AbstractThe protonation of (I) at the carbonyl oxygen forms a new type of bridging hydrocarbyl ligand which formally donates 5 electrons to the ditungsten core.
Hydrocarbyl ligands bridging heteronuclear transition metal centres display a wide range of reactivity, especially with respect to the formation of carbon—hydrogen and carbon—carbon bonds. This article summarizes progress made in this area by Prof. F. G. A. Stone and coworkers at the University of Bristol.
