Holographic construction of 2-D arrays of UV intensity using additive source interference from multiple slab reflections

Through the generation of multiple sources from the one coherent laser source combined with induced wavefront curvature, 2-D periodic fringe arrays of UV intensity are generated. These are suitable for holographic processing of materials and resists for numerous applications including possible 2-D photonic bandgap structures.

A practical application of computer-generated holography to head-up display design

Fabrication of a wide field of view head-up display (HUD) has required a trade-off between performance and ease of manufacture. First-generation holographic HUDs employed two distinct approaches: single-element powered holographic combiner with a complex relay lens system, and multiple-element unpowered holographic combiners with a medium complexity relay optic. The manufacturing difficulties of the first approach limit the achievable accuracy whereas the second approach, although easier to make, has obscuration and transmission problems. This paper describes an advanced HUD design using computer-generated holographic construction techniques to fabricate a HUD which meets the extreme performance requirements of the latest aircraft but still remains a reasonable production item.

Wavelength-multiplexed holographic construction using a Ce: Fe: doped PR fiber with a tunable visible-light laser diode

A wavelength-multiplexed reflection-type photorefractive (PR) fiber hologram using a tunable visible-light laser diode is presented. We have shown that the wavelength-multiplexed PR fiber hologram offers a higher and more uniform wavelength selectivity than that of the transmission-type. Experimental demonstrations of wavelength-multiplexed reflection-type PR fiber hologram are provided, which are consistent with the theoretical analysis.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">&gt;</ETX>

White Light Transmission Color Holography: A Review

A review of color holographic imaging techniques utilizing a white-light source is presented. These techniques consist of reflection holography, rainbow holography, spatial encoding, coherent and white-light speckle encoding, double-aperture encoding, a dual-beam encoding principle, incoherent spatial encoding, source encoding, and white-light Fourier holography. The holographic construction and reconstruction processes of these techniques are explained, and experimental demonstrations of the techniques are given.

Multiplexed Speckle And Holographic Interferometry With Color Encoding By White-Light Processing

A technique for multiplexing holographic and speckle interferometric images utilizing a narrow angle holographic construction scheme is presented. The image reconstruction process utilizes a white-light processing system for color encoding of interferometric fringe patterns. The property of color encoding reveals interesting interferometric aspects of the multiplexed fringe patterns. A color video system is used to provide the advantage of displaying the output interferometric images for detailed study. Experimental results of time-aver-aged and double exposure interferometric processes are given. This technique is ideally suited to aid in the location of the J0 order holographic fringe.

Dual-beam encoding for color holographic construction

Color holographic construction by a dual-beam encoding technique is presented. This technique offers the simplicity of color hologram generation without utilizing a reference beam. The encoding procedure uses the entire aperture of an imaging lens so that high resolution color holographic images, in principle, can be obtained. The reconstructed image quality is found to rely on the depth of field of the test object in conjunction with the spatial frequency of the interference pattern selected in the encoding process. The speckle noise is reduced by white-light reconstruction. Experimental results are presented.

Rainbow holographic aberrations and the bandwidth requirements

Rainbow holographic image resolution, primary aberrations, and bandwidth requirements are presented. The results obtained for the rainbow holographic process are rather general, for which the conventional holographic image resolution, aberrations, and bandwidth requirements, can be derived. The conditions for the elimination of the five primary rainbow holographic aberrations are also given. These conditions may be useful for the application of obtaining a high-quality rainbow hologram image. In terms of bandwidth requirements, we have shown that the bandwidth requirement for a rainbow holographic construction is usually several orders lower than that of a conventional holographic process. Therefore, a lower-resolution recording medium can generally be used for most of the rainbow holographic constructions.

A High Resolution Holographic Particle Sizing System

This paper will review briefly the requirements of holography with respect to particle sizing techniques. A holographic construction system and the appropriate reconstruction system will be discussed regarding their characteristics and performance (i.e. system resolution, magnification, system aberration and correction of aberrations, and maximum total test volume). The capabilities of a commercial particle sizing system used to obtain particle sizes and distribution information from reconstructed holograms will be described and characterized. It will be shown that by using the methods described, high resolution throughout large test volumes can be achieved.

Holographic construction of open structure, dispersion transmission gratings

A method of fabricating free-standing transmission gratings with line densities of the order of 1000 e /nm is described. The technique involves a combination of two well-known procedures: application of photoresist and electroplating for the production of fine metal grids, and holographic (interferographic) manufacturing of dispersion gratings. Results of preliminary tests are mentioned.
