THE PERTINENCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF IBN KHALDUN'S HISTORICAL PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHT IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY

The objective of this research is to ascertain the contemporary relevance of the historical philosophical ideas put forth by Ibn Khaldun. This research employs the historical method, with a literature review serving as the research subject and data collection instrument. When composing articles, both primary and secondary sources are utilized. The primary reference utilized is the Indonesian translation of Ibnu Khaldun's Muqaddimah. The author consults archival materials and periodicals whose titles correspond to those of the secondary sources. The research findings comprised the musings of Ibnu Khaldun as presented in his book Muqaddimah, which provides insights into historical knowledge regarding civilization and social society. Ibn Khaldun actually criticized history in his philosophy of history by cautioning against hastening to believe the news. Appropriate for the current era, in which false news is frequently encountered. Ibn Khaldun's method must be applied to ensure that no historical falsities exist.

Islamization of Science and Campus at Ibn Khaldun University Bogor: Concepts and Implementation

Modern Western civilization has produced damage to science and many secular scientists. This challenge has elicited various responses from Muslim scholars in various parts of the world. The response was carried out with a movement of Islamization of science in various institutions of higher education. One of the institutions that responded to this challenge was Ibn Khaldun University Bogor (IKUB). On this campus, a movement called Islamization of Science and Campus (ISC) emerged. The purpose of this study is to find the idea and implementation of ISC that has been carried out by IKUB. The results of this study found that the idea of ISC conducted at IKUB was conceptualized based on three considerations, namely Islamic teachings, campus institutional aspects, and community conditions. The implementation of ISC that was initiated is, the motivation of sincere intentions because of Allah for each campus community, developing Islamic scientific traditions, instilling Islamic values in the tri dharma (teaching, research, and community service), the application of campus Islamic culture, and the example of Islamic akhlak from leaders at various levels.

Pengaruh Modal Usaha dan Motivasi terhadap Minat Berwirausaha Pada Mahasiswa Tingkat Akhir Ekonomi Syariah Universitas Ibn Khaldun Bogor

Bogor This research method uses quantitative methods, taking data directly from the object of research in the form of disseminating questioners directly to final year students of Islamic economics, Ibn Khaldun University, Bogor. By presenting facts or realities that occur in the field that are observed through observation, field notes and distribution of questionnaires to final year students of Islamic Economics Ibn Khaldun University Bogor. This study aims at 1). Knowing the influence of business capital and motivation on entrepreneurship in final year students majoring in Islamic Economics at Ibn Khaldun University Bogor. 2). Knowing how to motivate entrepreneurial interest in final year students majoring in Sharia Economics, Ibn Khaldun University, Bogor.The results of research in this thesis that the influence of business capital and motivation in entrepreneurial interest in final year students of Sharia Economics at Ibn Khaldun University Bogor. Included in the positive category between independent variables, namely business capital and motivation, and dependent variables, namely entrepreneurial interest. It can be proven by the following results: 1) the results of the t test above obtained the calculated value of the Business Capital variable (X1) of 14.106 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, the Motivation variable (X2) of 2.061 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 So it can be concluded that the Motivation variable (X2) partially has a significant influence on Entrepreneurial Interest (Y). So that the presentation results of the data efficiency obtained in this study amounted to 78.1%.

The Concept Of Education Management In The Post-Conflict Regions Of West Kalimantan: A Study Of Ibn Khaldun’s Thought

This article discusses the management of education in schools in the thought of Ibn Khaldun. The approach used in this study is qualitative, and the type of research is literature research. This research combines data collection techniques with document studies so that data in the form of journals and books related to Ibn Khaldun are used as primary sources in this study and refer to the work of Ibn Khaldun. The data used relates to Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts on Islamic education management. This research shows that, at least in the implementation of education management in schools, four aspects are mutually integrated: educators, students, learning materials, and learning methods. Ibn Khaldun’s perspective on educational management can be applied to educational institutions such as the Madrasah in West Kalimantan. Moreover, educational practices in West Kalimantan are still unable to overcome problems, especially in building an atmosphere of peace between students, both ethnic and religious. Educators in Madrasah, especially in West Kalimantan, can integrate learning materials with tolerance and student backgrounds without raising ethnic or religious stereotypes. The learning method can be done by understanding the material and mapping the material that can be related to building peace in West Kalimantan.

Genealogy, critique, and decolonization: Ibn Khaldun and moving beyond filling the gaps

The aim of this paper is to locate critique at the intersections of the genealogy of knowledge in anthropological thinking and the decolonizing movement. The paper approaches the decolonizing movement as one of the most crucial points in anthropological thinking. It is built on the premise that the decolonizing movement is set to go beyond filling the gaps in genealogies and it can do so by: (1) revising the ‘dismissed’ genealogies that has contributed to the formation of the contemporary classical theory, and (2) thinking creatively in implementing the critical thinking tools to the dismissed scholarship, in an equal manner to the Eurocentric scholarship. To illustrate, it uses the case of Ibn Khaldun, an Arab scholar of social sciences and historical analysis from 14th Century who is often referred to as the first sociologist. On the one hand, his influence in classical Western thinking is largely dismissed. On the other hand, as a counter-response to this dismissal, the new Islamic revivalist intelligentsia in the Muslim right engage with him in a selective manner that not only rejects that central critical thinking but, even worse, sanctions the local regimes of power, including that local canon. By locating his scholarship to multiple tropes in anthropological theory and reading his evolutionist thinking vis-à-vis the post-colonial literature in anthropology and sociology, I question the limits and possibilities of critical thinking within and beyond the decolonizing movement.

Building Students' Affective Qualities through the Method of Compassion in the Perspective of Ibn Khaldun's Thought

Qualitatively, this research examines the reality of several cases of violent conflict between teachers and students; a problem still often occurs, so an effective solution is needed. Affection is the method chosen as one of the solutions. So, the purpose of this study is to explore the implementation of Ibn Khaldun's perspective affection method in improving the affective quality of students. This field research took place at MTs Assalam Kudus, Indonesia. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and then analyzed with the stages of reduction, presentation, and clarification/conclusion. The results of this study indicate that applying the compassion method in learning fiqh can lead students to improve affective quality. In addition, this study can provide a deep understanding of the impact of the method of affection initiated by Ibn Khaldun on the affective quality of students. The practical implications of this research can contribute to the development of learning that is more oriented towards the affective aspects of students, especially by applying the method of compassion in the context of Islamic education.

The Reliability Level of Women's Dormitory Building Ibn Khaldun University Bogor

The Ibn Khaldun University Women's Dormitory Building, Bogor (ASPIKA) is a building that functions as a temporary residence for female students. The ASPIKA Building was established 13 years ago, this has resulted in several building components and structures experiencing some damage which resulted in the function of the ASPIKA Building decreasing, so an assessment of the reliability level of the building is needed. Aspects used in the assessment of the reliability of the ASPIKA Building based on the proper function of the building include aspects of architecture, structure, utility and fire protection, accessibility, and building layout taking into account the applicable SNI standards. The method used is descriptive quantitative as well as survey data of the existing building by the Minister of Public Works No. 2/PRT/M/2006 concerning Guidelines for Building Technical Requirements. The results showed that the percentage value of the building on the architectural component aspect was 95.50%, indicating the building is in reliable condition. The percentage value on the structural component aspect of the building is 96.56%, indicating that the building is still reliable. The percentage of utility and fire protection components has a value of 65% indicating that the component aspects of the building are not reliable. Unreliable factors in utility and fire protection components are influenced by an inadequate fire prevention system so more attention must be paid to these aspects. Components in the accessibility aspect get a percentage of 65%, meaning that they are less reliable, where this value is influenced by the limited access of people with disabilities to reach areas on each floor of the building. The building layout and the environment get a 100% percentage which identifies the building layout as reliable based on the documents on the ASPIKA Building. The total value of the reliability level of ASPIKA Buildings obtained is 79.41% categorized as "Less Reliable" (reliable category is > 95%), this is influenced by the fire protection component by 65% ​​and the accessibility component by 65%. The solution that can be done by the university is to repair and procure facilities on the fire protection system and provide accessibility facilities that can make it easier for people with disabilities.

An exploration of women entrepreneurs “doing context” in family business in the Gulf States

PurposeDrawing on indigenous theory of Ibn Khaldun, the rise and fall of States, this paper explores the agency of women entrepreneurs in family business in Bahrain and the underlying enablers in supporting and facilitating the exercise of this agency. This study attempts to move beyond the Western-centric studies to reflect and bring to light the unique institutional settings of the Gulf States.Design/methodology/approachThe research builds on a rich qualitative single case of a family business based in Bahrain. The single case study methodology was motivated by the potential for generating rich contextual insights. Such an approach is particularly valuable to gain a more holistic and deeper understanding of the contextualized phenomenon and its complexity.FindingsIn this study the authors show how women entrepreneurs take two different paths to enter and become involved in the family business, the barriers they are subjected to and the active role they play in dismantling the challenges to the extent that they become the main mediators between the family business and central institutions in society.Originality/valueBy incorporating indigenous theory with Western family business concepts, the study extends existing understanding of women entrepreneurs in family business by underscoring the agency that women entrepreneurs have in “doing context” and the role that women play in strengthening common cause and destiny within the family and the business by building and drawing on different forms of loyalty.

ABSTRACT Abdul Rahman Ibn Khaldun is one of the most significant figures in the history of social sciences. He is also an outstanding thinker in the history. This article deals with the contribution of Ibn Khaldun to communication science and his pioneering works in the field of international and intercultural communication studies of the Islamic world. He is considered by many as the founder of sociology. His typology on cyclical pattern of history and his theories on political economy, demography, and environmental sciences have earned him a prominent place among the major intellectuals in the history of social thought.

Unveiling Historical Trajectory and Civilisational Evolution: A Comparative Examination through the Lenses of Ibn Khaldun and Oswald Spengler

Abstract: This research article examines the comparative perspectives of Ibn Khaldun and Oswald Spengler regarding the progression of history and the advancement of civilisations. This article aims to argue that Ibn Khaldun and Oswald Spengler shared a similar perspective on the progression and decline of nations and civilisations. At the same time, they had different perspectives as they lived in distinct historical periods. The study posits that their perspectives on history, society and civilisation are characterised by a reduced level of subjectivity and a greater emphasis on rationality. The analysis reveals that despite their shared cyclical historical patterns, there exist notable disparities on the mechanisms behind the growth of civilisations and the conceptualisation of civilisation’s lifespan. The interpretations and definitions of history and civilisation put forward by Ibn Khaldun and Oswald Spengler have had a profound impact on the field of human sciences, fostering notable advancements. To attain a high level of accuracy, this study uses qualitative research techniques as a means to accomplish its aims. Ibn Khaldun and Oswald Spengler possessed a comprehensive perspective of culture and history and the processes through which history unfolds. When discussing history, individuals tend to adopt a particular perspective and contemplate on the various facets of the subject matter. A comprehensive examination is warranted to enhance comprehension of their theoretical framework and grasp of the aforementioned topic..

The Decline of the Umayyad Caliphate in Andalus Based on Ibn Khaldun’s Theory

This inquiry examines the downfall of the Umayyad Caliphate in Cordoba, Andalus (Spain), in 1031 CE, which signaled the end of almost three centuries of Umayyad dominance in the region under Islamic governance. The primary objective of this study is to scrutinize the factors contributing to the demise of the Umayyad Caliphate in Andalus, drawing upon the insights presented by Ibn Khaldun. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study utilized content analysis methodology to examine pertinent documents and additional written sources. The findings of this research, as per Ibn Khaldun’s theories, identified critical elements that precipitated the collapse of the Umayyad government. These included a failed state, political disintegration, severe financial crises stemming from the erosion of social solidarity, a decline in the sense of belonging (‘asabiyyah), instances of injustice and tyranny, a culture of opulence, and weakened religious adherence. Ultimately, the populace of Andalus withdrew their support for the Umayyad Caliphate, leading to a diminishing sense of social solidarity. Consequently, the Islamic civilization in Andalus underwent a gradual decline, culminating in its destruction by external forces.

TEMPORAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL FORCES IN SHAPING IBN KHALDUN'S THEORY: RELEVANCE AND APPLICATION IN MODERN SOCIETAL DYNAMICS

The article examines and discusses temporal and geographical forces shaping Ibn Khaldun's theory's relevance and application in modern societal dynamics. The report provides the critical biographies of Ibn Khaldun to understand better the thinker’s philosophical perspectives on history and civilization. The study explains how historical context shapes Ibn Khaldun’s thought. Moreover, the study argues that Ibn Khaldun had a theory on the development and collapse of states and civilizations relevant to modern societal dynamics. Besides, it evaluates Ibn Khaldun’s concepts and relates them to the present day. This study claims that Ibn Khaldun's perspectives on history, society, and civilization are less subjective and more rational. Further, this study examines the impact of leadership qualities and the influence of ‘asabiyyah and cycle patterns and Ibn Khaldun’s reflections on the socio-economic complexity of the modern world. Ibn Khaldun’s interpretations and definitions of history and civilization resulted in significant innovation in human science. The study adopts qualitative research techniques to achieve its objectives. Ibn Khaldun had a multi-dimensional outlook on civilization and history and the way history develops. This study argues that his multidimensional approach to history deserves a new analytical study.

Pendidikan sebagai Reproduksi Nilai Menurut Ibnu Khaldun dan Implementasinya di SMP Islam Amanah Ummah

Many philosophers have contributed their thoughts to the field of education, including Ibn Khaldun. He was a bold individual who introduced innovative ideas. Specifically in the realms of knowledge and education, he successfully mapped and positioned Islamic and general knowledge effectively, making it easy for anyone to study and conduct further research. This study aims to analyze Ibn Khaldun's thoughts on education as the reproduction of values and its implementation in Amanah Ummah Junior High School, Sukoharjo. The research employs a qualitative method (Field Research). The results obtained by the author include the following: concerning the aspect of Islamic educational goals, Ibn Khaldun's perspectives are; 1) shaping the Complete Individual (Insan Kamil), 2) the importance of teachers having models and approaches in teaching, 3) using techniques appropriate to the subject matter, and 4) implementing knowledge into positive values.

KONSEP SOSIOLOGIS DALAM PENDIDIKAN PERSPEKTIF IBN KHALDUN

Education and social development are things that are mutually integrated and provide mutually beneficial effects. Ibn Khaldun is one of the figures who dared to create an excellent design for social science in the Middle Ages. This discussion aims to discover Ibn Khaldun's concept of education in social development. This study uses a qualitative approach with a type of literature study. Data was collected by exploring historical texts and research results related to social and educational concepts from the Khalduniyan perspective. The results of the study found that social relations that begin with the term "Ashabiyah" have had a positive effect on the success of education in society, as the view is that the goal of society is to pass on culture to the next generation, so it needs to be equipped with the concept of "ashabiyah" which can help create it. a social group that is strong and able to preserve and pass on cultural values ​​to future generations, based on these ashabiyah relationships, education will be better formulated because these bonds of solidarity help give birth to peace and create cohesion between fellow tribes and communities and ashabiyah relationships which can have a negative impact on the quality of education in society.

Emergence of Sufism and Moderate Sufism

Sufism calls for a return to the teachings of Islam, and to hard work, construction and reconstruction that is accomplished with the blood of the heart. It calls for strengthening and educating the self, and reforming the souls according to divine law, and condemns the weakness, dependence, laziness, and escaping from shouldering the responsibilities, and confronting the problems of life, which seeks that the person who believes in the One God, the Almighty, the Powerful, the Mighty, who created the most honorable creature in the entire universe, and who has lost his selfhood, credibility, his humanity and status long ago, due to some false and misleading ideas of Sufism, specifically the idea calling for the annihilation in God instead of remaining by loving God, based on the doctrine of “Pantheism” which says, “there is no reality for this material world, including the man,” and the saying “you should die before you die.” However, the doctrine of Pantheism has some considerations. We must know first what Sufism is? When we search for this word, we see that it is not in the Qur’an or in the Prophetic hadiths, just as we do not find a Muslim in the first and second century since the rise of Islam called a Sufi, and Muslim in the first century of Islam liked to be called a believer due to his faith, piety, and self-purification. Where did this word come from? We only have to say that Sufism was taken from Soof: wool, so it is said that he is a Sufi if he wears woolen cloth, and what we rely on most for this is linguistic derivation. Many people took this opinion, including Al-Suhrawardy, the author of the book (Awarif Al-Maʻārif), Al-Tusi, the author of the book (Al-Lamʻ), and Ibn Khaldun, author of (Introduction).

The Concept of Development in Ibnu Khaldun's Thought

Development is a complex and multidimensional process involving social, economic, political and environmental aspects in a society or country. Initially, development was interpreted as a process that only involved economic aspects. However, along with the development of empirical thinking and experience, the concept of development is developing and involving other aspects such as social, political and environmental aspects. Ibnu Khaldun as a philosopher also had special thoughts regarding the concept of development by using Islamic religious values as the basis of his thinking. This article was written using a qualitative method with descriptive presentation and using secondary data in the form of literature study. The results of writing this article illustrate that the concept of development in Ibn Khaldun's thinking is a social process related to the progress of society from one level of civilization to a higher level. This process occurs through three phases: formation, growth, and decline. Ibnu Khaldun also offered solutions for building the nation and state with three approaches, namely: First, starting development with a focus on the quality of human resources, Second, strengthening government solidly and Third, prioritizing human development over physical development. Ibnu Khaldun also offered the concept of development, especially in the economic sector, which consists of four important roles, namely: First, the role of humans or Ar-Rijal, Second, the link between development or Al-Imarah and justice or Al-Adl, Third, the role of institutions and government, and Fourth, the role of wealth or Al-Mal. Ibn Khaldun's views are still relevant today and can provide inspiration for sustainable development in the future.

THE ROLE OF KKN STUDENTS IN CARRYING OUT MALAY LANGUAGE TEACHING ACTIVITIES AT THE LOCATION OF SINGHANAKHON WITTAYANUSORN SCHOOL, THAILAND

Ibn Khaldun University Bogor International KKN is a form of community service activity. Real Work Lectures will be held on 16 May – 30 September 2023. Activities consist of teaching activities for junior high school students (Mattayom), and community service activities. This article discusses the school activities of Singhanakhon Wittayanusorn School and additional activities of KKN students. KKN activities aim to provide experience and as a form of learning process for students to explore the school's potential that can be developed. The learning method used is to use a basic Malay language book for the easiest introduction to vocabulary. An additional activity for KKN students is the Minicamp Qur'an activity which aims to teach students to create ash-syu'ur Al-Qur'ani (Qur'anic feelings) in students, instilling the spirit of increasing recitations of the Qur'an. The community service activities carried out include helping to clean the garden and planting mango tree seedlings in the garden of the school owner of the Singhanakhon Wittayanusorn School with the aim of creating a sense of care for the environment and a form of cooperation and mutual cooperation with the community. Ibn Khaldun University Bogor's KKN activities are expected to provide benefits to the community, students and schools, especially those aimed at creating a generation that can develop in languages ​​other than their own country and become role models in all things.

A Comparative Evaluation Between Ibn Khaldun Thought and Liberal Views

Bu çalışmada liberal düşüncenin temelleri irdelenerek İbn Haldûncu düşünceyle mukayeseli bir değerlendirme yapılacaktır. Bu amaçla öncelikle, bireycilik, özgürlük, adalet ve serbest piyasa gibi ilkelerin radikalleşmesi ve devlet müdahalesine çözüm yolları üretme olarak gelişen liberalizmin kökleri ele alınacaktır. Sonrasında İbn Haldûn’un özellikle ekonomi ile ilgili görüşlerine değinerek liberalizm ile karşılaştırmalı bir değerlendirmede bulunulacaktır. Liberalizmin Batı’daki gelişimi ekonomik ve haklar bağlamında olmuştur. Ekonomide serbest piyasa fikrinin (devletin ekonomiye müdahale etmemesi) ve bireysel özgürlüklerin öncüleri olarak kabul edilen aydınlanma düşünürleri, liberalizmin kaynakları olarak görülür. Ancak ekonomideki istikrarsızlıklardan dolayı liberalizm düşüncesi evrilerek, devlet müdahalelerine kapı aralamıştır. Batı düşüncesinden farklı olarak serbest piyasa ve hukuk fikirleri açısından İbn Haldûncu bakış açısının çoğu zaman liberalizm ile ilişkisi kurulmuştur. Özellikle İbn Haldûn’un ekonomi üzerine söylemlerinden dolayı liberalist bir teorisyen olarak görülmüştür. Hatta liberalizmin temellerini atan modern düşünce filozoflarına ilham verdiği iddia edilmiştir. Ancak temelde Batılı liberal söyleme ait olan bireycilik, özgürlük ve serbest piyasa gibi ilkeler her ne kadar İbn Haldûncu düşünceyle benzerlik gösterse de liberalizm bu düşünce geleneğinin karşısında yer almıştır.

STRENGTHENING THE COMMUNITY ECONOMY THROUGH USE OF OIL WASTE AND ECOPRINT TRAINING FOR SME INNOVATION IN PASIR DISTRICT HORSE

Pasir Kuda Village was assigned as the location for KKN group 02 at Ibn Khaldun University, Bogor. The focus of the work program isStrengthening the community economy throughMSMEs in the surrounding community formmmore andincrease the competitiveness of their products. The duration of this activity is 25 days, from 7-31 August 2023 in RW 04, Pasir Kuda Village, West Bogor. Students use their creativity and knowledge to make real contributions to society through innovative solutions. They also involve 6th grade elementary school students in training to hone their creativity and skills. The research methods used are surveys and case studies with a descriptive approach. Primary data was obtained through direct observation and interviews with related informants, while secondary data was collected from sources such as history, profiles, regulations, policies and documentation of activities in RT04 RW03 and RT02 RW04, Pasir Kuda Village. The implementation includes data collection techniques, field observation, direct interviews, as well as documentation as the main medium for obtaining the required information. There are two main stages, namely training in processing used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles and implementing ecoprint techniques at SD Negeri Cibalagung 04
