In this study, LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 was synthesized from various raw materials, including NiO, Ni 2 O 3 , MnO 2 , and Mn 3 O 4 . An improved solid-phase synthesis method was then used to reduce impurities through uniform mixing via bead milling and to achieve a consistent secondary particle shape and distribution through spray drying. The LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 was obtained by selecting materials optimized for rate capability and by applying an improved synthesis process. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analyses confirmed that LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 successfully synthesized primary and secondary particles. This result showed that LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 , when subjected to an improved solid-phase synthesis, reduces production costs ,enhances its commercial value, and can be applied to lithium-ion secondary batteries to achieve high energy density and high voltage. In short, LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 can be used as an efficient energy storage material.

Improved Solid-Phase Synthesis of Phosphorylated Cellulose Microsphere Adsorbents for Highly Effective Pb2+ Removal from Water: Batch and Fixed-Bed Column Performance and Adsorption Mechanism

A highly effective adsorbent with phosphate groups bound to cellulose microspheres was designed by an improved solid-phase modification method to adsorb lead ions from water by a batch and fixed-bed column method. The phosphorylated cellulose microsphere adsorbents were prepared through esterification by which phosphate groups were introduced to the interface of regenerated cellulose microspheres which were previously prepared through a sol–gel transition process from a simple cellulose solution. Their morphological, structural, and physicochemical properties were characterized by SEM, FTIR, XRD, and DSC, etc. Furthermore, EDX and XPS were used to confirm the chemical modification process and to investigate their phosphate adsorption mechanism. Improved solid-phase synthesis and study of arylopeptoids with conformation-directing side chains

The development of an improved methodology for iterative solid-phase synthesis of para- and meta-arylopeptoids (oligomeric N-substituted aminomethyl benzamides) using benzoyl chloride building blocks is described. This methodology has enabled the synthesis of arylopeptoids with tert-butyl and phenyl side chains, which allows for complete control over the amide conformation: the tert-butyl results in a 100% cis amide conformation while the phenyl side chain results in a 100% trans amide conformation. The method has furthermore enabled the first synthesis and preliminary conformational studies of arylopeptoids bearing (S)-N-(1-phenylethyl) side chains.

Deglycobleomycin: solid-phase synthesis and DNA cleavage by the resin-bound ligand.

The resin-bound deglycobleomycin could be completely deblocked and assayed for DNA plasmid relaxation, sequence-selective DNA cleavage, and light production from a molecular beacon.

An improved synthesis of a selective α vβ 3-integrin antagonist cyclo(-RGDfK-)

The cyclic pentapeptide cyclo(-Arg-Gly-Asp- d-Phe-Lys-) is a highly potent and selective inhibitor for the α vβ 3 integrin. A related compound, cyclo(-Arg-Gly-Asp- d-Phe-Val-), is a promising anticancer drug candidate; it inhibits angiogenesis and induces apoptosis in vascular cells. We have developed an improved solid-phase synthesis based on Kessler's procedure to afford cyclo(-RGDfK-) peptide in high purity and high yield in a multi-gram scale. This improved synthesis is environmentally friendly and may be generally applicable to other related cyclic peptide syntheses.

An improved solid-phase synthesis of resonance energy transfer fluorescent peptides and depsipeptides employing the EDANS/DABCYL donor-acceptor pair

Fluorescent peptide substrates of the resonance energy transfer type, employing thedonor–acceptor pair 5-[(2′-aminoethyl)amino]naphthalene sulphonic acid(EDANS) and 4-[[4′-(dimethylamino)phenyl]azo]benzoic acid (DABCYL), are widelyused for continuous monitoring of the activity of various proteases. We describe here aflexible synthetic scheme which allows the synthesis of peptides having EDANS andDABCYL in any position of the sequence; the synthesis is entirely performed on solid phasewith standard methods and makes use only of EDANS, DABCYL and commercially availableamino acid derivatives. Moreover, we show that our scheme can be equally applied to thesynthesis of EDANS/DABCYL-derivatised depsipeptides.

A p-methylbenzhydrylamine resin for improved solid-phase synthesis of peptide amides

A p-methylbenzhydrylamine-resin, alpha-(p-tolyl)-amino-aminomethyl-functionalized copoly(styrene-1%-dvinylbenzene), was prepared for the improved solid-phase synthesis of peptide alpha-carboxamides. Following a Friedel-Crafts acylation of polymer beads, the resulting ketone resin was reductively aminated via the Leuckart reaction. A comparison of the relative acid stability of the p-methylbenzhydrylamine-(MBHA)-, benzhydrylamine (BHA)- and alpha-phenyethylamine-resins indicated that the p-methylbenzhydrylamine-resin provided the best yields of the model peptide carboxamides.

Abstract An improved method has been described for the solid-phase synthesis of tryptophan-containing peptides. Hydrogen chloride in formic acid has been introduced as a reagent for the cleavage of the t-butyloxycarbonyl group owing to the stableness of tryptophan and Ni-formyltryptophan in this system. The effectiveness of the new reagent has been demonstrated in the synthesis of the tryptophan-containing heptapeptide, lysylalanylglycyl-leucylglycyltryptophylleucine.
