Since industrial metal equipment is subjected to rigorous corrosion and wear, traditional inorganic coatings lack rapid self-healing to limit application. A chemically bonded phosphate ceramic (CBxPA) coating was successfully fabricated by two-component spraying, which exhibited significant corrosion protection and water-excited bulk self-healing ability. Results confirmed that MgKPO4·6H2O crystal stacking formed the denser and uniform coating, the unreacted ions were stored in the coating waiting for the water to excite to generate rapidly bulk self-healing “Whisker Clouds” layer at room temperature. The coating possessed a significant anti-corrosion self-healing efficiency value of 68.61 % in less than 36 h and showed rust-free after 500 h of exposure to a salt solution. Based on these observations, it provides a facile strategy to construct self-healing and anti-corrosion coating.
