The digital twins for mine site rescue environment: Application framework and key technologies

In the era of widespread adoption of the new generation of information technology, the crucial development directions for mine site emergency rescue include systematization, precision, intelligence, and diversification. Chinese mines have extensively invested in information technology construction in the field of safety. However, despite these efforts, they still face complex and changing situations following mine disasters. It is often difficult to comprehensively capture all information and devise appropriate rescue plans during the site rescue process. In this context, herein, the scientific connotation of the digital twin system for mine site rescue environment (DTS-MRE) is proposed. Further, its overall architecture, functional characteristics, and key technologies essential for system construction are introduced. The application of DTS-MRE is expected to aid the monitoring, simulation, emulation, coordination, prediction, and control of the entire process of mine emergency rescue governance; increase the success rate of mine emergency rescue; and provide scientific and technological support for mine safety emergency rescue.

IMPROVING KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PROCESS USING BIM IN INDONESIAN STATE-OWNED CONSTRUCTION ENTERPRISES

In today's digital era 4.0, the synergy between the construction industry and information technology is inevitable. Knowledge management plays a critical role in the success of construction companies, enabling them to effectively capture, store, share, and utilize valuable information and expertise. In recent years, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has emerged as a powerful tool that improves knowledge management in the construction industry. This article focuses on implementing BIM in Indonesian state-owned construction companies and how it can improve knowledge management, leading to better project outcomes, efficiency, and competitiveness. BIM-based Knowledge Management (KM) systems can capture, store, and disseminate knowledge to manage facilities through their life cycle. To describe in this study first identified from a literature review how BIM can facilitate improved knowledge management in construction projects. Second, a questionnaire survey of respondents of State Owned Construction Enterprises with ISO 1960 BIM in Indonesia will be further analyzed using a quantitative SEM-PLS analysis to determine the KM types that can be leveled using BIM. The variables used in this study are BIM implementation on KM, processes, effectiveness, and barriers to knowledge management. The results of this study show that BIM performance positively affects KM process improvement, KM effectiveness, and KM obstacle alleviation.

An Integrated Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing Chirp Waveform Processing Method for Joint Radar and Communication Based on Low-Density Parity-Check Coding and Channel Estimation

With the advancement of information technology construction, the integration of radar and communication represents a crucial technological evolution. Driven by the research boom of integrated sensing and communications (ISACs), some scholars have proposed utilizing orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) to separately modulate radar and communication signals. However, the OFDM symbols in this paper incorporate a cyclic prefix (CP) and a virtual carrier (VC) instead of zero padding (ZP). This approach mitigates out-of-band power caused by ZP, in addition to reducing adjacent channel interference (ACI). In addition, we introduce low-density parity-check (LDPC) and use an improved normalized min-sum algorithm (NMSA) in decoding. The enhanced decoding efficiency and minimized system errors render the proposed waveform more suitable for complex environments. In terms of signal processing methods, this paper continues to use radar signals as a priori information to participate in channel estimation. Further, we consider the symbol timing offset (STO) and carrier frequency offset (CFO) issues. In order to obtain more reliable data, we use the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) estimation based on the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) to evaluate the channel. Simulation experiments verify that the system we propose not only realizes the transmission and detection functions but also improves the performance index of the integrated signal, such as the bit error rate (BER) of 7 × 10−5, the peak side lobe ratio (PSLR) of −13.81 dB, and the integrated side lobe ratio (ISLR) of −8.98 dB at a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 10 dB.

Can information technology construction alleviate household energy poverty? Empirical evidence from the “broadband China” Pilot Policy

Energy poverty poses a significant challenge to global sustainable development. With the rapid advancement of information technology, understanding its role in alleviating energy poverty holds great practical significance. This paper conducts a case study of the “Broadband China” pilot policy implemented by the Chinese government and utilizes panel data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) over the 2012–2018 period. In a difference-in-differences framework, we empirically investigate the alleviation effects of information technology construction on household energy poverty and its underlying mechanisms. The main findings indicate that (1) information technology construction significantly alleviates household energy poverty and demonstrates a sustained alleviation effect. These results remain valid after a series of robustness tests. (2) Heterogeneity analysis suggests that factors such as the regional economic development level and geographical location distribution can cause varying impacts of information technology on alleviating energy poverty. (3) Mechanism analysis reveals that information technology construction can alleviate household energy poverty through two potential channels: raising residents’ income levels and enhancing their environmental awareness. The conclusions of this paper provide valuable insights into leveraging information technology construction to alleviate energy poverty.

Analysis of the Role and Influencing Factors of Strengthening Mental Health Education in Student Management

Abstract This paper introduces mental health education into student management, utilizes ID3 algorithm of data mining technology to realize the classification of student information data, and designs the security algorithm of data storage based on C/S structure to complete the security calculation of mental health assessment. Combining the actual measurement results of students’ mental health development, a proposal is made to strengthen mental health education in student management. Taking the development of mental health education as the central perspective, exploring the specific influencing factors of the development of the level and quality of student management information technology construction, the Analysis shows that there is a significant difference between the 22-year-old students and the 18-19-year-old students in terms of information technology application ability. There is also a substantial difference in the quality of students’ participation in student management work with different levels of mental health, and the quality level of management work participated by students with good mental health status is 137.48±7.56, which is more capable of dealing with student management work than student workers with poor mental health status.

Exploring Students’ Acceptance of Construction Information Technology: The Development of a Comprehensive Technology Acceptance Model for the Design of an Education Program at a Japanese University

Construction information technology (CIT), particularly building information modeling, is globally embraced in industry but relatively new to Japanese universities because of its unique interdisciplinary nature. This presents challenges for students and instructors. Promoting the widespread adoption of CIT in Japan necessitates the development of undergraduates’ proficiency in hard and soft engineering. The problem is that Japanese universities lack research and curricula concerning CIT education—a deficiency that raises the need to evaluate students’ perceptions and acceptance of such education. This study is an initial endeavor to fulfill this need, with a view to providing curriculum recommendations and insights into the issue of interest via the analysis of students’ awareness by developing a comprehensive technology acceptance model (TAM). The findings revealed that students’ exposure to and knowledge of CIT during their university education significantly influence their perception of its utility, thereby affecting their acceptance of CIT courses. Their perception of the usefulness of CIT in future employment is a more influential factor in their willingness or readiness to accept and participate in CIT courses than its perceived importance for industry development. To facilitate the advancement of the construction sector, stakeholders should develop an industry–university collaboration-based education program that bridges the gap between academic and industry needs, creates job opportunities for students, and nurtures talent.

Students learning performance prediction based on feature extraction algorithm and attention-based bidirectional gated recurrent unit network.

With the development of information technology construction in schools, predicting student grades has become a hot area of application in current educational research. Using data mining to analyze the influencing factors of students' performance and predict their grades can help students identify their shortcomings, optimize teachers' teaching methods and enable parents to guide their children's progress. However, there are no models that can achieve satisfactory predictions for education-related public datasets, and most of these weakly correlated factors in the datasets can still adversely affect the predictive effect of the model. To solve this issue and provide effective policy recommendations for the modernization of education, this paper seeks to find the best grade prediction model based on data mining. Firstly, the study uses the Factor Analyze (FA) model to extract features from the original data and achieve dimension reduction. Then, the Bidirectional Gate Recurrent Unit (BiGRU) model and attention mechanism are utilized to predict grades. Lastly, Comparing the prediction results of ablation experiments and other single models, such as linear regression (LR), back propagation neural network (BP), random forest (RF), and Gate Recurrent Unit (GRU), the FA-BiGRU-attention model achieves the best prediction effect and performs equally well in different multi-step predictions. Previously, problems with students' grades were only detected when they had already appeared. However, the methods presented in this paper enable the prediction of students' learning in advance and the identification of factors affecting their grades. Therefore, this study has great potential to provide data support for the improvement of educational programs, transform the traditional education industry, and ensure the sustainable development of national talents.

Analysis of the effect of user-understanding-based retrieval system improvement on the application of intelligent archive management

Abstract As a precipitation and accumulation of history, archives management has gradually tended to be digitalized and informalized with the continuous updating and development of modern technology. In this paper, we first study the retrieval system and focus on the Boolean model, vector model, and probabilistic model in information retrieval technology. The matching relationship between documents and queries is detected from the document set for the user’s query, and a relevance retrieval system based on user understanding is proposed to solve the matching problem. The amount of information that needs to be retrieved is growing exponentially, and how a user perceives the information is crucial to the process. Then, in order to solve the problem of insufficient retrieval efficiency caused by the explosive growth of wisdom files, the retrieval system is creatively optimized on the basis of the ant colony algorithm, which effectively improves the efficiency of wisdom file management. The efficiency of the optimized retrieval system is verified and analyzed in an experimental simulation environment. The findings demonstrate that when the amount of archives rises, the retrieval effectiveness of the improved ant colony algorithm described in this study marginally improves, but in 10~35s. As the inventory of the Smart Archives increases, the content retrieval of the archives will become more and more frequent. This study improves retrieval efficiency and serves as a good demonstration for the construction of archival management information technology.

The Influence of the Level of Guarantee of Operating Expenses on the Application of Accounting Software in Public Non- Business Unit

Public non-business units are established by the state to perform public services and distribute those services to society. Through the document research method, the article has generalized the role, function, and accounting form of public non-business units and the importance of accounting. With this method, we can also evaluate the limitations in accounting and the reasons why many public non-business units do not see the need to apply accounting software in accounting. Three reasons were pointed out: unit leaders did not pay attention to accounting work, lack of funding for implementation and incorrectly identified the reasons for errors in accounting planning. The investigation method also helped us identify how accounting software applications are affected by the level of Guarantee of operating expenses. Analysis results have shown that financially autonomous units have a higher tendency to apply accounting software than units without financial revenue. The research team also proposed a number of solutions such as increasing the understanding and awareness of business unit leaders about the importance of accounting work and accounting software. Implement budget estimates for information technology construction at the unit, properly assessing the key points of existence.

SPECIAL ISSUE EDITORIAL: The future of construction in the context of digital transformation (CONVR 2022)

ary This special issue of Information Technology in Construction is dedicated to exploring the future of construction in the context of digital transformation. The inspiration for this edition stemmed from the 22nd International Conference on Construction Applications of Virtual Reality (CONVR 2022), which was held at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea. The overarching theme for CONVR 2022 was “The future of construction in the context of digital transformation and decarbonization”. With over 200 participants attending in person and many more joining online, the conference served as a platform for researchers to present innovative work on VR/AR, BIM, digital twins, IoT, artificial intelligence, construction automation, circular economy, and sustainability in the construction industry. The wealth of knowledge shared during the conference prompted us to invite the authors of outstanding papers to expand their contributions for publication in this special issue. The editors hope that this collection of articles will offer a glimpse into the current state of research on digitalization in the construction industry, and that it will serve as a valuable reference source for further research.

Evaluation on Innovation and Development of University Education Management Informatization Construction Under the Background of Big Data

The purpose of this article is to discuss the innovation and development of university education management informationization construction in the context of big data. Through a comprehensive comparison of innovative and traditional university education management information systems, it reveals the advantages of the innovative model in terms of flexibility, efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and personalized learning. The questionnaire survey and comparative analysis reveal the positive impact of big data on education management. However, it also reveals the limitations of the innovative informationized education management model, which requires more technical input and security. Finally, future research suggestions such as integrating data from multiple sources, promoting personalized education, and incorporating artificial intelligence are proposed to promote the innovation and development of information technology construction for education management in universities. This study provides insights and guidance for university administrators and researchers.

Discussion on the impact of digital inclusive finance on high quality economic development: Empirical research based on cities in the Yangtze River Delta

The article combines the two main development lines of digital inclusive finance and high-quality economic development in the new era, with 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta region as the research object. The digital inclusive finance development index is used to measure the level of digital inclusive finance development in cities, and the entropy weight TOPSIS method is used to measure the level of high-quality economic development in cities. A panel model is used to analyze the impact of digital inclusive finance on high-quality economic development. The conclusion is that the development level of digital inclusive finance is on the rise in all cities, but the regional development imbalance is also very obvious. Digital inclusive development has a positive promoting effect on the high-quality economic development of the Yangtze River Delta region. In addition, there is regional heterogeneity in the promoting effect of digital inclusive finance on high-quality economic development. With the improvement of urban level in the Yangtze River Delta region, the promoting effect of digital inclusive finance on high-quality economic development continues to improve. To this end, relevant policy recommendations are proposed. Firstly, to accelerate the development of digital finance and promote high-quality economic development. Secondly, to increase government investment and strengthen new infrastructure construction. Thirdly, to focus on information technology construction and enhance the level of digital technology. Fourthly, to deepen regional coordinated development and improve the quality of economic development.

How Does Internet Use Promote Returned Migrant Workers’ Entrepreneurship: Evidence from Rural China

Entrepreneurship is the driving force behind the creation of rural employment opportunities and the promotion of the sustainable development of the rural economy. Based on the data of five rounds of national surveys covering the period from 2010 to 2018 conducted by the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), this paper uses probit and other regression models to empirically study the impact of internet use on the entrepreneurship of returned migrant workers. The results show that the use of the internet can not only increase the probability of returned migrant workers starting a business but also increase the scale of entrepreneurial investment by 18% and the number of enterprises founded by 36%, which is particularly prominent among those rural areas with great potential for internet penetration. In rural areas with low levels of internet application, governments should continue to increase the level of support aimed at assisting returned migrant workers with founding their own businesses, to focus on enhancing the information literacy of returned migrant workers, and to accelerate the construction of information technology in rural areas with backward internet infrastructure to drive sustainable economic development through entrepreneurship.

The accelerating pace of building automation requires industry professionals to be increasingly skilled. Complex automation systems appear on the application software market, which entails an expansion of the possibilities of their application in the practice of construction production. The development of such programs and software systems is carried out chaotically, based on the empirical experience of domestic specialists, foreign colleagues, or already existing foreign solutions.
 In this regard, there is a need to develop such solutions that would be adapted to the domestic consumer in terms of legal documentation, as well as compliance with the chosen path for the development of information technologies in construction.
 Application software in the field of information modeling technologies already now allows solving a wide range of tasks due to domestic solutions. Nevertheless, a significant part of the processes still remains untouched.
 The main purpose of the study presented in this article is to analyze the existing business process for analyzing digital information models to form its map and modeling the process based on it using SOD, as well as the subsequent implementation of some of its subprocesses in the domestic EXON BIM software package.
 The implementation of the tasks set was investigated using the BPMN and BPM notation of the Draw.io software system.

The effects of green management practice on organizational performance success: An empirical study in HK building industry

Building development has been causing adverse environmental effects with emissions of greenhouse gas in the range of about 40% and consumed energy of about 35% in 2018 in developing countries. Expediting green management practices in an environmental, economic, and social manner becomes crucial in the building industry. Guiding from the systematic literature review, a whole building life cycle engagement of Green Marketing Strategy (GMS) and Green Technology Development (GTD) as green management practices to achieve organizational performance success in terms of Green Performance Success (GPS) & Finance Performance Success (FPS) lacks scholars’ studies. From a theoretical point of view, the pre- and post-building phases’ critical factors should be further explored and investigated. Few research studies can be identified for the conventional construction projects in selecting critical organizational performance success factors in their pre- and post-project stages. This research aims to provide an understanding into the effects of the green management practices on organizational performance success through a questionnaire survey follows by post-survey interviews, case studies, and green expert interviews so as to incentivize the promotion of the green management practices to combat global warming and greenhouse gas emissions. The results of a moderated hierarchical regression analysis revealed that green management practices in terms of green marketing strategy and green technologies development have a significant impact on firm performance in terms of green performance success and financial performance success. Further investigations of how the supplier cooperation and green building uncertainty moderate green management practices on organizational performance are studied. The experts’ interviews directed that the government take a leading role in asserting green management practices implementation, particularly in making green building development mandatory. Advanced construction information technology (e.g., building information modeling) should be used to inspire the building process to generate and manage building data to improve the green building technological design incorporation to recycle the building elements with waste reduction. Above all, the instituting of a robust and operational market platform for the green materials and products with a performance index would enhance the vision and mission of green marketing strategy to reduce the materials costs progressively. Commitment and cooperation of suppliers to deliver suitable green performance materials and products is also beneficial to the building industry. As the study indicated, the higher level of technological and logistical integration with the suppliers’ base will lead to higher levels of environmental collaboration and building firms’ performance.

A Study on The Wireless Remote Safety Measurement Device for Structures based on Multi-Waterproof Sensors

Recently, as the need for constant safety management increases due to collapse accidents caused by external displacement of buildings, it is necessary to manufacture a construction ground gradient meter and serial open information technology (IT) sensor that can be monitored wirelessly based on epoxy resins, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes, and communication cables. In particular, waterproof performance is required for ground monitoring of underground spaces with water, and for this purpose, research was also conducted to double mold the inside of the incline system. Construction IT convergence's building slope measurement device technology can respond to safety accidents by checking the amount of change in building displacement through a real-time online monitoring system. In addition, it is an industry with various application markets by converging IT technology into the existing construction industry and can be used as a pre-quake detection monitoring system for structural collapse accidents caused by external displacement. Therefore, it is intended to secure a sustainable facility safety management system through research in the field of real-time measurement technology on various facilities and surrounding ground behavior.

Research on The Interaction and Correction Strategy of Building Completion Information for Digital Twin

<p>BIM is the core of construction information technology in the current construction industry, and also the main information means in the whole construction cycle, however, BIM has many defects in practical application. The lack of building completion information in the BIM model and the current lag of building information are the main reasons for restricting the intellectualization and digitalization of the construction industry, Thus, the building construction stage is not smooth, and the later operation and maintenance are difficult. Therefore, by referring to the reverse engineering technology of manufacturing industry, this paper expands the building information into real-time and accurate building information by means of Digital twin technology, and reversely guides the construction, operation and maintenance of buildings. Finally, the effectiveness of the strategy discussed in this paper is proved by the actual case analysis.</p> <p> </p>

Investigation and Countermeasures Research of Hospital Information Construction of Tertiary Class-A Public Hospitals in China: Questionnaire Study

Medical informatization has initially demonstrated its advantages in improving the medical service industry. Over the past decade, the Chinese government have made a lot of effort to complete infrastructural information construction in the medical and health domain, and smart hospitals will be the next priority according to policies released by Chinese government in recent years. To provide strategic support for further development of medical information construction in China, this study aimed to investigate the current situation of medical information construction in tertiary class-A public hospitals and analyze the existing problems and countermeasures. This study surveyed 23 tertiary class-A public hospitals in China who voluntarily responded to a self-designed questionnaire distributed in April 2020 to investigate the current medical information construction status. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the current configurations of hospital information department, hospital information systems, hospital internet service and its application, and the satisfaction of hospital information construction. Interviews were also conducted with the respondents in this study for requirement analysis. The results show that hospital information construction has become one of the priorities of the hospitals' daily work, and the medical information infrastructural construction and internet service application of the hospitals are good; however, a remarkable gap among the different level of hospitals can be observed. Although most hospitals had built their own IT team to undertake information construction work, the actual utilization rate of big data collected and stored in the hospital information system was not satisfactory. Support for the construction of information technology in primary care institutions should be increased to balance the level of development of medical informatization in medical institutions at all levels. The training of complex talents with both IT and medical backgrounds should be emphasized, and specialized disease information standards should be developed to lay a solid data foundation for data utilization and improve the utilization of medical big data.
