The paper seeks to explore the issues of the automotive industry development given its strategic importance to Ukrainian machinery manufacturing sector. Currently, Ukraine's automotive industry challenges special attention, since in response to strong negative effects from multiple socioeconomic and global political environment factors, there has been a significant decrease in the number of automobile companies. Car manufacturers who managed to survive in the national automotive industry market suffer from a wide range of various problems of industrial, staff, managerial, innovation, investment, financial, strategic or market nature. It is assumed that functioning of Ukrainian car manufacturing companies in the current dynamic realia claims for building their new development strategies. However, effective strategic planning is associated with proper understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the domestic automakers and the opportunities and threats for their successful performance. From this perspective, there is a growing need for an integrated assessment of all external and internal environment impact factors to identify the opportunities and prospects of automotive industry in Ukraine. The purpose of this paper is to carry out a SWOT analysis of Ukraine’s automotive industry. To attain the above objectives, the following research methods have been employed: the method of analysis and synthesis – to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the Ukrainian automotive industry as well as the opportunities and threats for their successful functioning; the system approach – to construct the variations of "strengths – opportunities", "weaknesses – opportunities", "strengths – threats", "weaknesses – threats" of the SWOT matrix of the Ukrainian automotive industry. The results of the integrated assessment of the competitiveness of Ukrainian automotive companies revealed their strengths and weaknesses along with identifying opportunities and threats to ensure successful performance of the domestic automotive companies. The specific pathways to implement the "maxi – maxi", "maxi – mini", "mini – maxi" and "mini – mini" strategies at the enterprises of the automotive industry in Ukraine have been developed. The outcomes of the SWOT analysis might lay the basis for building effective strategies to boost the national car manufacturing and ultimately contribute to the overall government strategy for enhancing Ukraine's automotive industry in the frameworks of the harmonization approach.

An Improved Ecological Services Valuation Model in Land Use Project.

Natural ecosystems benefit human lives via providing fundamental life-support services and goods upon which human civilization depends. However, as nature provides those for free, many people believe that they are of little or no value and they exploit the land greedily and unreasonably, which makes serious ecological degradation. Concerning this issue, we present the ecological services valuation model (ESVM) to measure the cost of environmental degradation of land use cost, which is an evaluation model of environmental degradation cost. Environmental degradation cost refer to the cost of deterioration or compromise of natural environment through natural processes or human activities, which consists of opportunity cost and environmental damage cost. Land area is an important variable in the ESVM. Based on Osmotic system, we put forward the effective land area, which combines the scale factor and the impact of external environment. What is more, the Cobb–Douglas production function is modified to establish the model. Finally, we propose the calculation formula of the economic cost of land use projects. Analysis of effectiveness and sensitivity prove that ESVM was a relatively stable model.

Integration of mechanical deformation and optical losses in the design of linear Fresnel solar collectors

Increasing energy efficiency of concentrating solar power (CSP) is of great importance to accelerate the market penetration of these technologies. The design of CSP components must take into account manufacturing cost as well as energy efficiency. The present paper proposes a method to analyze optical efficiency of Linear Fresnel reflectors taking into account the environmental conditions present in the implantation site. The objective is to design Fresnel collector that combines a good optical efficiency with a low consumption of raw material during its manufacturing. The first step is to quantify the impact of external environment on the mechanical behavior of collector structure. The impact of wind action on collector structure is evaluated by the mean of an accurate fluid dynamics analysis. Ray tracing method is then used to quantify the optical performance of reflective mirrors taking in account the deformation of collector structure caused by wind action and other external loads. In order to illustrate the proposed method, many design solutions of collector were analyses in order to maximize the performances in terms of optical efficiency and structure weight. A preference-based multi-objective model is then used to synthesize the performances of each design solutions in a single value. This model is based on the use of desirability functions and an aggregation operator.

Slope Detection Based on Grating Sensors

Because slope detection is often subject to various electromagnetic disturbances and weather limitations, there is an urgent need to develop a monitoring system that has the advantages of strong anti-electromagnetic interference capability, long service life, and small external environmental impact.Based on this demand, a real-time slope monitoring system based on fiber Bragg grating angle, crack, and osmotic pressure sensors is designed.The design idea is to use the sensitivity of FBG to the external stress, and the angle and crack penetrating pressure information are obtained from the offset of wavelength in different sensors to determine the stability of the slope.The design and implementation of the FBG slope monitoring system can better solve the existing problems in the slope monitoring, improve the ability to predict dangers, and strengthen the safety monitoring capability.The utility value of the system is high.

Analysis of the criteria for calculating non-rigid pavements in conditions of intense traffic flow

Domestic methods of designing and calculating non-rigid pavements were modified in parallel with changes in the load-carrying capacity of vehicles and an increase in the average traffic intensity of cars. With the increase in the level of costs for the construction and repair of road clothes, the level of responsibility for design has increased. However, more often at the operational stage, early defects of asphalt-concrete layers are detected and premature reduction of the bearing capacity of the structure as a whole. This only indicates that the prediction of the service life in the design of traditional methods is not reliable. The reasons for this may be several: erroneous determination of the number of cycles of the annual loading of the structure, a distorted or ineffective consideration of the climatic conditions of operation of the road-building materials of the layers, an inaccurate technique for determining the maximum permissible and emerging deformations, and also accumulating them during operation. As a result, the issues of construction of road clothes, requirements for them and the design of highways in general are being revised. Obviously, the traditional method of calculation, as a minimum, can not be considered universal. The authors presented a new approach to calculating the strength of non-rigid pavements by the criterion of accumulation of fatigue damages of asphalt-concrete layers, which can provide reliable prediction of the pavement life cycle, because it is based on the multifactorial influence of external environmental impact. Modeling such a multifactor process as the life cycle of a design is a complex computational task. Active integration of computer technologies into modern life and construction processes allows solving this task with the help of a computer, by developing application programs. At the department of «Highways» DSTU developed a software package Pavement Life Cycle, able to make calculations based on a new criterion for calculating non-rigid road clothes. Institutional Environment, Cluster Development and Innovative Financing Constraints——an Empirical Study Based on Listed Companies in China’s New Materials

This paper takes a sample of a listed company in China’s new materials industry as an example to empirically analyze the impact of external institutional environment and the development of internal enterprise clustering on the innovation and financing constraints of an enterprise. The study finds that the higher the degree of cluster development, the stronger the enterprise’s ability to innovate, and the lower the level of innovative financing constraints; in areas where the marketization process is low, the level of government intervention is high, and the environment of the rule of law is poor, the firm’s innovative financing constraints are lower, and Private companies’ innovation financing constraints are generally higher than state-owned enterprises. The conclusions of the study provide empirical evidence for the improvement of independent innovation capabilities in strategic emerging industries and the development of innovative financing policies.

Development of reflex-adaptive organizational structure of high robustness

One of the modern problems of business is the robustness of daily operations of company. Real productive industries permanently face the dramatic changes in the characteristics of the external environment which causes the explosive growth of risk situations that can lead to considerable damages and losses. That is why in modern management a significant place is occupied by methods called “risk management” designed to predict the emergence of negative situations and develop on this basis the protective measures.The purpose of the article is to equip developers of organizational structures, managers and participants of the construction process with not a complex but with the effective methodology of developing of organizational structures with high resistance qualities to the impact of external and internal environment based on the analysis of the reflex-adaptive qualities of the organizational structure of the investment and construction project. Overall, such method allows to express quantitatively the characteristics of the project structure’s elements for scoping the resistance qualities of the organizational structure of the investment and construction project.This article offers another method for improving robustness of the operating of the business structures based on modern concepts of informatics and the management of information flows. In work, the factors of robustness, sustainability and persistence of organizational structures of the investment and construction project are revealed and systematized. The life cycle of the investment and construction project is considered as a sequence of changes in the organizational structure which consists of a set of functional production-oriented units linked by technological, logistical and other processes synchronized in time. The article also offers the use of a mathematical model of the sustainability of the organizational structure under single impact of an external disturbance which allows us to determine the most loaded element of the system.The article provides a clear concept of the resistance qualities: robustness, sustainability and persistence of organizational structures based on the specific features of interaction of external and internal factors of the organizational structure as a system with elements of the organizational structure. Thus, for providing the maximum robustness of the structure is necessary to ensure the permanence of the internal environment of the system, that is, in any change in pragmatic information about the state of the internal environment an appropriate action is taken to counter negative impacts. For providing the robustness of the organizational structure, the reaction time of the system should not be less than the time of the disturbing effect change. Persistence is determined by the numerical value of factors affecting on the elements of the system.Overall, this article could be interesting to a wide range of specialists engaged in system design and allows us to consider solutions of system resistance from the modern positions of informatics.

A new BRB model for security-state assessment of cloud computing based on the impact of external and internal environments

To predict the security state of cloud computing systems, a belief rule base (BRB) assessment model based on the impact of external and internal environments is proposed in this paper. The proposed BRB-based model includes two BRBs denoted as BRB_1 and BRB_2. BRB_1 is used to capture the relationship between the impact of external environment and the hidden behavior. BRB_2 is employed to construct the assessment model of hidden behavior with the impact of the internal environment as the observable data. The impact of the internal environment on the security state of a cloud computing system can be obtained by evidential reasoning (ER) rule with multiple indicators. Moreover, in the proposed BRB model, there are a few parameters whose initial values are usually provided by experts; these are not likely to be accurate and can result in inaccurate assessment. Therefore, an optimal algorithm for training the parameters of the assessment model is further proposed on the basis of the maximum likelihood (ML) algorithm. A case study of the security-state assessment of a cloud computing platform, wherein external attack and internal system events are used as the impact of the environment, is examined to demonstrate the potential applications of the proposed model.

Two-dimensional Morphology Characterization on Recycled Coarse Aggregate

Recycled asphalt mixture is a complex multi-phase structure consisted of a variety of materials; and the aggregate came from the following two sources: recycled asphalt mixture and new aggregate. Upon the impact of traffic load and external environment, the particle size of the former is refined in different degrees, resulting in geometry changes and further effects on the skeleton structure of recycled asphalt mixture and the interaction in aggregate asphalt. Taking the aggregate asphalt recycled from Chongqing-Changshou Highway as sample, two-dimensional morphological structures of recycled and new aggregate were compared and analyzed through image forming technology in this paper. And parameters of ovality and shape factor were involved in analyzing the variation of two-dimensional morphological characteristics as well as the variation of two-dimensional morphological characteristics of recycled aggregate composed of old and new aggregate in different mixing ratios. The results showed that as particle size increased, ovality gradually decreased, ovality of recycled aggregate and new aggregate had little changes, shape factors of recycled granite, new limestone, and new granite decreased gradually; when particle size were the same, shape factor of recycled aggregate was the smallest. Through analyzing the morphological structure of aggregate, the mixing amount of recycled aggregate had little effect on the variation of shape factor and ovality difference of recycled aggregate, indicating that the mixing ratio of recycled aggregate was unrestricted.

Scoping study investigating stakeholder perceptions and use of school canteens in an Australian city.

To investigate stakeholder perceptions of healthy food availability in school canteens, the promotion of healthy foods and canteen policy compliance. This is a cross-sectional study of Catholic and independent primary and high schools comprising three investigative phases: (i) survey of 39 schools, (ii) survey of canteen managers and parents from 10 schools and (iii) an audit of school menus against National Healthy School Canteen Guidelines. Total participants included: 6 principals, no canteen mangers and 86 parents from two schools; 24 menus were audited. Schools are committed to supporting healthy eating, with participants agreeing canteens should follow the National Health School Canteen Guidelines. A total of 94% of parents (n = 81/86) indicated that their children buy food from the school canteen, with commonly purchased items mostly classified as 'red'. Despite this food choice, parents (n = 32/48) indicated they had a responsibility to encourage healthy eating. No school canteen menu comprised +50% 'green' foods and thus did not comply with the National Healthy School Canteen Guidelines. Despite the intense focus on school canteens to sell healthy food, little has changed in terms of student's food choices and the barriers to providing healthy options. The external environment and divided parental buy-in impact the canteen's ability to comply with guidelines. A holistic approach involving all stakeholder levels is required to successfully achieve a healthy school canteen environment and positively influence student's food habits and choices.

Numerical Simulation of Sudden Gas Pipeline Leakage in Urban Block

Nowadays, the leakage model of low-pressure natural gas pipeline under the atmospheric environment has been established with the leak rate decrease with time. The Fluent software is used to simulate the concentration distribution and velocity distribution of gas among buildings at different time after the leakage, the influence of aspect ratio, distance between buildings is considered to maximally simulate the impact of external environment on natural gas leakage and diffusion. Finally we obtained the diffusion trend and concentration distribution under different conditions of gas leakage, so that rescue workers can acquire the transport status and influence of leaked gas in blocks in a short time, and provide a theory foundation for accident rescue.

Focus Group Discussion—Psychodrama in Corporate Environment: Leverage of Investigation of Employees’ Origins of Dissatisfaction within Fludor Benin SA

Background: Employees’ dissatisfaction is as a result of confrontations of two divergent views, compliance with collective labor agreement and the company’s profitability requirements. However, the documentation of internal and external environmental impacts on the employees is poor. Our objective was to study workers’ origin of dissatisfaction from the negative impact of Fludor Benin SA internal and external environment. Population and methods: It was a cross-sectional study, conducted from 11th September 2013 to 08th January 2014, on Fludor Benin SA employees. Data collection was carried out over ten (10) sessions through administration of Focus Group Discussion modules coupled with psychodrama (FGD-psychodrama) and conducted fortnightly. The module was intended for a group of twelve employees per session. It lasted 2 hours and ended with a game comprising a set of sixteen (16) cards. Each participant’s 16-card deck allowed the “player” to identify the likely origin of his dissatisfaction at work. Results: One hundred and twenty (120) employees were expected, but only ninety-nine (99) had participated in the FGD-psychodrama. The rate of participation was 82.5%. The average age of the employees was 35.4 ± 7.4 years, while sex-ratio was 23.75. Average seniority was 9.3 ± 3.2 years. The employees’ robot profile was: 39 (39.39%) passive employees, 18 (18.19%) disappointed employees, 17 (17.17%) unmotivated employees, 14 (14.14%) dedicated to the company but barely recognized and 11 (11.11%) unhappy employees. The reasons for dissatisfaction originated from matrimonial home 25 (25.25%), workplace 23 (23.23%) and use of drugs 11 (11.11%). Seventy-seven 77 (77.78%) employees were satisfied with the FGD-psychodrama modules. Conclusion: FGD-psychodrama may be an effective tool to restore unhealthy corporate atmosphere, help employees to discern the origin of their dissatisfaction and change their perception about stressful situations prevailing in their workplace.

Impact of External Business Environment on Organisational Performance of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Osun State, Nigeria

The paper examined the impact of external business environment on organizational performance of Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Nigeria. It also reviewed literature on MSMEs, business environment and organizational performances. Secondary sources of data were utilized for the study. The findings from reviewed literature showed that the external business environment (economic, political, legal, socio-cultural environment, demographic, natural, technological, global and financial environment) have influence on MSMEs operators in Nigeria. It was also discovered that there exists relationship between SMEs and the environment in which it occurs. The study concluded that SME operators should understand all these types of external business environment and their implications on organizational performance of their business activities in order to identify opportunities and threats to their businesses and update their knowledge, understanding and skills to meet the predicted changes in realm of their enterprises.

This research aimed to discover the impact of external environment and Total Quality Management implementation on company performance in order to create competitive advantage in PT. ISM Bogasari Flourmills. This research is an associative explanatory research with quantitative method. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data. The primary data collected by spreading 122 questionnaires to employees of PT. ISM Bogasari on chief officers level, assistant manager level, and manager level. Sampling method used is Proportionable Stratified Random Sampling. The result showed that external environment with indicator of complexity, dynamics and environment carrying capacity, has positive and significant impact on company’s performance. Total Quality Management implementation with indicators of costumer focus, continuous refinement and staff training program, brings positive and significant impact on company’s performance. The company’s performance with its indicators of efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability, has positive and significant impact on the creation of competitive advantage. The Research also proved that external environment and Total Quality Management Implementation directly affect the creation of competitive advantage.

Impact of External Business Environment on Training in Nurses at a Referral Hospital in Kenya

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of the political environment (government policies, devolution to county governments, professional associations and trade unions) socio-cultural environment (age, gender, education levels and peer-pressure) and technological environment (advancement in technology, evolving hospital care delivery systems, information and communication technology, invention and innovations) on staff training at a referral hospital. The study was conducted based on data collected from 322 nurses working at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Western Kenya. The hypotheses were tested using Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple stepwise linear regression analysis. The findings of the study indicated that the technological environment explained 95% of the variation in nurse training (Adjusted R2 =0.942, P<0.05). On the other hand, the political and social-cultural environments were not significant predictors of training in nurses (P>0.05).

The Impact of External Environment on Export Performance

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the external environment on the company’s strategic behavior, taking into account the psychological distance and the role of market orientation of export activities. Presence and continuity of presence in the turbulent of international markets need to take smart approach, considering the differences in internal and external markets. To Increase export performance in complex environments and greatly varied with the degree of market orientation is possible. Effectiveness and continuity of presence in foreign markets requires a level of adopting the design of the marketing mix. The method of this research is based on practical objective and descriptive-survey. The study population of research consists of experts, Supervisors and managers of international commerce exporting companies that their companies are excellent and food sample in 2015 Tehran province. To analyze the data collected, the researcher has used SPSS software and Excel. The results show that export market orientation positively affects the marketing mix adoption strategy and both positively associated with export performance. Also export marketing modifies the relationship between the export marketing mix adoption strategy and export performance. Psychological distance and external environment positively affect marketing mix adoption.
