Composing Music for Choreographic Projects: Cases and Trends

All over the world the studies on the collaboration between music composers and dance creators are highly sought after. This is driven by the rapid evolution of musical and choreographic art fields in today’s creative industries. Organizing and promoting such cultural practices is crucial to complement the creative aspect. That’s why the present study examines the tendencies of compositional creativity in Kazakhstan in terms of its integration into choreographic projects. It can also be considered as a projection on cultural management. The article aims to the analytical review of the recent years’ implemented cases, that demonstrate the ways and formats of interaction between music and dance. The article considers the following questions: the interaction of music and choreography in a historical context; the creation of music and compilation of music for ballet; the design of music for dance and dance video, as well as the ways to support compositional creativity.This study of temporal and spatial art forms is built at the interface of several sciences. For the conceptual analysis the authors of the article required a wide range of historical and socio-cultural sources in the specified areas of art. The work was divided into several stages and used analytical, comparative and historical methods projected onto the Kazakh musical theater and other institutions related to the dance art. Also, an interviewing method was applied for the survey of practicing composers and directors, music editors and performers.The design of music and choreography has a wide range of relationships and demands that are necessary for the execution of audiovisual projects.This article with its understanding of cases in the field of ballet theater, dance troupes or video clips may be interesting both theoretically and practically not only for the scholars, but also for composers and choreographers who are only at the beginning of their creative paths. In addition, the article raises the problem of promoting and supporting compositional creativity. A thorough understanding of the music creation process for dance can foster more effective collaborations among creators, as well as the development of cultural management and clusters of creative industries.

Research on the Development and Policy Evolution of CCUS Industry at Home and Abroad

CCUS is internationally recognized as one of the three major pathways to achieve carbon neutrality goals. It is an important choice for realizing zero emissions from large-scale fossil energy utilization and a feasible technological solution to offset carbon emissions in industries such as power, steel, and cement where emissions reductions are challenging. Systematic analysis of the development and policy evolution of the CCUS industry at home and abroad can provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for China's energy transition and development under the background of carbon emission peaking and achieving carbon neutrality. Guided by the strategic goals of national energy security, carbon emission peaking, and achieving carbon neutrality, this study aims to analyze the global development process and stage characteristics of the CCUS industry, investigate the supporting policies in the CCUS field and their evolution patterns, summarize the current status and trends of the CCUS industry at home and abroad, and provide reference for the implementation of national energy green and low-carbon transformation and the construction of a new energy system. In terms of industry, European and American countries emphasize national-level technological guidance and macro-control. The United States has introduced the progressive 45Q tax credit policy, and the European Union has included CCUS in its carbon trading system. The US National Carbon Capture Center provides a testing environment and facilities for CCUS technology research and development, and has established a carbon dioxide industry cluster and transportation hub. In terms of policies, tax credits and carbon trading policies in Europe and America have attracted various types of capital investment, establishing a relatively complete legal framework system. These regions have been leading in CCUS technology research and deployment, holding dominant positions and decision-making power in mainstream international CCUS organizations such as the CSLF, IEA, GCCSI, and OGCI. This study benchmarks the forward-looking and strategic development status of the CCUS industry at home and abroad, elucidates the challenges facing CCUS industry development, and proposes future trends and policy support needs for the CCUS industry. The research reveals that Europe and America emphasize national-level technological guidance and macro-control, focusing on the construction of regional industrial networks and having established a relatively complete legal and regulatory framework system. Compared to other countries, China needs to establish national-level guidance on CCUS development, regional carbon dioxide capture and transportation networks, and enact specific laws, regulations, and technical standards for CCUS.

Developing industry clusters based on 4As to support agritourism competitiveness

Abstract Competitive agritourism thrives on the pillars of the Attraction, Accessibility, Ancillary, and Amenity (4As), serving as fundamental cornerstones in tourism industry. Nonetheless, most agritourism continue to be entrenched in conventional management practices, exposing them to prevalent agricultural risks. Elevating this landscape necessitates a transformative approach. This article aims to analyze the linkages between the 4As and industry clusters in driving sustainable agritourism. The methodology used in this study is a literature review. Industry clusters in agritourism are important due to their ability to utilize shared inputs, optimize business processes through integration and collaboration, and develop outputs through network expansion. Cooperation, coordination, collaboration, and communication are essential for the successful development and competitiveness of agritourism. The arrangement of accommodation in a particular location encourages collaboration, resource sharing, and economies of scale. Increased accessibility improves supply chain management efficiency and reduces costs through collaboration. The availability of well-designed amenities further enhances the attractiveness and competitiveness of agritourism destinations. From the perspective of attractions, collaboration among agritourism contributes to innovation, product development, and sustainable practices. Understanding these linkages can inform strategic decision-making processes and guide the development of policies that leverage the strengths of the 4As to promote sustainable agritourism development.

СТАНДАРТИЗАЦІЯ ЛЛЯНОЇ СИРОВИНИ: ПОРІВНЯЛЬНИЙ АНАЛІЗ ДОСВІДУ США ТА УКРАЇНИ

The main problem in the primary processing of bast fiber raw materials is Ukraine's significant lag in the field of standardization compared to the USA, which negatively affects production efficiency, product quality, and competitiveness in the global market. The article aims to provide a comprehensive comparative analysis of flax raw material quality assessment systems in Ukraine and the USA, identify the key reasons for Ukraine's lag, and develop practical solutions to address these issues. The research found that while Ukraine still relies on outdated standards for flax fiber quality evaluation, which are primarily based on organoleptic methods and do not take into account modern requirements, the USA is actively developing and implementing innovative standards that regulate a wide range of quality indicators, such as fiber fineness, strength, color, shive content, and other important parameters. The main reasons for Ukraine's lag in the field of flax standardization include persistent economic difficulties, obsolete infrastructure and equipment, insufficient funding for scientific research, and weak integration with international standardization organizations. The authors propose a set of solutions to overcome these challenges, which involve increasing state support for the flax industry, intensifying research efforts aimed at developing new methods for assessing the quality of flax raw materials, harmonizing national standards with international ones, deepening international cooperation, and fostering the development of industry associations and clusters. The article emphasizes the necessity of introducing modern instrumental methods for assessing the quality of flax raw materials, such as spectrophotometry for color measurement, computer vision systems for analyzing fiber structure, and automated methods for determining fineness and shive content. The importance of developing standards for new and innovative flax products to expand the range, improve the competitiveness of domestic products, and enter promising markets is underlined.

Benchmarking of Management Excellence in The Agro-Industrial Sector in The Northwest Region of Romania

Industrial clusters nowadays represent a large part of the growth of SMEs (companies), jobs, and specialized regions. Regional growth is influenced by innovative clusters, which facilitate research, cost reduction, and new technical application. Clusters in the IT industry, renewable energy, furniture and agro-industry are popular in Romania's Northwest Region, with Cluj-Napoca being as the capital of gold clusters. The aim of the study was to examine the clustering strategy in Romania's northwestern region, Transylvanian Furniture Cluster, IT Transylvania Cluster, AgroTransilvania Cluster and TREC Transylvania Energy Cluster from the perspective of the Gold Label assessment. The study reveals that the four gold certified clusters share the following characteristics: a formal strategy, a specific strategy that addresses internationalization, innovation, research, development, and know-how, services primarily directed at members, international and transnational collaboration with multiple countries, and national and international funding support programs. The proposed recommendations and activities can contribute to improve each cluster's strategy.

Research on the Development Mechanism and Path of Wenzhou Digital Industrial Cluster Under the Background of Digital Economy

With the advent of the digital age and the development of artificial intelligence, digital economy has become the main economic form of today's society. In this context, the conditions for the development of digital industrial clusters have been formed, and industrial clusters have become an important support for the high-quality development of national and regional economies and an important factor affecting the international competitiveness of industries. The digital industrial cluster in Wenzhou area is also developing rapidly in recent years. Based on the analysis of the digital industrial cluster in Wenzhou area, this paper puts forward five key mechanisms for the development of the digital industrial cluster in Wenzhou, namely, the market mechanism and enterprise autonomy, the innovation-driven mechanism. Policy guidance and support, network and synergistic effect and talent attraction and training. The specific strategies to promote the development of Wenzhou digital industry cluster include strengthening infrastructure construction, optimizing innovation ecology, introducing and cultivating high-end talents, etc., hoping to provide reference for relevant workers.

This research examines the mapping of creative culinary industry clusters typical of Central Kalimantan in Palangka Raya City using Hierarchical Cluster Analysis. The main objective of this research is to identify clustering patterns of the local creative culinary industry which can be the basis for formulating local culinary optimization policies. By applying Hierarchical Cluster Analysis, this research succeeded in uncovering the characteristics and relationships between creative culinary industry players in Palangka Raya, as well as development potential that can be improved through appropriate policies. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide strategic recommendations for local governments and other stakeholders in designing and implementing policies that support the growth of the creative culinary industry, while promoting the richness of Central Kalimantan's unique culinary delights.

The article is devoted to the study of the current state of clusters, which are one of the most priority directions of the domestic industry development. The author substantiates the relevance of creating clusters in the Russian industry. The existing definitions of the term “cluster” offered in the existing scientific studies are investigated. The author analyzes the results of three cluster structures that unite high-tech industrial enterprises.

Purpose - The global trend of ESG has deepened. Accordingly, this study aims to explore several key elements of how Korea's Chungcheongbuk-do medical device industrial cluster can continue to strengthen its sustainable competitiveness by combining elements of ESG management in the mid- to long-term. Design/Methodology/Approach - This study uses the diamond model and existing literature to select important elements in a strategy for the sustainable growth of the medical device industry cluster. In addition, the AHP method was used to analyze the ranking and importance of important elements. Findings - Firstly, in the main items of the overall evaluation criteria, the ranking is as follows: Management environment-ESG, Factor conditions-ESG, Demand conditions-ESG, and Related and supporting fields-ESG. Secondly, in all the main individual detailed items, Importance was shown in the following order: Establishment of ESG governance, technology development supply, medical institution ESG demand, high-quality talent training, corporate ESG demand, and the construction of a convergence win-win platform. Therefore, a strategic focus should be placed on these sectors. Research Implications - This study integrated cluster, ecosystem innovation, medical device industry, ESG, and sustainable management with Porter’s diamond model. AHP analysis was also conducted for the mid- to long-term ESG strategy of the overall medical device cluster. Specifically, results showed that cooperation networks between industry, academia, research institutes, and hospitals were emphasized at the innovation ecosystem level. This will lead to the revitalization of related industries and contribute to sustainable regional innovation and economic growth.

How does digital trade impact urban carbon emissions efficiency? Evidence from China's cross-border e-commerce pilot zones

In the context of global warming and dynamically evolving economic circumstances, improving carbon emissions efficiency (CEE) has significant practical importance for addressing the dual challenges of economic development and the environmental protection in China. Currently, digital trade (DT) is a pivotal force driving CEE improvement in China; however, limited literature has explored the interconnection between these two elements. In this study, the application of the cross-border e-commerce pilot zone (CEPZ) policy serves as a quasi-natural experiment to analyze the impact of DT on CEE. The article implements a difference-in-differences approach with a panel dataset of 283 Chinese cities from 2005 to 2021. The results suggest that DT significantly contributes to enhancing CEE; a finding remains sound following several robustness tests like varying the sample size, dependent variables, and sample structure. The impact mechanism analysis reveals that DT has the potential to enhance urban CEE indirectly by influencing green technology innovation, industry clustering, and energy mix optimization. Heterogeneity tests indicate that DT may be more effective in fostering CEE in the eastern region, high-level cities, and nonresource-rich cities. Additionally, a noteworthy spatial spillover of DT extends to cities in close proximity to the pilot areas. The study's findings underscore the vital role of DT in improving CEE, providing empirical evidence to substantiate advocacy for sustainable economic development and the achievement of carbon peak and neutrality targets.

Fundamentals of the development of innovation and investment activities of small and medium-sized businesses in Kazakhstan

The article starts by highlighting the significance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Kazakhstan economy, emphasizing their role as drivers of innovation, job creation, and overall economic development. It discusses the challenges faced by SMEs in accessing finance, technology, and markets, which often hinder their ability to innovate and invest effectively. Moreover, the article delves into the regulatory and institutional frameworks governing SMEs in Kazakhstan, examining the policies and initiatives aimed at fostering a conductive environment for innovation and investment. It explores government support programs, tax incentives, and regulatory reforms designed to stimulate SME growth and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the paper explores the importance of fostering collaboration and partnerships between SMEs, larger enterprises, research institutions, and government agencies to promote innovation and investment. It discusses the role of industry clusters, innovation hubs, and incubators in facilitating knowledge exchange, networking, and access to resources for SMEs. The article also examines the role of education and skills development in enhancing the innovative capacity of SMEs in Kazakhstan. It highlights the need for targeted training programs, capacity–building initiatives, and entrepreneurship education to equip SMEs with the necessary skills and knowledge to innovate and compete in a globalized economy. Additionally, the article explores the potential of digitalization and technology adoption in driving innovation and investment among Kazakhstan SMEs. It discusses the opportunities presented by digital platforms, e–commerce, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain in enhancing SME productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness.

Pathways to Success: The Interplay of Industry and Venture Capital Clusters in Entrepreneurial Company Exits

This study investigates the dynamics within entrepreneurial ecosystems, focusing on the influence of venture capital (VC) financing clusters and industry clusters on startup success. VC financing clusters, geographic hubs with intense VC funding activities, and industry clusters, regions with concentrated sector-specific firms, are integral components. Expanding existing research that links proximity to these clusters with successful exits through mergers and acquisitions (M&A), our study includes initial public offerings (IPOs) as a vital exit strategy. Results show that affiliations with venture capitalists in prominent VC financing clusters enhance M&A and IPO success for startups. Intriguingly, startups in industry strongholds exhibit a greater likelihood of M&A success, but, this effect is not seen for IPO exits. Additionally, the absence of startup co-location with venture capitalists in VC financing hubs does not impact IPO exits but hinders M&A success. These nuanced insights highlight the complex relationships within entrepreneurial ecosystems and underscore the need for tailored perspectives considering diverse exit pathways.

Spatial Distribution Analysis of Urban Retail Industry Using POI Big Data

With the development of social economy, it is very important to identify urban functional areas and understand the spatial distribution characteristics of urban functional areas for urban scientific planning and government decision-making. Reasonable spatial distribution of urban retail industry is of great significance to promote urban economic development, optimize urban structure, and meet the consumption needs of urban residents. Based on the data of retail industry's POI, GDP, population and transportation in Nanning, China, this paper analyzes the spatial distribution characteristics and formation mechanism of different retail industry clusters in the city, and studies the spatial correlation between retail industry and population, economy, transportation, etc., using the methods of kernel density method, spatial correlation analysis, Getis-Ord G * index statistics, and average nearest neighbor distance. The results show that:(1)On the whole, the retail industry is concentrated in the central urban area of Nanning, spreading from the middle to the surrounding areas. (2)The retail hot spots have formed a multi-center development and surrounding spread pattern in spatial distribution. (3) The spatial distribution of the retail industry is highly related to the main traffic lines. At the same time, the concentration and distribution of the retail industry have a strong spatial correlation with the economy and population.

FUNDING AND OVERFUNDING PHENOMENA IN CROWDFUNDING: RELEVANCE OF PLATFORM CHOICE AND VARYING INDUSTRY DYNAMICS

This study provides new evidence on factors relevant for the success of crowdfunding campaigns run in Europe between 2015 and 2017 on the most popular crowdfunding platforms in Germany/Austria – Kickstarter.com and Startnext.com. In particular, for this study, a sample of 10,514 campaigns from Germany and Austria for the first time serves as a basis for identifying the determinants of the level of projects’ (over-)funding. For crowdfunding projects, an increase in a project’s funding goal results in higher funding on both platforms, but this does not guarantee success, i.e. reaching the relevant funding goal. Projects with a higher success probability show lower funding goals, especially if launched on Startnext.com. In contrast, a longer duration negligibly increases the amount raised on Startnext and slightly decreases on Kickstarter. On Startnext, projects from the Art cluster have a higher chance to succeed, while these from the Technology cluster show smaller success probabilities as they regularly get less funding. On Kickstarter, projects from the Art, Technology, or Lifestyle field reach higher financing as compared to the Sustainability area. We show that the uncertainty about market size and project/founder quality leads to diverging over- and underfunding levels across platforms and industry clusters, which is of core importance to interested stakeholder groups.

Collaborative development model and strategies of multi-energy industry clusters: Multi-indicators analysis affecting the development of coastal energy clusters

The paper explores Coastal Energy-Based Industrial Clusters (EBICs) and their role in advancing energy efficiency and sustainability through collaborative innovation. Economic growth theory and energy sustainability have been introduced into industrial clusters to illustrate indicators that have a greater impact on the development of EBICs. This paper proposes an EBICs development model based on the Cobb-Douglas function, in which accounts for various factors that drive the progress of such clusters. The outcomes of the economic model also provide insights into how the interaction of various factors affects the economic growth of EBICs and their eventual dominance in the energy market of coastal regions, dependent on gradually investing in areas such as research and development (R&D). Different development strategies demonstrate that the final development of a cluster has low dependence on the cluster's initial advantages. The study also illustrates how clusters can gradually monopolize the energy market, even with initial disadvantages. Through quantitative analysis, it showcases the transformation process of developing advantageous clusters into sub-clusters. Next, an energy symbiosis framework for coastal is proposed, which places greater emphasis on the multi-energy complementary system and reduces production costs. Finally, this paper also sheds light on shaping energy strategies for public authorities who shape economic policies at various levels of aggregation and in diverse dimensions.

Mapping out focus for circular economy business models (CEBMs) research in construction sector studies – a bibliometric approach

Purpose The circular economy business models (CEBMs) provide ways for firms operating in the construction industry to move from a linear to a circular approach. Thus, this study aims to explore CEBM research within the construction sector to show the focus area of studies, highlighting new areas that require attention. Design/methodology/approach This study adopted a bibliometric approach, using the Scopus database as the data source. The keywords used for paper extraction from the database were “circular economy business” OR “circular business” AND “model” OR “models” AND “construction industry” OR “building industry”. The VOSviewer software was then used to prepare a co-occurrence and co-authorship map based on the bibliographic data gathered. Findings The study’s findings reveal five research clusters in the construction industry. These clusters include circular construction intelligence, modular business modelling, eco-construction, sustainable construction economics and smart energy-efficient buildings. The two most cited scholars had two publications each, while the top journals are the Journal of Cleaner Production and Sustainable Production and Consumption. This study concludes that there is a need for research within the construction sector to focus on CEBMs’ archetypes and frameworks. This will enable a smooth transition from linear to circular business models in the sector. Research limitations/implications The information was gathered from a single database, Scopus; hence, using other databases, including Web of Science, Google Scholar and Dimensions, might produce more articles for examination and, consequently, different findings on the subject under investigation. Practical implications These findings would assist researchers in considering the areas mentioned, which are yet to receive attention, and, by extension, enhance economic development while maintaining environmental sustainability. Originality/value This paper made a significant contribution to the body of knowledge by identifying scholars and platforms that have been instrumental in advancing CEBM research and highlighting new areas that require attention in the construction sector.

Internal versus external agglomeration advantages in investment location choice: The role of global cities’ international connectivity

Global location choices for foreign direct investments by MNCs aim to benefit both from the advantages of collocation with other activities of the firm (internal agglomeration) and the advantages of proximity to local industry clusters of similar activities (external agglomeration). We submit that there are important trade-offs between internal and external agglomeration because internal knowledge transfer associated with collocation of various value-chain activities of the MNC is confronted with greater risk of knowledge spillovers to rival firms if there is a substantial local cluster. Moreover, we argue that the international connectivity of a location reduces the importance of local agglomeration as a driver of investment location decisions because connectivity allows the MNC to reap benefits from agglomeration at a distance through the (temporary) transfer of people and knowledge. Connectivity changes the trade-offs between internal and external agglomeration because it enhances the spatial reach of internal agglomeration more than external agglomeration. The influence of connectivity is greater for service-related value-chain activities than for production-related activities. We find support for these hypotheses in an analysis of 38,873 greenfield cross-border investment decisions across diverse value-chain activities and industries in 71 global cities, 2008–2016.

The coupling relationship between marine industry agglomeration and ecological environment system from the perspective of ecological environment

To analyze the coupling relationship in marine industry agglomeration and ecological environment system, this study used the formula of location entropy coefficient for measuring the development agglomeration status of marine industry. Meanwhile, it also separately measures the degree of agglomeration of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries in the ocean to reveal their degree of agglomeration in the region. In addition, a coupled correlation analysis model was designed. It uses grey relational analysis to reveal the relationships between data series in situations of insufficient data. Finally, a coupled coordination evaluation model was proposed. It evaluates the coupling status between the marine industry cluster and the ecological environment by calculating the capacity coupling coefficient, coupling degree, and coupling co scheduling. The results show that from 2013 to 2022, the agglomeration trend of the marine industry in Jiaodong Peninsula Province has undergone different changes. The location entropy coefficient of the primary industry increased from 1.3047 to 1.0987, while the location entropy coefficient of the secondary industry gradually increased from 0.2486 to 1.1141. The coupling coordination degree R between the marine industry agglomeration system and the ecological environment system has increased from 0.3986 to 0.6253. From 2018 to 2022, the coupling between the marine industry and ecological environment development has increased, gradually moving towards stability and coordination. This indicates that over the past decade, the development of the marine industry in Jiaodong Peninsula Province has placed greater emphasis on ecological protection, and has formed a positive interaction, promoting the coordinated development.

The Impact of Spatial Layout of Emerging Industry Clusters Development on Economic Structural Adjustment

This paper examines the impact of the spatial layout of emerging industry clusters on economic structural adjustment in China. By analyzing the geographical distribution, proximity to research institutions, and infrastructure development of these clusters, the study aims to understand their role in transforming China’s economic structure towards innovation-driven growth. The findings reveal that the spatial organization of industry clusters significantly influences regional economic development, industrial upgrading, and innovation capacity. Geographical concentration, connectivity, and proximity to knowledge sources are identified as key factors shaping the effectiveness of clusters. The paper concludes with policy implications, emphasizing the need for balanced regional development, enhanced connectivity, and strengthened innovation ecosystems to maximize the benefits of emerging industry clusters for China’s economic structural adjustment.
