The Impact of Digital Transformation on Supply Chain Management: A Study of How Firms Adapt

Businesses need to embrace digital if they want to succeed in the cutthroat business climate of today. The goal of supply chain management is to maximise value for stakeholders and customers while also achieving operational efficiency. The planning, carrying out, managing, and verifying of store network exercises do this. The benefits and drawbacks of integrating digital technology into supply chain management practices are examined in this study. This analysis also aims to shed light on the potential advantages of advanced change for developing market organisations that aspire to become global. By using a qualitative methodology and carrying out a thorough analysis of six successful real cases in three different emerging markets—Iran, Bangladesh, and Pakistan—the study also seeks to offer recommendations for businesses in emerging markets on how to use digital technologies to optimise supply chain management processes and facilitate international business. The ultimate goal of this research is to improve knowledge of the role and importance of digital transformation in supply chain management for companies that operate in developing countries and to offer these companies useful advice so they can successfully compete on a global scale.

Organizational Factors Driving the Realization of Digital Health Transformation Benefits from Health Service Managers: A Qualitative Study.

Healthcare is experiencing a global period of profound transformation, and digital health shows the promise of dispensing innovative and contemporary service models. However, changes are required to improve the capabilities of health managers in driving successful digital transformation. This paper aims to explore the organizational barriers that health service managers have encountered when realizing the benefits of a digitally transforming environment. This is part of a larger research study exploring digital competencies for health service managers, with the findings from focus group discussions providing a baseline from which to address the organizational improvements and changes in system capabilities required to assist in realizing the benefits of digital health transformation. The study is qualitative in nature. It employs focus group discussions to gain an in-depth understanding of the experiences and views of health service managers and identify the benefits and barriers that managers have experienced in introducing digital health in their workplace. Barriers encountered in realizing digital health benefits in the workplace were evidenced across five major themes: (1) change resistance and usage, (2) trust and uniformity, (3) resourcing and procurement, (4) digital literacy, and (5) siloed systems. Findings from this study demonstrate that in driving the realization of digital health transformation benefits, health service managers need organizational and system-wide efforts to support managing in the digital health context. The key identified barriers experienced by health service managers include facing human and technical challenges with system adoption and the governance of data-driven decision-making in the digital context. The importance of digital transformation in healthcare is evident and will increasingly become a necessity for organizational survival and success. This study adds important insights into the organizational barriers that health service managers have encountered when realizing the benefits resulting from digital transformation. Addressing these barriers requires macro-, meso- and micro-level system investments. These benefits are enhanced by enabling factors critical for digital health adoption that have been described in key categories involving health system related: (1) policy and system, (2) organizational structure and processes, and human resource management, and (3) people factors. The importance of ensuring the organizational factors driving the realization of benefits in a digitally transforming environment is also addressed and capitalized upon for health service managers.

The improvement of business performance in the shipbuilding sector driven by digital transformation and decarbonisation, and its impact on human resources

This study analyses the relationship between digital transformation, decarbonisation and Human Resource Management (HRM) on performance in the naval sector, with the aim of empirically confirming a correlation between these variables, achieving a deeper knowledge that allows companies to upgrade their results. The methodology used to obtain the results and contrast the hypothesis model has been the Partial Least Squares (PLS), using data from 102 questionnaires collected from employees belonging to the sector. The findings of this research represent a new contribution to the literature: the results of the analysis found evidence of decarbonisation contributing favourably to HRM, leading to performance improvement in the naval industry companies, as well as a positive correlation between digital transformation and performance. However, there was no sufficient evidence to prove the direct relationship between decarbonisation and performance in the sector. Finally, the results found in this research could be utilised as evidence to consider the trend variables in the current business environment to influence business model design aiming to promote efficiency and improvement of the results of the organisations in the naval sector. Digital transformation of enterprises under the pressure of air pollution

ABSTRACT Although the effects of air pollution on economics have been reflected in recent research, very little literature has explored whether enterprises are actively adopting digital transformation under the pressure of air pollution. Considering the serious air pollution in China and the importance of digital transformation, this study uses the panel data of Chinese A-share listed companies and air quality data, from 2014 to 2020, to investigate the impact of air pollution pressure on digital transformation. The results show that air pollution pressure forces enterprises to engage in digital transformation. The conclusion still holds after endogeneity and robustness tests. Further, a mechanism analysis indicates that air pollution pressure affects digital transformation through green cognition, green innovation, and government subsidies. Meanwhile, regional informatization positively moderates the relationship between air pollution pressure and three mechanisms. Finally, a heterogeneity analysis shows that air pollution significantly affects digital transformation in eastern regions, state-owned, capital-intensive, and technology-intensive enterprises.

Enhancing SMEs digital transformation through machine learning: A framework for adaptive quality prediction

As smart manufacturing expands, businesses see the importance of digital transformation, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Unlike larger companies, SMEs face greater challenges when undergoing digital transformation due to technological questions. However, recent advancements in high-performance computing and reduced hardware costs have made deep learning-based digital transformation more financially feasible for SMEs. While previous research utilized machine learning for product quality prediction, there remains a lack of comprehensive in adaptive quality prediction specifically designed for SMEs. This study presents a systematic framework utilizing various machine learning methods and validates research cases using CRISP-DM (Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining). The first step involves applying XGBoost(eXtreme Gradient Boosting)for feature selection, the second step utilizes GRU for parameter prediction. Finally, in the third step, SVM (Support Vector Machine) is employed for quality classification. The integrated framework achieves high accuracy, with R2reaching 90 % for predicted parameters and nearly 95 % for classification indicators. Moreover, this research addresses the research gap in quality prediction and adaptability and provide an effective digital transformation solution for SMEs without substantial investment. The proposed research framework can be applied SMEs of other domains, such as the machining and traditional manufacturing industry.

Activities to socialize digital transformation of Micro small and Medium Enterprises in Tangerang Regency were carried out online and were attended by 497 participants with various backgrounds. There were three speakers and were guided directly by a moderator. Explained the problems and obstacles in implementing digitalization for micro small and medium enterprises, and the importance of digital transformation. This community service seminar was also filled with material about breaking down household waste into gold and beauty by the second resource person. The activity went well and was interactive between participants and resource persons. It is hoped that in the future similar activities can be carried out directly and continuously so that they can maximize the progress of Micro small and Medium Enterprises in Tangerang Regency

The article first elaborates on the concepts of digital transformation and green innovation; secondly, the meaning, development process, and evaluation methods of the maturity evaluation model were explained. Finally, the impact of the maturity of digital transformation capabilities of prefabricated construction enterprises on green innovation was explained. Through analysis, the importance of digital transformation and environmental green innovation has been highlighted. Impact of Digital Transformation and Green Manufacturing Practices on Firm Performance with Mediating Role of Green Product Innovation: An Empirical Investigation with PLS-SEM Modeling

Purpose: The objective of this research is to determine the impact of green manufacturing practices and digital transformation on firm performance, with a particular focus on the mediating role of green product innovation. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study conducted a survey of 212 employees from various businesses using a questionnaire-based method. The data is analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to examine the connections between digital transformation, green manufacturing practices, and company performance. The study also investigated the intermediary function of green product innovation in these connections and offered valuable insights into how sustainable practices might enhance corporate performance. Findings: This research indicates that green product innovation plays a vital role in connecting these practices to improved company success. The results suggests that organisations that have used digital transformation technologies are more inclined to foster innovation in environmental friendly goods, so enhancing sustainability and subsequently improving performance. Implications/Originality/Value: The present research contributes to the existing understanding of the impact of digital transformation and green manufacturing techniques on enhancing company performance with a specific emphasis on sustainability. The importance of digital transformation and environmentally-conscious manufacturing methods in improving the sustainability of enterprises is emphasised.

The Importance of Digital Transformation (5.0) in Supply Chain Optimization: An Empirical Study

Abstract The topic of digital transformation in supply chain optimization has garnered considerable attention in recent years due to its importance. The purpose of the study was to offer empirical evidence and insights into the advantages and obstacles linked with digital transformation in supply chain management. To investigate the effects of digital transformation on supply chain optimization, the research employs a hybrid methodology and comprehensive approach that includes a thorough literature review, the creation of a theoretical framework, and the presentation of empirical finings through various case studies using the predefined selection criteria. The case analyses highlight crucial elements that support effective digital transformations, including real-time data analytics, teamwork, blockchain technology, digital twin augmented and virtual reality and collaborative robots. The practical implications from the findings of this study, proffers insights that can be extremely helpful for professionals in various industrial sectors and businesses planning similar digital transformation journeys. This empirical study with regards to the implication of Digital transformation 5.0 on supply chain management is novel to the body of literature. It is however necessary to conduct more study to confirm the results, apply them to a wider range of businesses, and investigate different aspects of digital transformation in supply chain optimization.

Unveiling the affecting mechanism of digital transformation on total factor productivity of Chinese firms.

The importance of digital transformation (DGT) for increasing productivity cannot be negated and Chinese firms are rapidly embracing the digital transformation for their sustainability. But the mechanism and impact of digital transformation on total factor productivity (TFP) of firms is still unclear and this study is intended to fill this gap using the data of 3112 listed firms of China during 2011 to 2022. We applied various econometric techniques like stepwise regression analysis, instrumental variable approach, differences in difference approach, and mediating analysis to determine the relationship between digital transformation and TFP and robustness of estimated findings. The findings indicate that DGT has a positive impact on overall TFP of firms in China while operating efficiency, cheaper costs, and a stronger capacity for innovation mediates this relationship. Moreover, it is explored that conventional information and communication technologies have not significant impact on TFP of firms. The findings of the study remain valid even applying many robustness checks and attempts to control the issue of endogeneity. To fully leverage the potential benefits of digital transformation on TFP, it is essential to focus on enhancing digital literacy and skills among the workforce. Governments and relevant stakeholders should prioritize and invest in comprehensive digital literacy and skills training programs to empower the workforce with the knowledge and expertise needed to navigate the digital age effectively.

RESEARCH TRENDS IN DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN SUPPLY CHAIN BASED ON BIBLIOMETRIC AND NETWORK ANALYSIS

With the development of the 4th Industrial Revolution technology, the digitalization of supply chain is also receiving a lot of attention. With various technological developments, the importance of digital transformation in a firm’s supply chain is increasing. Therefore, for a more comprehensive understanding of digital transformation in supply chain, we have implemented a rigorous systematic literature review by supplementing the shortcomings of existing literature and combining bibliometric analysis and network analysis with keyword network analysis. Using the SCOPUS database, we collected 182 papers addressing digital transformation in the supply chain published in renowned business administration journals, identified research trends. Then, we analyzed the connection of citations as well as the author’s keywords and their changes over time. Based on these results, this study presents the number of publications and changes in papers by period, influential authors and papers, key keywords and topics, etc. on digital transformation in supply chain.

Digital transformation, state Hei performance and the moderating role of leadership

ABSTRACT Considering the importance of Digital Transformation (DT) for better performance in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), and the role played by leadership in the DT process, this study has a twin aim. The first is to analyse how DT can influence different performance dimensions of State HEIs. The second is to analyse the possible moderating effect of leadership styles on the relation between DT and these HEIs’ performance. To do so, a composite index of DT was elaborated and applied to websites of Brazilian and Iberian State HEIs. Through application of the PLS-SEM method, it was identified that three dimensions of DT are found to have a positive and significant influence on performance in research, transfer, internationalization and sustainability in Brazilian HEIs. In turn, three dimensions of DT influence performance in research and transfer in Iberian HEIs. Despite not confirming the moderating effect of leadership, this study revealed that the interaction between cybernetic and shared leadership styles and DT has a positive and significant influence on research performance in Brazilian HEIs. The empirical evidence presented here can support grounded, prioritized decision-making by managers and governors, in order to ensure improved DT and performance in the HEIs studied.

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the essence and importance of digital transformation in the context of managerial and economic aspects. The key factors and manifestations of digital transformation in the business environment are studied, particularly its impact on business models, internal work processes and interaction with consumers. It has been determined that new digital platforms and services can create innovative ways to generate revenue and attract new customers. The article focuses on strategic planning as a necessary stage before the implementation of digital transformation. Before implementing digital initiatives, it is extremely important to conduct an analysis, clearly define goals and objectives, and understand how they will be integrated into the overall development strategy of the company. The study confirmed that leadership plays a critical role in the process of implementing technology initiatives. The effective contribution of leadership involves its active engagement in this process, facilitating the adoption of well-founded strategic decisions, and providing the necessary resources for the successful realization of initiatives. The article emphasizes that successful digital transformation requires not only technological changes, but also cultural ones, corporate culture should be aimed at accepting changes and being ready to adapt to the new digital environment. Research shows that successful implementation of digital initiatives requires employees to develop new skills, as well as flexibility and readiness for constant change, not only for IT professionals, but also for all levels of staff. The article highlights the significance of collaboration and partnership in modern business during digital transformation, emphasizing the opportunities presented by digital technologies to enhance interaction with partners and increase the efficiency of business processes.

An examination of large-scale electronic health records implementation in Primary Healthcare Centers in Saudi Arabia: a qualitative study.

Digital transformation has become a buzzword in almost every industry in the twenti first century. Healthcare is not an exception. In the healthcare industry, digital transformation includes the utilization of electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, health information exchange, mobile health, and other interactive platforms. The importance of digital transformation in healthcare cannot be overemphasized as it has proven to be critical in improving patient outcomes, making healthcare delivery more efficient, and reducing costs. The positive impact of electronic health records was noticed almost immediately in the field of primary healthcare. It has been suggested that implementing electronic health records will enhance the accessibility and the process of distribution of health records between authorized users. As part of Saudi vision 2030, all healthcare organizations in Saudi Arabia are going to shift to digital transformation. This study follows a qualitative, semi-structure, face-to-face interview approach. The collected data were analyzed using NVivo V10 software. Inductive thematic analysis approach was used to analyse the collected data from the interviews. Seventeen project team members, from different positions and backgrounds were purposively chosen to be interviewed. Three main themes and 38 codes were generated from the analysis of transcripts. The informants describe the implementation of electronic health records in the PHCs based on two different experiences. The participants reported that a previous attempt failed due to inappropriate infrastructure, lack of technical support, and low level of user acceptance. Therefore, the policymakers adopted several steps to increase the level of success and avoid failure causes. They initially established well-defined requests for proposals followed by continuous commendation among the project team and conducted a consultation on multiple levels (country level; organizational level and individual level). This study concluded that the main causes that lead to the failure of the large-scale project were lack of connectivity, lack of technical support, and staff changes, particularly those who occupied high-level positions in the Saudi ministry of Health. The success rate of EHRs implementation can be directly impacted by the size of the project. Large-scale projects are complicated and may be subject to numerous challenges compared with small projects. Significant factors such as training, support, legal issues, and organizational workflow and redesign were a concern of the project team during the pre-implementation phase. In addition, other factors related to technology and end-users were included in the EHRs implementation plan.

SMES' FLIGHT TO DIGITAL AND GREEN ECONOMY: EVIDENCE FROM INDONESIA

This research aims to examine the impact of SMEs’ digital transformation on improving green economy implementation in Indonesia. This research will analyze how the influence of digitalization on SMEs on green economy implementation is getting stronger in SMEs that have access to financial services in Indonesia. This research will have implications on both theoretical and practical points of view regarding the importance of digital transformation in SMEs, the role of financial access, and green economy. The current research provides empirical evidence on the implementation of digital technology by Indonesian SMEs and the environmental issues that received renewed attention recently. The data in this study were collected using an interviewer-administered survey using google forms with the owners or managers of SMEs in the manufacturing, retail, and services sectors. The variables of interest in this study are the digital transformation of SMEs and green economy implementation. Furthermore, access to financial services is proposed as a moderating variable. In addition, the analytical method used in this quantitative study regression model and processed using STATA 17 software. This research shows that the digital transformation of SMEs helps improve green economy implementation in Indonesia.

The minerals industry in the era of digital transition: An energy-efficient and environmentally conscious approach

The concept of the 4th industrial revolution is becoming a strategic determinant of sustainability, success and competitiveness in the modern mining sector. The importance of digital transformation in the mining industry has long been debated, hampered in part by the conservative nature of the mining sector. Much of the debate has focused on choosing suitable mining techniques that provide acceptable levels of ore/waste selectivity, the scale of implementation, cost reduction and suitable metallurgical extraction techniques. The purpose of this review is to give an overview of the digital transformation of the minerals and extractive industry with a focus towards energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. We address: (a) geological elements that influence the level of selectivity during mining, and technologies that deal with waste rejection; (b) eco-friendly techniques, such as tunnel-boring machines, or the use of non-explosive techniques that can assist fragmentation of ores, thereby decreasing energy requirements during mineral processing and improving mineral recovery; (c) use of low-water-consumption automated ore-waste sorting systems; (d) selective metal leaching using coarse particle percolation as an alternate method for treating complicated low-grade ores; and (e) assessing new technological boundaries for the mineral sector. A combination of these aforementioned processes will significantly reduce mining waste. Orebody features, mining methods and equipment, desired scales of implementation, alignment with circular strategies, ore extraction efficiency, and socio-economic factors all play a role in the development and implementation of new technologies and techniques.

The drivers of the digital transformation in the healthcare industry: An empirical analysis in Italian hospitals

In recent years, driven by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, digital transformation in the healthcare sector is becoming increasingly important. Digital healthcare technologies, if adopted in a targeted manner and implemented in a cost-effective way, make it possible to reduce healthcare inequalities, improve the quality of healthcare provided and increase the well-being of citizens. The importance of digital transformation in healthcare is also attracting interest from academics. However, at present, there are few studies aimed at examining the degree of digital transformation in healthcare and the drivers of the adoption and implementation of digital solutions by healthcare facilities. This study aims to fill this gap by analysing the level of digital transformation of Italian hospitals and the factors that can affect this level of digital transformation. The analysis, conducted on a sample of 103 hospitals, shows a positive and significant impact of the hospital size, hospital age and hospital teaching status on the level of digital transformation. Furthermore, in relation to hospital complexity, it shows a positive effect of the presence of the emergency room and a non-significant influence of the number of hospital departments on the level of digital transformation.

THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF KYRGYZ REPUBLIC’S BANKING SECTOR

This article discusses the role and importance of digital transformation in the banking system and the direction of its development in the future. Based on the data of the NBKR and dynamic, structural and graphic methods of research, an analysis was made of the trend in the development of information technologies of the banking system in the Kyrgyz Republic by region. The dynamics and concentration of the network of ATMs, plastic cards in circulation, payments by means of electronic money for the period of the COVID-19 pandemic were determined. The problems of digitalization of banking services in the current conditions of development of the banking system of the Kyrgyz Republic are considered, and ways to minimize them are identified.

The Development of Digital Transformation and Relevant Competencies for Employees in the Context of the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Latvia

The current period describes the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing economic crisis on businesses and the lives of citizens. It has accelerated digital transformation in all areas. The work and learning of many individuals have moved to the digital environment. In order to use digital technologies, employees need to acquire new knowledge and skills. The aim of this research study is to perform an analysis of the development of digital transformation and relevant competencies for employees and to identify the opportunities and challenges in Latvia. The research methodology applied for this research study is based on examining relevant theoretical concepts and publications of the EU regarding digital transformation. A survey method was used to find out the opinions of Latvian employers regarding the importance of digital transformation and relevant competencies for employees. The analysis of the research indicated that the majority of the respondents surveyed rated the level of implementation of digital transformation as high or medium-high, which shows that this is a good trend, and the digitalization process continues to progress. However, about a third of enterprises are only at the early stage of digitalization, while some have not yet begun it. The problem is the development of human capital competencies and digital skills. This is a specific research study that expands and provides insights into the situation in Latvia on the possibilities of implementation of digital transformation, which is closely linked with the development of human capital competencies and digital skills. This requires maintaining a holistic approach to targeted digital transformation management.
