Mobile App Development Strategies for Modern Business Information Systems

This study explores into the realm of mobile app development strategies within modern business information systems. Through an exploration encompassing surveys, interviews, and case studies, the study uncovers insights into prevalent strategies, preferred tools, and challenges faced. Hybrid app development emerged as a favored approach (45%), offering a balance between platform coverage and performance. Case studies showcased the benefits of Agile methodologies in healthcare and retail sectors, resulting in improved patient engagement and elevated sales. Challenges encompassed cross-platform compatibility (60%), security concerns (45%), and performance optimization complexities (35%). Key success factors highlighted the versatility of Agile methodologies, the necessity of early security considerations, and the centrality of user-centered design. Determinants of electronic invoicing technology adoption: Toward managing business information system transformation

This paper aims to examine the adoption of electronic-invoicing (e-invoicing) technology using a Technological-Organisational-Environmental (TOE) framework, especially toward managing business information system transformation in emerging economies. A Partial Least Square (PLS) Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used for construct measurement, and logistic regression was used for model testing. We found compatibility, complexity, relative advantage, trialability, firm size, and competitive and regulatory pressure to act as determinants of e-invoicing technology adoption. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing theoretical underpinning to e-invoicing technology penetration literature and toward adopting this innovation in the business-to-business market context. It also offers insights into the implementation of e-invoicing from the perspective of emerging economies.

Implementation Enterprise Resource Planning Sales and Purchase of Goods Using WebERP Fushia Clothing Store Denpasar

The application of integrated information systems in business requires improvements related to system performance. A business can run well if every division in it is integrated with one another. One of the obstacles in this research is that the sales business process is still done manually, data storage on Ms. Excel, and between divisions one with other divisions have not been integrated. The technology proposed as a solution to these problems is Enterprise Resource Planning. This research was conducted by implementing the ERP model using WebERP which is used to assist the entire series of business processes at Fushia Stores. The research conducted focuses on three parts of the process, namely on the Sales, Purchase, and Inventory sections. The implemented implementation has met the needs of Fushia Stores with a system trial result of 71.66% or the equivalent of an agree index scale. The system implemented is able to improve and integrate all data so that data processing becomes more effective and efficient to use.

Impact of Blockchain Technology for Business and Information Systems: Automation of Inter-Company Debt Compensation Case Study

Debt compensation is a process via which various entities (companies, people, etc.) propose the payment of their mutual debts by compensating them according to the credits they may have in their favor. The aim is to establish the financial information of a company so that its debts can somehow be satisfied by its credits, breaking the vicious cycle of debts that cannot be paid. To this end, this financial information is retrieved from the business information system of a company, encompassing how much is owed and to which companies. From the retrieved information, this paper describes the implementation of an automatic system that allows calculating not only the debt cycles involving different companies, but also how these cycles can be effectively solved using blockchain technology thanks to the use of smart contracts. Blockchain technology can have a great impact for companies in this kind of application, guaranteeing the security and traceability of transactions among companies, which are two well-appreciated features from a financial auditing point of view.

Submitting the ‘right’ reflection

ABSTRACT While the benefits of reflection for students are well documented, there is a parallel body of research pointing to varying levels of engagement with reflection. Students on a four-year business information systems programme have to complete a reflection as part of their placement assessment. Using a constructivist qualitative methodology, this research explores the students' experience of reflecting with a view to identifying what supports could be useful to guide students in the future. Using semi-structured interviews, the students described a focus on description of activities and overall uncertainty on what to write. There are multiple possible interventions which could support the students but some would require significant and high-level support within the university.

With each decade, the number of challenges and problems in business administration and management increases in direct proportion to the rate of economic progress of the world economy. The market type of economy, characteristic of almost all developed countries of the world today, in which the influence of the state on the activities of business entities is minimal, mostly prevented the establishment of control and regulation of their activities. Over time, the main principle of the economy of Western countries became "democratic evolutionism", that is, the gradual solution of problems step by step, based on negotiations and consensus. Recent years have shown that this principle of solving problems does not keep up with the rapid changes in the economy caused by both technological discoveries and unforeseen events. In these circumstances, a large layer of responsibility for stability falls on the shoulders of company management, accordingly, the coverage of modern challenges based on real experience and the analysis of the use of information systems in business is relevant.
 This article examines the current state and trends of the world economy in the coming years. The main challenges of management are analyzed and highlighted taking into account the current economic situation, cases of management activities on the example of real companies are considered. The role of information systems, their types, advantages and limitations in business are considered. The author's reflection of the prospects of management development with the use of information systems is carried out.

Social Impact & Project Performance Measurement Methods and Challenges in Practice: A Study on Women Empowerment NGOs

Objective – This study explores the social impact measurement (SIM) methods and the associated challenges from the perspective of women empowerment NGOs in Turkey. A literature review was conducted regarding the social impact measurement of non-profit organizations, social impact tools and frameworks, challenges of the social impact measurement, and business information systems used in social impact and project performance tools. Methodology – After that, a structured interview was designed and implemented to examine the output, outcome, and social impact measurement processes of 11 women’s empowerment NGOs in Turkey. Findings – Coding of the data and thematic analysis was conducted based on that qualitative research, and extremely insightful findings were revealed. The lack of expertise, budget, human resources, and established processes are significant challenges for women empowerment NGOs in Turkey. Also, the results of this empirical study indicated the need for digital tools and platforms for social impact measurement, which may also be a cost-saving tool enabling knowledge transfer and process efficiency for SIM. Novelty –Together with that, the study provided unique findings that may contribute to the literature, which address some of the SIM challenges caused by funder organizations’ budgeting policies and lack of demand for detailed SIM reports. Effects of Covid19 on Digital Business & Operations Management Information System

Social removing limitations and changes in wellbeing and financial interest brought about by COVID-19 are supposed to close down numerous businesses and operations, however early proof of the impact is scant. Synthetic dataset generator for anomaly detection in a university environment

This article introduces a recently developed synthetic dataset generator, which contains anonymised data from the Prague University of Economics and Business information system logs. The generator is opensource and is able to scale this data time-wise and also perform injection of the data with cyberattackers’ behaviour patterns. The anonymised data still contains user behaviour patterns; therefore, individual anomalous behaviour can be detected. Different types of real attack behaviour patterns in the university environment have been selected; they are used to demonstrate attackers’ behaviour in synthetically created system logs. The mentioned features allow other researchers to benchmark their anomaly detection algorithms with complex data.

Using multi-focus group method as an effective tool for eliciting business system requirements: Verified by a case study.

This research aims to explore the multi-focus group method as an effective tool for systematically eliciting business requirements for business information system (BIS) projects. During the COVID-19 crisis, many businesses plan to transform their businesses into digital businesses. Business managers face a critical challenge: they do not know much about detailed system requirements and what they want for digital transformation requirements. Among many approaches used for understanding business requirements, the focus group method has been used to help elicit BIS needs over the past 30 years. However, most focus group studies about research practices mainly focus on a particular disciplinary field, such as social, biomedical, and health research. Limited research reported using the multi-focus group method to elicit business system requirements. There is a need to fill this research gap. A case study is conducted to verify that the multi-focus group method might effectively explore detailed system requirements to cover the Case Study business's needs from transforming the existing systems into a visual warning system. The research outcomes verify that the multi-focus group method might effectively explore the detailed system requirements to cover the business's needs. This research identifies that the multi-focus group method is especially suitable for investigating less well-studied, no previous evidence, or unstudied research topics. As a result, an innovative visual warning system was successfully deployed based on the multi-focus studies for user acceptance testing in the Case Study mine in Feb 2022. The main contribution is that this research verifies the multi-focus group method might be an effective tool for systematically eliciting business requirements. Another contribution is to develop a flowchart for adding to Systems Analysis & Design course in information system education, which may guide BIS students step by step on using the multi-focus group method to explore business system requirements in practice.

Including business strategy in model-driven methods: an experiment

Software-centric organisations design a loosely coupled organisation structure around strategic objectives, replicating this design to their business processes and information systems. Nowadays, dealing with business strategy in a model-driven development context is a challenge since key concepts such as the organisation’s structure and strategic ends and means have been mostly addressed at the enterprise architecture level for the strategic alignment of the whole organisation, and have not been included into MDD methods as a requirements source. To overcome this issue, researchers have designed the LiteStrat, a business strategy modelling method compliant with MDD for developing information systems. This article presents an empirical comparison of LiteStrat and with i*, one of the most used models for strategic alignment in an MDD context. The article contributes with a literature review on the experimental comparison of modelling languages, the design of a study for measuring and comparing the semantic quality of modelling languages, and empirical evidence of the LiteStrat and i* differences. The evaluation consists of a 2 × 2 factorial experiment recruiting 28 undergraduate subjects. Significant differences favouring LiteStrat were found for models’ accuracy and completeness, while no differences in modeller’s efficiency and satisfaction were detected. These results yield evidence of the suitability of LiteStrat for business strategy modelling in a model-driven context.

Translation Strategies of the Terminologies in the Thesis Abstracts of the Faculty of Industrial Technology

This study examines the translation strategies of the terminologies in the eighty thesis abstracts of the Faculty of Industrial Technology. There are twenty abstracts from the Industrial Engineering Department, twenty-one abstracts from the Mechanical Engineering and Design, twenty abstracts from the Business Information System, and nineteen abstracts from the Electrical Engineering Department. The writer uses Baker’s (2018) eight translation strategies as theory. This study applies a descriptive qualitative methodology for the research. The result shows that five of eight translation strategies were used in translating terminologies in the thesis abstracts. The strategies are general word, cultural substitution, loan word/ loan word with explanation, paraphrase using related word, paraphrase using unrelated word. This study shows that loan word is the strategy that is used the most in translating terminologies. This strategy is used because a lot of terminologies from the abstracts of the faculty of Industrial Technology comes from English words.

What is holding back business process virtualization in the post-COVID-19 era? Based on process virtualization theory (PVT).

The post-pandemic COVID-19 has been influential in accelerating the digital transformation of enterprises and business process virtualization. However, in a virtual working environment with no physical interaction, the psychological requirements of the communication between teleworkers and the negative impact of information systems are hindering the business process virtualization. Studying the relationship between the interaction between organizational members and job performance is an important part of organizational psychology. For an enterprise to maintain high-efficiency output, it is necessary to study psychological factors related to business process virtualization. This paper verified the factors hindering business process virtualization based on process virtualization theory (PVT). The research was implemented on a sample of 343 teleworkers in China enterprises. The structure of the model of this study includes two aspects that hinder the business process virtualization: the psychological requirements of teleworkers (Sensory requirements, Synchronism requirements, and Relationship requirements) and the negative effects of information systems (Information overload and Communication overload). The results show that teleworkers' sensory requirements, synchronism requirements, and communication overload negatively impact business process virtualization. However, unlike the results in the existing literature, the relationship requirements and information overload do not affect the business process virtualization. The results will help business managers, teleworkers, and information system developers develop strategies to address the negative factors hindering business process virtualization. In the so-called new "normal era," our research will help companies to create a successful virtual work environment.

Employees' Understanding of Service-Oriented Strategy: A Case of Business Services in Indonesia

Organizational culture refers to the underlying beliefs, assumptions, values, and interaction styles contributing to the distinctive social and psychological environment. The study was measured statistically with approximately 200 participants in Indonesia. The service-oriented strategy had a significant good and direct influence on business services, while the greater service-oriented strategy had an extra influence on the respondents' organizational readiness and knowledge exchange. Through their business services, service-oriented firms seek to delight customers, produce and deliver customer value in the marketplace, and enhance their company's performance and profitability. In order to meet the ever-increasing demands of investors, employees, and consumers, business organizations are continuously under pressure to assess and enhance their performance in competitive markets. As a result, businesses partition their organization and related business services into smaller, self-sufficient company components that can interact to optimize efficiency. In order to be capable of providing excellent services, business services must clearly adhere to business-oriented strategies.

Business System Information Analysis Process Outcome in Hospital General Bengkayang Area

In the application of the outpatient information system business process at the Bengkayang Regional General Hospital, there are still problems faced, namely the occurrence of incompatibility of patient medical data information in the examination section / poly section, resulting in delays in the patient handling process. This is the background for the author to analyze the business process of outpatient system information at the Bengkayang General Hospital using the Business Process Management Life Cycle method. This study aims to determine how effective it is in managing the outpatient information system business process at the Bengkayang Regional General Hospital. The analytical technique used is BPMN, value chain, business area analysis and the method used is the BPM life cycle. The results of this study can support the current business processes for the better. With the addition and improvement of optimal technology, with existing information system technology to obtain a more detailed and complete procedural flow chart. The resulting procedure flow chart will integrate the data in each part of the service unit in the outpatient department, so that the data can be used together between departments so that data duplication can be avoided.

Big data and big risk: a four-factor framework for big data security and privacy

Big data refers to a very large volume of data with possibly varied and complex structure. With growing data processing and data analytic techniques, big data provides significant benefits to organisations and individuals by improving productivity and enriching people's life. However, security and privacy are big concerns for big data applications. While a large quantity of data is collected, securely storing, processing and using the data are challenging. In this paper, we propose a four-factor framework for big data security and privacy in business information systems. The proposed framework addresses big data security and privacy issues in terms of collecting the right data, collecting the right amount of data, protecting the data in the right way, and using the data for the right purposes. We present a set of approaches and models for each of the four factors to improve big data security and privacy.

ПЕРСПЕКТИВЫ ВНЕДРЕНИЯ ИНФОРМАЦИОННЫХ СИСТЕМ В ДЕЯТЕЛЬНОСТЬ ТУРИСТИЧЕСКОЙ КОМПАНИИ

The article is devoted to the study of the prospects for the introduction of information systems in the activities of a travel company. The theoretical state and foundations in the field of modern information systems for the purposes of enterprise management are specified, the types of such systems are identified, and their description is given. The characteristic features and manifestations of digitalization of travel companies at the present stage are described, which mainly reflects the specific features and needs of a travel company in the choice of information systems. A comparison is made of the existing types of information systems for managing a travel company, taking into account their characteristic advantages and disadvantages. It is concluded that the prospects for the introduction of enterprise management information systems in the travel business are associated with the achievement of such global typical effects as: cost optimization, reduction in the speed of operations, elimination of the negative impact of the human factor, release of human potential, formation of a database with structured / unstructured information, competitiveness growth due to additional opportunities that arise due to modern technologies, support for managerial decision-making, ensuring management transparency, increasing information security, etc.
