Evaluation of the Physical and Chemical Properties of a Number of Aquarium Waters in Kirkuk Governorate and Determination of Bacterial Content of Pond Water

This study aimed to evaluate the fish ponds in the outskirts of Kirkuk, starting from the Hawija district, Daqouq, Lylan, Yayji and Taza, and the tests were conducted in the Department of Environment and Agriculture and included water samples of carb fish ponds. The physical, chemical and biological traits were measured for January 2024. The temperature recorded the highest value of 40 m in September in the first station. The highest value of electrical delivery was recorded in the September at the fifth station, as it amounted to 3.227 microscopes/cm and the lowest value of 0.477 microscopes/cm per month in the fourth station, and the results showed the high values of electrical conductivity at the fifth station in all study months. As for the values of the total soluble solid materials at the five study stations, the highest value of 1860 mg/l in November was recorded in the fourth station and the lowest value in the same station was recorded in August, the results showed the high values of the total solid materials in the fifth station in all months of the study. As for the values of Akkara, it ranged between 111-0.833 mg/l, and the highest value of 111 mg/l was recorded in the month of August in the fourth station and the lowest value of 0.833 mg/l in November in the first station, and it was noted through the table the high values The second in all months of the study, and the values of the pH in fish ponds ranged between 6.4-7.4, meaning that the water in the fish ponds tends to be a little alkaline, as the fifth station in the month of August was registered with the highest values of hydrogen, 7.4, and the value was recorded at the second station 6.4.

Controlling particle size of levan in powder form with different technologies

Levan is a fructose polysaccharide with multiple applications in different fields, but its obtaining in powdered form with a narrow particle size distribution is a complicated task. Two techniques, electrospraying and supercritical antisolvent (SAS) precipitation, were used to process levan that was first obtained enzymatically. The SAS process was able to micronize the polymer (at experimental conditions far above the mixture critical point of the solvent-antisolvent system) to obtain spherical particles between 0.30 and 0.50 μm with a proper particle size distribution. In this case, the Peng-Robinson equation of state was used to theoretically determine the mixture critical point. Bigger and elongated particles were obtained with electrospraying (0.60 μm). According to solution properties, mainly rheology, solubility and conductivity, the best solvent for levan electrospraying, in order to avoid problems of solvent evaporation and jet formation, was a mixture of water and ethanol with a polymer concentration of 50 mg·cm−3. Indeed, that solution has a viscous behavior (according to the oscillatory analysis), a low degree of pseudo-plasticity (based on the shear flow analysis), and the highest value of conductivity. Therefore, the particle size distribution of levan in powdered form can be tuned depending on the technique used.

Synthesis, structural characterization, thermal analysis and antimicrobial assay of Co (II) complexes derived from benzaldehyde N4-substituted thiosemicarbazone

Microwave assisted Co (II) complexes of N4 -Substituted thiosemicarbazone were synthesized (TSC-La-f) and characterized by UV-visible spectra, IR spectra, 1H and 13C NMR spectra, elemental analysis, TGA, magnetic measurements and molar conductance. On the basis of spectral data, magnetic moment and thermal analysis square planar geometry assigned to Co(II) complexes. The electrolytic nature of the complexes was confirmed by their moderately high molar conductance values. All the metal complexes were screened for antimicrobial assay. Among all the complexes (TSC-Le) showed more activity than other Co (II) complexes. From this study it was concluded that complexes are more potent bactericide and fungicide than their corresponding ligands. The Use of Low‐Quality Cotton‐Derived Cellulose Films as Templates for In Situ Conductive Polymer Synthesis as Promising Biomaterials in Biomedical Applications

AbstractHere, the use of cellulose films (CFs) produced from low‐quality cotton is reported as a template for in situ synthesis of well‐known conductive polymers, e.g., polyaniline (PANI) and polypyrrole (PPY) via oxidative polymerization. Three successive monomer loading/polymerization cycles of aniline (ANI) and pyrrole (PY) within CFs as PANI@CF or PPY@CF are carried out to increase the amount of conductive polymer content. The contact angle (CA) for three times ANI and PPY loaded and polymerized CFs as 3PANI@CF and 3PPY@CF are determined as 26.3±2.8 and 42.3±0.6 degrees, respectively. As the electrical conductivity is increased with increased number of conductive polymer synthesis within CF, the higher conductivity values, 3×10−4±8.1×10−5 S.cm−1 and 2.1×10−3±5.8×10−4 S.cm−1, respectively are measured for 3PANI@CF and 3PPY@CF composites. It is found that PANI@CF composites are hemolytic, whereas PPY@CF composites are not at 1 mg mL−1 concentrations. All PPY@CF composites exhibit better biocompatibility than PANI@CF composites on L929 fibroblast cells with more than 70±8% viability at 1 mg of CF‐based conductive polymer composites. Moreover, MIC and MBC values of 3PPY@CF composites for Escherichia coli (ATCC8739) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC6538) are determined as 2.5 and 5.0 mg.mL−1, whereas these values are estimated as 5 and 10 mg.mL−1 for Candida albicans (ATCC10231).

Effect of melt‐processing conditions on the electrical conductivity and microwave absorbing properties of composites based on clean scrap poly(vinylidene fluoride/ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer and graphene nanoplatelets

AbstractClean scrap polyvinylidene fluoride (rPVDF) from industrial reject was compounded with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer and graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) to produce low cost and scalable conductive composites. The effect of the melt processing conditions (temperature, time, and rotor speed) on the electrical conductivity and microwave absorbing (MWA) properties was investigated. All systems presented co‐continuous morphology indicated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and selective extraction experiments. The preferential localization of GNP in the EVA phase was evidenced by selective extraction and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Higher conductivity value was observed for the composite processed at 210°C for 3 min at a rotor speed of 200 rpm. The MWA performance of monolayer and bilayer composite structures with 2 mm thickness was investigated in terms of minimum reflection loss (RL) and effective absorption bandwidth (EAB). The bilayer system provided the best MWA response with RL = − 43.1 dB (>99.99% of EM attenuation) when prepared at 190°C for 3 min at a rotor speed of 200 rpm. The ecological and environmental importance of finding new applications for plastic waste, and the low cost of the materials and processing make this composite an interesting candidate for MWA purpose.Highlights Promising application of clean scrap polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) in microwave absorbing materials; Conductivity and absorbing performance are affected by processing conditions; Co‐continuous structure of rPVDF/EVA blend influenced by graphene nanoplatelets (GNP); Selective localization of GNP in EVA phase; Outstanding microwave absorption properties achieved with bi‐layer structure.

High-Performance Proton Field-Effect Transistor Based on Two-Dimensional Cd Vacancy-Resided Cd0.85PS3Li0.15H0.15.

Ion transport is a critical phenomenon underpinning numerous biological, physical, and chemical systems. Proton transistors leveraging proton transport face significant limitations, such as a low on-off ratio and deficient carrier mobility, which restrict their applicability in biological and other scenarios. This study explores the use of two-dimensional (2D) vacancy-residing transition metal phosphorus trichallcogenide-based membranes as the active layer for proton field-effect transistors. The synthesized Cd0.85PS3Li0.15H0.15 membrane exhibits a well-organized layered structure and high hydrophilicity, with nanometer-sized interlayers containing interconnected water networks. These distinct features facilitate proton conduction, leading to a high proton conductivity value of 0.83 S cm-1 at 98% relative humidity and 90 °C, with an activation energy of 0.26 eV. The Cd0.85PS3Li0.15H0.15-based proton transistor demonstrates tunability via gate voltage, thereby enabling effective modulation of proton flow across source and drain electrodes. The transistor notably showcases superior switching characteristics, with an on/off ratio surpassing 5.51 and a carrier mobility of 8.84 × 10-2 cm2 V-1 s-1. The underlying mechanism for this performance enhancement is attributed to electric-field-induced switching in Cd vacancies. This research boosts the development of highly versatile ionotropic devices by introducing advanced 2D ion-conductive membranes.

Exploration of the structural and electrical characteristics and solar cell applications of an electrolyte membrane derived from acacia gum

The natural and eco-friendly solid-state electrolytes were prepared using varying concentrations (wt%) of ZnSO4.7H2O salt and pure acacia gum through the solution cast method. Multiple analytical methods were employed to characterize the resulting acacia gum electrolyte samples. XRD analysis confirmed the increased presence of the amorphous phase with the introduction of salt. FTIR analysis explored the formation of interlinking bands and their complex nature upon salt incorporation. The ionic conductivity was found from room temperature (RT) to 100 °C range. The optimized high ionic conductivity value was found to be 1.11 × 10−4 S/cm at 100 °C for the electrolyte composed of 70 wt% acacia gum and 30 wt% ZnSO4.7H2O, while at RT it was 1.06 × 10−5 S/cm for the same composition. Activation energy values fell within the 0.6–0.92 eV range for all samples. Complex dielectric (real and imaginary) and complex electric modulus analyses were conducted. Dielectric permittivity and electrical modulus analyses revealed a significant interaction between the segmental movements of acacia gum and salt ions. Ionic relaxation processes were explored in terms of conductivity relaxation time using the electrical modulus. The presence of a long tail in the complex dielectric modulus study indicated that the acacia-based solid electrolyte displayed favorable capacitance properties. Further, the Solar Cell (dye-sensitized solar cell) device was fabricated with (Acacia gum + ZnSO4.7H2O) electrolyte. The current density-voltage (J-V) characteristics of the prepared device were investigated. The outstanding results were optimized in the present work, Voc = 0.81 V, Jsc = 9.56 mA/cm2, Fill Factor of 0.67, and optimum power conversion efficiency ƞ = 5.17 % for the electrolyte composed of 70 wt% acacia gum and 30 wt% ZnSO4.7H2O device.

A first principles study of stability, electronic and thermoelectric characteristics of novel high temperature half- heusler alloys ScAgX (X=Si,Ge,Sn)

To meet the ever-increasing renewable energy demand Half- Heusler (HH) materials can be a potential candidate. Heusler materials are seeking popularity as efficient high-temperature thermoelectric materials. Here we systematically investigated the structural, electronic, mechanical and thermoelectric properties of novel HH compounds ScAgX (X = Si,Ge,Sn) in the framework of the first principles approach. These materials are found to be chemically, mechanically and dynamically stable. Born-Oppenheimer molecular dynamics simulations (BOMD) verify the thermal stability of these materials from 300 K to 1100 K. The semiconducting nature of these materials is confirmed by the electronic band structure. ScAgX (X = Si,Ge,Sn) have an indirect band gap of 0.37 eV, 0.42 eV and 0.38 eV respectively. A high value of Seebeck coefficient of 6351 μV/K, 6955 μV/K and 6558 μV/K has been obtained at room temperature. ScAgSi shows a high value of electrical conductivity (∼106 S/m) among these compounds at room temperature. The calculated value of the figure of merit (ZT) of ScAgX (X = Si,Ge,Sn) is 0.12, 0.08 and 0.16 at 1100 K respectively. Our present investigation shows that these materials can be a potential candidate for high-temperature thermoelectric power generation.

Nanostructured inclusions enhancing the thermoelectric performance of Higher Manganese Silicide by modulating the transport properties

Higher Manganese Silicides (HMS) are the best p-type materials beneficial for intermediate-temperature range thermoelectric device applications due to their high thermal stability and inexpensive constituent elements. Although the cost-effective HMS materials possess high thermal stability, they are concerned with high thermal conductivity values. The nanocomposite approach was promised to lower the thermal transport properties without affecting the electrical transport properties, which is experimented in the present work. The higher manganese silicide with varying weight percentages of nano-structured Si0.8Ge0.2B0.02 inclusions was experimented to decrease the thermal conductivity and to enhance the electrical properties. The lowest thermal conductivity value of ≃ 2.24 W/mK was reported with 2 wt% Si0.8Ge0.2B0.02 addition in HMS material. Also, the HMS-2 wt. % Si0.8Ge0.2B0.02 improved the transport properties, electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient values of ≃ 4 × 104 S/m and ≃ 220 μV/K respectively. Furthermore, various mathematical models were proposed here to simulate the composite approach results, which were then correlated with experimental results.

Copper molybdenum sulfide coupled with multi-walled carbon nanotube nanocomposite for robust water splitting process

Developing eco-friendly and efficient non-noble catalysts is crucial for cleaner energy production, nevertheless, optimizing the catalyst is challengeable. The Cu2MoS4 were successfully synthesized with various amount of MWCNTs. The suitable amount of high conductivity of MWCNT can greatly accelerate its HER and OER kinetics, which was demonstrated with the obtained results. XRD spectra revealed tetragonal Cu2MoS4 structure with I 4‾ 2 m space group. Carbon existence was substantiated by Raman spectra, and the ID/IG value of Cu2MoS4/MWCNT-100 was 0.98. The Cu2MoS4 nanoplates were strongly anchored to MWCNTs, as demonstrated by the morphological analysis of SEM and TEM images. The optimized catalyst (denoted as Cu2MoS4/MWCNT-100) exhibits high bifunctional with low 140 mV overpotential value and 193 mV@10 mA/cm2 for HER and OER and a lower Tafel slope value of 93 mV/dec and 51 mV/dec for HER and OER. Moreover, it revealed good catalytic activity with high electrical conductivity (0.361 Ω and 0.897 Ω for HER and OER) and high capacitance value (5.9 mF/cm2 and 9.4 mF/cm2 for HER and OER) with better stability. Lastly, we construct overall water splitting electrolyzer by optimized electrocatalyst as both anode and cathode entail cell voltage as 1.57 V only to deliver 10 mA/cm2 with a faradaic efficiency of 98.75 % for H2 and 93.28 % for O2 and it was believed as active material for water splitting.

Study on the spectral characteristics and chemical structure of Taixi Anthracite

Taixi anthracite is a rare form of coal in both China and the world, characterized by low ash, sulfur, phosphorus, high carbon content, conductivity, and calorific value. Our team employed a solid-phase microwave method [1] to graphitize Taixi anthracite and graft it with natural rubber to create a composite with outstanding properties. However, since the molecular structure of Taixi anthracite was unknown, establishing a molecular model for the reaction becomes crucial for the functionalization of anthracite. In this study, By combining elemental analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance carbon spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the molecular carbon content of Taixi anthracite is 89 %, the XBP value is 0.37, and the chemical formula of the lowest relative molecular weight of Taixi anthracite is C181H77O4NS0.1. The results of computer simulation show that Taixi anthracite is assembled into coal macromolecular structure by 10 molecular structure units of 5 kinds of coal according to 2:1:2:2:3 ratio, and the geometric optimization, annealing simulation and inverse verification are carried out. The aggregation model is established by using X-ray diffraction data and computer simulation techniques.we innovatively constructed five groups of macromolecular structure units of Taixi anthracite to characterize the results and simulate the minimum energy configuration of single chains and aggregate states. This research provides a molecular-level theoretical basis for the functionalization of Taixi anthracite.

Formation of nanosized copper silicides in a high-speed electric discharge plasma jet

Relevance. The search for suitable materials for creating a new generation of anodes in lithium-ion batteries that have not only high capacity, but also high electrical conductivity. For this purpose, the attempts have been made to use silicon Si, which has a high specific capacitance, instead of graphite C, but this material does not have high electrical conductivity. Copper silicides, in addition to high specific capacity, have high electrical conductivity values, since they do not react with lithium during operation, and therefore can be used to solve problems in the development of the above-mentioned lithium-ion anodes. Aim. To obtain dispersed materials in a high-speed jet of electric discharge plasma in the Cu-Si-C system. Objects. Dispersed materials obtained in the Cu-Si-C system. Methods. Plasma dynamic synthesis, X-ray diffractometry (X-ray phase analysis), scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy. Results. The authors have carried out the experimental studies to obtain dispersed materials of the Cu-Si-C system in a high-speed electric-discharge plasma jet and studied the microstructure and composition of the synthesized materials. It was revealed that the product consists of nanodispersed particles, which is confirmed by the results of scanning and electron microscopy. According to the results of X-ray diffractometry, crystalline phases of copper of the cubic system and copper silicides Cu3Si and Cu7Si of the hexagonal system are identified in the composition of the synthesized material.

Dimensionality Control of Li Transport by MOFs Based Quasi‐Solid to Solid Electrolyte (Q‐SSEs) for Li−Metal Batteries

AbstractNowadays, lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) are widely used in all walks of life and play a very important role. As complex systems composed of multiple materials with diverse chemical compositions, where different electrochemical reactions take place, battery interfaces are essential for determining the operation, performance, durability and safety of the battery. This work, set out to study the incorporation of lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)amide (LiFSI) doped 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([EMIm][TFSI]) ionic liquid into an archetype Ti‐based Metal Organic Framework (MOF) ((Ti) MIL125−NH2) to create a solid to quasi‐solid (depending on the amount of IL in the system), and how it affects not only ionic transport but also the structural properties of the IL/MOF electrolyte. Remarkably high ionic conductivity values (2.13×10−3 S ⋅ cm−1 at room temperature) as well as a lithium transference number (tLi=0.58) were achieved, supported by pulsed field gradient (PFG) NMR experiments. Electrochemical characterization revealed reversible plating‐stripping of lithium and lower overpotential after 750 h at 50 °C. Additionally, a proof‐of‐concept solid state battery was fabricated resulting in a discharge capacity of 160 mAh ⋅ g−1 at 50 °C and 0.1 C rate after 50 cycles. This work presents a suitable strategy to dendrite suppression capability, allowing its implementation as interface modifiers in next‐generation solid‐state batteries.

New fossil woods from the middle Eocene climate optimum of north-central Turkey

The middle Eocene climate optimum, a crucial greenhouse event in Earth’s life history, occurred approximately 40 Ma. Fossil wood identifications of middle Eocene age reveal important evidence for the terrestrial tropical/subtropical conditions during this period. The purpose of the present study is to identify new fossil woods from the middle Eocene of north-central Turkey and to evaluate the paleoclimate and paleovegetational history of the north-central Turkey based on new records. Seven fossil woods were collected from the middle Eocene Göynücek Volcanics of the Çekerek Formation (Sarıkaya village, close to Çekerek, Yozgat). Two new species Apocynoxylon umut-tuncii Akkemik and Mantzouka, n. sp., and Ficoxylon anatolica Akkemik and Mantzouka, n. sp., are described, together with two more coniferous species Pinuxylon cf. P. tarnocziense (Tuzśon, 1901) Greguss, 1954 and Juniperoxylon cf. J. acarcaeaAkkemik, 2021a. Although dealing with a rather low number of fossil wood findings, indistinct boundaries of the tree rings, low xeromorphy ratios and high conductivity values in these two new fossil angiosperm species and less visible and indistinct boundaries in the two fossil coniferous species may reflect the warm, humid tropical conditions of the middle Eocene of north-central Turkey. The results are consistent with our former paleoecological evaluation based on the fossil woods including Actinodaphnoxylon zileensis Akkemik and Mantzouka in Akkemik et al., 2021 from the same geological unit and Palmoxylon sabaloidesGreguss, 1969 from the same area.

Insights into the optoelectronic and thermoelectric properties of defect chalcopyrites XAl2Se4 (X = Zn, Cd, and Hg): A density functional theory approach

In the current study, we employed the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbitals (FP-LAPW + lo) approach within the density functional theory (DFT) to investigate the physical properties of Defect Chalcopyrites XAl2Se4 (X = Zn, Cd, and Hg). Calculations yield precise structural and electronic parameters in good agreement with experimental data, revealing all three compounds as direct wide-bandgap semiconductors. The modified Becke-Johan potential (TB-mBJ) method accurately estimates energy gaps, which increase with decreasing lattice constants. The calculated values are 3.34 eV, 3.12 eV, and 2.30 eV for ZnAl2Se4, CdAl2Se4, and HgAl2Se4, respectively. The optical properties, including dielectric function and absorption coefficient, indicate potential applications in visible and ultraviolet optoelectronic devices. The high anisotropy of these materials further enhances their suitability for a range of linear and nonlinear optical applications. Moreover, ZnAl2Se4 exhibits the highest Seebeck coefficient at room temperature. The positive Seebeck coefficient confirmed the p-type behavior of the studied compounds. The highest observed power factor demonstrates optimal thermoelectric performance for these materials. High electrical conductivity values suggest their suitability as effective electrical conductors, especially at elevated temperatures. This study encourages further research into defect chalcopyrites for applications in optoelectronics and thermoelectric energy conversion.

Nano-borosilicate glass-silica ceramic material jetting technology for additive manufacturing of multilayer LTCC substrates

Although one of the simplest methods, various must be resolved before industrializing material jetting technology to fabricate low-temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC). This research examines related glass-ceramic ink configurations and multi-material jet-sintering. Firstly, we present a method for obtaining a nanoscale borosilicate glass powder via radio frequency plasma spheronization, and its surface is grafted with acrylate molecules to create a jettable nanosol. By fusing this configured glass nanosol with silica nanosol in the typical glass-ceramic LTCC combination (4:6) and adding suitable photosensitizing elements, it can be configured into light-curable LTCC inks. 3D printing of multilayer structures using a multi-material jetting device provides a three-layer structure of ceramic layer - conductive layer - ceramic layer, with the ceramic layer cured by ultraviolet light and the conductor pattern scanned and surface-dried by a laser to obtain high-precision delivery of the green part. The sintering effect between different materials is intact and synchronized shrinkage is achieved. Conductivity tests during the sintering stage yielded high conductivity values up to 1.43 × 107 S/m, which further provides the microscopic morphology of the two embedded wires, and the complete and continuous results demonstrate the effectiveness of multilayer wire fabrication. The nanopowder, sol-gel configuration and material jetting under multiple energy loading proposed in this paper significantly support the LTCC additive manufacturing route.

A new concept of ternary aqueous electrolytes based on lithium 4,5-dicyanoimidazolate hydrates

A new concept of aqueous electrolytes based on heterocyclic anions (hydrated anionic triplet electrolyte, HATE) has been presented. Structural studies showed that dimeric lithium 4,5-dicyanoimidazolate (LiTDI) dihydrate molecules, in the presence of acetonitrile, form an ionic system preserved in high concentrations and solid states. X-ray diffraction measurements show that electroneutral dihydrate units can coordinate additional lithium cations acting as charge carriers. The crystalline ionic phase was characterized using spectroscopic, thermal, and electrochemical methods and was used to prepare model electrolytes based on LiTDI hydrates. Linear sweep voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy measurements show, in this system, the depletion of water activity, high conductivity, and reversible cycling of full cells comprising examined electrolytes. We will prove that a concentrated triplet solution acts similarly to the anhydrous electrolyte; regardless of the concentration, it reaches high ionic conductivity values (12–16 mS/cm at room temperature) and is electrochemically stable.

Thermal and chemical expansion of layered oxygen-deficient double perovskites

Layered oxygen-deficient double perovskites (ODP) based on the rare-earth elements (REE), barium and 3d-metals (Fe, Co, Cu etc.) are characterized by high values of electrical conductivity and high electrochemical activity in oxygen reduction reaction, and are considered as prospective cathode materials for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) on the base of proton- and oxygen-ion conducting solid electrolytes (SE). Effective cathode materials should be thermomechanically compatible with materials of SE, which tаkes place when the values of their thermal expansion coefficients (TEC) are close to each other. Due to this the study of thermal expansion of ODP as well as the isotation of different contributions in it (thermal, chemical, spin etc.), is of considerable interest. In this work using dilatometric method the thermal expansion of NdBa1–xSrxFeCo0,5Cu0,5O6−δ (0.0 ≤ х ≤ 1.0) (NBSFCC) ODP was studied using dilatometric method. It was established that the values of average linear thermal expansion coefficient (LTEC) (α) of the samples sharply increased from (15.1–16.2) · 10–6 K–1 at Т < 630–920 K to (18.9–23.5) 10–6 K–1 at Т > 630–920 K due to the evolution of weaklybonded oxygen from the samples. Values of α in the low-temperature region increase with increasing of values of their oxygen nonstoichiometry index (δ), and in the high-temperature one increase with the x increasing due to the increment of chemical contribution in the samples expansion. Based of the results of dilatometry, thermogravimetry, and iodometry, the thermal and chemical contributions in the expansion оn NBSFCC were isolated, and the effect of crystal structure, cationic and anionic composition of NBSFCC ODP on the values of their thermal and linear chemical expansion coefficient (LCEC, αδ ) was investigated. It was found, that LCEC values of the samples sharply increased from (8.6–11.8) · 10–3 at (х < 0.5) to (12.6–15.8) · 10–3 at (х > 0.5) when transition from ordered tetragonal (х < 0.5) to disordered cubic (х > 0.5) phase took place. It was shown, that dependences of LTEC and LCEC of NBSFCC phases on their crystal structure and chemical compositions obtained in this work are in good accordance with the analogous dependences determined earlier for the ODP of other types.

Transformation of heavy metals from contaminated water to soil, fodder and animals

A serious environmental problem that threatens soil quality, agricultural productivity, and food safety is heavy metal pollution in water sources. Heavy metal pollution is the main problem in tehsil Pasrur, Sialkot, Pakistan. Present study was arranged to notice the heavy metals in water, soil, forages and buffalo milk. There are seven sites that were used for this experiment. Highest malondialdehyde (MDA) contents (3.00 ± 0.01) were noticed in barseem roots at site 7. Ascorbate Peroxidase (APX) was reached at its peak (1.93 ± 0.01) at site 7 in the fresh barseem. Maximum protein contents (0.36 ± 0.01) were observed in fresh plant samples at site 2. Site 3's buffalo milk samples had the highest Ni content (7.22 ± 0.33 ppm), while Site 3's soil samples had the lowest Cr content (8.89 ± 0.56 ppm), Site 1's plant shoots had the lowest Cr content (27.75 ± 1.98 ppm), and Site 3's water had the highest Cr content (40.07 ± 0.49 ppm). The maximum fat content (5.38 ± 2.32%) was found in the milk of the animals at site 7. The highest density (31.88 ± 6.501%), protein content (3.64 ± 0.33%), lactose content (5.54 ± 0.320%), salt content (0.66 ± 0.1673%), and freezing point (− 0.5814 ± 0.1827 °C) were also observed in the milk from animals at site 7, whereas site 5 displayed the highest water content (0.66 ± 0.1673%) and peak pH value (11.64 ± 0.09). In selected samples, the pollution load index for Ni (which ranged from 0.01 to 1.03 mg/kg) was greater than 1. Site 7 has the highest conductivity value (5.48 ± 0.48). Values for the health risk index varied from 0.000151 to 1.00010 mg/kg, suggesting that eating tainted animal feed may pose health concerns. Significant health concerns arise from metal deposition in the food chain from soil to feed, with nickel having the highest health risk index.

Evaluating Land Suitability for Wheat Cultivation Criteria Analysis Fuzzy-AHP and Geospatial Techniques in Northern Basrah Governorate.

Land suitability assessment is essential for planned land management strategies aimed at preserving soil and increasing productivity while ensuring sustainable agricultural production. Land degradation resulting from poor land management and fallowing practices typically leads to low land productivity in Iraq. To maintain agricultural productivity in the targeted area, agricultural requirements must align with available resources through land suitability analysis. In the northern region of Basrah Governorate in Iraq, the study focused on integrating GIS-based land suitability analysis with the fuzzy-analytical hierarchy process (F-AHP) approach. The analysis revealed varying suitability categories throughout the study area, with the largest proportion of unsuitable areas found in category N2, covering 31,202.36 hectares (37.76%), and category N1, currently unsuitable, covering an area of 19,956.24 hectares (24.15%). On the other hand, the moderately suitable category (S3) covered 8,297.26 hectares (10.04%), while the moderately suitable category (S2) covered 23,177.79 hectares (28.05%) of the total study area. No highly suitable lands were identified. The key determining factors for the suitability of lands for wheat cultivation were high values of electrical conductivity, carbonate minerals, bulk density, and low organic carbon content. Most agricultural lands are being used in a manner that contradicts their suitable potentials in the study area. Therefore, the pattern of agricultural land use needs to be adjusted based on their current potentials to reduce soil degradation.
