A soluble perfluoro-sulfonated ionomer (PSI) was used to coat hollow fibre carbon membranes and porous ceramic tubes with the purpose of obtaining composite PSI membranes. The coating procedure was optimized after studying the viscoelastic properties of the PSI solution. Separating properties of the membranes for mono-, di- and tri-methylamines were demonstrated.
