E. Felinska’s choice of genealogical definitions for her works “Memories of a Journey to Siberia...” is due to the peculiarities of the reflection of the past, which differ from each other by the methodological approach in the interpretation of the problem, the properties of reflection of the temporal space, text (nature, world, time space, form, texture, etc.), emotional expression of the author’s recollections. The memoir genre provides a thorough comprehension of events and images of a larger period of time from the perspective of a mature author, which aims to leave a trace in history and relay your own experience to posterity. The memoir genre is characterized by a shorter time distance, and, as a rule, they are written under the first and strongest impressions of a particular event, so they have a high level of reflexivity. In the case of E. Felinska, the event that served as an intention was the exile to Siberia and later a stay in Saratovhe issues presented on the pages of “Memories of a Journey to Siberia...” by the outstanding Volynsky woman are conditionally combined into existential and socio-cultural and historical complexes. For “Memories of a Journey to Siberia...” ‒ the problems are the existential complex, which includes questions concerning the existence of man, his place in the world, the limits that can reach his mind, as well as all dimensions of loneliness, which E. Felinska felt in her own experience. The existential dimension corresponds to the system of problems of artistic illumination caused by the author’s existence in different cultural paradigms ‒ alien Siberian and Volyn. The socio-cultural and historical complex of problems is characterized by a high level of objectivity and actual content. The unifying factor behind the issue of “Memories of a Journey to Siberia...” remains the question of preserving Polish national authenticity in all temporal and spatial dimensions.
