Combination of graphene plasmons and surface plasmons in a crystalline Ge2Sb1.5Bi0.5Te5 metasurface structure for laser mode-locking

Owing to the dynamic tunability and strong confinement, graphene plasmons (GPs) have emerged as an excellent candidate for the manipulation of light–matter interaction. Surface plasmons (SPs) have been admitted as another effective way allowing strong confinement of light at the nanoscale. The combination of GPs and SPs like localized surface plasmons (LSPs) and propagating surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) will lead to a synergistic effect that could remarkably improve light–matter interactions, showing great potential for many applications for the improvement of solar cell efficiency, biosensor sensitivity, and the performance of photonic devices. In this study, the GPs were activated by placing graphene film onto a two-dimensional (2D) phase-changing crystalline Ge2Sb1.5Bi0.5Te5 (cGSBT) nanograting structure, which also acts as an original source generating LSPs. The SPPs originated by laying the above structure onto an Au mirror. The combined effects of GPs, LSPs, and SPPs are epitomized in such a simple Gr/2D cGSBT gratings/Au heterostructure, which allows easy realization of an ultrafast mode-locked laser quite stable working at 1550 nm range due to the strong nonlinear optical absorption capability. This approach overcomes the heat and energy loss in metallic gratings or a Gr-based heterostructure, exhibiting great potential for applications in the design and fabrication of photonic devices.

Study on Water Distribution Depending on the Cathode Gas Diffusion Layer in PEFC

In polymer electrolyte fuel cells(PEFCs), the gas diffusion layers(GDLs) are critical in providing effective pathways for reactant gases from flow field channels to the catalyst layer surface. Moreover, these layers are crucial in managing the expulsion of water, ensuring optimal cell performance by maintaining the necessary hydration levels and preventing flooding of the catalyst layer. This dual functionality underscores the significance of GDLs in enhancing the overall efficiency and durability of PEFCs. This study investigated the water distribution within PEFC using two different types of GDL(Sigracet 39 AA and 39 BB, SGL Carbon Co.) with distinct characteristics. Utilizing a non-contact laser absorption spectroscopy detector(dew point measurement, HS-1000), we conducted in-situ measurements of water distribution under various experimental conditions. The results demonstrate variations in hydration levels, which are associated with the porosity and material composition of the GDL. Understanding of water management will improve cell efficiency and facilitate the development of effective GDL designs.

Thickness and Doping Density Influence of a High-Voltage Inorganic Perovskite Solar Cell: A SCAPS 1-D Simulation Study

Recently, all inorganic perovskite solar cells have triggered great attention thanks to the rising performance during their development in solid state photovoltaics showing enhanced characteristics, such as: good stability, high photoluminescence quantum yield, tunable size, and morphology. In this work, a high open-circuit voltage solar cell based on all-inorganic perovskite through SCAPS simulator program is presented by analysing electron transport layer (ETL), perovskite layer, hole transport layer (HTL) thickness and doping density from a FTO/TiO2/CsPbBr3/Spiro-OMeTAD/Au structure were modified to observe its influence on solar cell performance. Therefore, simulation results show that a thicker ETL hinders carrier transport towards the FTO layer due to larger distance which leads to higher recombination rate, reducing carrier’s lifetime. Albeit high doping density values in ETL enhances the overall solar cell performance. As for the absorber layer, while its thickness increases, carrier collection rate decreases due to recombination impacting Voc, which results from thickness increase. Based on the results, solar cell efficiency improvement is attributed to the built-in electric field as absorber layer doping density increases. While HTL thickness has minimum impact on the solar cell output, doping density enhances device parameters significantly. Summarising the results obtained from thickness and doping density simulations, the optimal solar cell operation was obtained at 10 nm, 600 nm, and 100 nm layer thickness as well as 1020 cm-3, 1016 cm-3, and 1020 cm-3 doping density (TiO2, CsPbBr3 and Spiro-OMeTAD). Results from three different sources, collected from literature, were used to compare, and fitting them along with simulation results.

Numerical analysis on performance evaluation of photovoltaic thermal systems using ternary hybrid nanofluids and forced convection around copper cylinders

This study evaluates the performance of a photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) system using forced convection and ternary hybrid nanofluids, comprising water with cobalt, zinc, and silver. The PV/T system includes a glass absorber, polycrystalline silicon, and a flow channel with eight copper cylinders, positioned at 20 %, 40 %, 60 %, and 80 % along the channel, both above and below the flow path for optimal thermal conductivity. The working fluid is modeled under turbulent, steady-state conditions using the κ−ε turbulence model.Numerical simulations via COMSOL Multiphysics 6.0 evaluate the system's thermal and fluid dynamics, focusing on local Nusselt numbers and photovoltaic cell thermal efficiency compared to a baseline. The investigation spans Reynolds numbers from 10,000 to 100,000, nanoparticle volume fractions of 1 %–20 %, and aspect ratios of 0.1–0.3. The aspect ratio in this study is defined as the ratio of the height of a square obstacle within the flow channel to the total height of the flow channel. A supervised machine learning framework develops predictive regression models for system analysis. Results show fluid force at the outlet increases by about 1200 % and 1300 % for aspect ratios of 0.1 and 0.3 as the Reynolds number rises. The Nusselt number enhances by 420 % and 466 % at a 20 % nanoparticle volume fraction for aspect ratios of 0.1 and 0.3, respectively, with a 9 % improvement in photovoltaic cell efficiency. This work uniquely applies machine learning to derive regression equations for fluid force, Nusselt number, and electrical efficiency, an approach not previously explored in laminar flow studies.

Enhancing Multi-Junction Solar Cell Performance: Advanced Predictive Modeling and Cutting-Edge CIGS Integration Techniques

Historically, multi-junction solar cells have evolved to capture a broader spectrum of sunlight, significantly enhancing efficiency beyond conventional solar technologies. In this study, we utilized Silvaco TCAD tools to optimize a five-junction solar cell composed of AlInP, AlGaInP, AlGaInAs, GaInP, GaAs, InGaAs, and Ge, drawing on advancements documented in the literature. Our research focused on optimizing these cells through sophisticated statistical modeling and material innovation, particularly examining the relationship between layer thickness and electrical yield under one sun illumination. Employing III-V tandem solar cells, renowned for their superior efficiency in converting sunlight to electricity, we applied advanced statistical models to a reference solar cell configured with predefined layer thicknesses. Our analysis revealed significant positive correlations between layer thickness and electrical performance, with correlation coefficients (R2 values) impressively ranging from 0.86 to 0.96 across different regions. This detailed statistical insight led to an improvement in overall cell efficiency to 44.2. A key innovation in our approach was replacing the traditional germanium (Ge) substrate with Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS), known for its adjustable bandgap and superior absorption of long-wavelength photons. This strategic modification not only broadened the absorption spectrum but also elevated the overall cell efficiency to 47%. Additionally, the optimization process involved simulations using predictive profilers and Silvaco Atlas tools, which systematically assessed various configurations for their spectral absorption and current–voltage characteristics, further enhancing the cell’s performance. These findings underscore the critical role of precise material engineering and sophisticated statistical analyses in advancing solar cell technology, setting new efficiency benchmarks, and driving further developments in the field.

Porosity and permeability optimization of PEMFC cathode gas diffusion layer based on topology algorithm

The gas diffusion layer (GDL) is a crucial component in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), significantly affecting mass transport and overall cell performance. Due to the pronounced pressure gradients and uneven mass transfer between the inlet and outlet of the serpentine flow field, this study proposes the design of a GDL with a concentration gradient to optimize performance. Leveraging topological optimization algorithms, the research focuses on enhancing the mass transport properties and improving cell efficiency. The optimization process considers the pressure distribution, oxygen concentration, and water content within the serpentine flow field as boundary conditions. By optimizing the porosity and permeability of the GDL in different regions, the study aims to enhance the GDL's mass transport capabilities. Simulation results demonstrate that initializing the porosity at 1 provides superior optimization, significantly enhancing mass transfer and overall cell performance. Although increased permeability contributes to improved mass transport, its impact is less significant compared to porosity optimization. Therefore, GDL porosity is identified as the dominant factor in enhancing cell performance, while permeability adjustments play a secondary role.

Natural dyes (Tithonia diversifolia, Tagetes minuta and Bidens pilosa) sensitized solar cells with reduced graphene based electrodes

The search for suitable alternatives to non-renewable polluting energy sources is a continuous and an active undertaking. There is particular focus towards production of low cost, eco-friendly and more efficient dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Natural dyes DSSCs have the capability of generating green energy at low production cost and hence become a promising class of photovoltaic cells. However, there are inherent problems encountered by the conventional DSSCs including photoanode and cathode related problems such as high cost and electron-hole recombination resulting in a low rate of photoelectric conversion efficiency. In this work, organic dyes from Tithonia diversifolia, Tagetes minuta and Bidens pilosa were used as sensitizers as replacement of synthetic dyes of the conventional DSSCs. The study in addition sought to replace conventional photoanode and cathodes with rGO-TiO2 photo anode and rGO counter electrode. The Tithonia diversifolia has one absorption peak at 665 nm indicating the presence of chlorophyll dye while Tagetes minuta has absorbption peaks at 534 nm suggestive of anthocyanin dye (a flavonoid), 607 nm and 660 nm confirming the presence of chlorophyll a dyes while Bidens pilosa has an absorption peak at 665 nm which again suggests the presence of chlorophyll dye. The tendency of the three natural dyes to absorb in the regions above 650 nm indicates their usefulness for use as dyes for DSSC. The I-V curves of the fabricated natural DSSCs show that when TiO2 is used as the photo anode, Tithonia diversifolia registered a higher efficiency of 0.18 % while Tagetes minuta had the lowest efficiency of 0.08 %. When rGO is incorporated in the TiO2 photo anode, there is an improvement in the solar cell efficiency for all the fabricated DSSCs with Tithonia diversifolia having the highest at 1.56 %. Thus incorporating rGO in the TiO2 photo anode greatly improved the power conversion efficiency of the DSSC. Tithonia diversifolia dye had the highest efficiency which may be attributed to the concentration of the chlorophyll dye.

Q.ANTUM NEO with LECO Exceeding 25.5 % cell Efficiency

In recent years, we have developed the Q.ANTUM NEO solar cell, a rear-passivated double-sided contact solar cell that achieves power conversion efficiencies exceeding 25.5 %. Our streamlined and cost-efficient process leverages the proprietary Laser Enhanced Contact Optimization (LECO) technology. The LECO process has undergone extensive optimization and has been successfully implemented in both our pilot line and mass production facilities, resulting in significant improvements in solar cell efficiency. LECO facilitates a novel formation of the contact interface between the silicon surface and metallization, leading to remarkably low j0,met values (as low as 160 fA cm−2). The contact resistivity of 20 μm wide contacts on a high sheet resistance emitter is below 1 mΩ cm2, with minimal impact on fill factor (FF) and overall cell efficiency. Rigorous reliability tests, including TC600 and DH3000, demonstrate module degradation well below 5%rel. Our champion cell conversion efficiency achieved in the pilot line using LECO technology reaches 25.6 %, accompanied by a notable open-circuit voltage exceeding 730 mV.

Unlocking the Potential of Kesterite Solar Cells: Quantum Confinement Structures to Pave the Way for High‐Performance Photovoltaic Technologies

Advancements in solar cell research are constantly pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency and sustainability. Kesterite materials have gained attention for their positive environmental impact and are being considered as promising candidate for renewable energy. These materials show potential for improving efficiency through creative structural modifications. Quantum well (QW) solar cells, utilizing kesterite materials, provide a combination of high efficiency, cost‐effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. These materials have a wide range of applications, from residential and commercial solar panels to portable and flexible devices, building‐integrated photovoltaics, off‐grid systems, and even space applications. This study investigates the improvement of solar cell efficiency by incorporating kesterite‐based nanostructures with quantum confinement technology. The key aspects of the analysis are measure performance of solar cell with variation in S/Se mole fraction of CZTSSe absorber layer. The special care is given to analyze behavior of QW structures with CZTSSe as the well material. Additionally, the study is expanded to an analysis of broad range of mole fraction variation in CZTSSe. Finally, the structure is optimized by adjusting the well width. Moreover, a remarkable efficiency of 31.33% is achieved with well width of 20 nm and the mole fraction of 0.8. This finding highlights the importance of customizing composition and nanostructure in solar cell design to improve efficiency and push forward renewable energy technologies.

Improved preparation of AgNW film and its application in flexible counter electrodes of dye-sensitized and perovskite solar cells

Silver nanowire (AgNW) has been wildly used to prepare flexible conducting substrate of electronic and optoelectronic devices. By coating a layer of carbon onto a polymer/AgNW substrate, a counter electrode (CE) was obtained and it offers the advantages of high flexibility, light weight, low cost, simple fabrication, and operating efficiently in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and perovskite solar cells (PSCs). By modifying the traditional unidirectional roll-coating process of AgNW to cross-directional coating, the morphology and distribution of the AgNW network was improved, which led to increased transmittance and electroconductivity, and subsequently improved cell efficiency of DSSCs and PSCs. The performance of the CEs and solar cells was further promoted by optimized fabrication process of the carbon layer. The as-prepared flexible CEs achieved great enhancement of cell efficiencies, and maximum power conversion efficiencies of 5.17% and 14.32% were obtained by DSSCs and PSCs, respectively.

Organic solar cell efficiency improvement through architecture engineering by integrating carbon nanoring – SCAPS 1D modelling

This research work aims to investigate on improving the performance of organic solar cells (OSC) by proposing new architectures that progressively integrate carbon nanotubes. This contribution takes into account the exceptional properties of carbon nanotubes (CNT) highlighted in recent work, with the aim of addressing the current challenges of materials used in the manufacture of conventional OSCs, such as reactivity with the ambient medium, stability over time, better transport of charge carriers, etc. Using a reference OSC cell with the following structure: PEDOT/BHJ/PDINO and the numerical one-dimensional simulation tool SCAPS, which helps in validating the modelling approach, we gradually replace each layer with a CNT-based material exhibiting superior properties. In this respect, we carry out calculations on the different cells architectures, to better visualize energy-level alignment profiles, the different current-voltage (J-V), and quantum efficiency (QE) characteristics. Approaches toward efficiency improvement were discussed, by investigating the effects of active layer thickness, the doping level, the charge carriers mobility, defect density, and external parameters such as temperature. After numerous calculations and modelling, very promising results were finally achieved with a full CNT-based solar structure with the following recorded performances: VOC=0.87V, JSC=27.81mA/cm2, FF=80.91%, and PCE=19.63%. These results are the first theoretical report for a complete CNT-based modelled OSC and, given the reliability and robustness of the approach adopted, they can be considered as relevant for future theoretical and experimental work. The integration of CNT as functional layers is a remarkable step forward in OSC architectures engineering for efficiency enhancement. CNT are good candidates for light harvesting applications.

Thermal management of ultra high concentrator photovoltaic cells: Analysing the impact of sintered porous media microchannel heat sinks

Implementing advanced cooling strategies is essential to maintaining recommended operation conditions, enhancing energy efficiency, and extending the reliability of ultra-high concentrator photovoltaics. This study introduces a new application of sintered porous media as an effective and superior thermal management solution for ultra-high concentrator photovoltaic systems. Furthermore, predictive models for thermal and electrical performance are developed.A comprehensive three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics model was developed and verified against experimental work reported to investigate the performance of a novel sintered porous media for thermal management in ultra-high concentrator photovoltaics. Furthermore, the response surface methodology coupled with analysis of variance was used to analyze and comprehensively optimize the thermal management system. The main objective is to develop a predictive model for such systems equipped with a porous cooling system that predicts performance with a concentration ratio of up to 20000 Suns. Predictive models were formulated to outline the relationships between various independent variables: Reynolds number, concentration ratio, direct normal irradiance, wind speed, optical efficiency, fluid inlet temperature, and dependent performance metrics.This study highlights the effectiveness of sintered porous media in heat dissipation and efficiency enhancement in ultra-high concentrator photovoltaics thermal management. The results demonstrate that using sintered porous media compared to conventional channel heatsinks significantly enhances cell thermal management. Specifically, this approach reduces cell temperature by 15.3%, 8.97%, and 2% at concentration ratios of 20000, 10000, and 2000, respectively. Concurrently, implementing the new sintered porous media heatsink improves cell efficiency by 3.1%, 1.5%, and 0.3% for the same respective concentration ratio values.

Coordinated optimization of methanol utilization and in-situ cracking reforming in proton-conductive solid oxide fuel cells

Proton-conductor solid oxide fuel cells (PC–SOFCs) have demonstrated innovative capabilities in energy applications, particularly for the efficient transformation of biomass fuels into hydrogen for power generation. Methanol, a readily available and economical biomass fuel with a high hydrogen content, has shown significant potential for waste utilization and energy recovery. Consequently, this study employed methanol as a fuel for PC-SOFCs and investigated the optimal operating conditions through meticulously designed experiments. This study also enhanced the cell performance through the co-reforming of steam and methanol, demonstrating that the introduction of steam during the methanol-reforming process significantly improved cell efficiency. At a 30 % methanol fuel concentration and a 700 °C operating temperature, co-reforming increased the maximum power density (MPD) from 0.269 to 0.352 W cm−2. Additionally, integrating Ru-GDC nanofiber catalysts into the anodic dendritic microchannels enabled the creation of an in-situ catalytic cracking reactor, further boosting MPD to 0.412 W cm−2. The catalyst-equipped cell demonstrated stable operation for continuous 102 h at a current density of 0.6 A cm−2, with no performance decline, thereby confirming the exceptional long-term stability of the system.

Renewable energy storage using hydrogen produced from seawater membrane-less electrolysis powered by triboelectric nanogenerators

Utilization of widely available seawater for hydrogen generation using robust electrolysis methods can provide sustainable solutions to energy carriers. Sea waves at the same time provide abundant renewable energy that can produce the electricity required for seawater electrolysis. This work presents a novel design for a self-powered hydrogen generation based on membrane-less seawater electrolysis integrated with spring-assisted spherical triboelectric nanogenerators. To streamline fabrication and minimize maintenance expenses, water electrolysis is conducted in a membrane-less electrochemical cell reactor. Employing a mathematical model, the system's performance is analyzed across different catalysts, electrolytes, and operational temperatures. The modeling outcomes indicate that elevating the cell's temperature can lower the necessary potential, enhancing overall electrochemical cell efficiency and decreasing capacitor charging duration. The voltage required for the cell to reach 100 mA cm−2 in the seawater decreases from 2.4 V to 1.9 V as the cell temperature increase from 25 °C to 70 °C. This is due to the decline in the hydrogen and oxygen evolution reaction overpotentials for NPNNS and Ti supported PtPd from 351 mV to 246 mV and 568 mV–394 mV, respectively. Furthermore, increase in the temperature results in an additional 19 % improvement in cell efficiency from 78 % to 97 % and producing hydrogen per cycle during electrolysis of seawater increase from 0.015 μmole to 0.020 μmole.

The performance of floating Photovoltaic system over a small pond in Jakarta.

It is recognized that photovoltaic (PV) cells exhibit a drawback when subjected to significant temperature increases. This paper presents an initial study of the performance of Floating PV (FPV) over a pond, encompassing the effect of the PV panel’s surface temperature on the variation of the PV cell efficiency. To facilitate this study, an experimental study was conducted. The experiment deployed four monocrystalline PV panels with a maximum power output (Pmax) of 100 Watts for each panel. These four panels were divided into two sets that each set contain two PV panels. The first set was installed over a small pond with an area of 24 m2 and a depth of 1.2 m, while the other set was placed over a concrete surface with the same area size. The steps of the experiment study were as follows: (1) to measure the PV panel’s surface temperature of the two sets, and (2) to calculate the operating PV cell efficiency using an energy balance equation. The measurement of the PV panel’s temperature was taken hourly from 08.00 AM to 04.00 PM on clear and cloudy day. The data on rainy day was excluded. The study was conducted in an urban area of Jakarta, where the average ambient temperature ranges between 25°C and 30°C. The experimental site conditions are relatively clear, only several trees located on the south of the area. The results indicated that pond has a significant effect on the reduction of the PV panel’s surface temperature as compared to the PV set over the concrete surface. The average temperature reduction is around 3.5°C on a clear day, whereas the maximum reduction is 7.8°C, when the irradiance level rises to around 1000 W/m2. Indeed, the observed improvement of the PV cell efficiency was approximately 3.9% at the highest and in average was around 2%.

Silicon solar cell efficiency improvement employing electrostatically assembled polyelectrolyte–quantum dot multilayers

Down-shifting (DS) has proven to be an effective technique to address thermalization losses in photovoltaic devices. It involves the modification of the incident solar spectrum by luminescent species to better suit solar cell’s optimal absorption regions. Despite the number of favorable characteristics of quantum dots (QDs) as DS materials, their incorporation into highly ordered close-packed films remains the major drawback of QD-based DS applications. This limitation can be overcome by the sequential integration of QDs into a multilayered film via the layer-by-layer assembly technique, that allows the precise control of composition and thickness. The experimental results discussed herein indicate that upon optimization employing a model-assisted design approach, the spectral response of a silicon solar cell benefits from the down-shifting and antireflection capabilities of the QD film, as evinced by their quantum efficiency. For the optimum design, the incorporation of QDs triggered an increment of 26.1% in the power conversion efficiency driven by an increase of 29.2% in the short circuit current density. The controlled assembly of QD multilayers offers unique opportunities in light harvesting for new hybrid photovoltaic technologies.

A novel multi-channel porous structure facilitating mass transport towards highly efficient alkaline water electrolysis

An advantageous porous architecture of electrodes is pivotal in significantly enhancing alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) efficiency by optimizing the mass transport mechanisms. This effect becomes even more pronounced when aiming to achieve elevated current densities. Herein, we employed a rapid and scalable laser texturing process to craft novel multi-channel porous electrodes. Particularly, the obtained electrodes exhibit the lowest Tafel slope of 79 mV dec−1 (HER) and 49 mV dec−1 (OER). As anticipated, the alkaline electrolyzer (AEL) cell incorporating multi-channel porous electrodes (NP-LT30) exhibited a remarkable improvement in cell efficiency, with voltage drops (from 2.28 to 1.97 V) exceeding 300 mV under 1 A cm−1, compared to conventional perforated Ni plate electrodes. This enhancement mainly stemmed from the employed multi-channel porous structure, facilitating mass transport and bubble dynamics through an innovative convection mode, surpassing the traditional convection mode. Furthermore, the NP-LT30-based AEL cell demonstrated exceptional durability for 300 h under 1.0 A cm−2. This study underscores the capability of the novel multi-channel porous electrodes to expedite mass transport in practical AWE applications.

Transient Photocurrents and Defect States in Hierarchically Structured ZnO Nanowires

ZnO‐nanostructured thin films can be used as electron transport layers in ordered heterojunction quantum‐dot solar cells. An increased interface between electron and hole‐transporting layers allows for a fast separation of the electron–hole pairs preventing their recombination. Consequently, an improvement of the overall solar cell efficiency is expected. ZnO hierarchical nanorod thin films can provide the desired increase in interface area. In this work, their properties are studied and compared with simple ZnO nanorod films. The ZnO nanorod films are synthesized hydrothermally by placing the quartz/indium‐tin‐oxide substrates in a solution of zinc nitrate hexahydrate and sodium hydroxide at 90 °C. Hierarchical structures are obtained through a second deposition step. Scanning electron microscopy is used to characterize the size and shape of the nanorods. Simple ZnO films display hexagonal nanorods with a diameter of around 150 nm while hierarchical films show additional 40 nm diameter nanorods growing on the side surfaces of the primary 150 nm nanorods. Optical transmittance spectroscopy reveals a bandgap around 3.35 eV. Current–voltage measurements in the high‐field regime of 104 V cm−1 are used to determine the density of trap states Nt through the application of trap‐filled limit current theory.

Gold nanostructures/quantum dots for the enhanced efficiency of organic solar cells.

Incorporating gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) into organic solar cell (OSC) structures provides an effective means to manipulate light-matter interactions. AuNPs have been used as plasmonic-enhancement and light-trapping materials in OSCs and exhibit diverse single and mixed morphologies. Substantial near-field enhancement from metal periodic structures has consistently demonstrated high enhancement in solar cell efficiency. Additionally, coupling with atomic gold clusters in the form of gold quantum dots holds promise for light harvesting through fluorescence phenomena. The configured devices optimize light utilization in OSCs by considering factors such as the morphology, position, and hybridization of localized surface plasmon resonance, propagating surface plasmon resonance, and fluorescence phenomena. This optimization enhances light absorption, scattering, and efficient trapping facilitated by gold nanostructures/quantum dots. The configured setup exhibits multiple effects, concurrently improving plasmonic and fluorescence responses under solar irradiation, thereby enhancing energy conversion performance. Integrating plasmonic nanostructures with OSCs can address fundamental issues, providing opportunities to enhance the light-absorption intensity and charge transfer efficiency at intra and intermolecular levels. This comprehensive review demonstrates that the greatest improvement in solar cell efficiency exceeded 30% compared with the reference cells.
