The Σ c ∗ − Σ c and Σ b ∗ − Σ b hyperfine mass splittings are computed in the Skyrme model. The hyperfine splitting are suppressed by both 1 N c and by 1 m Q , where N c is the number of colors and m Q is the mass of the heavy quark. The Σ c, Σ c ∗, Σ b, Σ b ∗, and Λ b masses are predicted in terms of the known values of the Λ c, D, D ∗, B B and B ∗ masses.
