Does the Development of Digital Inclusive Finance Promote the Construction of Digital Villages?—An Empirical Study Based on the Chinese Experience

The degree of the effect of digital inclusive finance on the construction of China’s digital villages and the mechanism of action is investigated in this study by matching the digital inclusive finance index in accordance with a data sample of China’s provincial digital villages from 2013 to 2020. As indicated by the result of this study, first, the development of digital inclusive finance positively expedites the development of digital villages. Second, geographical and dimensional differences exist when digital inclusive finance boosts the construction of digital villages. Third, digital inclusive finance is capable of facilitating the construction of digital villages by deepening technological innovation and communication infrastructure construction and further enhancing the digital literacy of residents. Fourth, a positive moderating effect of internal conditions of rural residents’ consumption and external conditions of financial regulation is reported when digital inclusive finance promotes digital rural development. Based on the above-mentioned findings, the following policy recommendations are presented to advance digital countryside construction in depth. First, following the goal of building Chinese modernization, differentiated policies, with regional resource endowments, social conditions, and rural characteristics considered, should be implemented in accordance with local conditions. Second, the digitalization process in rural areas should be vigorously boosted, and it is imperative to optimize and upgrade mobile communication infrastructure, with the aim of injecting new momentum into China’s digital countryside construction. Third, investment in scientific and technological research and development funds and high-level innovative talents should be increased to endow digital technology with better independent innovation capacity and facilitate the level of innovation. Fourth, investment in education should be increased to enhance the digital literacy of urban and rural residents.

Effects of the digital economy on carbon emissions in China: an analysis based on different innovation paths.

As the digital economy grows rapidly around the world, how would it impact carbon emissions? This paper discusses this issue from the perspective of heterogeneous innovation. Based on the panel data of 284 cities in China from 2011 to 2020, this paper empirically examines the impact of the digital economy on carbon emissions as well as the mediating and threshold effects of different innovation modes. The study finds that the digital economy can significantly reduce carbon emissions; this conclusion holds after a series of robustness tests. Independent innovation and imitative innovation are important channels through which the digital economy affects carbon emissions, but technological introduction is not an effective way. For regions with high levels of financial investment in science and innovative talents, the reduction in carbon emissions from the digital economy is more significant. Further research shows that the effect of the digital economy on carbon emissions has a threshold feature, with an inverted U-shaped relationship between the two, and that an increase in autonomous innovation and imitation innovation can enhance the digital economy's carbon reduction effect. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of independent innovation and imitation innovation to exploit the carbon-cutting effect of the digital economy.

R&D investment, financing constraints and corporate financial performance: Empirical evidence from China

Enterprises are a deeply significant pillar of social and economic development. The excellent economic interests of enterprises play an essential role in promoting social and economic development. Business is a major innovation force in improving a country’s independent innovation capacity, which in turn is a key factor in shaping its core competitiveness. As the fuel of technological innovation for enterprises, Research and development (R&D) can accelerate their development and enhance their competitiveness. By using Chinese A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2019 as a sample, this study attempts to examine the specific impact of R&D investment by Chinese companies on corporate performance. Key to the development of R&D activities, R&D investment is directly related to the source of funding, the quality of financing channels and the extent of financing restrictions. The current study explains why enterprise innovation cannot be separated from the input and support of capital, technology, professional talent and other factors from the perspective of enterprise financing constraints. By using Chinese A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2019 as a sample, the study not only examined the impact of R&D investment on corporate performance, but also considered specific mediating mechanisms and heterogeneity analysis of R&D investment on corporate performance. Finally, the study found a significant positive correlation between R&D investment and the performance of listed companies, and this positive correlation was more pronounced when funding constraints were lower. According to the study, mediation effect analysis shows that R&D investment can improve corporate performance by boosting total factor productivity. Additional research has also shown that higher levels of internal control quality can improve the boosting effect of R&D investment on corporate performance. Moreover, R&D investment by SOEs is more conducive to improving the performance of their enterprises than that of non-SOE enterprises. In addition, this study provides empirical evidence of the knowledge effect and positive externality of R&D investment for firms, examines the impact of R&D investment on corporate performance from the perspective of financing constraints, and enriches the related literature on R&D investment, financing constraints and corporate performance.

Policy incentives, R&D investment, and the energy intensity of China’s manufacturing sector

The Chinese strategic plan “Made in China (2025)” aims at improving the independent innovation capacity of the manufacturing industry. It also commits to constructing green manufacturing systems through cleaner production and green technologies. The Chinese government provides research and development (R&D) preferential policies to promote the realization of these aims. Using the two-stage least square (2SLS) method, this paper tests the impact of R&D capital and its spillover on the energy intensity of the Chinese manufacturing industry. It also evaluates the effectiveness of R&D policy in promoting R&D investment at the industry level. The findings show that R&D capital is positively linked to the reduction of energy intensity, and heterogeneity exists in the relationship between energy intensity and R&D capital across industries. This study finds that in general, R&D subsidies and tax relief do not significantly promote R&D investment, but R&D subsidies generate a significantly positive effect on the R&D intensity in the high-tech industries.

Development Strategies for China’s Advanced Fiber Materials Industry

China’s chemical fiber volume ranks first in the world and is a pillar industry of the national economy. However, there are still prominent problems regarding the development of the chemical fiber industry and promoting the advanced fundamental fiber materials has become the key to the high-quality development of the chemical fiber and textile industries. This study focuses on three types of advanced fiber materials: differential fiber, high-performance fiber, and bio-based fiber. The status, challenges, and development trends of the advanced fiber materials in China are analyzed. On this basis, the key tasks for the future development of the advanced fiber materials are summarized, including developing key technologies to form representative products, improving the intelligent manufacturing level, strengthening the independent innovation capacity, and enhancing the training of scientific and technological talents. This study also proposes development suggestions from the aspects of industrial development strategy, scientific and technological innovation system, the role of science and technology, internationalization of key enterprises, and coordinated development, hoping to provide a theoretical reference for the high-quality development of China’s fiber materials industry.

The Effect of Governance Quality on Economic Growth: Based on China’s Provincial Panel Data

This paper investigates the impact of governance quality on economic growth in China. After developing a theoretical framework for the effect of governance quality on local economic growth, this article studies the panel data in provincial regions over the period 2001–2015 by constructing a new comprehensive index of provincial governance, and checks the robustness of the empirical findings from four aspects. The results show that governance quality has a positive effect on economic growth, due to good governance strengthening the “helping hand” or weakening the “grabbing hand” of power. Governance quality presents diminishing marginal returns, which means that the high-speed economic growth effect becomes less and less, while the high-quality economic development effect becomes more and more. Higher governance quality could bring a high-speed economic growth effect in the western region, while higher governance quality could bring a high-quality economic development effect in the eastern region. Compared with fixed-asset investment, human capital has played a more important role in economic growth. In order to promote the sustainable development of China’s economy, policy makers should improve local governance quality, strengthen the capacity of independent innovation, and promote the accumulation of high-quality human capital.

Research on Optimization Model of Marine Industry Strategic Adjustment Under Complex Maritime Conditions Based on Ant Colony Algorithm

Abstract This article seeks to analyze the factors constraining the development of strategic marine emerging industries and the deficiencies in China’s strategic marine emerging industry development policies. Learn from the successful experiences of overseas strategic marine emerging industry development policies. We will study and construct a policy framework for the development of strategic marine emerging industries in the new era, guided by the scientific concept of development and enhanced by the capacity of independent innovation. Provide policy recommendations for actively promoting the development of strategic marine emerging industries. At the same time, it provides theoretical and methodological reference for the formulation and implementation of China’s strategic marine emerging industry policies. On the basis of reviewing relevant theories of industrial policy, this article first defines China’s strategic emerging industries and clarifies the connotation of China’s strategic marine emerging industry development policies. Then, the paper conducts detailed analysis on the development policies of strategic marine emerging industries at home and abroad, and summarizes the experience of overseas strategic development policies for marine emerging industries. Finally, combining the above-mentioned comprehensive analysis, with the guidance of the scientific concept of development, the development strategy and concrete development policy of China’s strategic emerging industries in the ocean are proposed.

The green efficiency of industrial sectors in China: A comparative analysis based on sectoral and supply-chain quantifications

Industry is a main energy consumer and environmental polluter in modern society. The performance of China’s industrial development should therefore be integratively measured in economic, environmental as well as energy and resource contexts. This study employs the directional slacks-based inefficiency model to calculate sectoral and supply-chain green efficiency (SGE and SCGE respectively) of 37 industry sectors in China. Energy and water consumption are selected as the model inputs. Output considerations include value-added (desirable output), and SO2, NOx and CO2 emissions (undesirable outputs). Sectoral statistics data are used to calculate SGE while an input-output (I-O) analysis model, using China’s 2012 economy benchmark data, is employed to quantify SCGE. Furthermore, the sectors that significantly contribute indirect energy consumption to China’s industrial system are identified, and determinants of their SCGE are analyzed using the Tobit model. Results show that light industrial sectors present higher SGE but lower SCGE compared to that of heavy industrial sectors. Environmental regulation and independent innovation capacity promote industrial sectors’ SCGE, while capital-labor ratio and foreign direct investment exert inhibiting effects. Based on model results, policy suggestions are presented to advance green industry transition in China.

Study on Evaluation of Technological SMEs’ Independent Innovation Capacity Based on the Interval Grey Uncertain Linguistic Variables

In this paper, we investigate the multiple attributes group decision making (MAGDM) problems in which attribute values take the form of interval grey uncertain linguistic variables. Firstly, we develop the interval grey uncertain linguistic variables weighted geometric (IGULWG) operator, the interval grey uncertain linguistic variables ordered weighted geometric (IGULOWG) operator and the induced interval grey uncertain linguistic variables ordered weighted geometric (I-IGULOWG) operator and study some desirable properties of the I-IGULOWG operator. Furthermore, we apply the I-IGULOWG operator and the IGULWG operator to the group decision making with interval grey uncertain linguistic information. Finally, an illustrative example for evaluating the technological SMEs’ independent innovation capacity with interval grey uncertain linguistic information is given to verify the developed approach and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness.

Study on Development Strategies of Chinese Equipment Manufacturing Industry

The achievement, which Chinese Equipment Manufacturing Industry had accomplished in the ten years after China accessed the World Trade Organization, is first analyzed through the production scale, the export trade, the industry structure and the comprehensive strength and so on in the paper. The problems, which exist in the products, the production capacity, the independent innovation capacity, the production means and the internal and external environment of Chinese Equipment Manufacturing Industry, are pointed out. Some suggestion on the future development strategy is last put forward.

Environment Protection with Analysis of Relations between Independent Innovation and Development of the Green Economy

Independent innovation and the green economy is the two power of environment protection.In this article ,by analyzing meaning of independent innovation and green economy from environmental perspective, thus demonstrating dialectical interaction between them, then preparing context diagram about their relationship. Then discussing the existing problems of the independent innovation and the green economy development, such as: insufficient incentives for the development of green economy in independent innovation, insufficient supply capacity of independent innovation in green economy, promoting greening independent innovation slowly in traditional industries. Finally putting forward suggestions from the perspective of environment protection, such as: using national independent innovation as the keynote to overall green economic development, using industrial independent innovation as the bridge to construct green economic development, green incentive System of industrial independent innovation.

Principal Points for Promoting the Sustainable Development in the Mountain Regions of China: Taking Fujian Province as an Example

Case study of Fujian province is used to illustrate the problems of undeveloped economic , the urban and rural disparities, economic development clash with resources and environment, less capacity of independent innovation in the mountain regions of China from the view of the sustainable development. There are a lot of difficulties in solving these problems. Based on the regional condition, the ways to promote the sustainable development are analyzed from four principal points, including prospering mountainous areas, shorten the urban and rural disparities enhancing the performance of resources and environment and promoting the supporting capacity of independent innovation. These ways will promote the sustainable development of the economy in the mountain regions of China.

Research on the Synergistic Mechanism of Corporations’ Independent Innovation Dynamic System

According to relevant theories and practices, one of the important approaches for improving corporation’s independent innovation capacity of China is to promote and strengthen the synergetic effect of independent innovation dynamic. In this study, the dynamic system of corporation’s independent innovation was constructed through field investigation of the corporations on the basis of careful summarization and objective evaluation of the technical innovation dynamic theories at home and abroad; the synergetic mechanism of dynamic system of corporation’s independent innovation was researched into by employing synergetic theories; and the countermeasures for safeguarding the synergetic functioning of dynamic system of corporation’s independent innovation in China were put forward according to this synergetic mechanism.

Study on the Influence Factors of High-Tech Enterprise Credit Risk: Empirical Evidence from China's Listed Companies

Taking 187 high-tech listed companies in China as samples, using the Cox model, an empirical test on the influence factors of high-tech enterprise credit risk is carried out. The empirical results show that, the financial situation has significant effect on credit risk of high-tech enterprise, especially the current ratio, accounts receivable turnover, total assets turnover ratio, return on equity, etc; and also the independent innovation capacity has significant effect on credit risk of high-tech enterprise, the stronger the independent innovation capacity is, the lower high-tech enterprise credit risk becomes. However, the influence of regional factor on credit risk of high-tech enterprise is relatively limited, the influence of growing factor is not obvious, as well as enterprise scale, and the influence of industry factor should be further examined. Particularly, this paper provides evidence that there is a significant negative correlation between independent innovation capacity and credit risk of high-tech enterprise; this will contribute to financial institutions to increase the credit support for independent innovation.

Constructing the Sustainable Operation Mechanism of School-Enterprise Training Mode in China

The school-enterprise cooperation is an important way to train highly-skilled personnel, improve independent innovation capacity. This paper based on the research of the current school-enterprise cooperation mode and its obstacles, analysing the operation mechanism of this mode, and thus proposing a rational choice of sustainable operational mechanism for building a school-enterprise cooperation mode of training high-skilled talents.

Evaluation on Independent Innovation Ability of High-Tech Industry Based on Rough Set and Projection Pursuit Model

It is important to evaluate the independent innovation capacity of high-tech industry scientifically, which could accelerate high-tech industry to become the main body of regional economy. In this paper the evaluation indicators of the independent innovation capacity of high-tech industry are reduced with the distinction matrix algorithm of the attribute reduction based on rough set theory. And then, projection pursuit model method based on genetic algorithms is used to get the synthetic evaluation. High-tech industry of Henan province as a specific example is given according to the evaluation index system with 4 primary indicators and 12 secondary indicators for independent innovation capability. It is proved that the evaluation method is feasible and effective.
