Mathematical Modeling of Creativity Practices and Innovation for Facilitating Technological Advancement of Small Businesses in Agro-Allied Sector in Nigeria

Innovation and creativity are important factors for Sustainable development in advancing technology, be it at country or organizational level. The study seeks to formulate a mathematical model that can facilitate technological advancement among agro-allied small businesses in South- South Nigeria. OBRAZOVANJE, ISTRAŽIVANJE I ODRŽIVO UPRAVLJANJE ŠUMSKIM RESURSIMA KAO FAKTOR ODRŽIVOG RAZVOJA U BOSNI I HERCEGOVINI / EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT AS A FACTOR OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

The sustainable forest management concept contains the essence of the sustainable development paradigm - meeting the current needs of society without compromising the needs of future generations. The strategic commitment of the Faculty of Forestry University of Sarajevo is aimed at quality education of forestry experts, conducting innovative research and the most intensive cooperation with the economy. The methodological approach in this paper is based on a critical analysis of the scope of the educational-research process at the Faculty of Forestry University of Sarajevo, and the potentials of sustainable forest management in BiH, to determine to what extent higher education and research on environmental, sociological and economic aspects of forest management can affect positive changes in BiH society. Apart from identifying the benefits of forest ecosystems in the context of contributing to sustainable development, the research on the attitudes of teaching staff related to the contribution of the educational-research process to general goals of sustainable development from the 2030 Agenda was conducted. The results of this paper show that the concept of sustainable forest management, as it is realized in educational-research process at the Faculty of Forestry University of Sarajevo, has significant potential to contribute to sustainable development in BiH. This contribution is reflected in biodiversity conservation, mitigation of climate change, carbon storage, prevention of natural disasters, impact on the stability of water and soil, energy supply from renewable sources, continuous economic growth, socially responsible production and consumption, job security, development of rural and urban areas as well as maintaining and improving the psychophysical health of the population. Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that sustainable forest management, grounded on scientific postulates, understanding of diversity of forest ecosystem services and dynamics in society's requirements towards forests, multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral cooperation, can be an important factor of sustainable development in BiH.

Pro-Environmental Behavior and Household Waste Sorting in Kazakhstan: an Empirical Analysis

Climate change, deterioration of nature, pollution - all these have led to the fact that ecological behaviour has become a necessity for the conservation of nature and its resources. Pro-environmental behaviour is one of the most important factors for sustainable development. Thus, from year to year, pro-environmental behaviour becomes an important subject of discussion for many scientists and government bodies. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of pro-environmental behaviour among the population in household waste sorting and to identify the state of development of infrastructure for the disposal of household waste in the settlements of Kazakhstan. The methodology includes an Internet survey, which was conducted among the population of Kazakhstan aged 18 years and older. The survey involved 2264 respondents. Research results show that 3 out of 5 hypotheses that we assumed turned out to be positive. Thus, statistical analyses showed the following results: Pro-environmental behaviour and waste management mostly depend on - 1) the gender of the respondents, 2) the level of education of the respondents, and 3) the type of settlements of the respondents. Also, the sorting of household waste has a negative connection with the age and marital status of the respondents. Based on these results, it can be assumed that pro-environmental behaviour can be affected by gender, level of education, and the type of settlement. Policymakers should pay attention and give support at all levels like infrastructure, education, etc.

Development of Grey Machine Learning Models for Forecasting of Energy Consumption, Carbon Emission and Energy Generation for the Sustainable Development of Society

Energy is an important denominator for evaluating the development of any country. Energy consumption, energy production and steps towards obtaining green energy are important factors for sustainable development. With the advent of forecasting technologies, these factors can be accessed earlier, and the planning path for sustainable development can be chalked out. Forecasting technologies pertaining to grey systems are in the spotlight due to the fact that they do not require many data points. In this work, an optimized model with grey machine learning architecture of a polynomial realization was employed to predict power generation, power consumption and CO2 emissions. A nonlinear kernel was taken and optimized with a recently published algorithm, the augmented crow search algorithm (ACSA), for prediction. It was found that as compared to conventional grey models, the proposed framework yields better results in terms of accuracy.

Scientific activity of students as an important factor of sustainable development in the scientific and social spheres

For sustainable development in various fields, highly qualified personnel are required. One of the ways to train such personnel is to involve young people in scientific activities while studying at the university. The author asks questions: how do students of psychological specialties perceive scientific activities, what emotional states arise in students when thinking about scientific activities or directly in the process of doing it. The introduction contains researches devoted to students' research activities; author presents his own model. The section "Methods" describes the sample: 73 students of psychological specialties; the author's questionnaire is given. The section "Results" reveals the students' opinion on how scientific activity can be included in various types of student activity, students' perception of scientific activity and their emotional states when thinking about it. The most frequently chosen emotional states are: interest and inspiration. The section "Discussion " contains the results obtained by other researchers. The author offers practical steps to popularize scientific activity at the university and introduce students to it. In conclusion, it is concluded that some university students have a superficial knowledge of research activities. Some students who would potentially like to start doing research don’t do it.

Stimulation of Innovation Activities in Service Areas

First of all, I would like to note that the realization of huge opportunities in the service sector makes them an important and intensively growing sector of the economy in the current conditions of agriculture. Representing an extremely important element and driving force of the world economic system, increasing opportunities for structuring social and economic development, the service sphere has become one of the strongest developing sectors of the economy, and currently contributes significantly to the creation of the country’s GDP and the income of the population. Increasing its role in the local economy is a necessary priority of national development, a factor of maintaining the political and economic stability of the state in market conditions. A significant part of the service area is tourism, which is considered one of the largest, highly profitable and extremely dynamic sectors of the economy. Acting as an important factor of sustainable development and a business area against the background of globalization and activation of integration processes, tourism activity is formed by a set of numerous complex problematic reasons and management mechanisms and undergoes transformation in interaction.

Digital technologies as a factor of effective and sustainable development of society

The article considers some directions of the use of digital technologies in public life. It is emphasized that in modern conditions they become an important factor in sustainable development. Information technology ensures the implementation of the principle of information openness (transparency), which affects the nature of relations between different subjects of law. Attention is drawn to the positive and negative aspects of the introduction of digital technologies, including personal data protection, the right to decent work and productive employment. Proposals for further development of Belarusian legislation and law enforcement practice are made.

The UN recognizes Green Growth and Green Economy as important factors for sustainable development. The Government of Georgia considers the Green Economy as one of the main means of the future development of the country and announces an initiative to implement voluntary measures to promote sustainable development. In this regard, it is essential to promote the ecosystem services, clean production, environmental education and green jobs. Green Economy and Green Growth require the involvement of the whole community. The transition to environmentally friendly activities is not carried out rapidly as Green Growth is a versatile and complex issue and requires a certain level of public awareness together with other factors. In recent years, the awareness of the population of different countries has shown a growing interest towards the problem of damaging the nature caused by the production, exploitation and utilization of various goods. From an ecological point of view, change of structures of irrational production and consumption will become one of the strategic directions of social development. However, the focus on eco-friendly production must be strengthened by recognizing its profitability and enabling the enterprise to receive both direct financial benefits - through the reduction of raw material costs, waste recycling, insurance and liability, and indirect ones - through more efficient environmental marketing and public opinion. Green marketing strategies are expensive and complicated and its successful implementation requires a lot of effort. Firms with green strategies can make a profit if they are able to attain the desired target positions in the minds of consumers towards the green brand in the market. Those green strategies tend to become more successful which are oriented on association, more credibility, enhanced perception of brand quality and brand loyalty among the target groups. It is no coincidence that the effects of these four communications (i.e., brand associations, credibility (or trust), quality, and loyalty) represent the customer-based brand equity.

Göl ve Barajların Güneş Enerji Santrali Olarak Kullanım Potansiyelinin İncelenmesi Yamula Barajı Örneği

The increase in energy consumption causes a negative impact on the environment. The most important factor in sustainable development is the widespread use of renewable energy. The transition to renewable energy sources in the energy sector has started to be implemented in different fields. Electricity is produced by installing floating solar power plants (SPP) on the water surfaces of seas, lakes and dams. There is no floating SPP installation in our country yet, and it has been seen that there is a need for experimental and scientific studies in this field. With this study, it is aimed to determine the floating SPP potential that can be installed on the water surface of the Yamula Dam, which produces hydroelectricity in the industrial city of Kayseri. The Global Solar Atlas (GSA) simulation program was used to determine the potential power of floating SPP and the electricity production, and the RETScreen Program was used for the greenhouse gas emission analysis. The case of installing floating solar power plants in 10% of the minimum water level area of Yamula Dam has been investigated. In the simulation, it has been determined that the total installed power potential of the floating SPP to be installed on Yamula Dam will be 626.6 MW. In addition, it has been determined that the floating SPP will produce a total of 872.3 GWh of electricity per year with this power.

Evaluation of Oil and Gas Economy using Economics Profit Indicators and Prototype Macro VBA Excel

The oil and gas sector is an important factor in sustainable development, so it is considered necessary to make serious changes in conducting economic analysis on the oil and gas business. Oil and gas industry activities consist of upstream activities, and downstream activities. Activities in these upstream and downstream operations have high risk, high costs and high technology, so the company continuously tries to reduce the importance of the adverse impact of these risks on the work environment and people. Thus, evaluating the factors that affect sustainable production in this sector becomes a necessity. In this research will be evaluated the economy of the oil and gas field using methods of economic indicators, among others; NPV, POT, ROR, where these factors are estimated in order to be able to estimate the prospects of the oil and gas field so that the decision that the field development project can be implemented or cannot be taken immediately. Implementation of oil and gas field economic evaluation in this study using Macro VBA Excel. From several methods of economic analysis obtained that the results of this study show high precision compared to other methods, in addition to the way of evaluation using the above economic indicators is very popular.

The resource potential of the enterprise as a factor of sustainable industrial development in modern economic conditions

Sustainable development is a concept aimed at striking a balance between social, economic and environmental aspects and is one of the most important challenges and priorities in the modern socio-economic system. The balance between economic goals and needs (industrial growth, efficient use of resources) and environmental goals and needs (biodiversity, natural resources, ecosystem integrity) is driven by productive factors. Thus, industrial growth may conflict with the protection of natural resources, and as a result lead to incompatibility of needs. The article considers an industrial enterprise as a system that includes various business processes providing production activities and are included in the economic turnover and resources required for production purposes. Increasing resource efficiency and participation in green projects are important opportunities for economic development. The importance of promoting a significant increase in the share of industry in employment and gross domestic product in line with national objectives to modernize infrastructure and modernize industries to make them sustainable, with increased use of resources, efficient and wider adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies in industrial processes has been identified. Increased technological capacity of industries, motivation of innovation and a significant increase in the number of personnel engaged in research and development through public and private financing has been identified as an important factor in sustainable development. Since the modern economic conditions for the running of industrial enterprises are manifested in the emergence of technological and managerial innovations in the structure of resource potential in terms of development of innovative digital technologies, the concept of developing the resource potential of an industrial enterprise is proposed, including tools for self-optimizing economic actors and self-adapting business processes to the integration of digital technologies.

Experimental Analysis of a Photovoltaic Power Plant in a Desert Environment– Adrar area –

Algeria has one of the highest solar deposits in the world, the average duration of sunshine in the Algerian Sahara is 3500 hours, and this potential can be an important factor for sustainable development in this region, if it is exploited economical way. In this context, it should be noted that the city of Adrar is located in the region of the "solar belt", which enjoys abundant sunshine of more than 3000 hours of sunshine per year, based on data from Overall hourly irradiation on a horizontal surface, the Adrar region is distinguished by a higher average daily irradiation of up to 5.7 kWh/m2/day. In the present work, an operational performance analysis of a polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic system for one year is performed. The installed capacity of this system is 20 MW, and it is exposed in an arid climate in Adrar of southern Algeria.

The Role of the Traditional Crafts as Intangible Heritage on the Global Tourist Market

Research background: The results of the researches in the word show that traditional crafts play very important role in presenting the culture and traditions of any country and provide opportunities for employment with low capital investments. Dubrovnik traditional crafts have not been touristic valorized as well. That is why is relevant to analyse the role and development possibilites of Dubrovnik traditional crafts from international poin of view. Purpose of the article: The aim of the paper was to analyse importance and types of traditional crafts as much as to explore the attitudes of local residents in the area of Dubrovnik towards the possibilities of developing new tourism products forms based on the traditional crafts. Methods: For the purpose of the paper the secondary and primary data have been used. The empirical research has been conducted using the structured interview method. The sample has consisted of 48 employees. The respondents were residents, employed by companies in Dubrovnik. The results of primary and secondary researches have been considered together regarding the elements of cultural motivation. Findings & Value added: The local residents consider that traditional crafts could be important factor of sustainable development of tourist destinations Dubrovnik. There is an interest in “reviving” them and valorizing for tourism purposes, especially Konavle, Mljet and Coastal embroidery, Knitting, Stonemasonry and Sericulture. All traditional crafts had been currently positioned in the area of mediocre level of tourist valorization.

ОБРАЗОВАТЕЛЬНЫЙ ПРОЦЕСС В ПЕРИОД ПАНДЕМИИ: ОПЫТ РГГУ

The article deals in the analysis of the organization of the educational process at the university during a pandemic. It shows the ability of universities to adapt to possible changes, to make decisions in conditions of uncertainty and risk, to act in extreme situations. The article also considers the reaction of the educational system, executives, teachers and students to the challenges associated with the pandemic. The authors distinctly show the role of digitalization that made it possible not to interrupt the educational process and that is an important factor in sustainable development. Much space in the article is paid to the issues of emotional stability of all categories of the staff employees and students. The prospect for a mixed format in realizing the educational process, the acquisition of digital competencies by teachers and students is shown.

Central Asia: Involvement Of Afghanistan In Regional Development Processes

The article observes the contemporary processes of forming a system of good neighbourly relations in Central Asia with the participation of Afghanistan and increasing the potential for regional development. The article maintains peace in Afghanistan is not only an important factor for sustainable development in the region but also an opportunity to intensify trade and economic cooperation with European countries in Asia to ensure the integration of transit and transport opportunities. It is noted that Uzbekistan supports the further intensification of multifaceted cooperation with Afghanistan and the prompt establishment of peace and stability in the neighbouring country, the restoration of its economic and transport infrastructure.

Standardized Green View Index and Quantification of Different Metrics of Urban Green Vegetation

Urban greenery is considered an important factor in sustainable development and people’s quality of life in the city. To account for urban green vegetation, Green View Index (GVI), which captures the visibility of greenery at street level, has been used. However, as GVI is point-based estimation, when aggregated at an area-level by mean or median, it is sensitive to the location of sampled sites, overweighing the values of densely located sites. To make estimation at area-level more robust, this study aims to (1) propose an improved indicator of greenery visibility (standardized GVI; sGVI), and (2) quantify the relation between sGVI and other green metrics. Experiment on an hypothetical setting confirmed that bias from site location can be mitigated by sGVI. Furthermore, comparing sGVI and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) at the city block level in Yokohama city, Japan, we found that sGVI captures the presence of vegetation better in the city center, whereas NDVI is better at capturing vegetation in parks and forests, principally due to the different viewpoints (eye-level perception and top-down eyesight). These tools provide a foundation for accessing the effect of vegetation in urban landscapes in a more robust matter, enabling comparison on any arbitrary geographical scale.

Conceptualizing Pathways of Sustainable Development in the Union for the Mediterranean Countries with an Empirical Intersection of Energy Consumption and Economic Growth.

The availability of sufficient and trustworthy energy services at the reasonable cost in a securely and environmentally friendly manner, and conventionality with economic and social development requirements, is an important factor of sustainable development (SD). Energy plays a significant role in eliminating poverty and increasing living standards. However, most of the present energy forms of energy supply and consumption are unsustainable. This paper analyzes the association between economic growth (EG), energy consumption (EC), and sustainable development (SD) among other economic factors. The sample of 14 developed and developing member states of the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) was selected. To deal with the endogeneity issue, the system- generalized method of moment (GMM) model was employed. Moreover, panel co-integration, Granger causality tests, and robustness tests were employed to examine the long-run and short-run causality among variables of interest. The results confirmed the short-run dynamic association from sustainable development (SD) to energy consumption (EC), and economic growth (EG) to sustainable development (SD). Moreover, the results validated the presence of long-run equilibrium association in the equations of EC and sustainable development (SD). The findings of this study will be supportive for the policymakers to formulate sustainable energy policies to stimulate the economic growth (EG) in the way of sustainable development (SD) in the UFM countries.

Green Investment Promotion Policies as a Regulatory Direction for the Green Finance Market

In recent years, the topic of green finance has received great attention in the world. It is also gaining popularity in Russia, both in scientific discourse and in practical work. The global investment and financial system is also deeply involved in this process. ESG (environmental, social and governance) factors, which take into account the three pillars of sustainable development (environmental, social and corporate governance responsibility), formed the basis of the concept of “responsible/green investment.” Many financial markets around the world now have a strong interest in sustainable development. With good government support, securities markets can play a huge role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals related to green investment. In 2016–2017, 132 countries, which account for 82% of all harmful emissions, at the state level adopted a number of national initiatives in the field of green financing development. In the implementation of environmental, climatic and socially significant projects, independent specialized experts assess their compliance with green finance principles and standards. In addition, they are subject to special requirements for disclosure and isolation of cash flows. Countries that do not participate in the formulation of rules and standards in this not yet regulated market will eventually be forced to accept the conditions of play formed without their participation. The work emphasizes that green finance is an important factor for sustainable development. The subject of the study is green investment as one of the key elements characterizing the balanced socio-ecological-economic development of the country. The objective of the study is responsible/green financing of the national economy, viewed in the context that balanced sustainable development is the fundamental objective of macroeconomic policies of the State. The methodological basis of the study was the general scientific methods and techniques. The empirical basis of the study was statistics on the green investment market. The formation of a green investment market is an important factor contributing to the balanced development of the country as part of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Regional Text as a Factor of Organizing Modern Social Space

In the context of modern social transformation, the role of regions as territorial-economic complexes and administrative units, gaining the status of entities in the national system of relations, is strengthening. Important indicators of the formation of the region are regional culture and regional self-awareness, due to the commonality of experiences of significant events occurring in a certain territory at a certain time. The key values of the regional culture are fixed in the regional text – a symbolic complex that accumulates the concepts of regional culture. The specificity of the regional text is due to its formation bades on local symbolic and symbolic structures with explanatory potential and translating the idea of stability, reliability, and also, to a large extent, development in the media environment, dissemination in the media format that informs the regional text of innovative qualities that former media (mobility, flexibility, interactivity, fundamental openness at the semantic and structural-compositional levels) didn't have. The regional text carries an identification code, it contains life-preserving constants and lifesetting values. Possessing a built-in mechanism for the correction of semantic and syntactic relations, aimed at self-preservation of the social whole, the regional text performs constructive and projective functions in the context of modern social dynamics. Sign-symbolic complexes with regional semantics play an important role in the self-description of regional communities, allowing them to maintain self-identification, to recreate the conditions necessary for optimal interaction and life in the modern social space. The regional text plays a large role in shaping the image of the region, which determines its socio-economic status and cultural status. The modern regional text is mobile, multi-layered, discrete, and has no rigid structure. It is synergistically transforming into a dynamically changing society, depending on the goals and values that guide the regional community. The presence of control parameters in the structure of the regional text makes it an important factor in sustainable development and determines the need for the conscious participation of the political and intellectual elite in the creation of regional semiotic spaces.

An overview on source, mechanism and investigation approaches in groundwater salinization studies

Groundwater quality, as major source of freshwater, is an important factor in sustainable development and water resources management. Due to increase in water demand in developing countries and overexploitation, groundwater quality has decreased in many aquifers in the world. One of the most important factors which decrease the groundwater quality is salinization. The aim of this study is to comprehensively review the sources and mechanisms of salinization. Based on our review, the major sources of groundwater salinization consist of marine sources (e.g., connate saline groundwater, marine transgressions, incidental flooding by seawater, lateral seawater intrusion and seawater sprays), natural continental sources (e.g., evaporation, soluble minerals, membrane effects and geothermal origin), anthropogenic activities and multiplicity sources. Research approaches in groundwater salinization include hydrogeochemical and isotopic tracers, hydrogeochemical models and groundwater dating isotopes (radioisotopes). The simple and clear guideline presented in this paper can be applied to investigate the groundwater salinization by researchers in the world.
