Abstract Liquid phase methanol synthesis was investigated over ultrafine particle (UFP) catalysts prepared by chemical deposition in liquid phase. The UFP prepared by reduction of Cu and Zn acetylacetonates by LiAlH4 in THF solution showed a very high methanol productivity which is greater than twice that of a Cu–Zn–Al coprecipitated oxide catalyst.
