionals perception

Graduate employability is a major focal point of higher education. Designing curricula that equip graduates with the skills and attributes necessary to gain and retain employment is a challenge for Universities worldwide. This article investigates the perception differential between students, academics, and industry professionals. The aim is to identify the relevant skills and attributes to facilitate the transition of mechanical engineering graduates from education to employment. The results establish an upper second-class degree as the most desirable qualification. Studying a professional-body accredited course and being a student member of a professional institution are seen as crucial, despite the latter not being recognised as such by students. Significant differences are identified in the importance of Information Technology skills and software packages, with an institutional bias identified amongst academics. Lastly, the key skills and attributes to secure graduate employment are determined, with striking differences between industry professionals and students, the former desiring a personal and professional attitude and professional conduct above all else, the importance of which is underestimated by students. The findings provide novel insights into employability skills for mechanical engineers, and it is envisaged they may contribute to aligning engineering curricula with employer expectations, allowing graduates and academics to identify key employability skills and attributes, and improving graduate employment.

Relationship between Agile Maturity and Digital Transformation Success

Digital transformation has become increasingly important for information technology software companies, as it can have a significant impact on the organization's bottom line. However, many companies struggle to achieve success in their digital transformation journey. One of the key challenges that organizations face is the lack of agility. Organizations need to develop their agile maturity levels in order to achieve their desired results. This paper investigates the relationship between agile maturity levels and digital transformation success in information technology software companies. The study also examines the key agile practices that contribute to digital transformation success. A descriptive study was conducted on different software companies. 100 employees working on agile projects were given a survey, and the responses were examined using the SPSS software. In addition to the quantitative data, the study also conducted qualitative interviews with 10 professionals who have implemented agile transformation in their organizations. The findings of the study suggest that there is a significant positive relationship between agile maturity levels and digital transformation success. The correlation analysis revealed a strong relationship between the three agile maturity dimensions (self-organized team, agile project management, and test-driven development) and digital transformation success. It also showed a moderate relationship between the six agile maturity dimensions (performance management, defect prevention, customer availability, requirement management, collaborative development, and regular delivery) and digital transformation success. The paper also found that the key challenge that organizations face in their digital transformation journey is the lack of clarity around the goals of the transformation. The results of the paper have practical implications for agile practitioners and organizations in identifying the order of key areas of agile maturity and activities that should be introduced to achieve a successful digital transformation journey.

The Impact of Information Technology Competencies and Fleet Management Practices on Effective Service Delivery in the Construction Industry

The construction industry plays a critical role in delivering infrastructure and building projects that shape the modern world. With the increasing importance of effective service delivery in this sector, the role of information technology (IT) competencies and fleet management practices has become a crucial focus for improvement. This study investigates the impact of IT competencies and fleet management practices on effective service delivery within the construction industry. Through a mixed-method approach, data was collected from a sample of construction organizations, including surveys and interviews with key stakeholders. The analysis revealed that organizations with advanced IT competencies and optimized fleet management practices demonstrated higher levels of effective service delivery. IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and data storage, significantly influenced fleet management capabilities. Furthermore, regular IT training and development programs contributed to improved service delivery outcomes. Proactive fleet maintenance and route optimization positively impacted service reliability and customer satisfaction. The theoretical findings emphasize the vital role of integrating IT competencies and fleet management practices in achieving superior service delivery in the construction industry. For construction companies seeking to excel in service provision, investing in technology and optimizing fleet management are imperative strategies to enhance performance and maintain a competitive.

Optimizing Municipal Waste Collection: a Case Study of a City in Poland

The main problem of waste management is the increasing amount of municipal waste, and one of the key processes generating high costs is the waste collection process. The aim of the article was to optimize the route of a garbage truck using information technology (IT) software in one of the most populated Polish cities. The article tests the study hypothesis: the use of route optimization software will reduce the route length traveled by the garbage truck of the MZO in Pruszków. The data for the study was made available with the consent of the Municipal Treatment Plant in Pruszków. The received materials included information on, among others, Global Positioning System (GPS) readings of the garbage truck, including route start and end times, route length, average speed, driving time, and time of stops, points selected by the planners to collect waste along the route, information on the amount of waste collected during the implementation of the route, technical data on the moving vehicle and characteristics of the sorting plant were received. The article proposes the optimization of the routes of collection and transportation of municipal waste using the traveling salesman problem (TSP). The minimization of route length was assumed as the optimization criterion. All calculations were made in the Routimo program dedicated to route planning and optimization. As a result of the optimization, the route length was reduced by nearly 32%, and the working time by 9%. Thus, the research hypothesis stated in the article was positively verified.

A validation study for wide-range remote assessment of cognitive functions in the healthy older Japanese population: a pilot randomised crossover trial

BackgroundThe assessment of a wide range of cognitive functions using video teleconference (VTC) systems cannot be applied in practice yet. We aimed to determine the feasibility and reliability of previously unvalidated remote cognitive function tests in Japan using common information and communication technology (ICT) devices, software, and VTC systems compared with face-to-face (FTF) assessment.MethodsThe sample consisted of 26 participants from senior citizens clubs and an employment service centre in Sapporo Japan, including 11 females and 15 males (age averaged 78.6 ± 6.8 years). Tests included the RCPM, Story recall, 10/36 spatial recall, selective reminding test, SDMT, PASAT, FAB, TMT-A, TMT-B, visual cancellation task, digit span, tapping span. The experimental design was a counterbalanced crossover randomised controlled trial. Intraclass correlations (ICCs), paired-samples t-tests, Cohen’s Kappa (κ) coefficients, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were calculated to compare the scores between VTC and FTF assessments.ResultsAll ICCs were significant and ranged from 0.47 (RCPM time) to 0.92 (RCPM score and PASAT), with a mean ICC of 0.75. Digit span using Cohen’s Kappa (κ) coefficient was significant, but the tapping span was not. Paired samples t-test showed statistically significant differences in SDMT, RCPM time, and cancellation time.ConclusionsThe results suggest that remote video conference-based neuropsychological tests even using familiar devices and software may be able to assess a wide range of cognitive functions in the Japanese older population. As for the processing speed tasks, we need to create our own standards for the remote condition. For the tapping span, we should consider increasing the number of trials.

Linking adult learning to knowledge management in a multigenerational workforce

The last years have born witness to immense shifts in the workplace environment; the way people work, their work expectations and work engagement have been modified by both internal and external factors. Distant or hybrid work is no longer a novelty. With increasing remote work becoming a norm, the need for knowledge management (KM) is more evident than ever before. In an era of digitalisation, information technology, social networking and artificial intelligence (AI) software, where the active workforce and knowledge capital of an organization is comprised by four different generations (Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials and Generation Z) the organizational memory and intellectual capacity have to be readdressed. Sustaining a long-term, competitive advantage entails, after all, knowledge management efficacy. How KM processes (knowledge creation, sharing/transfer, acquisition, storage/retrieval and application) are administered and organised is important. For the above reasons, the aim of this paper is to rejuvenate the concept of KM by integrating adult learning theories in the organizational learning culture, and addressing the four different age cohorts of employees. Collection of information and assessment of strategies, tactics and practices is conducted via a systematic review of the literature. The main contribution of this paper involves the way in which adult learning principles can smooth transitions, enrich skills and capabilities, and encourage the development of a collaborative multigenerational knowledge pool that can facilitate overall management. Furthermore, practical and theoretical implications are discussed, limitations are communicated, and opportunities are located that can further enhance knowledge management in the future.

Factors associated with the intention to use information technology in audit in Iraq

PurposeThis study aims to investigate the factors associated with the intention to use information technology in audit (ITIA) in Iraq.Design/methodology/approachThe study uses a quantitative approach based on a questionnaire survey of 186 respondents. The study population includes respondents who are board members, senior executives, internal auditors and information technology (IT) assistants in various Iraqi organizations from different sectors. Structural equation modeling has been used to estimate the results.FindingsThe findings exhibit that most auditors in Iraq use basic IT software. However, among several specialized and advanced IT audit software packages, only generalized audit software is used by about 20%. The results also indicate that social factors significantly and positively impact auditors’ and practitioners’ perceptions of ITIA use. Moreover, the results reveal that companies and auditors who use or audit complex accounting systems perceive higher benefits and intent to adopt ITIA. However, the results report that organizational support, professional support, competency and IT education have an insignificant effect on ITIA adoption.Originality/valueThe originality of the present research lies in several aspects. First, the research study focuses specifically on Iraq, which is an emerging and less developed country influenced by social and economic. This research context provides a unique perspective and contributes to the understanding of ITIA adoption in less developed countries. The study investigates how external factors, including social and external pressure and the support of government professional bodies, affect the adoption of ITIA. Further, it assesses the influence of firms’ specific factors such as management support, level of competency and complexity of accounting information systems. Second, the study uses a quantitative approach with a questionnaire survey from various Iraqi organizations and sectors. The specific sample composition adds originality by capturing insights from different levels of organizational hierarchy and diverse professional backgrounds. Third, the findings shed light on the current IT usage in auditing practices in Iraq, highlighting that most auditors use basic IT software and the limited adoption of specialized IT audit software packages. Finally, the study’s originality is also reflected in its contribution to expanding knowledge on the perceived benefits and challenges associated with ITIA adoption in less developed countries. By emphasizing the need for broader awareness of emerging technology-enabled auditing software and considering the unique characteristics of less developed countries, the research provides valuable insights and implications for practitioners, policymakers and researchers.

Are critical success factors for cybersecurity just technical issues Cybersecurity management and the human factor

Purpose- With the rapid advancement of information and communication technologies, businesses are facing growing security risks. The prevalence, intensity, and complexity of cyber attacks worsen these vulnerabilities, leading to a rising focus on cybersecurity. Enterprises exposed to such cyberattacks might not only face considerable financial losses but also experience data breaches, operational interruptions, harm to their reputation, regulatory penalties, legal expenses, reduced competitive standing, and increased insurance premiums. In this concept study discusses the importance of human factors in cybersecurity management. While organizations spend billions on information technology systems and software to detect and prevent cyber threats, individuals play a critical role in managing these risks. Methodology- Through a review of literature and statistical data, study examines the factors contributing to cybersecurity breaches, the allocation of resources to address them, and proposes potential solutions. Findings- In the workplace, most research on cybersecurity focuses on employees as the most important source of vulnerability. In the literature review, it is understood that an employee’s carelessness and lack of awareness pose the greatest risk to cybersecurity. However, businesses often fail to show sufficient attention to human behavior in their efforts to keep organizational data secure and to plan security strategies. It is important to note that effective cybersecurity management requires not only technical controls but also the management of human factors. Meanwhile, security expenditures in enterprises are often disproportionately allocated to technology investments, with 97% being spent on technology investments, despite the fact that over 85% of breaches are attributable to human factors. Conclusion- In the literature review, it is understood that cybersecurity management is not only related to technical controls, but also the management of human factors is of critical importance. The management of individuals is also an essential cybersecurity responsibility. It is important to adopt a holistic approach to cybersecurity management includes both technical and human perspectives. Cybersecurity awareness has significant benefits for businesses to effectively manage cybersecurity which can be achieved by developing appropriate training programs and foster a cybersecurity culture. Barriers of large-scale energy efficiency modelling of urban building stocks. Methods to overcome them – the case of the Re-Polis platform.

The European Union has set strict goals towards climate-neutral cities by 2050, pushing private and public stakeholders to develop integrated assessment tools for measuring urban buildings’ energy performance and designing sustainable retrofitting strategies. Within this context, efficient energy use modelling of urban built environments, in a precise and transparent manner, is a crucial driver for global cities’ decarbonisation. Thus, rapid developments of bottom-up and top-down methodologies and tools reflect the current international research and technological developments in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) software industry. Combined bottom-up based GIS technologies and building typologies (archetype buildings) enable a detailed energy performance analysis of urban built environments. Since the results are produced for each building unit, these methods offer scalability, starting from single buildings to neighbourhoods and whole cities. In order to assess the energy performance of urban buildings in a bottom-up and efficient way, several aspects must be considered, such as substantial differentiations in archetype buildings according to the use, location, year of construction and each country’s profile. Furthermore, access to pan-European building typologies data, developed with the same methodology, is crucial to overcome such barriers. Moreover, although dispersed methodological tools already exist, no integrated methods have yet been developed, that can be easily used on a pan-European base. As an innovative, cloud-based tool, the Re-Polis platform aims to fill the gap in urban buildings’ large-scale energy efficiency modelling. Within this context, this paper describes all barriers identified during the design of the Re-Polis platform, regarding the development of an end-to-end robust methodological procedure and the decisions that were made to overcome them.

The role of information technologies in education

In the article we find out the possibilities of using information technologies to modernize the educational process in higher education institutions. The article reveals the content of information technologies, describes the possibilities of their application, and shows their role in higher education institutions for the modernization of education. It is noted the functions inherent in the system of information provision of monitoring and quality control of education. The article distinguished the components of information technologies (hardware and software; applied information; the end user of information and the components of the national information system (modern telecommunications infrastructure; distributed computer network; system of national information resources); system-methodological. Information technologies are classified according to several features: the method of process in the information system; the step of treatment of organization tasks; the classes of hi-tech actions carried out; the kind of user interface). Priority directions in the field of informatization of education (introduction of multimedia technology, use of multimedia products in higher education institutions) have been identified. Aspects of information inequality are described (physical access, financial access, cognitive access, access to significant information, and political access). The significance of distance education for today is shown, and its principles are considered.

Nexus between information technology investment and bank performance: The case of Jordan

Bank stakeholders, such as creditors, investors, regulators, and other bank stakeholders, expect continuous performance improvement. To achieve this goal, bank managers can use information technology (IT) as a strategic resource to improve their bank’s capabilities and accordingly gain competitive advantage. In this study, the profitability and efficiency of commercial banks in Jordan are compared to investment in information technology (IT). Return on equity (ROE), return on assets (ROA), and net interest margin (NIM) are used to measure bank profitability while controlling for bank size and financial leverage. Cost efficiency is measured using the cost efficiency ratio. The study sample consists of 13 commercial banks listed on the Amman Stock Exchange between 2010 and 2021. To determine the relationship between the variables, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, the panel least squares approach, and fixed effects multiple regression models are used. The findings show that banks, on average, spend 0.61 percent of their total assets on information technology (hardware and software). Additionally, banks that invest in IT are predicted to perform better over time, as evidenced by their increased profitability and efficiency. Small banks have more IT investment as a percentage of assets than larger banks. In comparison to highly leveraged banks, less leveraged banks typically have a greater IT investment to asset ratio (0.69%). The findings show that profitable banks (measured by ROE) invest more than 1.1% of their total assets in IT. Meanwhile, highly efficient banks also invest more in IT (0.65%) compared to less efficient banks. Proposal of it solution, legal and management regulations for agriculture drones image processing

Traditional agriculture production needs to be improved in order to provide better results, better and healthier products. In the area of information and communication technologies different approaches, techniques, hardware and software tools could be implemented in agriculture production. UAV's aircrafts called drones are very popular these days. Their use can greatly contribute to the improvement of agricultural production. One of the main uses is to collect data by flying over agricultural land. In this way, the condition of crops on large areas can be recorded in a short time. The main task of the research was processing of images collected using drones over agriculture field. Drone usage, and recording of the land is regulated by regulations that are prescribed by civil aviation authorities. The use of drones can lead to unwanted legal consequences if people or objects whose filming is prohibited are found on the footage. Considering the importance of legal regulations in the field of civil aviation, a special place in this paper is dedicated to the legal regulations regulating the use of drones.

Virtual Reality in Interior Designing

There is great potential for ICT in the area of interior design, as seen by the growth of virtual reality software and technology. The use of ICT technologies provides a more accurate picture of the proposal's original concept (the research). With the use of hardware tools like the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, a team of real-time visualizers has made it possible to freely move about within a virtual room and even build it. The state of the art in information and communication technology (ICT) software tools for creating in virtual reality allows for an ever more lifelike simulation. The article proposed a fresh method of virtual reality interior design by leveraging state-of-the-art computer-simulated-reality (CVR) technology and software.

Research on the Application of Digital Design in Landscape Architecture

The progress of digital planning and design of landscape gardens is investigated. Today design is inseparable from the assistance of a computer. However, the progress of digital planning and design of the landscape is behind the rapid development of technology. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out how the common application software is used in landscape architecture design as the main design application method. In each stage of landscape architecture planning and design, designers can use today's information technology and various software to carry out a topographic survey, environmental analysis, planning, and design. Computer-aided drawing provides convenience for designers. The result shows a reference value to maximize the application role and value of digital design in landscape design.
