The Effect of Using Interactive E-activities on Motivation towards Learning and Academic Achievement of Tenth-Grade Female Students in the Information Technology and Computer course

هدفَ هذا البحث إلى التعرف على أثر استخدام الأنشطة الإلكترونية التفاعلية في تدريس مقرر الحاسب وتقنية المعلومات على: الدافعية نحو التعلم، وتنمية التحصيل الدراسي، لدى طالبات الصف الأول الثانوي. واستخدمت الباحثة المنهج شبه التجريبي، وتكونت أدوات البحث من اختبار تحصيلي ومقياس الدافعية نحو التعلم، وقد اشتمل مجتمع البحث على جميع طالبات الصف الأول الثانوي في المدارس الثانوية التابعة لمكتب تعليم الحرس الوطني بالرياض في الفصل الأول من العام الدراسي 1440/1441 هـ وعددهن (570) طالبة، تم اختيار عينة مكونة من (60) طالبة من طالبات ثانوية فاطمة بنت محمد بالحرس الوطني، بطريقة قصدية مثّل أحدهما المجموعة التجريبية (30) طالبة، ومثّل الآخر المجموعة الضابطة (30) طالبة، من فصول الصف الأول الثانوي التي تدرس مقرر (الحاسب وتقنية المعلومات). وقد أظهرت نتائج البحث حصول طالبات المجموعة التجريبية اللاتي دُرِّسنَ باستخدام الأنشطة الإلكترونية التفاعلية على درجات أعلى من طالبات المجموعة الضابطة اللاتي دُرِّسنَ بالطريقة المعتادة، في مجمل الاختبار التحصيلي، كما حصلت طالبات التجريبية على درجات أعلى من طالبات المجموعة الضابطة اللاتي دُرِّسنَ بالطريقة المعتادة في بعض أبعاد الاختبار التحصيلي: التذكر، التحليل، التطبيق، بالإضافة إلى وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في مقياس الدافعية لصالح المجموعة التجريبية. وبناءً على هذه النتائج أوصت الباحثة بتشجيع الطالبات على استخدام الأنشطة الإلكترونية التفاعلية لتنفيذ المهام التعليمية؛ والاستفادة من أدوات الرسم الإلكتروني التي توفرها برامج الأنشطة الإلكترونية التفاعلية.

Empowering Problem-solving in Computer Science: A Need Analysis for a Computational Thinking Mobile Learning Application

The advancement of digital technology has revolutionized education across all levels, giving rise to digital learning as a novel pedagogical environment. Among the subjects at the forefront of this transformation is computer science, introduced in matriculation colleges to supplant traditional information technology courses. However, computer science poses inherent complexity, demanding abstract thinking and diverse problem-solving methodologies. Computational thinking (CT) emerges as a promising approach to address these challenges, recognized as a vital skillset for fostering innovation in digital technology among students. The ubiquity of smartphones and mobile internet facilitates the adoption of mobile learning, offering students the flexibility to access educational content anytime, anywhere. Consequently, this need analysis study aims to assess current teaching practices in computer science and identify the need for mobile learning applications that integrate CT as a problem-solving technique among matriculation college students. Interviews with three computer science lecturers revealed a reliance on conventional pedagogy with limited blended learning approaches through college portals. Notably, specific techniques for imparting programming problem-solving skills were lacking. Nonetheless, it is noteworthy that all instructors recognized the considerable potential of mobile learning applications in effectively engaging students and facilitating the development of problem-solving proficiency.

Analysis of Student Behavior Based on the History of Learning Activities in the Learning Management System Using the Pearson Correlation Method

The purpose of this study is to identify student learning behavior in online learning and to determine the relationship between student learning behavior and learning achievement based on learning history data (Learning logs) on the Learning Management System (LMS), including the performance of assignments and quizzes, utilization interaction features (forums and chat), as well as active access to learning resources (files and URLs). Pearson Correlation method is used to analyze the level of relationship between learning behavior and students’ achievement. The research object is 105 students at Muhammadiyah University of Enrekang who programmed introductory information technology (PTI) courses from 5 different classes but taught by the same lecturer. The total number of processed activity histories (after data preprocessing) is 6500 records, while the total number of logs before data preprocessing is 19386 records. Correlation analysis linking student behavior to student learning achievement is quite strong and unidirectional, as evidenced by the correlation value between learning behavior and student final grades which show an average number of 0.80 and all are positive, with confidence interval values reaching95%. This shows that the higher the learning activities that students participate in in online learning (the more active), the stronger the effect on student learning achievement. It also shows that student activity in completing assignments is the variable that most influences learning achievement with a correlation value of 0.88 (very strong).

Teaching Design Process for Modules Belonging to the Specialized Knowledge Block of Information Technology for University Students According to the Competency Approach

The article begins by summarizing the content of “Teaching through a Competency-based Approach”, analyzing the curriculum of specialized courses in Information Technology, emphasizing the crucial role of this field in various aspects of life and national development. The focus of the article is on the training objectives in the field of Information Technology, particularly the aim to educate bachelor’s degree holders with sufficient knowledge, skills, and political qualities to meet industry requirements. The article lists key Information Technology courses such as databases, computer networks, system analysis and design, programming, information security, artificial intelligence, and software development. Subsequently, the article describes important factors in the teaching process, including teaching tools and methods. This encompasses the necessity of using tools such as simulation software, instructional videos, and diverse teaching methods such as problem-based learning, project-based learning, and case study-based teaching. Finally, the article presents a detailed design process following the competency-based approach, from establishing training outcome standards, aligning objectives with standards, to identifying conditions and criteria for competency implementation in real-world professional settings. The article proposes a specific teaching plan for each specialized course, ensuring the integration of knowledge, skills, and attitudes, as well as the integrity of the teaching process. The article serves as a comprehensive guide on how to design teaching in the field of Information Technology using a competency-based approach. It highlights challenges and opportunities for improving the quality of education in this field in Vietnam.

Impact of web-based learning platforms on primary school students’ academic performance in the UAE: Exploring the digital frontier

The three-month quasi-experimental study examined the impact of Purple Mash, an educational website, on grade four students’ academic achievement and perception. The study involved 28 participants, divided into control and experimental groups. Initial assessment scores were similar between the groups, but after the intervention, the experimental group showed a significant increase in post-test scores compared to the control group. The experimental group achieved an average score of 89.9, while the control group scored 77.2. Additionally, the students reported high levels of satisfaction with the interactive learning experiences provided by Purple Mash. Based on these findings, the study recommends the development of dedicated websites for each lesson to enhance accessibility and improve academic achievement and student perception in information and communication technology (ICT) courses. The integration of various data sources, such as pre- and post-test scores, classroom observations, and interviews, supported the credibility and dependability of the research findings. This thorough approach allowed for a deeper understanding of ICT class dynamics and the establishment of robust conclusions. The findings of this study provide compelling evidence of the positive impact of Purple Mash, a web-based mathematics learning platform, on primary school students’ mathematics achievement.

A Trustworthy Automated Short-Answer Scoring System Using a New Dataset and Hybrid Transfer Learning Method

To measure the quality of student learning, teachers must conduct evaluations. One of the most efficient modes of evaluation is the short answer question. However, there can be inconsistencies in teacher-performed manual evaluations due to an excessive number of students, time demands, fatigue, etc. Consequently, teachers require a trustworthy system capable of autonomously and accurately evaluating student answers. Using hybrid transfer learning and student answer dataset, we aim to create a reliable automated short answer scoring system called Hybrid Transfer Learning for Automated Short Answer Scoring (HTL-ASAS). HTL-ASAS combines multiple tokenizers from a pretrained model with the bidirectional encoder representations from transformers. Based on our evaluation of the training model, we determined that HTL-ASAS has a higher evaluation accuracy than models used in previous studies. The accuracy of HTL-ASAS for datasets containing responses to questions pertaining to introductory information technology courses reaches 99.6%. With an accuracy close to one hundred percent, the developed model can undoubtedly serve as the foundation for a trustworthy ASAS system.

BUILDING AN INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PATH FOR STUDENTS USING LMS MOODLE

In the modern environment of a higher education institution, an individual approach to learning is becoming increasingly important to maximize the efficiency of the educational process, improve the quality of education, and meet the needs of each student. The article investigates the capabilities of the Moodle learning management system for the implementation of individual student learning trajectories, which will consider both the level of initial and intermediate knowledge and the student's learning style: auditory, visual, digital, and kinesthetic. The functionalities of the LMS Moodle learning management system for personalizing training courses, and creating various types of educational content and assessment tools that will contribute to the effective learning of each student, taking into account their individual needs and capabilities by building an individual student trajectory are considered. The article demonstrates an example of successful implementation of an individual learning path using Moodle resources in a higher education institution, presents the procedure for forming an individual educational path of students based on the resources of the Moodle LMS, and discusses the advantages of this approach for the training and development of modern students. To determine the level of satisfaction of students, an online survey was conducted among 34 students majoring in 126 "Information Systems and Technologies" at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NULES) who studied according to the implemented individual trajectory using the LMS Moodle within the Information Technology course. As a result, a conclusion was made about the positive impact of personalization of learning by selecting different types of resources considering the learning style (according to the VARK model) of the student and learning on an individual trajectory on their level of satisfaction.

Exploration and Practice of the Integration and Development of Educational Technology and Teaching in Colleges and Universities in the Context of Educational Informatization

Abstract In the context of education informatization, this paper discusses how to deeply integrate advanced educational technology with traditional teaching. By constructing a blended teaching model with the goal of deep learning and using linear regression, decision tree and other algorithms to build a data analysis framework, this paper aims to assess the practical application effect of educational technology in universities. The empirical study explores the development of deep blending between educational technology and teaching by taking the Information Technology Course of University J as an example. The results showed that after the teaching, the posttest mean of profound learning ability of students in the mixed, online, and offline groups were 1.948, 0.182 and 0.065 higher than the pretest mean, respectively. z-values ranked in the top three were the perseverance of students in the mixed group (-12.642) and the ability to think creatively (-11.682) and critically (-9.875), which were higher than those of students in the online group and the offline group, the overall profound learning ability of students in the mixed group was effectively improved, which verified the effectiveness of the blended teaching model proposed in this paper.

Study of images in French as a foreign language class: Between fixed image and moving image

We were interested in the image. The latter, visual and figurative representation, has always been part of the means used in the teaching-learning of languages, we note that this support is always present in the language class, because in addition to its aspect of humor, the image is capable of explaining the linguistic code, by referring to another code. Thus, the image as a teaching aid could also have a considerable impact on the comprehension of writing among learners in the 7th and 8th years of basic education. This article is particularly interested in the teachers responsible for the information and communication technology course and the designers of programs and manuals. The main objective of the article is to give attention to this support likely to facilitate the teaching/learning of the French language. It first presents two types of images: a still image medium, namely a comic strip and an animated image medium, namely a video extract and scriptural and intercultural skills and Then, he focuses on to descriptive data taken from questionnaires intended for students concerning these aforementioned skills. The article also examines the relationships between the use of images in the teaching-learning process and the two skills.

STEAM based music activity example for gifted students

In this study, the aim is to present a STEAM-based music activity for gifted students and to determine the students' awareness of the process at the end of the activity. The study group of the research consists of exceptionally gifted students who applied to STEAM Based Music Activities Workshop in the Halil İnalcık Science and Art Center. Accordingly, we determined the study group of the research as 25 5th grade students studying at Bursa Halil İnalcık Science and Art Centre in the 2023–2024 academic year. At the same time, these students also take information technologies course. We carried out the activity of “I design my instrument with Scratch program and Makey Makey” for a total of 8 hours in 4 weeks, i.e., two hours each week. The activity was prepared in line with the 5E learning model. At the end of the research, we applied the Formative Evaluation Form to the students and obtained data about their awareness of the process. We used the content analysis method to analyze the date. In the research, we determined that the students enjoyed the activity, their interest in music increased, music can be used effectively in different fields, coding studies with music are more fun, and they developed self-confidence by liking their work. In line with the data obtained in the research, the conclusion was that the realisation of music lessons with different fields by using today's technologies has positive effects on students.

Use of Instructional Videos to Augment the Teaching of ICT Practical Sessions in the midst of Higher Students Enrollment

The current study looked at how instructional videos were created and used to augment the practical teaching and learning of information and communication technology (ICT) course. With a sample size of 1620 students, the researcher created customized short instructional videos on the different topics on the course outline and shared videos on the platform of the students in the Fall of 2021/2022 school year. The researcher found evidence that the use of the instructional videos was helpful in the practical lessons. Second, participants indicated that using the instructional videos was their first time in this university. Finally, the participants expressed their desire to use the instructional videos in the near future as well as recommend to their peers in other programmes. Implications for practice are discussed.

Design methodology on educational web applications for the field of mathematics

This study proposes the creation and use of the Design methodology on Educational Web Applications for the Field of Mathematics (DAECM) to build the web application on depreciation. The objective of this mixed research is to analyze the perceptions of the students about the use of this technological tool. The participants are 25 students who took the Information and Communication Technologies course at the National Autonomous University of Mexico during the 2023-2 school year. The DAECM methodology facilitated the construction of the educational web application on depreciation through the stages Analysis of the mathematical educational context, Analysis of web programming languages, Content design, Aesthetics and Evaluation. The results of this mixed research indicate that the educational web application is useful, facilitates the personalization of learning through simulators, favors the creation of a pleasant virtual environment, allows the education during the COVID-19 post-pandemic and encourages the learning of the math. This study recommends the incorporation of technological tools such as web applications because teachers can create new virtual spaces that help the students during the learning process. In conclusion, educators can use the DAECM methodology to update educational practices and innovate the course activities through the planning and construction of web applications.

Interprofessional Education in Health Informatics (IPEHI) for Health Sciences Programs.

Given the significant changes the healthcare system has undergone recently; information technology has become an indispensable tool. To properly train future healthcare providers, it is vital to introduce information technology courses in Health Sciences programs. The provision of healthcare services now requires teamwork, which has led to the need for interprofessional education in health sciences schools. Therefore, this study explores the necessity of introducing Interprofessional Education in Health Informatics (IPEHI) in health sciences programs. Additionally, the structure and content of the course were assessed. A mixed-method approach was employed in this study to explore the need for health informatics interprofessional education among individuals with a health-related science background and who possessed health informatics expertise through work experience or formal post-graduation education. Following a cross-sectional survey-based study, expert subjects from academia and the workplace were convened for Delphi meetings to create an IPEHI course founded on the CAHIIM competency framework. 128 questionnaires were collected from three cities in Saudi Arabia. Of all the respondents, 80% agreed that the present health sciences education should be expanded. Additionally, 74% of them agreed that the proposed IPE-HI (Interprofessional Education in Health Informatics) would enhance their knowledge and positively impact the healthcare system. During the second phase, eight experts were invited to identify seven domains, which include health information science and technology, social, behavioral and information science and technology applied to health, information science and technology, leadership, social and behavioral aspects of health, professionalism, and interprofessional collaborative practice. The results emphasize the need for introducing an IPE-HI, as previous studies have also shown that educating health professionals in health information technology is crucial. IPEHI plays a crucial role in producing competent health science graduates. Consequently, experts have developed and validated a proposed IPE-HI course.

Matematik Öğretmen Adaylarının Dijital Teknolojiye Yönelik Tutumlarının Bazı Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

The role of technology continually increasing and its use is becoming no longer an option but inevitable in all fields of education. From teachers to students, technology literacy and the knowledge and skills to use it are now expected. Along with studies on the adequacy, skills, and approaches of students and educators from all levels regarding the use of technology, the attitudes of all these groups towards technology also fall under the scope of educational researchers. This study investigates whether the attitudes of pre-service mathematics teachers towards digital technology differ according to gender, university type, department, grade level and final grades in information technology courses, using statistical methods. The data set consists of the survey results of 440 mathematics pre-service teachers from two universities. According to the statistical results of the research, significant differences have been found in the attitudes of mathematics pre-service teachers towards digital technology in the sub-dimensions of technology use, conscious use of technology, and game-oriented use of technology, by gender; in the sub-dimensions of interest and willingness, technology use, and social media, by university type; and in the sub-dimensions of technology use and negative factors, based on the final grades of the information technology course. According to the data mining algorithms of the research, the branches generated by the Random Tree algorithm yielded the best results. According to the Random Tree algorithm, it was concluded that gender is the most dominant factor affecting the attitudes of mathematics pre-service teachers towards digital technology.

Raising Learner Satisfaction in Online Computer Programming and Information Technology Courses: One Instructor’s Five Successful Strategies

Online learning has continued to rise in popularity among learners, educators, and university administrators over the last three decades. However, one of the biggest challenges for educators is adapting to best practices, pedagogies, tools, and technologies when delivering instruction in this environment. Remembering that learners have a choice when enrolling in a university degree program, it is critical that educators focus on learner satisfaction. Many universities are concentrated on retention and recruitment and having a high learner satisfaction rate can improve these two areas. When an educator finds a strategy that helps improve learner satisfaction, it is critical that they share this knowledge with other professionals. This case study highlights five strategies that worked within computer programming and information technology courses to help improve learner satisfaction. These strategies consisted of providing individualized video feedback, using simulation products, integrating real-world projects, offering conversations with industry experts, and providing prompt learner engagement.

Predicting academic performance of learners with the three domains of learning data using neuro-fuzzy model and machine learning algorithms

In recent days, learners faced difficulties learning programming courses. This research study will help the learners learn complex concepts quickly with different activities like flipped classrooms, online quizzes, learning by doing, and a virtual laboratory. This research is carried out to address the difficulties of learners and cover all the domains of learning, including knowledge, Skill, and Attitude. The fuzzy logic method has recently been applied in education to overcome these restrictions. While employing the fuzzy logic approach to evaluate student achievement, qualifications are assessed qualitatively rather than quantitatively. This research study applies Fuzzy Logic in the first stage, Factor Analysis (FA), and Machine Learning (ML) techniques in the second stage to discover essential factors associated with the effective use of Active Learning Strategies (ALS) in the Learning Management System (LMS) of information technology course learners. Fuzzy logic and neural network topology can be coupled using ANFIS, an adaptable network. FA is performed to find the critical factors for successful learners. The study compares the performance of five supervised machine learning algorithms: K-Nearest Neighbor, Decision Tree, Naive Bayes, Discriminant Analysis, and Support Vector Machine. These classifiers are evaluated to determine their suitability and model fit in the context of the research. In this study, real-time data is collected from B.Tech Information Technology learners. The following prediction models achieved high accuracy before FA analysis: Naive Bayes (90 %), Support Vector Machine (89 %), Discriminant Analysis (88 %), Decision Tree (86 %), and K-Nearest Neighbors (82 %). Naive Bayes gives the best accuracy, with 90 %. Following factor analysis (FA), the accuracy achieved by various classifiers is as follows: Naive Bayes - 92 %, K-Nearest Neighbors - 92 %, Support Vector Machine - 90 %, Discriminant Analysis - 89 %, and Decision Tree - 88 %. Among these, Naive Bayes and K-Nearest Neighbors exhibit the highest accuracy of 92 %.

Effect of Interactive Online Learning Material Developed on Digital Rights and Responsibilities on Students' Self-efficacies

This research aims to examine the impact of interactive online learning material on students' self-efficacy, prepared for achievements related to "digital rights and responsibility" in the Social Studies and Information Technologies and Software course. The study design is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest paired control group. The study group consisted of 40 students studying in the 7th grade in a secondary school affiliated with the Ministry of National Education (MEB) located in Ankara province. The working group was divided into experimental and control groups. Within the framework of the research purpose, the interactive online learning material was made available to the experimental group through Learning Management Systems (LMS). On the other hand, control group studentsto-face training. As a data collection tool, five-point Likert-type “Digital Rights and Responsibility Scale” was used. In data analysis, Shapiro-Wilk analysis, Levene homogeneity test, independent sample T-test, and Paired sample T-test were used. According to the results of the study, the interactive online learning material planned and designed according to learner characteristics significantly increased students' self-efficacy levels.

Work Readiness of Accounting Vocational Education Students in Facing the Era of the Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0

Technological developments in Industrial Revolution Era 4.0 and Society 5.0 have brought significant changes in various sectors, including accounting. As a result, only professional accountants who have competence and skills can adapt to technological developments. This research is focused on assessing the work readiness of accounting vocational education students in preparing themselves for this era. The purpose of this research is to identify the level of work readiness of students at the Bali State Polytechnic Accounting Department and strategies to increase their work readiness. The variables measured are aspects of work readiness in professional skills according to International Education Standards 3 (IES 3). Research data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire (1-5) and interviews. The number of samples taken were 144 students from 3 Study Programs. The results showed that Bali State Polytechnic accounting students were ready to face the Revolutionary Era of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 with an average score of 4.01. Where the highest work readiness is in the Organizational aspect with a score of 4.06, in the D4 Managerial Accounting study program with a score of 4.16, and Women with a score of 4.02. On the other hand, it was stated that his unpreparedness was mostly determined by the Self View factor, namely views on work and confidence in completing it with a percentage of 35.56%. To further improve the work readiness of accounting students, various strategies are suggested, such as: integrating information technology courses into the curriculum, expanding internships, providing training in public speaking, increasing collaboration between academics and industry professionals, and organizing international webinars. By implementing this strategy, the Bali State Polytechnic can ensure that its students are well prepared to face the Revolutionary Era of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0.
