Disparities in patients' understanding of cardiovascular disease management.

Non-communicable diseases, including cardiovascular disease (CVD), are some of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Despite the effectiveness of early diagnostic and treatment options, patient screening, disease detection and disease progression remain a challenge, resulting in suboptimal outcomes. Consequently, cardiovascular diseases remain underdiagnosed and undertreated, particularly in developing countries. Several barriers, including paucity of recommended cardiovascular health information and low literacy levels, lead to a poor understanding of the importance of intervention in terms of modifiable risk factors as well as treatment adherence. This narrative review focuses on cardiovascular patients' understanding of their disease, and the need for compliance with their medication and lifestyle modifications. Low levels of perception and insufficient knowledge of CVDs among patients continue to be indispensably important factors in health behaviour. Increased awareness of these issues has the potential to improve the effectiveness of the multidisciplinary cardiovascular team and ultimately improve the care provided to these patients.

In modern conditions, for pharmacy, as an integral part of healthcare, new concepts and technologies of pharmaceutical services and, in general, pharmaceutical care, aimed at consumers of medicines of different categories and professional groups, have become a powerful incentive for further development. Important importance in working with consumers of medical and pharmaceutical goods and services is attached to marketing research of consumer behavior; the study of preferences in the selection of goods factors influencing the decision to purchase. Of particular importance is the consumer behavior of modern pharmacy customers, which is changing due to an imbalance between the state of the pharmacy system's customer base and existing methods of customer counseling. There is a need to focus on different segments of consumers, each of which requires specific client technologies that contribute to the transformation of consumer behavior from "standard" to individual, corresponding to the status, mentality, financial capabilities, level of information literacy, typology of the buyer. Studying the assessments and opinions of respondents helps to identify patterns in consumer behavior and makes it possible to develop a more thoughtful strategy for information and advisory work with employees of the coal industry, paying special attention to issues of pharmaceutical consulting, information, attentive service, the use of new forms and methods of work that would increase consumer interest in purchasing effective and safe medicines. The consumer's decision-making process is considered, as a rule, as part of the following stages: consumer awareness of the problem, information search, evaluation and selection of purchase alternatives, purchase, use of purchase and evaluation of the solution. The factors of consumer behavior or purchasing decisions in relation to the buyer are conditionally divided into internal and external. Pharmaceutical organizations that sell medicines seek to influence consumer behavior by building their activities based on the concept of marketing. Knowledge of the basics of marketing is necessary to manage consumer behavior in the market.

Impact of Information Literacy on Academic Performance among Undergraduate Students in Nigeria

Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of information literacy on academic performance among undergraduate students in Nigeria.
 Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries.
 Findings: A study on the impact of information literacy on academic performance among undergraduate students in Nigeria found a significant positive correlation between information literacy skills and academic achievement. The research highlighted that students with higher levels of information literacy were more likely to demonstrate better performance in their coursework, exams, and overall academic outcomes.
 Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Social cognitive theory, information processing theory& constructivist learning theory may be used to anchor future studies on the impact of information literacy on academic performance among undergraduate students in Nigeria. Integrate information literacy instruction into the university curriculum across disciplines, ensuring that students acquire essential skills for locating, evaluating, and utilizing information effectively. Develop national guidelines for information literacy instruction within Nigerian higher education institutions, outlining standards and best practices for integrating information literacy into the curriculum.

Necessary prerequisites for evidence-based practice: results of investigating nurses’ informatics competency and information literacy skills

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between nursing informatics (NI) competency and information literacy skills for evidence-based practice (EBP) among intensive care nurses. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 184 nurses working in intensive care units (ICUs). The study data were collected through demographic information, Nursing Informatics Competency Assessment Tool (NICAT), and information literacy skills for EBP questionnaires. The intensive care nurses received competent and low-moderate levels for the total scores of NI competency and information literacy skills, respectively. They received a moderate score for the use of different information resources but a low score for information searching skills, different search features, and knowledge about search operators, and only 31.5% of the nurses selected the most appropriate statement. NI competency and related subscales had a significant direct bidirectional correlation with information literacy skills for EBP and its subscales (P < 0.05). Nurses require a high level of NI competency and information literacy for EBP to obtain up-to-date information and provide better care and decision-making. Health planners and policymakers should develop interventions to enhance NI competency and information literacy skills among nurses and motivate them to use EBP in clinical settings.

Research on The Impact of Aluminum Enterprise Information System on Performance after Implementation

Chinese aluminum companies and their industries are undergoing high-tech manufacturing industry upgrades.However, as its capital investment in industrial informatization continues to increase, its corporate performance is still uncertain.This study selects China's aluminum companies as the research object. Through a sample survey and analysis of the informatization level and corporate performance of these representative companies, the research conclusions are as follows: The first is the ongoing transformation of Chinese aluminum companies into high-tech manufacturing industries. With the investment in industrial informatization, their corporate performance levels have been significantly improved. Second, enterprise information concept does not have a significant impact on corporate business coupling and corporate performance. Third, the degree of enterprise business coupling plays a partial mediating role in the impact of the four dimensions of enterprise informatization level (organizational management informatization, marketing means informatization, product production and processing informatization, and artificial intelligence application) on enterprise performance. Fourth, employees' own information literacy level plays a positive regulating role between corporate business coupling and corporate performance.

Information literacy of higher vocational college students in digital age

The digital age presents greater challenges to information literacy. However, the level of information literacy in different regions and populations is still controversial, especially for students in college or university. To investigate the information literacy level of college students in Guangzhou area of Guangdong Province, China, and provide a basis for guiding students to improve information literacy. A multi-center cross-sectional study was conducted from February to May 2023. The information literacy questionnaire was used to evaluate student’s information literacy, which included basic information and information literacy scale. Statistical description, non-parametric testing, and multiple linear regression were used for data analysis. A total of 1700 participants, 57.6% of the students had medium information literacy, and average score of information literacy was 226.84 ± 39.83. The number of students using laptops and mobile phones reached 83.8 and 86.5%, respectively. 45.7% of the students had their first contact with mobile phones in junior high school, 49.9% in primary school, but their information literacy is not ideal. The lowest score was 3.74 for information management and communication, followed by 3.75 for information retrieval and acquisition. The results of regression analysis demonstrated that grade, place of high school study, information literacy course, the time of first contact with mobile phones and the type of using electronic information equipment affected students' information literacy ( p < 0.05). The information literacy of students in higher vocational colleges is in the middle level. Although the use of electronic information equipment is popular, the overall level of information literacy still needs to be strengthened, especially for attach importance to information retrieval and acquisition, management and communication literacy. Students’ systematic learning process requires colleges to provide systematic and professional information literacy curriculum teaching.

Hubungan literasi informasi dengan self-directed learning mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi

The creation of a thesis, which is the outcome of student research, is one of the requirements for graduation in higher education. In the thesis completion process, students are required to have adequate information literacy and self-directed learning skills. Students of Fikom Unpad, class of 2016, were introduced to the concept of information literacy during the new student orientation and in the TPB (Preparation Stage for Learning) program in the KBLI (Information Literacy Learning Activities) course. This research aims to identify the relationship between information literacy and self-directed learning among Fikom Unpad students of the 2016 class in the thesis preparation process. The research method used is quantitative, utilizing Chi-square and Pearson Product Moment analysis. The theoretical foundation refers to the ACRL (Association of College, Research, and Library) standards of 2000, covering aspects of information needs, information search strategies, information evaluation, information usage, and ethics and law in information use. This study involved 209 students of Fikom Unpad, class of 2016, with a sample size of 136 individuals. The results show a significant relationship between information literacy (X) and self-directed learning (Y), with a high correlation between sub-variable X (information needs, information search strategies, and information usage) and variable Y. Meanwhile, other sub-variables of X (information evaluation, ethics, and the law of information use) have a moderate relationship with variable Y. It was found that students' motivation and self-directed learning ability can increase with improved information literacy skills, considering the interrelation between the indicators of information literacy and self-directed learning. The higher the level of students' information literacy, the better their self-directed learning abilities.

Lessons learned for infodemics management in future health crises by studying the fear of COVID-19 impact on health information seeking of general population

PurposeThe higher-level aim of this study is to investigate the impact of health information needs satisfaction on the fear of COVID-19 for the general population. The investigation is theoretically grounded on Wilsons’ model of information seeking in the context of inquesting the reasons for seeking health information as well as the information sources the general population deploy during the COVID-19 pandemic.Design/methodology/approachThis cross-sectional survey examines the correlations between health information seeking behavior and the COVID-19 generated fear in the general population through the application of a specially designed structured questionnaire which was distributed online. The questionnaire comprised four main distinct research dimensions (i.e. information needs, information sources, obstacles when seeking information and COVID-19 generated fear) that present significant validity levels.FindingsIndividuals were motivated to seek COVID-related health information to cope with the pandemic generated uncertainty. Information needs satisfaction as well as digital health literacy levels is associated with the COVID-19 generated fear in the general population. Finally, a conceptual framework based on Wilsons’ macro-model for information seeking behavior was developed to illustrate information needs satisfaction during the pandemic period. These results indicate the need for incentives to enhance health information needs satisfaction appropriately.Originality/valueThe COVID-19 generated fear in the general population is studied through the information seeking behavior lenses. A well-studied theoretical model for information seeking behavior is adopted for health-related information seeking during pandemic. Finally, digital health information literacy levels are also associated with the fear of COVID-19 reported in the authors’ survey.

Patterns of information literacy and their predictors among emergency department nurses: a latent profile analysis based on the person-context interaction theory

BackgroundWith the development of information technology, information has been an important resource in clinical medicine, particularly within the emergency department. Given its role in patient rescue, the emergency department demands a high level of information literacy from nurses to effectively collect, analyze, and apply information due to the urgency and complexity of emergency nursing work. Although prior studies have investigated the information literacy of nursing staff, little has been undertaken in examining the patterns of information literacy and their predictors among emergency department nurses.AimTo clarify the subtypes of information literacy among nurses in the emergency department and explore the factors affecting profile membership.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted among a convenience sample of 2490 nurses in the emergency department from April to June 2023. The clinical nurses completed the online self-report questionnaires including the general demographic questionnaire, information literacy scale, self-efficacy scale and social support scale. Data analyses involved the latent profile analysis, variance analysis, Chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression.ResultsFour latent profiles were identified: ‘Low information literacy (Class 1)’, ‘Moderate information knowledge (Class 2)’, ‘High information knowledge and support (Class 3)’ and ‘High information literacy (Class 4)’, accounting for 20.14%, 42.11%, 23.36% and 14.39%, respectively. Each profile displayed unique characteristics representative of different information literacy patterns. Age, years of work, place of residence, hospital grade, title, professional knowledge, using databases, reading medical literature, participating in information literacy training, self-efficacy, and social support significantly predicted information literacy profile membership.ConclusionsInformation literacy exhibits different classification features among emergency department nurses, and over half of the nurses surveyed were at the lower or middle level. Identifying sociodemographic and internal-external predictors of profile membership can aid in developing targeted interventions tailored to the needs of emergency department nurses. Nursing managers should actively pay attention to nurses with low information literacy and provide support to improve their information literacy level.Relevance to clinical practiceInsights from the current study of the latent profile analysis are beneficial to hospital managers in understanding the different types of emergency department nurses’ information literacy. These insights serve as a reference for managers to enhance nurses’ information literacy levels.

Digital and Information Literacy in Basic-Education Teachers: A Systematic Literature Review

Digital transformation has become constant and has forced governments to reevaluate the validity of their educational models; therefore, regarding digital and information literacy, to train teachers to improve new digital skills becomes essential. For these reasons, this research will explore the instruction of teachers in digital and information literacy in basic education; likewise, there will be an observation of the research’s theoretical-methodological characteristics related to these variables, and, also, we will carry out an analysis of the most pertinent contributions on the impact of new literacies and competencies in the teaching–learning processes in basic education, with the purpose of obtaining a current state overview of its teacher training within the framework of the technologies’ usage linked to teaching. This review was based on the guidelines of the PRISMA protocol, and to select 56 documents, the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases were used. The results show that, in the Scopus database, Spain is the country with the most research on the subject, with 29% of the total, followed by Indonesia, with 6%, and the United States, with 4%, and that the articles focus mainly on the social sciences and computer science. Likewise, in WoS, the country with the most research on the subject is Spain, with 30%, followed by Russia, with 10%, and Norway, with 8%, and the articles mainly revolve around the categories of education and communication. The research related to this topic uses a quantitative approach in 68%, a qualitative approach in 25% and a mixed approach in 7%. It was shown that there is a direct relationship between digital and information literacy and digital competency. In addition, it is also emphasized that digital and information literacy are continuous and long-term processes. More didactic proposals on digital skills would be necessary, over government policies and efforts, to achieve a community with a high level of digital and information literacy.

PteridophytaE-Encyclopedia of Kelud Mountain to Study of the Diversity of Fern Species in the Environment on the RICOSRE Model to Improve Student’s Information Literacy

The low level of information literacy and the lack of utilization of local potential is one of the reasons to develop the learning innovations. One of innovation is utilize local potential as a learning resource in the form of an e-encyclopedia and integrate it with the RICOSRE learning model. This research aims to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness from the pteridophyta e-encyclopedia of Kelud Mount for studying the diversity of fern species on RICOSRE model to increase information literacy. This research uses the development research with the ADDIE design and implemented in class X of students at SMA Negeri 1 Talun. The instruments research were questionnaires and information literacy rubrics. The data result was analyzed using the percentage equation, while information literacy data was analyzed with N-Gain equation and Independent Sample T-Test. The research results show that the pteridophyta e-encyclopedia are feasible by lecturer and stated to be practical by teachers and students. The conclusion is the information literacy of students who use e-encyclopaedia’s in RICOSRE learning is proven to be higher than students who do not use it.

The Influence of Perceived Trust, Information Literacy and Perceived Validity on Netizens' Perception That social media is an Appropriate Instrument for The Information Deployment

The purpose of this study is to ascertain how information literacy, perceived validity, and perceived trust of the variables affect people's adoption of social media as a vehicle for information dissemination. In general, a quantitative method is used to conduct this research. Social media users that are active or inactive and reside in five major Indonesian cities make up the demographic used in this study. Using the purposive sampling strategy, researchers collected samples. 100 people made up the study's sample. Questionnaires were distributed as part of the data collection process. Two phases of measurement were done in this investigation by the researchers. Analyze the measurement model first, and then analyze the model structure second. According to the results, most people in five major Indonesian cities have a 70% degree of trust in information found on social media. Let us therefore suppose that 60% of the information on social media is accurate. Therefore, it can be said that most individuals have a good level of information literacy, which enables them to evaluate the veracity of the information they are given rather than blindly accepting it. Perceived validity, perceived usefulness, perceived simplicity of use, and perceived trust are all directly impacted by information literacy, and these factors will indirectly affect actual use. Through usage patterns and intentions, perceived validity influences actual use among AUs in an indirect manner. Through perceived validity, perceived trust influences actual use in an indirect manner.

Research on the Construction of Information Literacy Education System in Universities under AI Environment

Traditional information literacy education in China focuses on using an information literacy course to cultivate students' theoretical learning such as information source collection. Students have a single learning channel and weak abilities in self-directed learning and innovation. The research on the cultivation system of information literacy in universities in China is still incomplete. The six articles on Applied Engineering and Technology Volume 2 No 3 December 2023 presented have significant relevance in current engineering and technological developments to the three sectors: Environmental sustainability, Medicine, and Education. First, in an era that increasingly pays attention to environmental sustainability, as reflected in efforts to mitigate the environmental impact of the oil and gas industry, Effiom's research on developing bio-based drilling fluid becomes relevant and reflects the industry's efforts to adopt environmentally friendly solutions in the oil and gas exploration process [1]. This research develops and optimizes local pear seed-based biocyte fluid. Throughout the world, oil exploration and exploitation have had severe environmental impacts. So, it is very important to develop drilling fluid for oil exploration. This research optimizes drilling fluids by using biodegradable materials. The optimized drilling fluid contains environmentally friendly and cost-effective characteristics and is expected to be widely used in oil exploration, reducing adverse environmental impacts. Princewill et al. [2] conducted a safety and economic evaluation of boil-off gas (BOG) in global petroleum (LPG) storage tanks. BOG production impacts safety and economic profitability in the liquefied petroleum gas supply chain. This research evaluates BOG production due to heat leaks in storage tanks by analyzing thermodynamic properties and heat transfer equations. The research results show that maintaining isolation and external factors minimizes BOG formation. Therefore, this research provides essential guidance and suggestions for the safety and economic benefits of the liquefied petroleum gas supply chain. Finally, Yudanto et al. [3] used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Taguchi methods to calculate the CPU cooling system. The performance and stability of electronic devices are significant for users in today's rapid development of information technology. This study analyzes the impact of different cooling system configurations on CPU temperatures and provides practical insights into electronic thermite design. Through numerical simulations, the research results provide an essential reference for developing computer hardware design. Second, Agughasi and Srinivasiah [4] developed a semisupervised method for characterizing multiple chest X-ray images in the medical field. Accurate marker images are critical for training supervised learning models in medical image handling. However, manually tagging a large number of images requires time and effort. Therefore, this study suggests using unsupervised cluster technology-based K-Means and Self-Organizing Maps to produce reliable images. In this way, medical imaging processing costs can be reduced significantly, speeding up the research and application process. Meanwhile, in the education sector, Mariscal et al. [5] developed the mobile application MobILcaps to improve information literacy for social science students in higher education as a relevant instrument to facilitate teaching. Information literacy is crucial for developing individuals and society in today's information era. Based on cognitive, constructivist, and connectivity theories, this application has provided multimedia resources for students to facilitate independent learning. By working with teachers and students, this application provides practical tools and avenues for increasing students' information literacy levels. In addition, Riva et al. [6] developed AdPisika as an electronic learning system tailored to improve student academic achievement. In today's educational environment, personalized learning is critical to increasing the impact of learning for students. This research, based on learning style models and machine learning algorithms, personally optimizes learning materials, thereby improving students' learning performance. This system has significantly improved students' academic performance through experimental verification, providing practical ways to align education. In conclusion, these studies make essential contributions and provide valuable references and guidance for applying engineering and technology research and practice in the fields of Environmental sustainability, Medicine, and Education. Future research could investigate the depth and breadth of these areas and test the feasibility and effectiveness of such research through practical applications and experimental testing. In the context of environmental sustainability potential research includes exploration in the development of bio-based drilling fluid using alternative materials that are more environmentally friendly, research on green technology to reduce the impact of boil-off gas (BOG) in the LPG industry, and research on processor types and system configurations as well as the development of more efficient materials and more innovative cooling technology to improve the performance of the CPU cooling system. In the medical field, deepen semi-supervised labeling methods for medical image processing can focus on developing more sophisticated algorithms and further validation of various medical datasets. Meanwhile, in the educational context, developing broader mobile applications could increase information literacy. It could be useful if it adapted to various disciplines and research on integrating more advanced AI technology for adaptive e-learning systems more effectively.

How can college teachers’ information literacy empower their innovative teaching behaviors under the background of informatization?

The innovative teaching behaviors of college teacher are of positive significance for promoting the construction of educational informatization in China and realizing the high-quality development of higher education. Based on the theory of social cognition and theory of behavioral change, the paper explores the influential mechanism and its boundary conditions of college teachers’ information literacy on their innovative teaching behaviors during the new era of educational informatization. Through the investigation of 280 college teachers, it is found that: (1) information literacy and its dimensions of information knowledge and information capability have a significant positive effect on innovative teaching behavior; (2) Creative self-efficacy plays a mediating role between information literacy (information knowledge and information capability) and innovative teaching behavior; (3) College innovation climate significantly moderates the positive relationship between information literacy (information awareness and information knowledge) and creative self-efficacy; (4) College innovation climate significantly moderates the mediating effect of creative self-efficacy between information literacy (information awareness and information knowledge) and innovative teaching behavior. Therefore, colleges and universities should focus on enhancing teachers’ information literacy level and their creative self-efficacy, creating an excellent atmosphere for innovation, and encouraging college teachers to actively carry out their innovative teaching practice in the new stage of educational informatization.

Teachers As Researchers: Assessing Research Literacy Levels Among Pre-service Teachers in Nigerian Universities

This study assessed the research literacy levels among pre-service teachers. The study adopted a descriptive design and sampled 297 pre-service teachers from two Nigerian South-eastern federal universities. Five research questions guided the study. Data was collected using a semi-structured question guide and a self-developed Research Literacy Test (RLT). Rasch model analysis established the unidimensionality and reliability of the research literacy test (RLT). Moreover, mean scores, standard deviations, t-tests and content analysis were used to answer the study research questions. The study findings showed that pre-service teachers' research literacy level was at the information literacy level. Significant differences were not found between males and females in their research literacy components except at the information level; males were generally more research literate than females. Finally, pre-service teachers indicated that they believe their faculties hold a positive disposition towards their acquisition of research literacy. Assessment and Practice of Information and Research Literacy Skills among Students in Indian Higher Education Institutions

The study presented and focused on the process and implementation of the information and research literacy program, the level of awareness among students and research scholars, and their potential after receiving information and research literacy training. The purpose of this study is to learn more about users' information and research literacy skills when it comes to various information sources and services. The essential component of information literacy provided students with a significant amount of insight into the practical instructional methods they could use to use the information sources without difficulty. The aim of this study is to assess the level of information and research literacy among students in Indian higher education institutions and to identify areas for improvement. The study found that while students have basic knowledge of information and research literacy, they struggle with more advanced research skills such as finding, evaluating, and synthesizing information. To separate the content, a list of 33 topics was used, covering the majority of topics to measure the awareness of information and research literacy skills and how to overcome their improper implementation among students and research scholars. The study highlights the need for institutions to prioritize the development of these skills through targeted training and practice opportunities.

Married Indonesian Women’s Everyday Health-Information Literacy Related to COVID-19

ABSTRACT This paper presents a study about the everyday health information literacy (EHIL) related to COVID-19 of 394 married women in a suburban city in West Java Province, Indonesia. This study aimed to understand married Indonesian women’s EHIL related to COVID-19 and identify topics searched for by married Indonesian women on everyday health information related to COVID-19. The findings reveal that most married Indonesian women studied had a relatively high level of health information literacy regarding COVID-19 (3.81 mean value) and tended to search for healthy lifestyle topics related to COVID-19 for daily health information (n = 298, 75.63%).
