Linguistic creativity in the school setting: A case study of Indonesian children’s verbal language play in an international elementary school

Preliminary development and validation of the Indonesian Pediatric Epilepsy Questionnaire (INA-PEPSI) to determine epilepsy and distinguish focal and generalized epilepsy in infants and children with unprovoked seizure in low-resource settings.

To outline the preliminary development and validation of a questionnaire for diagnosing epilepsy and distinguishing focal and generalized epilepsy among infants and children in Indonesia, where electroencephalography and pediatric neurologists are generally not available. A 10-question questionnaire comprising of 43 items was developed through literature review and expert panel discussions. Then, the questionnaire was administered by pediatricians to 75 children aged 1 month to 18 years old presenting with >1 episode of unprovoked seizures at an interval of >24 h. Subsequently, the questionnaire was assessed for content validity with item-level and scale-level content validity indices and ratio, construct validity with item-total correlation tests, criterion validity with diagnostic parameter assessments, and inter-rater reliability using Cohen's kappa (κ) and internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha (α) coefficient. The questionnaire exhibited favorable internal validity and reliability in diagnosing epilepsy and distinguishing focal and generalized epilepsy, with excellent content (both indices and ratio at 1) and construct validity (rcount > rtable at p < 0.001), inter-rater reliability (κ = 0.86 and κ = 0.84), and internal consistency (α = 0.634 and α = 0.806). The questionnaire had a sensitivity and specificity of 96.4% (95%CI 89.1-99.5%) and 95.0% (79.5-99.6%) (area under the curve [AUC] 0.946 [0.900-0.992, p < 0.001]) in diagnosing epilepsy and 80.0% (57.4-95.7%) and 97.4% (89.7-99.2%) (AUC 0.889 [0.783-0.995, p < 0.001]) in distinguishing focal and generalized epilepsy, with a misdiagnosis rate of 4.0%. The questionnaire shows promising potential in diagnosing epilepsy and distinguishing focal and generalized epilepsy. Further external validation studies in larger and more diverse populations are required to confirm our findings. The diagnosis of epilepsy in children is challenging, particularly in resource-limited settings such as Indonesia, where advanced diagnostic tests and pediatric neurologists are scarce. The Indonesian Pediatric Epilepsy Questionnaire (INA-PEPSI) is designed to address these limitations by enabling healthcare professionals in Indonesia to diagnose epilepsy and classify its types without relying on advanced diagnostic tools. Although the questionnaire is still in the early stages of development and validation, this study demonstrates that the questionnaire exhibits good overall diagnostic performance in diagnosing epilepsy and distinguishing epilepsy types among Indonesian children.

Children are a state asset in the future as a generation that will carry the fate of the Indonesian nation. To make the country better and more advanced, it is very necessary to protect Indonesian children from acts of violence and realize gender equality because to bring about a better nation, we need golden generations who are intelligent in knowledge and morals, but in reality, the number of acts of violence against children and the majority of victims being female is always increasing. The Surabaya city government is committed to collaborating with DP3APPKB in carrying out responsive prevention of acts of violence against women and children, through the RW Hall Learning Center which aims to expand services to prevent acts of violence through psycho-educational outreach and counseling in every smallest environment, namely every RW. The method used is qualitative and presented descriptively. The results of this research show that the level of community participation is the main requirement in implementing the vision and mission of the Puspaga Balai Rw program.

Improving the character of Indigenous children in natural schools by implementing play activities

By conducting this research, the aim is to observe and apply play activities to indigenous children in Jambi Indonesia to improve character. This research applies the quarsi experimental method with a sample of 16 indigenous Jambi Indonesian children with certain conditions. The instrument used to determine a child's character is using a questionnaire, which is the collection of data in the form of numbers or figures. Data were analyzed using quantitative t test statistics. The results of the research and data analysis show that the character of indigenous children who were given playing activities showed good results compared to before they were given playing activities with a mean of 185.75 and after being given playing activities it became 192.81 with an increase of 7.062. From these results it can be said that playing activities have a positive impact on the character of indigenous Jambi Indonesian children, with this improvement this will of course become a basis for future research. Manajemen Cuci Tangan Efektif Untuk Mencegah Penyakit Menular Pada Anak Usia Sekolah

Washing hands is one effort to break the chain of disease transmission to school-age children. So that school children can manage hand washing effectively. This will make it a routine habit taught as early as possible. There are many methods and ways of teaching by playing and exploring the environment around the school. Based on observations made, school children rarely wash their hands before eating food bought in the school canteen. This case study aims to implement effective hand-washing management to prevent infectious diseases in school-aged children. The service was carried out for school-age children at SD N 1 Layan, Tangse District, Pidie Regency with 72 students using a workshop method that included 6 effective hand-washing management steps. It is hoped that there will be an increase in the awareness of school children to be able to wash their hands to prevent infectious diseases and to improve the health status of Indonesian children

Peran Hukum Pidana dalam Pencegahan Kekerasan Seksual terhadap Anak: Tinjauan terhadap Kebijakan dan Implementasi di Indonesia

Children are important assets for the nation and state, especially the next generation. Every child has the same human rights as humans in general. Children's rights have been neatly regulated in positive legislation in Indonesia in the form of protection from various crimes so that their rights are not violated, considering that there are so many cases of crimes experienced by children, especially criminal acts of sexual abuse. The law is required to be able to pay special attention to the interests of children, in this case it can overcome acts of sexual violence that are experienced by many Indonesian children. The Sexual Violence Law No. 12 of 2022 is an addition to the new government regulations that need to be studied more deeply with the aim of helping to fight sexual crimes. This research discusses a deeper study of the role of criminal law in acts of sexual violence against children using normative juridical research with an approach to theories, concepts, legal principles, and legislation. The role of Criminal Law in preventing sexual violence covers several aspects, including protection from government agencies, criminal responsibility, and ensuring law enforcement.

Panjebar Selamat Magazine is a Javanese language magazine that provides various kinds of reading material, the contents of which contain character education values. Character education is the main thing, it is hoped that character education can become the most important foundation for Indonesian children to have good dignity. This research aims to explain the description and analyze the values ​​of character education in the children's discourse of Panjebar Spirit magazine. This research uses a sociological theoretical approach. The method used is qualitative descriptive analysis theory. The source of data used in this research is children's stories in the Panjebar Spirit magazine. The data used in this research are excerpts from children's stories in the Panjebar Spirit magazine. The instruments used were the researchers themselves and supporting instruments, namely the Panjebar Selamat magazine, books and stationery. Techniques for collecting data using reading, note-taking and describing techniques. The method of data analysis used in this research is by collecting data, classifying data, presenting data, and concluding data. The results of this research are independent character education, there are four parts, namely: hard work, creativity, discipline, and courage.

Pembuatan Nugget Tempe Dalam Pemenuhan Gizi Balita Cegah Stunting

Good nutrition is an important foundation for a child to grow and develop optimally, especially children who grow and develop in vulnerable environments. The results of the 2021 Nutritional Status survey show that 1:4 Indonesian children experience stunting and 1:10 children experience malnutrition. Prevention of stunting must be as early as possible, starting from portions of the plate with balanced nutritional content. Tempeh is a fermented product made from soybeans, the price is quite cheap, tempeh is also the best source of energy and protein, tempeh contains prebiotics which are good for the intestines, low in sodium and carbohydrates. 84 grams of tempeh contains 162 calories, 15 grams of protein, 9 grams of carbohydrates, 9 milligrams of sodium and many others. Efforts can be made to increase the knowledge and skills of cadre mothers and mothers of toddlers by conducting counseling, demonstrations and simulating tempe food. This dedication has a positive effect on knowledge, skills and ideas in making a variety of healthy snacks. The aim of this community service is so that mothers of babies and toddlers know and understand that tempeh food can be processed into various healthy snack ingredients to prevent stunting. The method of implementing activities in general includes the stages of introduction, counseling, demonstration and evaluation. It is hoped that in the future, cadre mothers and the community, especially mothers who have babies and toddlers in RW03 RT02, Kualu Village, Tambang Kampar District, will be more creative in making preparations made from tempeh that are rich in nutrients in an effort to prevent stunting and more often seek the latest information about nutrition in the reproductive cycle.

Regular Consumption of Fortified Growing-up Milk Attenuates Upper Respiratory Tract Infection among Young Children in Indonesia: A Retrospective Cohort Study

Introduction A Growing-up Milk (GUM) supplemented with short-chain Galacto-oligosaccharides (scGOS), long-chain Fructo-oligosaccharides (lcFOS), and omega-3 Long-chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (n-3 LCPUFAs) could support the development of the immune system to prevent the Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI) and associated morbidities. It is of interest to assess whether a daily consumption of scGOS/lcFOS/n-3 LCPUFAs-fortified GUM for a minimum of 6 months reduces URTI incidences within the subsequent 3 months among young children in Indonesia. Methods A total of 154 children aged 18 to 36 months were recruited in this retrospective cohort study and categorized into exposed and non-exposed groups (78 and 76 children, respectively). A guided interview was conducted with each subject’s parent. Demographic and clinical information was collected, including incidence of URTI within the past three months, duration of URTI, as well as the frequency of medical visits when contracting URTI. The bivariate analysis via chi-square test as well as the multivariate analysis via binary logistic regression were performed. Results The overall characteristics were similar between groups with certain distinctions. The bivariate analysis indicated the exposed group to have better protection against URTI within the past 3 months as compared to the non-exposed group (RR=0.62; 95% CI=0.41-0.92; P&lt;0.05). The multivariate analysis reinforced the finding by reporting that the exposed group was indeed protected against URTI (adjusted RR=0.42; 95% CI=0.21-0.85; P&lt;0.05). Conclusion A routine consumption of scGOS/lcFOS/n-3 LCPUFAs-fortified GUM for a minimum of 6 months among Indonesian young children protected against URTI up to 58%, suggesting that fortified GUM consumption supports proper development of the immune system.

Effects of Formula-100 therapeutic milk and Bregas Nutriroll ready-to-use therapeutic food on Indonesian children with severe acute malnutrition: A randomized controlled trial study.

Severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is a global health concern that affects children and leads to delayed growth. The aim of this study was to compare the impact of F100 milk and Bregas Nutriroll, a local ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF), on SAM children. An unmasked, non-blinded, two-group, and simple randomized controlled trial was conducted. Indonesian children aged 12-59 months with SAM were randomly assigned to receive either F100 milk or Bregas Nutriroll. After eight weeks, the increase in the mean weight gain in both groups was assessed. The Bregas Nutriroll group (n=19) had a mean weight gain of 1.07±0.09 kg, while the F100 group (n=17) had a mean weight gain of 1.05±0.11 kg. The Bregas Nutriroll group had a slightly higher gain of mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) than the F100 group (0.62±0.34 cm vs 0.50±0.37 cm). The gain of children's height of the Bregas Nutriroll group was 0.96±0.42 cm, while the F100 group was shorter at a mean of 0.81±0.44 cm. Statistically significant differences (p<0.001) in nutritional status were observed based on weight, MUAC, and height/length after F100 and Bregas Nutriroll interventions. The intervention with F100 increased hemoglobin (Hb) levels of 0.71±1.25 mg/dL, while the Bregas Nutriroll intervention led to an increase of 0.11±1.39 mg/dL. In conclusion, our study showed that community-based treatment with F100 milk or Bregas Nutriroll resulted in nutritional status in children with SAM. These findings suggested that both treatments could be effective in treating SAM in improving nutritional status and child health outcomes.

Polygamy Law Reform Through the Development of the Aceh Qanun: A New Approach to Protecting the Rights of Women and Children in Indonesia

Aiming to legalize the practice of polygamy through the Raqan regulation, which is then outlined in the family Qanun, it needs to have restrictions on practicing polygamy, such as the concept of justice and sanctions for abuse committed by a husband. The purpose is to protect women as human beings whose rights must be protected along with the obligations and be executed. Then, the research aimed to analyze the construction of Islamic law reform in the family sector, especially in protecting the position of women and children in the context of the structure of the legal order and the occurrence of polygamy without the permission of the Mahkamah Syar’iyah in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. The research was qualitative using non-doctrinal juridical or sociological methods to reform the legal order of polygamy in Raqan using studies of legal order theory, al-hudud (legal boundaries), and al-mashlahah, using a historical approach and a legal philosophy approach. The findings showed that the idea of a legal order for polygamy in the family law community in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam is the implementation of the idea of legal governance between compliance with Sharia and state law perfectly through raqan renewal. Legal reform is an illustration and parameter in implementing polygamy to realize benefits for individuals and society. And, protect the position of women and children who have not been accommodated in marriage law, so that they can live a harmonious life.

Songs can be a means of communication that singers and songwriters want to convey to listeners about what they feel. In songs, there are song lyrics which are part of literary works which contain outpourings of personal feelings, emotions, and expressions of soul experiences in the form of an arrangement of words. One of them is the song lyrics on the album Naura &amp; Genk Juara. The lyrics on the album contain many implied meanings, so analysis is needed using Schleimacher's Hermeneutics theory which is used to understand the meaning of the song from the psychology of the song writer. The aim of the research is to describe, analyze and interpret the psychology of the song lyrics on the album Naura &amp; Genk Juara. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques include (1) listening to the song carefully, (2) noting the song lyrics carefully, (3) understanding the psychological aspects of the song. Data analysis uses Schleirmacher's hermeneutical approach. The results of the research show that Schleilmacher's psychological interpretation on the album song Naura &amp; Genk Juara describes enthusiasm and never giving up on being a champion, parents' anxiety about their children, preserving nature, annoyance with friends, motivation for having dreams, regrets for children who don't listen to their parents' advice, optimism about being a winner, and friendship. At the psychological interpretation stage, it can be seen that the lyrics he wrote were created from phenomena that were occurring at that time, many Indonesian children were not mentally strong enough to face challenges in achieving their dreams, so lyrics emerged that provided motivation, besides that, many Indonesian children who do not want to listen to advice from their parents, causing regret.

The Exploration of Nusantara’s Local Wisdom Through Bahasa Indonesia Untuk Kita (Bikta) for Diaspora Children at the Indonesian Embassy in Doha Qatar

This study explores the initial abilities of BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers) students and the BIPA learning process with Nusantara’s local wisdom in the BIKTA program for diaspora children at the Indonesian Embassy in Doha, Qatar. This research has an urgency in exploring Nusantara’s local wisdom through BIPA learning. This is based on the concern that the diaspora of Indonesian children in Qatar has minimal knowledge of Indonesian culture. Through this research, it is hoped that it can contribute to developing Indonesian insights through exploration of Nusantara’s local wisdom through BIPA learning. The method in this study uses qualitative research. Research data collection was carried out by observation, questionnaires, and FGDs for teachers and program administrators. The research results on the initial abilities of BIPA students at the Indonesian Embassy in Doha are quite varied and divided at the BIPA I, BIPA II, and BIPA III levels. The BIPA learning process explores local wisdom including traditional musical instruments, national songs, Indonesian folklore and legends, food, and Indonesian tourism.

Right to education for children of Indonesian migrant workers living in plantations in Sabah – understanding the gaps

PurposeThe study aims to address the educations needs of Indonesian children living in plantations in Sabah and provide recommendations to the relevant stakeholders. Data was collected between January and March 2023 to identify and address the issues in relation to providing education for children living on plantations in Sabah. Specifically, children of Indonesian migrant workers.Design/methodology/approachThe research was both a doctrinal and qualitative study that encompassed in-depth interviews with migrant workers of Indonesian nationality who have children living with them in palm oil plantations in Sabah and local managers of the plantations. Data was collected from the commissioning plantation, where the children have yet to go to school and two other plantations with school-going children. The doctrinal component involved the analysis on international and domestic laws.FindingsThrough the research, ways of enrolling migrant children in schools were determined including within neighbouring plantations, impacting the lives of children residing in the commissioning estate.Research limitations/implicationsThe research was fraught with difficulties. Gaining the trust of palm oil plantation owners was key and this took some time. Time in essence was a limitation as time taken for interviews is time taken away from the migrant workers employment.Practical implicationsThe commissioning estate has already secured the provision of education for the children of the estate. The research is impactful as it has facilitated this development.Social implicationsThe hope is that more estates will allow for academic researchers to come in and provide systematic and constructive feedback on how things could be improved for children living in plantations.Originality/valueGaining trust and garnering data not only from migrant workers but also the managers provide novelty in the research. The views of the management side of things have not always been successfully acquired in the past.

Health habbit development (healthy living habits) is healthy behavior that is carried out repeatedly without going through a thought process because this behavior is a response to something that is generally an everyday action. The aim of developing healthy habits is to improve the quality of life and individual well-being through implementing a healthy lifestyle. This coaching covers various aspects, such as a balanced diet, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, stress management and personal hygiene. This research examines how health habits are fostered at the Vania Anak Indonesia Orphanage Jln. Captain M. Jamil Lubis, Medan Estate, Deli Serdang, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra 20371. The aim of this research is to find out what the healthy living habits of orphanage children at the Indonesian Vania Anak Orphanage are. This research uses a qualitative approach and a case study type of research. The subjects of the research were orphanage managers. This research data was collected using observation, interview and documentation techniques. Data is processed by data reduction, data presentation, as well as conclusions and verification. The results of the research show that the implementation of healthy living habits in Indonesian children's orphanages has not been implemented well, therefore the research team was present to provide guidance on health habits (Healthy Living Habits).

PENGARUH EDUKASI 1000 HPK MELALUI MEDIA AUDIO-VISUAL TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN IBU HAMIL

The ongoing nutritional issue and challenge for Indonesia today is stunting. Stunting refers to the condition of malnutrition in toddlers which results in inhibited growth, thereby preventing the child from reaching optimal growth and development, as well as experiencing a decrease in cognitive abilities. Generally, stunting is caused by prolonged insufficient nutrient intake, as well as inadequate caregiving from pregnancy to the first 1000 days after birth. Despite the government implementing policies to reduce the stunting rate, the decrease in stunting rates in Indonesia is still far from the set target. In 2012, the Indonesian government participated in the First 1000 Days of Life Movement aimed at improving the quality of life for Indonesian children in the future by focusing on the first 1000 days of a child's life. This research aims to determine the Influence of HPK 1000 Education Through Audio-Visual Media on the Knowledge of Pregnant Women in Cikakak Village, Wangon II Health Center. This study used pre-experimental research, with a one-group pretest-posttest design evaluation through pretest-posttest. The research sample consisted of 23 pregnant women who were given treatment in the form of 1000 HPK socialization using audio-visual media. The Wilcoxon test results obtained a p-value (0.000) no more than 0.05 indicating that there is a difference in knowledge about 1000 HPK in pregnant women before and after being given educational intervention using audio-visual media. A recommendation that can be given is that in health promotion programs, especially 1000 HPK, there needs to be the use of audio-visual media.

The Effect of Crossword Media Counseling on the Knowledge of Class X Students in Kota Padang About Obesity and Body Weight

Obesity and overweight have rapidly grown as a public health problem worldwide, including in Indonesia. The prevalence of overweight and obesity among Indonesian children and adolescents has also increased significantly in recent years (Maulina, 2022). This suggests that better interventions and prevention are needed to address this issue, especially for students (Susanti &amp; Legal and Public Relations Working Team, 2019). All countries, including Indonesia, face the problem of being overweight, or overweight, and overweight, or obesity. Based on data from the Global Nutrition Report, 10% of the adult population in Indonesia is overweight, and 2% is obese (WHO, 2007). Therefore, this study aims to fill the knowledge gap by investigating the effect of counseling using crossword media on students' knowledge and attitudes about overweight and obesity. This study involved 48 grade X students who were overweight or obese. The sample was drawn from the entire overweight and obese population. Results showed that grade X students in Padang City had significant knowledge about overweight and obesity before and after counseling without using crossword media (p=0.000). In addition, there was a significant difference between students' knowledge on this topic before and after counseling using crossword media (p=0.000). According to the study, the use of crossword media has a significant effect on increasing students' knowledge. Therefore, it is recommended that students continue to use this media in instructional or learning activities at school.
