A combined transport system characteristically includes many activities, resources and actors. To accomplish an efficient transport service, much attention must be paid to the interfaces between information systems controlling the flow of goods. Four concepts for information flow design are presented; two using printed documents and two using computer communication. One domestic and one border-crossing, real-life transport service illustrate potential savings by implementing computer communication.
