IT Enabled Extended Organization in the Integrated Trade Licensing System

In order to improve the business climate, the Indonesian government focuses on carrying out a fundamental reform program. One part of the program is issuing online business licenses. As a form of compliance, the Ministry of Trade (MoT) needs to implement the Integrated Trade Licensing System (ITLS), where the system’s values will be made possible through a collaboration between government agencies. This condition illustrates a self-organizing network of organizations where each agency will be able to contribute its values and result in a new set of values. This concept is aligned with the extended organization. This paper aims to examine how ITLS can successfully work through government agencies’ collaboration in an extended organization. The research methodology used a qualitative approach by collecting data through documentation study, observation, and interviews. The study found that trade licenses can only be issued if the value given by the extended organization is sent to ITLS with the assistance of information technology (IT). This research is expected to be a lesson learned of extended organization concept in government agencies.

Utilization of selected Information Technology Enabled Systems (ITES) by agricultural extensionists of Kerala

Several information technology enabled systems (ITES) are available for providing valuable information to agricultural extensionists which in turn would help them to assist famers, and increase crop production. The present study was aimed at assessment of knowledge and extent of use of selected ITES among agricultural extensionists of Kerala. Data were collected from randomly selected 60 computer literate agricultural officers and 60 computer literate agricultural assistants of Kerala State. The study revealed that knowledge of agricultural extensionists on web browsing and agricultural portals was comparatively higher. The knowledge of agricultural expert system and digitized databases was found to be very low, with 79 percent and 81 percent respectively falling in the low category. On the other hand the extent of use of all the selected ITES was found low among the agricultural extensionists. This points figures towards the need of sensitizing agricultural extensionists on the importance and value of ITES.

Evaluation of a Health Information Technology-Enabled Panel Management Platform to Improve Anticoagulation Control in a Low-Income Patient Population: Protocol for a Quasi-Experimental Design.

BackgroundWarfarin is one of the most commonly prescribed medications in the United States, and it causes a significant proportion of adverse drug events. Patients taking warfarin fall outside of the recommended therapeutic range 30% of the time, largely because of inadequate laboratory monitoring and dose adjustment. This leads to an increased risk of blood clots or bleeding events. We propose a comparative effectiveness study to examine whether a technology-enabled anticoagulation management program can improve long-term clinical outcomes compared with usual care.ObjectiveOur proposed intervention is the implementation of an electronic dashboard (integrated into a preexisting electronic health record) and standardized workflow to track patients’ laboratory results, identify patients requiring follow-up, and facilitate the use of a validated nomogram for dose adjustment. The primary outcome of this study is the time in therapeutic range (TTR) at 6 months post intervention (a validated metric of anticoagulation quality among patients receiving warfarin).MethodsWe will employ a pre-post quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent usual-care comparison site and a difference-in-differences approach to compare the effectiveness of a technology-enabled anticoagulation management program compared with usual care at a large university-affiliated safety-net clinic.ResultsWe used a commercially available health information technology (HIT) platform to host a registry of patients on warfarin therapy and create the electronic dashboard for panel management. We developed the intervention with, and for, frontline clinician users, using principles of human-centered design. This study is funded until September 2020 and is approved by the University of California, San Francisco Institutional Review Board until June 22, 2020. We completed data collection in September 2019 and expect to complete our proposed analyses by February 2020.ConclusionsWe anticipate that the intervention will increase TTR among patients taking warfarin and that the use of this HIT platform will facilitate tracking and monitoring of patients on warfarin, which could enable outreach to those overdue for visits or laboratory monitoring. We will use these findings to iteratively improve the platform in preparation for a larger, multiple-site, pragmatic clinical trial. Over the last few decades, Indian Organizations had never bothered about the issues related to human behavior. But, presently, organizational behavior has become a separate field of study, and the Indian organizations have also started thinking about the pattern of Multi-National Corporations, which are successfully running their business in India. Stress is the way human beings react both physically and mentally to changes, events, and situations in their lives. This change has occurred in terms of science and technology, industrial growth, urbanization, modernization, and automation, on the one hand, and an expanding population, unemployment, and stress on the other. It has become important for the management to understand training effectiveness behavior-related problems of people who are working in the organizations for achieving the predetermined goals. However, the last two decades, with the inflow of many corporate sectors, namely Information Technology (IT), Information Technology Enabled Service Sector (ITES), Banking, Insurance, and Educational Institutions, are commonly labeled as stressful environments. During the last decade, fast growth has been observed by the information technology sectors. Particularly in developing countries, mostly in information technology and information technology - enabled service sectors due to higher competition, the organizational climate has deteriorated. Due to this overburden, the executives of the information technology sector and information technology enabled the service sector to have undergone more stress. This stress leads the executives to become unhealthy, and Stress at work can be a real problem for the organization as well as to the executives.

Customer Concerns and Future Prospects of E-Banking Services at Nationalized Banks in Tamil Nadu

Indian banking industry has beheld a notable business pattern by way of introducing Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) concept in banking services. Nationalized banks in Indian banking industry are progressively playing an important role in improving the computerized banking services. This research is an attempt to identify the customers' perception, concerns towards e- banking services. Further the study tries to identify the future prospects of e-banking services in South India. Data has been collected through structured questionnaire, from one hundred and fifty customers of six nationalized banks, situated in five districts of Tamil Nadu, South India. Results of the study shows that most of the customers were the users of e-banking services and identified benefits such as accessing banking services at any time & anywhere, saving of time, easy and customized method of accessing the services . Demographic variables such as educational, occupation and income level have significant impact on the customers’ preference while availing e-banking services. On the other hand, e-banking yet challenged with customer concerns like hacking of banking operations, lack of technical knowledge, network failure, and lack of customer complaint feedback mechanism.

“Monday Effect” on Performance Variations in Supply Chain Fulfillment: How Information Technology–Enabled Procurement May Help

If labor productivity varies in unknown ways over time, this could lead to unforeseen fluctuations in production or delivery rates, leading to stockouts or inventory build-up in a supply chain, while contributing to higher operating costs and to lower satisfaction levels for customers. The “Monday Effect,” that is lower productivity and higher error rates on Mondays compared with other days of the week, has been demonstrated in the finance and industrial relations literature. Using a database of 12 months of purchases from the General Services Administration (GSA) of the U.S. government (a key distributor of goods to government purchasers), we show that, indeed, performance is lower on Mondays compared with other weekdays in terms of order fulfillment and order cycle time. However, when purchasers use the GSA’s internet-based electronic market instead of using manual ordering procedures, the fulfillment gap between Mondays and other weekdays narrows considerably, demonstrating the value of information technology in smoothing distribution flows. By acknowledging the Monday Effect, distributors can thus plan for these weekly fluctuations and use information technology to improve service levels.

Impact of Perceived Organizational Support on Citizenship Behavior of ITES Employees

This study attempts to investigate the effect of Perceived Organizational Support (POS) of employees on their Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). It also examines if there are significant differences in the impact of POS on OCB of employees due to demographic factors (age, gender, tenure, designation) of employees. POS indicates the perception of employees regarding the extent to which their organization appreciates their contribution and cares for their well-being (Rhoades & Eisenberger, 2002). OCB refers to employee participation in tasks that are not formally a part of the job description, but are beneficial for the organization as a whole (Organ & Ryan, 1995). In the current business scenario, when employee turnover rate poses a serious threat to businesses, employers increasingly value employee loyalty and dedication. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to obtain the perceptions of 272 employees working in Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS) Sector, Bangalore, India. The results of the study indicate that POS had a significant impact on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of employees. Among the demographic factors, organizational tenure influenced the impact of POS on OCB. This paper has implications for employers and top management who struggle to retain their employees.

Improving Organizational Performance Through Competitive Advantage: An Empirical Analysis with Reference to Indian IT Industry

ABSTRACTImportant characteristics of resources and capabilities that can help an organization in gaining competitive advantage are discussed. Secondary data for Indian information technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS) firms were used for examining the link between core competencies (resources), competitive advantage, and organizational performance. The results indicate that ineffective utilization of resources can have a detrimental effect on competitive advantage. Findings reveal that organizational performance is a function of competitive advantage. Practical implications of the study are discussed. The contribution of this article is that it provides important insights into competitive advantage, which can be used by managers for improving organizational performance.

Employee Performance as Function of Performance Management System: An Empirical Study Information Technology Enabled Services Companies around Hyderabad

In this manuscript we report the results outcome of an empirical study carried out on, how the employee performance is a function of performance management system in Information Technology Enabled Service Companies around Hyderabad. A survey was carried on the employees of IT Enabled Services companies around Hyderabad using a sample of 924 employees, consisting of 545 men and 379 women employees. The influence on performance management system was measured against the a) Factors responsible for improved employee performance and b) Factors that impact on performance management system. Using a structured survey instrument a five-point Likert-type scale, 13 factors of dependent variable performance management system was measured against the two independent variables 9 factors responsible for improved performance and 5 factors that impact the performance management applying multiple regression analysis. The survey instrument reliability and internal consistency was measured using reliability statistic Cronbach Alpha which is 0.84, 0.76 and 0.73 respectively, for performance management system, factors responsible for improvement performance management and factors that impact performance management system. The results reveal that both the independent variables significantly influencing the performance management system and there were statistically significant gender differences observed in the sample. However, there were no significant differences in different age groups of the employees.

Evaluation of a Health Information Technology-Enabled Collective Intelligence Platform to Improve Diagnosis in Primary Care and Urgent Care Settings: Protocol for a Pragmatic Randomized Controlled Trial.

BackgroundDiagnostic error in ambulatory care, a frequent cause of preventable harm, may be mitigated using the collective intelligence of multiple clinicians. The National Academy of Medicine has identified enhanced clinician collaboration and digital tools as a means to improve the diagnostic process.ObjectiveThis study aims to assess the efficacy of a collective intelligence output to improve diagnostic confidence and accuracy in ambulatory care cases (from primary care and urgent care clinic visits) with diagnostic uncertainty.MethodsThis is a pragmatic randomized controlled trial of using collective intelligence in cases with diagnostic uncertainty from clinicians at primary care and urgent care clinics in 2 health care systems in San Francisco. Real-life cases, identified for having an element of diagnostic uncertainty, will be entered into a collective intelligence digital platform to acquire collective intelligence from at least 5 clinician contributors on the platform. Cases will be randomized to an intervention group (where clinicians will view the collective intelligence output) or control (where clinicians will not view the collective intelligence output). Clinicians will complete a postvisit questionnaire that assesses their diagnostic confidence for each case; in the intervention cases, clinicians will complete the questionnaire after reviewing the collective intelligence output for the case. Using logistic regression accounting for clinician clustering, we will compare the primary outcome of diagnostic confidence and the secondary outcome of time with diagnosis (the time it takes for a clinician to reach a diagnosis), for intervention versus control cases. We will also assess the usability and satisfaction with the digital tool using measures adapted from the Technology Acceptance Model and Net Promoter Score.ResultsWe have recruited 32 out of our recruitment goal of 33 participants. This study is funded until May 2020 and is approved by the University of California San Francisco Institutional Review Board until January 2020. We have completed data collection as of June 2019 and will complete our proposed analysis by December 2019.ConclusionsThis study will determine if the use of a digital platform for collective intelligence is acceptable, useful, and efficacious in improving diagnostic confidence and accuracy in outpatient cases with diagnostic uncertainty. If shown to be valuable in improving clinicians’ diagnostic process, this type of digital tool may be one of the first innovations used for reducing diagnostic errors in outpatient care. Impact of an Information Technology-Enabled Quality Improvement Initiative on Timeliness of Patient Contact and Scheduling of Screening Mammography Recall.

OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of an information technology-enabled quality improvement initiative on timeliness of patient contact and scheduling of screening mammography recall. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The study was conducted in a screening practice (two ambulatory centers, A and B; two hospitals, C and D) that uses offline batch results (A, B, C) and same-day results (D) with on-site (A, C, D) or off-site (B) coordinators scheduling recalls. Before the intervention, radiologists at sites A, B, and C conveyed recalls via paper lists to coordinators after batch interpretation. At site D, coordinators received recall lists several times a day. In March 2017 an electronic alert system was implemented to notify coordinators of recall at report signing with required closed-loop acknowledgment once recall was scheduled. Mean time (hours, excluding weekends) to schedule diagnostic evaluation was compared for 4-month periods before and after intervention by two-tailed t test and statistical process control analyses. RESULTS. Recall rates were 9.5% (1356/14,315) before and 8.9% (1432/16,034) after the intervention (p = 0.10). Mean time to schedule screening decreased after the intervention as follows: site A from 86 to 65 hours (-24.4%, p = 0.01); site B, 116 to 70 hours (-39.7%, p < 0.0001); site C, 98 to 65 hours (-33.7%, p = 0.002); and site D, 49 to 42 hours (-14.3%, p = 0.21). Statistical process control analysis showed significant sustained improvements at sites A, B, and C in mean time to patient contact and scheduling of diagnostic evaluation. CONCLUSION. An information technology-enabled quality improvement initiative to notify coordinators of screening recalls in real time with required patient contact and scheduling acknowledgment reduced time to diagnostic scheduling in a multisite practice. The greatest impact was found at the site with off-site coordinators, the least at the site performing same-day interpretation.

Multipolar governance and social upgrading in the international services value chains: The case of support-service workers in Mumbai

A prominent theme in research on global value chains/global production networks is whether economic upgrading in global production networks has been accompanied by social upgrading for the workers involved. This paper aims to contribute to this debate by examining social upgrading among the support-service workers indirectly working for premier international ICT-ITES (Information and Communication Technology-Information Technology Enabled Services) firms in Mumbai (India). By using various Decent-Work indicators, this paper empirically assesses the work and employment conditions of the support-service workers engaged in housekeeping and cab-service segments catering to ICT-ITES firms. Building on the concept of multipolar governance, this paper highlights how at the intersection of two value chains a governance vacuum emerges which limits social upgrading for support-service workers.

Training Needs of Farmers and Agricultural Extensionists on Selected Information Technology Enabled Systems for Agriculture

The study analyses the training needs of farmers and agricultural extensionists of Kerala,India on selected Information Technology Enabled Systems (ITES) such as web browsing, agricultural portals, agricultural expert systems, digitized databases and on line trading in agriculture. Computer literate farmers and agricultural extensionists from the districts of Thrissur, Idukki and Malappuram of Kerala consisting of 300 farmers and 120 agricultural extensionists were the respondents of the study. Training on agricultural portals was identified as the highest training need among both farmers and agricultural extensionists. The study points to the need of imparting IT oriented training to both farmers and agricultural extensionists which would enable them to get right information at the right time for the overall development of agriculture.

Impact of a Multifaceted Information Technology-Enabled Intervention on the Adoption of ACR White Paper Follow-Up Recommendations for Incidental Adnexal Lesions Detected on CT.

OBJECTIVE. The objective of our study was to improve adherence to American College of Radiology (ACR) white paper follow-up imaging recommendations for incidental adnexal lesions seen on pelvic CT (herein referred to as "adherence rate to recommendations"). MATERIALS AND METHODS. This quality improvement project was conducted at a large academic teaching hospital. The baseline adherence rate to recommendations was assessed by screening all pelvic CT reports for the period from October 22, 2016, through December 22, 2016, for incidental adnexal findings, followed by manual review. Forty abdominal and cancer imaging radiologists were surveyed to understand the barriers to adoption of the recommendations. Interventions to address the most common identified barriers were implemented on December 23, 2016. The postintervention adherence rate was assessed from December 23, 2016, through February 15, 2017, by again screening CT pelvis reports for incidental adnexal lesions followed by manual review. The change in pre- and postintervention adherence rates was assessed using the Fisher exact test and statistical process control (SPC) p-chart with 3-sigma control limits. RESULTS. The adherence rate to recommendations at baseline was 67% (121/181). Of the 28 of 40 (70%) radiologists who completed the survey, only 29% (8/28) often or consistently used the recommendations. Not remembering the details of the recommendations or not having time to look them up accounted for 83.3% of the barriers cited by radiologists. Interventions consisted of radiologist education and creation of an easily accessible clinical decision support tool incorporated into radiology reporting workflow. The adherence rate to recommendations after the intervention increased to 87% (129/148; p < 0.0001), as also shown by the SPC chart. CONCLUSION. The rate of adherence to follow-up imaging recommendations significantly increased after radiologist education and incorporation of recommendations into the radiologist workflow.

This paper looks at the drivers of, the requirements for, and the essential functionality of the cognitive data management strategy and how these principles may apply to media and entertainment (M&E) workflows. In addition, this paper will show how such a metadata-centric approach can help companies overcome data silos and enable information technology (IT) planners to take advantage of any storage technology without impacting users, or adding IT management complexity.
