Determinants of Accounting Information Systems Success: The Case of the Greek Hotel Industry

Accounting information systems (AIS) are primarily designed to convert financial data into usable financial and management information. Their effectiveness or success, which shows the extent to which the requirements of their users are satisfied, is an essential factor in decision making. Previous research has found that user satisfaction is a particularly widely utilized and indicative measure of information system (IS) success. In this setting, the success or failure of an AIS is a crucial issue for all companies since a particular IS cannot be appropriate for everyone, especially in the case of accounting software that has to satisfy the requirements of its users. Furthermore, given the hotel industry’s information-intensive and competitive character, the AIS user satisfaction of hotel financial and accounting executives can be vital to their performance and the hotel’s operational efficiency. The aim of this research is to investigate a number of factors that influence AIS user satisfaction in the post-implementation period in the case of the Greek hotel industry. The findings of our empirical study show that system quality, information quality, system use, service quality, firm’s size, years of system use, information technology integration, and organic structure have a positive effect on user satisfaction with AIS. On the contrary, statistical analysis shows that users’ level of education is negatively correlated with AIS user satisfaction. Finally, the current research findings contribute theoretically to the IS and accounting literature, and they also shine a light on the managerial implications for IS developers, hotel managers, and financial executives.

Evaluating LDA and LSA for Topic Modeling in the Indonesian Natural Disaster

Topic Modeling is a method for analyzing topics, documents, and articles in Natural Language Processing. The LDA (Latent Dirichlet Allocation) and LSA (Latent Semantic Analysis) algorithms are widely used in topic modelling. This study focuses on analyzing articles related to natural disasters in the Indonesian language. The dataset for this study was obtained through data scraping from Google News, which served as a container for several articles and online news sources. The research method is divided into several stages: dataset scraping, data preprocessing, topic modelling with LDA and LSA, model visualization, and model evaluation. The results of the research show that both algorithms can generate topics on datasets relevant to natural disasters in Indonesia such as floods, earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis and so on. From the evaluation results using Coherence Scores, it is found that LDA has better performance than LSA seen from Coherence Scores in modeling topics related to Natural Disasters in Indonesia. The results of this research are expected to provide convenience for information system developers in terms of monitoring natural disasters in Indonesia and make it easier for researchers who want to effectively read a document based on the disaster related in the document.

Identification and classification of indicators for evaluating health information systems

BackgroundSeveral evaluation methods are used to determine the advantages and disadvantages of healthcare information systems and their contribution to attaining organizational goals. Despite the existence of many evaluation frameworks, there is no comprehensive set of indicators that evaluate different dimensions of information systems. This study aimed to develop a set of indicators for evaluating health information systems. MethodsThis research was conducted in three phases. First, based on a literature review of PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Embase databases, studies using the health information system evaluation methods were extracted. Second, consecutive focus group meetings were held with scientific and executive experts to discuss the list of evaluation indicators extracted from the studies. In these meetings, the experts agreed on including, removing, adding, combining, and grouping the indicators. Third, the indicators were weighted using the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method, and the set of evaluation indicators was finalized. ResultsThe review of 177 relevant articles resulted in the extraction of 360 indicators. During the focus group meetings, 174 overlapping and duplicate indicators were eliminated and 61 indicators were added to the model based on experts’ suggestions. The remaining 247 indicators were classified into a four-level hierarchy. The final set consisted of 4 dimensions, 16 criteria, 47 markers, and 180 indicators. ConclusionWe developed a comprehensive general set of indicators that helps researchers, designers, and developers of health information systems to evaluate different dimensions of these systems. This set can also be used to improve the design of relevant systems.

FACTORS AFFECTING ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEM PERFORMANCE IN CV. HARI BAIK

An accounting information system is effective if the information needed by system users is met and efficient if the system is able to produce information without spending a lot of time in the work process. The goal of this study was to examine the variables that affect the functionality of the accounting information system, including user participation in information system development, individual technical proficiency, support from top management, training and education initiatives, user communication with information system developers, and the location of the information systems department. The test results demonstrate that user involvement in information system development, individual technical proficiency, and top management support have positive effects on the performance of the accounting information system, whereas training and education programs, user communication, information system developers, and the location of the information systems department have no impact on the performance of the accounting information system.

PENGEMBANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI MONITORING PRAKERIN BERBASIS ANDROID DI SMKN 2 BARRU

This study aims: (1) to produce an Android-based internship monitoring information system, and (2) to determine the performance of an Android-based internship monitoring information system. This study used the Research and Development research method which was carried out at SMKN 2 Barru. The research data was obtained by giving a questionnaire to 30 respondents divided into 20 productive teachers and 10 industrial partners. The data analysis technique used is percentage descriptive analysis. The results of the analysis found an Android-based internship monitoring information system. The test results using the Black Box method on the system show that the system has good functionality, all functions can work properly and have met the requirement specifications. The test results show that the information system has been acceptable to users and can be used as a medium to find information about internship activities. For future Android-based apprentice monitoring information system developers, it is expected that all SMK in Barru Regency can use it. Recommendations for researchers who are interested in studying and studying more broadly should use different development and application methods.

Cybersecurity Considerations in the Development of Enterprise Information Systems

Amidst an era characterized by dependence on digital systems, this study delves into the crucial interplay of integrating cybersecurity into contemporary enterprise information system development. Drawing insights from a diverse array of 60 participants, including cybersecurity specialists, information system developers, and decision-makers within organizations, the research reveals unanimous consensus (85%) on the "extremely high importance" attributed to cybersecurity integration. This collective acknowledgement underscores a heightened recognition of the evolving landscape of cyber threats. The identified challenges, encompassing the delicate balance between security and usability, along with the scarcity of proficient experts, mirror the intricate dynamics faced by organizations. The advocated strategies, aligned with established practices, underscore the prominence of risk-based methodologies and adaptive security measures. The influence of regulatory adherence and human factors brings to light nuanced aspects of the subject. Ultimately, the study underscores the compelling need to embed cybersecurity seamlessly into information system development, culminating in resilient, secure, and forward-oriented systems within an interconnected digital milieu

The Role of Decisions in Intervening Website Quality, e-Promotion, and e-Trust towards e-Repurchase Intention on e-Commerce

Objectives: This study aims to analyze decisions as a mediating factor of website quality, e-promotion, and e-trust on the e-repurchase intention at Shopee online shop. An important occurrence to be studied during the pandemic is the phenomenon of online shopping behavior. Methodology: The analysis method used in this study is a quantitative approach with the PLS-SEM data analysis method because it is predictive and able to produce a model with a good test level. The population of this research are consumers in Jakarta through the selection of purposive sampling. The sample obtained according to the criteria is 262 respondents who are accepted and eligible for testing.Finding: Online shopping decisions affect repurchase intentions while website quality does not but decision acts as a mediator. Promotion does not affect the decision and repurchase intention and decisions do not act as a mediator. Trust affects decisions and repurchase intentions, and decisions can act as mediators, although trust has a stronger influence on repurchase intentions directly. Conclusion: Decisions give the best role in intervening with website quality and repurchase intentions, but directly website quality does not result in the repurchase. Although the decision does not provide the best role as a promotional mediator with direct or indirect repurchase intentions. In contrast, decisions as a trusted mediator ensure the occurrence of very strong repurchase intentions either directly or indirectly. In addition, this model contributes to e-commerce players, information system developers, and managers as a consideration in implementing strategic decision-making. The differences in the findings and shortcomings of this study are gaps that will become an important study in the context of online shopping behavior, especially the study of promotion which is inversely related to trust and research phenomena

The case for expressing nursing theories using ontologies.

Nursing and informatics share a common strength in their use of structured representations of domains, specifically the underlying notion of 'things' (ie, concepts, constructs, or named entities) and the relationships among those things. Accurate representation of nursing knowledge in machine-interpretable formats is a necessary next step for leveraging contemporary technologies. Expressing validated nursing theories in ontologies, and in particular formal ontologies, would serve not only nursing, but also investigators from other domains, clinical information system developers, and the users of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence that seek to learn from the real-world data and evidence generated by nurses and others. Such efforts will enable sharing knowledge and conceptualizations about phenomena across the domains of nursing and generating, testing, revising, and providing theoretically-based perspectives when leveraging contemporary technologies. Nursing is well situated for this work, leveraging intentional and focused collaborations among nurse informaticists, scientists, and theorists.

Implementation of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) Type of Cooperative Model Assisted by Trello Application in Sport Health Education Courses Penjas FKIP UNIB

Sports Health Education uses the Agile Scrum Trello Application as a learning medium in the application of the Number Head Together (NHT) model to the fifth semester students of the Physical Education Study Program, FKIP University of Bengkulu. This research shows that the combined use of Agile Scrum and Trello can be continuously maintained and practiced by information system developers. The combination of the two is quite reliable, with the use of Trello, and implemented into the Cooperative model of Number Head Together (NHT) type, collaboration between teams is more harmonious and task tracking is easier. This research is a classroom action research that uses this descriptive method and will be carried out in two cycles. Where data collection is done through test and non-test techniques. As a result, the achievement targets were obtained in cycle II with the following details; 15 students or 42% got category A, 17 students or 47% got category B, 4 students or 11% got category C, and none or 0 students got category D. The results of the questionnaire responses distributed to students showed they gained the final score of 24.61 or obtained an average of 4.1 which means the category most chosen by students is agreed. These results indicate that the implementation of learning in the application of the Number Head Together (NHT) model to the fifth semester students of the Physical Education Study Program, FKIP University of Bengkulu, is of interest to students.

Psychometric analysis of Integrated Digital Library User Success (IDLUS) Scale in academic digital library environment

Purpose The purpose of this study is to execute the application of confirmatory factor analysis in structural equation modeling, to investigate the reliability and validity of the proposed integrated digital library user success (IDLUS) scale in academic digital library computing information system in the area of information management and systems. Design/methodology/approach The study analyzed 355 valid responses (MPhil and PhD) from the largest and oldest public sector university in Pakistan. Sample selection was calculated through a stratified random sampling technique from the four faculties of the University of the Punjab. The instrument was constructed based on the available two digital library and information system success models. The first model is Jung’s (1997) digital library user success model that is further composed of flow model (1977), end user computing satisfaction model (1987) and Joshi’s overall user satisfaction model (1990). Similarly, the second model is DeLone and McLean’s reformulated information system success (2003) theory. The question items used a five-point Likert scale and executed regression weights, standardized regression weights, convergent validity, variance extracted, construct reliability and discriminant validity to infer results. Findings Findings show that the IDLUS scale has excellent validity and reliability estimates. Research limitations/implications The study has theoretical implications for researchers and practical implications for information system developers. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this scale is the first-ever effort to measure the digital library user success in the context of Higher Education Commission-National Digital Library of Pakistan. Therefore, there was a dire need to conduct the psychometric analysis of the scale to examine the model fit statistics on the current sample in the particular cultural norms. Scale is based upon human factors taken from various Web success and information system success models from the fields of human–computer interaction information systems and computer-mediated communication.

What is holding back business process virtualization in the post-COVID-19 era? Based on process virtualization theory (PVT).

The post-pandemic COVID-19 has been influential in accelerating the digital transformation of enterprises and business process virtualization. However, in a virtual working environment with no physical interaction, the psychological requirements of the communication between teleworkers and the negative impact of information systems are hindering the business process virtualization. Studying the relationship between the interaction between organizational members and job performance is an important part of organizational psychology. For an enterprise to maintain high-efficiency output, it is necessary to study psychological factors related to business process virtualization. This paper verified the factors hindering business process virtualization based on process virtualization theory (PVT). The research was implemented on a sample of 343 teleworkers in China enterprises. The structure of the model of this study includes two aspects that hinder the business process virtualization: the psychological requirements of teleworkers (Sensory requirements, Synchronism requirements, and Relationship requirements) and the negative effects of information systems (Information overload and Communication overload). The results show that teleworkers' sensory requirements, synchronism requirements, and communication overload negatively impact business process virtualization. However, unlike the results in the existing literature, the relationship requirements and information overload do not affect the business process virtualization. The results will help business managers, teleworkers, and information system developers develop strategies to address the negative factors hindering business process virtualization. In the so-called new "normal era," our research will help companies to create a successful virtual work environment.

Determining the requirements of a medical records electronic deficiency management system: a mixed-method study

PurposeDespite the presence of electronic medical records systems, traditional paper-based methods are often used in many countries to document data and eliminate medical record deficiencies. These methods waste patient and hospital resources. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the traditional deficiency management system and determine the requirements of an electronic deficiency management system in settings that currently use paper records alongside electronic hospital information systems.Design/methodology/approachThis mixed-method study was performed in three phases. First, the traditional process of medical records deficiency management was qualitatively evaluated. Second, the accuracy of identifying deficiencies by the traditional and redesigned checklists was compared. Third, the requirements for an electronic deficiency management system were discussed in focus group sessions.FindingsProblems in the traditional system include inadequate guidelines, incomplete procedures for evaluating sheets and subsequent delays in activities. Problems also included the omission of some vital data elements and a lack of feedback about the documentation deficiencies of each documenter. There was a significant difference between the mean number of deficiencies identified by traditional and redesigned checklists (p < 0.0001). The authors proposed an electronic deficiency management system based on redesigned checklists with improved functionalities such as discriminating deficiencies based on the documenter’s role, providing systematic feedback and generating automatic reports.Originality/valuePrevious studies only examined the positive effect of audit and feedback methods to enhance the documentation of data elements in electronic and paper medical records. The authors propose an electronic deficiency management system for medical records to solve those problems. Health-care policymakers, hospital managers and health information systems developers can use the proposed system to manage deficiencies and improve medical records documentation.

ICT-enabled agricultural extension: How to promote and sustain?

Governments in developing countries have invested in and digitalized various citizen services to obtain significant economic and societal benefits. However, academic and practice literature documented that the success rate of ICT-led development projects has been less than satisfactory. Therefore, this study aimed to find the priority areas where ICTs-based agricultural projects could be successful and propose measurable indicators to consider while designing and developing such initiatives. This study adopted a qualitative research methodology and interviewed eleven (11) top-ranked professionals from ten (10) organizations involved in carrying out several ICT-based projects in agriculture. Responses were analyzed qualitatively using ‘Thematic Analysis’. The analysis revealed a total of forty codes and nine thematic areas (e.g. creating agricultural knowledge hub, providing extension services, developing farmers’ database, initiating capacity building programs, developing Decision Support Systems (DSS) for different segments, developing farming alert systems, agricultural market information system, ICT-based community building, and formulating ICT strategies for agriculture) and proposed five (5) sets of measuring indicators (e.g. economic, quality of life, community development, service quality, technology acceptance) that would be useful in designing and measuring the success of ICT interventions. The findings of this study might help policymakers and Information Systems (IS) developers to identify priority areas for ICT-led interventions along with its success indicators. This study provides further evidence of the importance of considering economic and non-economic drivers of ICT adoption for development. It conveys important insights concerning the success dimensions of ICT-based agricultural projects certainly critical for resource management and livelihoods improvement.

Identifying the content, functionalities, and features of a mobile application for contact lens wearers

BackgroundLack of attention to end-users' requirements and preferences may lead to the failure of health information technology (IT) interventions. Identifying users’ needs for designing a mobile application can lead to the development of an acceptable intervention. This study aimed to determine the requirements for designing a mobile application to educate and provide needed information to contact lens (CL) wearers.MethodsA qualitative study was conducted on 24 CL wearers and nine eye care practitioners from the three CL clinics in Iran. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the conventional content analysis proposed by Lundman and Graneheim. Lincoln and Guba's criteria were used to ensure the trustworthiness of the data.ResultsThe three main categories that emerged from the interviews were mobile application content, mobile application functionalities, and mobile application features. Ten subcategories and 57 sub-subcategories were also identified. It was determined that mobile content should focus on advice and information for optimizing the CL wearing experience and training regarding the use of CLs. Entering information required for self-care, computational capability, interactivity, updates, and reminders were determined as needed functionalities. The participants recommended features for the structure and user interface of the mobile application and information presentation methods.ConclusionThis study identified the information needed to develop a mobile application for CL wearers. This also provides insights regarding required functionalities when applying IT interventions. These findings can be used by CL clinics, developers of health information systems, policymakers, and health planners to design better CL-related care and compliance interventions.

Implementation of a clinical decision support system to improve the medical data quality for hypertensive patients

The digitalization of healthcare relies heavily on data analytics from medical information systems. Such systems aggregate information from heterogeneous sources, including electronic medical records. Improving the quality of data from electronic medical records is a modern challenge for developers of medical information systems. The authors have designed a decision support system with an expanded set of auxiliary functions to solve the problems of human-computer interaction, increasing the completeness and reliability of medical information. In this paper, the applicability of the existing decision-making system is investigated on the example of medical data of patients with arterial hypertension. The testing of the decision support system among medical specialists was carried out. The impact of the implementation of the system on the number of errors when filling out an electronic medical record was assessed. A software module was created integrated into the working version of the medical information system in the Almazov National Medical Research Centre. Test implementation of the system made it possible to reduce the number of errors and increase satisfaction with the information presented in patients with arterial hypertension.

Economic aspects of information protection under present large-scale cyber-attacks conditions

The main attacks that have caused irreparable damage to enterprises and organizations around the world in recent years and radically changed the attitude to cyber-attacks and the fight against them are analyzed; systematized scientific and technical prerequisites for the security of information technology; substantiated the tasks facing the developers of modern information systems; the consequences of attacks on information are investigated and the main factors influencing financial losses due to security breaches are identified.

APPLICATION OF THE SECURE HASHING ALGORITHM (SHA) METHOD AND ROLE-BASED ACCESS SECURITY AUTHENTICATION IN LARAVEL 7

Information systems that are well made will produce applications that have optimal performance for all accesses to the system. The problem that is often encountered is a system that is easy to hack and tamper with entering from the login system, causing the system to experience data security failure and is accompanied by very dangerous file and database damage. The Laravel Framework provides access security that is Progressive, Scalable and Community Framework to be developed by information system developers, but for the default system from Laravel 7 it is still not enough to provide a solution for data security and access levels for users. Then additional systems are needed in the form of: Secure Hashing Algorithm (SHA), Multi Level Access Algorithm (MLA) and Middleware Checking Access System to overcome data security problems, access and system damage. Testing on the modified login system from the Laravel 7 framework this study has been successful to map users, their access levels, block SQL injection and secure data access accordingly

A Tale of Two Inspection Methods: Comparing an eHealth Literacy and User Experience Checklist with Heuristic Evaluation.

Adhering to user experience (UX) and eHealth literacy principles when developing consumer health information systems (HISs) can not only improve a user's experience but can also have implications on patient safety. Methods exist to explore these dimensions independently, but few methods are available for evaluating consumer (i.e., citizen) health information systems for their adherence to usability and eHealth literacy design principles simultaneously. In this paper, we compared two inspection (i.e., expert review) tools and identified the strengths and weaknesses of each. The findings from this comparison can assist researchers, consumer health information system developers, and evaluators choosing between the two alternatives. Moreover, our comparison revealed the shortcomings in both tools and the need for a novel, purpose-built tool that is more comprehensive than either of the existing tools that assess UX and eHealth literacy and more adequately address design guidelines for the mobile environment.

AutoECART: Automatic energy conservation analysis of rovibronic transitions

Despite decades of diligent work on their development, line-by-line (LBL) spectroscopic information systems, widely employed by scientists and engineers, may still contain a number of incorrect rovibronic lines. A novel heuristic protocol, relying on cycle bases of spectroscopic networks (SN) and a system of linear constraints, is proposed to unravel incorrect transitions present in the database. The algorithm is named autoECART, standing for automatic Energy Conservation Analysis of Rovibronic Transitions. The autoECART method is tested on synthetic SNs constructed from spectroscopic databases of nine water isotopologues. The systematic numerical tests demonstrate the outstanding capability of the autoECART procedure to identify almost all of the outliers generated randomly in these synthetic SNs. As a ‘real-life’ example, the GEISA-2019-H218O database is scrutinized, revealing 17 rough outlier lines. Developers of spectroscopic information systems are encouraged to utilize autoECART for cleansing the huge number of transitions deposited in LBL databases.

Improving the Performance of Hospital Information Systems Using Six Sigma for Kermanshah Province Hospitals

Background: Performance improvement in hospitals requires an appropriate model for performance evaluation. Because organizational goals cannot be achieved without a comprehensive model for evaluating and reviewing programs, organizations cannot apply effective management of programs without regard to the results of their activities. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to introduce a new model for improving the performance of hospital information systems using Six Sigma method in Kermanshah province hospitals. Methods: This is a qualitative research based on content analysis and Delphi method. The data are collected through semi-structured interviews and the participants are 19 experts in hospital performance systems which were selected by snowball sampling. After transcribing the interviews, three steps were done using content analysis: firstly, using line-by-line coding (or open coding) words and segments of interviews were coded, secondly, each code was conceptualized and categorized into some axial codes based on focused coding, and finally, selective coding was done in which categories were identified based on axial codes’ similarity, conceptual relationship and common characteristics. Results: The results of the coding of the interviews showed that variables such as reduction of medical errors, improvement of hospital quality of services, promotion of hospital efficiency and productivity, quick and easy access to information, increased patient satisfaction and safety, management and cost reduction, and time management and control influences the performance of hospital information systems. Conclusions: For improving hospital information systems, hospital managers and system developers should not only pay attention to variables which are controlled by the software and are least affected by the human resources of the organization; such as: cost control, quality control, information control and time control but also human based variables such as specialization of the staffs, their motivation, reduce errors and etc., which are sometimes neglected.
