Cultivation of Oyster Mushroom could be a Viable Option for Doubling the Farmer’s Income - An Overview

Our country is celebrating 75th year of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava and our Government is very much focused on how to double the farmer’s income, it is the utmost duty of every researcher, educationist and agriculture scientist to explore the ways and means to achieve this target. The cultivation of oyster mushrooms has the potential to significantly increase the income of farmers. Oyster mushrooms are easy to grow, require minimal resources, and have a high market demand. By cultivating oyster mushrooms, farmers can diversify their income streams and increase their profits. This abstract suggests that oyster mushroom cultivation could be a viable option for farmers looking to double their income. Indian economy is primarily agriculture based and where the average income from Agriculture Sector ha-1 is very less in comparison to the other developed nations of the world. This is a call of time to enhance the farmer’s income so they can live their lives in a lucrative manner. Present objective cannot be achieved merely by enhancing the price of the different agricultural produce which the farmers grow on their farm lands, but we should include certain other practical implications to increase the existing productivity level of different agricultural and allied ventures by diversifying farm enterprises. Mushroom culture is one of such enterprises with particular reference to oyster mushroom which has the vast potential to double the existing income level of farmers and this enterprise can easily be adopted by any category of farmers even having marginal landholding.

Evaluating the Usability of a Remote Ischemic Conditioning Device for Pre-Hospital Stroke Management: Insights from Paramedic Simulations

Background/Objectives: In acute stroke, often-prolonged hospital transport times present an opportunity for early interventions to salvage brain tissue. Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC), where brief cycles of ischemia–reperfusion in a limb are induced to protect the brain, is a promising treatment for this setting. We assessed the usability of a novel RIC system in a simulated emergency response scenario. Methods: Paramedics were asked to use the RIC device in an emergency stroke care and ambulance transport simulation, overseen by a confederate. Feedback on device use was collected through questionnaires, including the System Usability Scale (SUS) and the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX), and a semi-structured interview. Questionnaire responses were summarized using descriptive statistics; interview transcripts were analyzed thematically. Results: Nine paramedics (including the confederate) participated, with a mean of 10.0 ± 10.3 years of professional experience. Questionnaire responses indicated high device usability (mean SUS score: 85.3 ± 12.9 out of 100) and low task-related demands, effort, and frustration (mean NASA-TLX domain scores: ≤3.9 out of 20). Seven paramedics stated they would use the device in daily practice. They expressed concerns related to display screen clarity, interference with standard procedures, cable management, device fragility, and patient discomfort. Suggested improvements included adding indicators of device performance and refining the cuff design. Conclusions: While the device was considered easy to use, paramedics also identified important areas of improvement. With a small, localized study sample, our findings are primarily applicable to the refinement of the RICovery system for use in future clinical trials in the same healthcare setting. However, feedback on the importance of mitigating potential interference of newly introduced procedures with those already established, robustness of equipment, and effective paramedic–patient communication may also help inform the design of other pre-hospital interventions.

Microscopic Modeling Techniques for Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete: Applications and Future Directions

This article reviews micro-modeling methods for steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC), including finite element, discrete element, and computational fluid dynamics approaches, to analyze its mechanical and structural behavior. The models offer predictive insights on stress response, crack propagation, and durability in SFRC, particularly in high-stress structural applications. This study discusses the limitations of current modeling practices, such as high computational demand and parameter determination challenges, and suggests future improvements to enhance simulation accuracy and scalability. This review aims to support the advancement of SFRC in structural engineering applications.

Skin Disease Analysis and Prediction using Machine Learning

A number of patients all over the world suffer from skin diseases; detection in the early stages is very important for curing such disease. For diagnosing skin conditions however, several factors make this very difficult, these include the multitude of skin diseases, their similar symptoms and dependence on expert dermatological evaluation. In this case, adopting machine learning (ML) is quite a suitable approach as it can help improve the accuracy of diagnosis and its availability. Therefore, the focus of the project is on the developing of a machine learning based skin disease detection system.The problem in consideration is the high demand for efficient and effective mechanisms that can be used in skin disease identification/ detection, whereby such tools should also be able to be used in low income areas. To tackle this, we use a machine learning model which classifies different forms of skin diseases through the use of dermatoscopic images.

Towards Sustainable Battery Recycling: Selective Desorption of Nickel(II) and Cobalt(II) from Amino‐Polycarboxylate Derivate Ligands in Model Systems

AbstractInter alia due to the high demand for lithium‐ion batteries, the required critical heavy metals have become a scarce resource. Consequently, effective recycling processes that enable the recovery of such materials are of high interest. A silica adsorbent functionalized with amino‐polycarboxylate derivate ligands (HSU331) was applied in order to selectively adsorb nickel(II) and cobalt(II). Subsequently, suitable parameters for a pH‐swing desorption were investigated. Maximum desorption efficiencies for Co(II) were achieved at pH = 2.7 (72 %) and for Ni(II) at pH = −0.5 (94 %). These results were used for the design of a pH‐shift desorption process in order to selectively recover Co(II) and regenerate the adsorbent after simultaneous adsorption of Co(II) and Ni(II).

Anthropogenic warming has ushered in an era of temperature-dominated droughts in the western United States.

Historically, meteorological drought in the western United States (WUS) has been driven primarily by precipitation deficits. However, our observational analysis shows that, since around 2000, rising surface temperature and the resulting high evaporative demand have contributed more to drought severity (62%) and coverage (66%) over the WUS than precipitation deficit. This increase in evaporative demand during droughts, mostly attributable to anthropogenic warming according to analyses of both observations and climate model simulations, is the main cause of the increased drought severity and coverage. The unprecedented 2020-2022 WUS drought exemplifies this shift in drought drivers, with high evaporative demand accounting for 61% of its severity, compared to 39% from precipitation deficit. Climate model simulations corroborate this shift and project that, under the fossil-fueled development scenario (SSP5-8.5), droughts like the 2020-2022 event will transition from a one-in-more-than-a-thousand-year event in the pre-2022 period to a 1-in-60-year event by the mid-21st century and to a 1-in-6-year event by the late-21st century.

The influence of a walk in nature on human resting brain activity: a randomized controlled trial

Behavioral studies suggest that immersion in nature improves affect and executive attention. However, the neural mechanisms underlying these benefits remain unclear. This randomized controlled trial (N = 92) explored differences in self-reported affect and in frontal midline theta (FMθ), a neural oscillation linked to executive attention, between a 40-min, low-intensity nature walk and an urban walk of comparable time and distance—controlling for ambient temperature, humidity, elevation change, walking pace, heart rate, calories burned, and moving time between the two groups. While affect improved for both groups, the nature walkers showed a significantly greater boost in positive affect than the urban walkers. Electroencephalography (EEG) data revealed significantly greater FMθ activity following the urban walk compared to the nature walk, suggesting that the urban walk placed higher demands on executive attention. In contrast, the nature walk allowed executive attention to rest, as indicated by the lower FMθ activity observed after the walk. This study suggests that changes in FMθ may be a potential neural mechanism underlying the attentional strain of urban environments in contrast to the attentional rest in nature.

The Unusual Presentation of Non-ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction Following Acute Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in an Elderly Female: A Case Report

Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is a leading cause of poisoning-related deaths, particularly affecting organs with high oxygen demands such as the heart and brain. Cardiac complications, including non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), can occur due to CO poisoning but are not frequently reported in the elderly. We present the case of an 82-year-old female with a medical history of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and previous ischemic heart disease. She was brought to the emergency department after being found drowsy in a closed room with a burning charcoal heater. The initial assessment revealed a carboxyhemoglobin level of 33.5%, which decreased to 9.3% after high-flow oxygen therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Laboratory tests indicated elevated troponin levels, and an ECG showed asymmetrical T-wave inversion and ST depression. Despite the improvement in carboxyhemoglobin, the patient experienced persistent chest pain and rising troponin levels. She was treated with dual antiplatelet therapy and low molecular weight heparin as per acute coronary syndrome protocol, leading to a gradual improvement and a subsequent discharge in a stable condition. This case highlights the potential for CO poisoning to induce NSTEMI in elderly patients. A prompt diagnosis and appropriate management, including the use of HBOT, were crucial for the patient’s recovery.

Multi-Sensor SLAM Positioning and Navigation

This paper provides a comprehensive review of advancements in Positioning and Navigation, focusing on the integration of key technologies to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability. The study examines the application of sensors in robotic systems, with particular emphasis on visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) and LiDAR SLAM technologies. Visual SLAM, which uses monocular or binocular cameras to capture environmental images for navigation and mapping, offers cost-effective solutions but faces challenges such as sensitivity to lighting conditions and high computational demands. LiDAR SLAM, utilizing laser pulses to create precise 3D maps, complements visual SLAM by improving accuracy and robustness. The review also covers the integration of these technologies with deep learning and other advanced algorithms, highlighting their potential to enhance robotic performance and address practical limitations. The paper identifies future research directions aimed at advancing these technologies for more effective and sustainable practices.

Property Comparison of Different Standard Wood Pallets for Possible Local Sourcing

The global expansion of freight transport across business types has impacted supply chain logistics in terms of coordinating the storage and delivery of goods and services across the supply chain. Wooden pallets are in high demand due to their price and environmental impact; however, the wood raw materials needed for making pallets are in short supply. This research was aimed at analyzing the possibility of using local wood instead of imported wood in the production of standard industrial pallets. Industrial pallets were designed using local acacia wood to replace some or all of the imported Radiata pine. This local acacia wood was utilized to prepare and construct pallets of the standard dimensions that were in accordance with the designs. Pallets made from the same type of wood and mixed woods were heat treated to meet the criteria of the ISPM 15 protocol for export. Flat pallet testing was conducted in accordance with industrial standards for the evaluation of the finished products. All types of pallets, including pallets containing local wood components, showed no visible damage during drop tests and compression strength assessments. However, the variability in diagonal span rates was influenced by the wood used in the fabrication process. Pallets frabricated from both partial and full acacia wood exhibited increased bending rates of 2081 and 2650 MPa, respectively, due to the higher levels of cellulose and lignin found in acacia wood. Our research suggests that there is an opportunity to manufacture standard pallets using locally sustainable wood resources, with some modifications to current industrial processes required.

Factors associated with construction apprenticeship completion in the United States

Abstract The construction industry is experiencing high demand for workers. Apprenticeship programmes are essential pipelines of skilled workers into the construction industry; however, apprenticeship completion rates are only around 25%. To promote apprenticeship retention and increase the number of apprentices, it is necessary to identify factors that relate to cancellation from apprenticeship programmes (i.e., leaving prior to programme completion). Using data from the Registered Apprenticeship Partners Information Database System, we descriptively characterised completion and cancellation, then conducted a time-to-event analysis of n = 335,212 construction apprentices from 2012 to 2023 to examine factors related to cancellation. Among all apprentices, 40.1% cancelled from their apprenticeship programmes, while 24.8% completed and 35.0% were actively registered at the end of the study period. Results from the time-to-event analysis show females had significantly higher odds of cancellation than males (OR: 1.11; 95% CI: 1.08, 1.15). Compared to White apprentices, American Indian/Alaska Native (OR: 1.13; 95% CI: 1.08, 1.18), Black/African American (OR: 1.41; 95% CI: 1.39, 1.44), and multiracial apprentices (OR: 1.09; 95% CI: 1.02, 1.17) had significantly higher odds of cancellation, while Asian apprentices had significantly lower odds of cancellation (OR: 0.79; 95% CI: 0.75, 0.83). Non-unionised workers were significantly more likely to cancel their apprenticeship programmes (OR: 1.77; 95% CI: 1.74, 1.80). These results indicate that individual demographic and organisational factors can influence apprenticeship cancellation. Reducing barriers to apprenticeship completion can help address the current skilled worker shortage, and identifying factors that impact entry into the industry for minoritised groups can promote equity within the industry.

Research on the Isolated Three‐Port DC‐DC Converter with Resonant Parameter Compensation Capability and Its Performance Optimization

AbstractIn order to eliminate the adverse effects caused by power coupling of the isolated three‐port converter (ITPC), this paper proposes a three‐port resonant converter that uses a switch‐controlled‐capacitor (SCC) and an auxiliary inductor, which has resonant parameter compensation capability (RPC‐ITPC). The topology and operational principle of RPC‐ITPC are discussed in detail. To achieve resonant‐type power decoupling, it is usually necessary to ensure that the resonant frequency of the decoupling port resonant tank is consistent with the switching frequency, which puts high demands on the accuracy of the resonant components. To address the sensitivity of resonant‐type power decoupling to the parameters of resonant components, an SCC was adopted to solve the problem. The use of SCC enables the RPC‐ITPC to have resonant parameter compensation capability. In order to further optimize the performance of the RPC‐ITPC, a triple‐phase‐shift (TPS) modulation strategy is proposed to achieve the minimum RMS value of resonant current (MRMS‐TPSMS). Under the MRMS‐TPSMS, the switching devices of the power decoupling port have difficulty achieving ZVS turn‐on. To circumvent this problem, we realize ZVS of the decoupling port switching devices via auxiliary inductor current injection. Finally, a 1 kW experimental prototype was constructed to validate the theoretical propositions presented in this study. © 2024 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.

Self‐Polycondensation Flux Synthesis of Ultrastable Olefin‐Linked Covalent Organic Frameworks for Electrocatalysis

AbstractCreating new functional materials that efficiently support noble metal catalysts is important and in high demand. Herein, we develop a self‐polycondensation flux synthesis strategy that can produce olefin‐linked covalent organic framework (COF) platforms with high crystallinity and porosity as the supports of Pd nanoparticles for electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (ENRR). A series of “two in one” monomers integrating aldehyde and methyl reactive groups are rationally designed to afford COFs with square‐shaped pores and ultrahigh chemical stability (e.g., strong acid or alkali environments for >1 month). Functionalizing Fluorine significantly boosts the hydrophobicity of fluoro‐functionalized COFs, which can inhibit the competing hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and enhance ENRR performances. The COFs loading Pd nanoparticles show high NH3 production yields up to 90.0±2.6 μg ⋅ h−1 ⋅ mgcat.−1 and the faradaic efficiency of 44 % at −0.2 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode, the best comprehensive performance among all reported COFs. Meanwhile, the catalysts are easy to recover and recycle, as demonstrated by their use for 15 cycles and 17 hours, with good performance retention. This work not only provides a new synthesis strategy for olefin‐linked COFs, but also paves a new avenue for the design of highly efficient ENRR catalysts.

Anthrax lethal toxin exerts potent metabolic inhibition of the cardiovascular system.

Bacillus anthracis causes anthrax through a combination of bacterial infection and toxemia. As a major virulence factor of B. anthracis, anthrax lethal toxin (LT) is a zinc-dependent metalloproteinase, exerting its cytotoxicity through proteolytic cleavage of the mitogen-activated protein kinase kinases, thereby shutting down the MAPK pathways. Anthrax lethal toxin induces host lethality mostly by targeting the cardiovascular system. Although the enzymatic activity and the molecular targets of LT have long been known, the detailed mechanisms underlying cellular/tissue/organ toxicity are still poorly understood. In this work, we sought to investigate the mechanism of LT-induced cellular damage in the cardiovascular system. We demonstrate for the first time that anthrax lethal toxin has potent inhibitory effects on the central metabolism of cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells. This is likely due to the observed downregulating of c-Myc expression through the toxin-induced inhibition of the ERK pathway. Since c-Myc is a master transcription factor controlling the expression of many rate-limiting metabolic enzymes in glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid cycle, LT's downregulation of c-Myc may lead to the observed bioenergetic collapse, particularly, in cardiomyocytes. Since cardiac cell contraction requires continuous production of large amounts of ATP, potent inhibition of the bioenergetics of cardiomyocytes would be incompatible with life. Thus, LT-induced lethality through targeting cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells appears to be a consequence of a bioenergetic collapse, likely due to the toxin's potent inhibitory activity on the MEK-ERK-c-Myc-metabolic/bioenergetic axis within these target cells of cardiovascular system.IMPORTANCEAnthrax lethal toxin (LT) is a major virulence factor of Bacillus anthracis, the causative pathogen of anthrax disease. Here, we found that anthrax lethal toxin has potent inhibitory activity on glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation of cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells. These effects appear to be the consequence of downregulation of c-Myc, a master transcription factor that controls many rate-limiting enzymes of glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid cycle. With the high demand on energy for cardiac contraction, the potent inhibition of cardiomyocyte metabolism by LT would be incompatible with life. This work provides critical insights into why the cardiovascular system is the major in vivo target of LT-induced lethality.

Major-auxiliary cooperative metal pairs in MOFs enable cascade oxidation of KA oil to ε-caprolactone

Direct oxidation of KA oil (the mixture of cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol) toward ε-caprolactone is in high demand yet hard to implement in need of juggling the activation of both methyne C-H bond of cyclohexanol and α-C-C bond of cyclohexanone. Here we demonstrate that in situ formed Cu1+δ-Oδ-• active site, which originates from relay reaction at Ni(II) and Cu(I) pairs in a metal-organic framework (known as NiCu-MOF-74) with O2 and benzaldehyde (PhCHO), efficiently oxidizes KA oil toward ɛ-caprolactone along with good stability. Mechanism investigation discloses that the auxiliary Ni(II) site first adsorbs O2 for abstracting formyl hydrogen in PhCHO followed by transfer of PhCO· to react with another O2 over the major Cu(I) site, leading to formation of Cu1+δ-Oδ-• and PhCOOH. This major-auxiliary cooperative strategy will be particularly suitable for multivariate MOFs as next generation catalysts towards complex reactions.

Evidence-based medicine: Indole-3-carbinol and resveratrol in human papillomavirus-associated conditions

Of all types of cancer in the female reproductive system, cervical cancer has the greatest social significance due to its impact on young patients, often even those who have not yet completed their reproductive function, and it is the third leading cause of cancer-related death. Considering the lack of etiological therapy for human papillomavirus and associated diseases, the high demand for effective methods of medical therapeutic support, and the absence of a gold standard treatment apart from destructive and excisional methods, it seems reasonable to consider the use of nutrients with anticancer effects in the treatment of low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia both as an addition to the watchful waiting strategy and in the use of ablative treatment methods, as well as their adjuvant appointment in the case of obligatory precancer. Based on domestic and foreign literature sources from electronic databases such as PubMed, CyberLeninka, and Elibrary, this review presents data on the use of trans-resveratrol and indole-3-carbinol in HPV-associated diseases. The combination of two mutually complementary anticancer antioxidants – indole-3-carbinol, which primarily has antiproliferative effects, and trans-resveratrol, which restores cellular apoptosis mechanisms, comprehensively affects the pathogenetic mechanisms of the virus-induced pathological process: it has been proven to reduce the expression of oncogenes E6 and E7, increase the expression of tumor suppressor proteins – p53, pRb, PTEN, and decrease markers of proliferation PCNA and Ki-67. The combination of 200 mg of indole-3-carbinol and 60 mg of trans-resveratrol for the prevention of persistent papillomavirus infection and the treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia has impressive potential; however, further research is needed to determine the most effective application schemes.

How I do it: MRI-guided stereotactic navigation for Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy.

MR-guided stereotaxy has emerged as a viable alternative to CT-guided frame-based or frameless approaches. By offering direct MR-guided navigation, this technique addresses most limitations inherent to CT navigation, enabling submillimeter precision. We detail the workflow of using the ClearPoint® MR navigation system for laser catheter placement in the treatment of a hypothalamic hamartoma. MR-guided navigation is a precise and effective stereotactic method for laser ablation of targets with high demands for accuracy. However, compared to standard stereotactic techniques, MR-guided navigation is more time-consuming and costly.

Burnout: a comprehensive review

AbstractBurnout has been the focus of extensive scientific research. The World Health Organization officially recognized burnout as an occupational phenomenon, defined as a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress that remains unmanaged and characterized by three dimensions: exhaustion, cynicism, and inefficacy. Existing literature highlights limitations in current measurement instruments for diagnostic purposes. These tools often yield scores that overlap with other conditions such as fatigue, anxiety, and depression. Chronic exposure to high job demands and low job resources emerges as the primary trigger for burnout. While individual characteristics (such as neuroticism) may increase susceptibility, specific personality traits associated with higher risk remain unclear. Burnout has adverse effects on both individuals and organizations. Typical interventions focus on stress relief and coping strategies to manage high job demands, but their effectiveness diminishes over time. Evidence from organizational interventions suggests that improving employees’ working conditions can reduce burnout risk. Combined interventions offer promise by creating a healthy work environment while empowering employees to handle occasional stress. Social partners should advocate for support in researching burnout, aiming for a clear diagnosis, effective treatment, and preventive measures to mitigate psychosocial risks in the workplace.Practical Relevance: The findings of this article highlight the importance of addressing both job demands and job resources to mitigate burnout in organizational settings. Implementing interventions that improve working conditions and provide adequate support can significantly reduce burnout risk and enhance employee well-being. Organizations should prioritize creating a healthy work environment and empowering employees with the necessary resources to manage workload effectively.

Assessing indicators and preferences of cultural ecosystem services in urban areas: a case study of Murcia, Spain

ContextThe degradation of the environment due to anthropogenic action underscores the need to demonstrate the benefits that natural areas provide to society. Continuously growing urbanisation trends and high demand on urban green infrastructure requires the inclusion of cultural ecosystem services (CESs) in strategic urban planning. To achieve this, understanding the population's preferences regarding the various CESs provided by urban green spaces is extremely useful for their management and long-term planning strategies. Nevertheless, the complexity of urban environment and urban CESs and inclusion of participatory-oriented and demand-based planning poses challenges in conducting solution-oriented assessments.ObjectivesTo address this issue, we aim to define and validate spatial indicators that are applicable in any urban area. We employ them to quantify the provision of CESs considering that such approach can contribute to better urban planning strategies.MethodsA survey, aiming to validate five proposed CESs indicators and evaluate the population’s perception regarding the importance of CESs in urban green areas in the city of Murcia (Spain) was conducted. In total, 733 answers were collected. The survey results underwent through statistical and geospatial analysis at the neighbourhood level, which facilitated the creation of CESs maps, considering socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents.ResultsAll five proposed CESs indicators were highly accepted by the respondents across all demographic groups. Conversely, differences in the perception of importance of CESs are noted based on the age of the respondents. Disparities in CESs provision are observed between different city neighbourhoods and socio-demographic groups.ConclusionsWe identified significant differences in CESs perception by age group. We also detected the areas where action is needed to improve the CESs provision. Through this study, we emphasize the significance of participatory-based, demand-oriented, and territorially tailored planning approaches to ensure the high provision of CESs and enhance urban well-being.

Lost in translation: the lack of agreement between surgeons and scientists regarding biomaterials research and innovation for treating bone defects

BackgroundWith over 2 million grafts performed annually, bone ranks second only to blood in the frequency of transplants. This high demand is primarily driven by the persistent challenges posed by bone defects, particularly following trauma or surgical interventions such as tumour excision. The demand for effective and efficient treatments has increased exponentially in the twenty-first century. Limitations associated with autologous bone grafts drive exploration into replacements, including allografts, synthetic substitutes, and 3D-printed scaffolds. This research aimed to unravel disparities in the knowledge and evaluation of current and future bone defect treatments between surgeons and biomaterial scientists.MethodsA prospective cross-sectional survey, pre-registered with the OSF (https://osf.io/y837m/?view_only=fab29e24df4f4adf897353ac70aa3361) and conducted online from October 2022 to March 2023, collected data on surgeons’ views (n = 337) and scientists (n = 99) on bone defect treatments.ResultsScientists were significantly more optimistic than surgeons regarding the future replacement of autologous bone grafts with synthetic or tissue-engineered substitutes (p < 0.001). Accordingly, scientists foresee a paradigm shift from autologous bone grafts to biomaterial and tissue-engineered solutions, reflecting their confidence in the ongoing advancements within this field.Furthermore, regulatory trepidations for 3D-printed bone scaffolds were acknowledged, with scientists emphasizing the need for a more significant focus on clinical relevance in preclinical studies and regulatory clarity. In a ranked categorical assessment, witnessing the technology in action was deemed most influential in adopting new bone regeneration methods by both scientists and surgeons.ConclusionsTo conclude, this study was conducted through a web-based survey, highlighting a substantial translational gap. It underscores the immediate need (“call to action”) for meaningful interdisciplinary collaboration between surgeons and scientists, often referred to as the need to “walk the talk”. The findings underscore the critical importance of aligning clinical needs, research outcomes, and regulatory frameworks to improve the development and implementation of biomaterial-based bone graft substitutes that demonstrate efficacy and efficiency in bone defect treatment.
