According to various estimates, the number of employed Ukrainian seafarers is 115-190 thousand. About 400 crewing agencies and companies are registered in Ukraine, of which 270 are in Odessa. They are the main employers of seafarers.High market competition, imbalance in the global seafarers market forces crewing companies to improve management methods, tools and technologies in their activities. In this context, a process-oriented management approach deserves more attention. The study aims to formulate theoretical aspects of the essence of the concept of «business process of a crewing company», classify business processes and provide practical recommendations on the allocation of responsibility for relevant business processes. To achieve the goal, the article posed and solved the tasks: to determine the essence of the business process of a crewing company, to propose a classification of business processes, to allocate responsibility for processes in a crewing company, and to determine process performance indicators.As a result of the study, the essence of the business processes of the crewing company was determined and their classification was proposed. The main business processes include the current activities of the crewing company, which results in the provision of mediation services for seafarers employment of according to shipowners and the STCW 78/95 ISM, ISPS, IMO requirements: sourcing, recruitment, selection of seafarers, employing seafarers, paperwork for the crew for embarkation/disembarkation, flag documents preparation, the departure of seafarers to ships, staff assessment.According to the main business processes, those responsible were identified and performance indicators for the process were proposed. It is recommended to determine the effectiveness of the «Seafarers' employment» business process by indicators of the principal’s requests completion percentage, expenses and principal’s request completion time, mistakes made when employing seafarers, and the level of discharge seafarers.The author presents the structure of one of the most important business processes − Seafarers' employment, which consists of several processes, from the registration of an application from a shipowner to reporting on the seaman work on board a under a contract and planning further cooperation.
